  1. April 2023 Record Goalscorer Results League Table Squad Thoughts We returned to some lovely form this month and just when we needed it at the business end of the season. Xande who had mostly been coming in off the bench got himself the goals to become the all time top goalscorer for the club. In terms of our form we to win all but one of the games this month, and the only draw was away to fellow Alentejo side Serpa. We look good value to be promoted at this stage as Maria da Fonte have to make up a mountain of points on us. Although if we want to win this phase we will need to stay ahead of Vila Mea who are just a couple of points behind us in the league. In terms of performances this month it is hard to look past Harlem Salas who has been superb this month, he's got himself goals and assists this month and almost been mesmeric on the right wing.
  2. March 2023 Youth Candidates Results League Table Squad Thoughts We won our group by quite a margin and we moved onto the second stage, and while it was not the worst start ever, it was not the best as we only managed a draw against Maria da Fonte. We need to finish in the top two spots if we are to be promoted to the next phase. The youth candidates came in and there appear to be a few good prospects in the bunch, but we are at a low level here so whether they ever really contribute anything to the club will remain to be seen. I think this month Goncalo Batista has been the best player for us, he scored in both games in the month and continues his impressive season with us.
  3. February 2023 Transfers Out Matheus Pranke - We did not want to sell him but again, he wanted to leave and I did not want him upsetting the applecart. To be honest we should be able to replace him quite easily whenever we can eventually do that. Results League Table Squad Thoughts When we beat Camacha, we secured ourselves a playoff place, and the month went pretty well with three wins and a draw. It was particularly pleasing to beat Angrense 6-2 after they inflicted our first defeat of the season. There has been a return to form for many of the players as we had no problems finding the net. The pick of the players this month has been Harlem Salas. he has had a few injury problems over the year but this month he really upped his game and scored in every game in the month. At the moment we have an issue where we cannot renew any contracts because we simply don't have any budget and the board is pretty remorseless in not allowing us to renew any contracts at all. It has meant that Welisson Santos for example has an agreement to leave the club already and others will follow. it's not a massive issue, because we can probably replace every single player in the side without too many issues, it is just a little annoying not to be able to tie anyone down to a new contract at the moment.
  4. January 2023 Results League Table Squad Thoughts We drew Premier League opposition in the cup and duly bowed out to Estoril after a 3-0 loss. We would also lose at home to Maritimo B 3-0, in what was a bit of a shocker, although I suspect they had a few first teamers down for a bit of football. We won the remainder of the games and we remain on course to win our group, as we still have an 11 point lead to the Madeiran side. The team has gone a bit off the boil over the last few games. Rodrigo Monteiro at centre back has probably been the best player this month.
  5. December 2022 Youth Intake Transfers In Rui Faria - came in to replace the exiting Digas. He is probably not a starter but should fill the role that Digas left in the squad. Out Digas - The centre back exits the club, we did not want him to leave but he got annoyed when a bid was rejected and so we decided to allow him to leave Francisco Ganco - He is a player that has a lot of potential and having reached 18, I wanted him to go out on loan, and eventually Uniao 1919 came in to at least give him some game time on loan. Badges Results League Table Squad Thoughts A great month for us as we racked up another three wins and we now extend the lead at the top of the league to 11 points clear of Serpa. We are looking good value to go into the playoff stage of the Campeonato. The defence has to take the plaudits this month as we found three clean sheets. Santos and Monteiro have been a rock at the back and Monteiro got himself a goal as well to win the game at Rabo de Peixe.
  6. Yeah, I suspect it will take a very long time to complete this challenge.
  7. November 2022 Results League Table Squad Thoughts A short month of games would see us lose our first game of the season to Angrense. It was a heavy defeat and it coincided with us having to rest a few players for the game, as it just was not possible to play them for this fixture. Left back is a real issue for us with only Pinto able to play there with any kind of competence. We would win the other two games this month and we actually extended our lead at the top of the table to seven points over Serpa. Zarantonello again had a great month as he picked up four goals including a hat-trick against Olhanense. Semedo continued to be a little disappointing in terms of goal scoring output but he has actually played decently over the past few games.
  8. October 2022 Results League Table Squad Thoughts It has been another good month for us as we remain undefeated, but it was a tougher month as we had to make our way to Madeira to open things up. We would end needing to travel twice to Madeira, as we would play Camacha later in the month as well, but this time we managed to win. In between we drew to Fabril before, winning the remainder of our league games. In the cup 4th Round, we had a tough test against Uniao de Leiria, and we were close to exiting the competition, down 2-1 in the final minutes but we got an equaliser and would go one to win a mad extra time 4-3. Stefano Zarantonello looks the real deal with 14 goals now in the league and 8 of those coming this month as we upped the ante in month. Rivaldo Semedo gets important goals but he is a bit wasteful, his XG is higher than Zarantonello, but he has almost half the goals. Ezio Pinto and Goncalo Batista continue to be a force down the left, but tiredness is beginning to creep in and we really don't have an alternative to Ezio at the moment, so if he does go down injured we will be in a bit of a pickle.
  9. September 2022 Results League Table Squad Thoughts We continued our perfect record this month as we picked up three more league wins and got through the 2nd and 3rd Round of the Portuguese Cup. Stefano Zarantonello continued to be the main man up front with three goals in the month but RIvaldo Semedo also got on the scoresheet three times as well. Ezio Pinto continues to put up pretty amazing work rate numbers down the left wing as does Goncalo Batista as the two men have built up a nice understanding. At the moment we are playing out of skins across the board, so I can't really argue with that. The cup was quite a performance as we beat Third Division Felgueiras in the Second Round, so that was a little bit of upset we managed to cause.
  10. Yeah super hot. There are hotter places, the south of Alentejo around Beja is horrifically hot in the summer.
  11. August 2022 Results League Table Squad Thoughts It would be two more friendly games which we managed to win before we faced our first competitive game, in the 1st Round of the Portuguese Cup and we came through against Condeixa. We would then our first two games of the season to start perfect in our group. Lusitano and Serpa did the same as we sit third. They are both clubs from Alentejo so that is a pretty good thing that they have started well. Zarantonello has had an impressive start to the season with 3 goals in 3 games, as has Goncalo Batista and Ezio Pinto, with some good stats at this early juncture.
  12. July 2022 Transfers Stefano Zarantonello - We did not have much wage budget space so, we could either get in a few different signings of this Argentinian striker, and I opted to bring him in because I felt he was better than what we already had, and it was an area of the pitch where we could use some improvement. Results It was just friendlies this month and they went about to form. We tried a couple of different tactics, and we have more or less decided on our approach now. The results mostly went to form I would expect to lose against the better Spanish sides and beat C. Industria, so we got exactly what we expected.
  13. close Juventude de Evora, were the best team according to the season preview, so they are our club. I think Lusitano were very close and I think Portalegrense are in the division below at the start
  14. Cheers thanks very much for the interest in the thread. I hope it will be a good one.
  15. Season 2022/23 The best club in the Alentejo region ended up being Juventude de Evora, as they were predicted to finish the highest in the Campeonato de Portugal, which is the fourth tier of Portuguese football. The board are pretty ambitious and that might not be a good thing, since they want us to be promoted this season, but across all the groups there are probably thirteen or so clubs that are arguably better than us. The club has a fierce rivalry with Lusitano, who as you can see play right next door. Although for our purposes we are allies. Manager Our manager is above, the name is Luis Ramos, and at 28 years of age, we should have plenty of time to affect the fortunes of the Alentejo. 16. Portuguese football has been dominated by three clubs since the Portuguese League was formalised into a national league system. Those three clubs will be well known to football fans as Benfica, FC Porto, and Sporting CP. There have been other clubs that have had their moment in almost 100 years of competitive national football in Portugal. Belenenses were unlucky to peak just before the national championship began but would themselves win a league title at the end of World War II. They would be only team to have ever won a league title apart from the big three until rather remarkably Boavista did it in the new millennium. Since then, no one else has ever done it. In the cups there has been a little more variety, but not a huge amount. Sporting Braga have won a few Portuguese Cups and League Cups. Vitoria de Guimaraes and Vitoria de Setubal have done the same. Moreirense were surprise winners of the League Cup a few years ago and even more surprising was Desportivo de Aves who won the cup. Having said all this, you might be forgiven for thinking that the game revolves around the big three and few minnows occasionally win the odd trophy. But even this does not quite do justice to just how unfair and one-sided Portuguese football is. Even the likes of Boavista and Belenenses are just Porto and Lisbon clubs. Moreirense are from the north a few miles from Porto, the same for Aves. Guimaraes are from the north as well and Braga again is not too far from Porto as well. The Portuguese football system is mostly one where the top three clubs win all the trophies, but even when they don’t it’s normally a club from the local locality. There were two real exceptions to this. Academica de Coimbra from the Central region of Portugal have won a few cups, and Beira-Mar won one. They are from bigger cities in that region of Portugal. Every other cup and title have gone to a club from Lisbon locality or Porto and North locality. Why am I telling you this? I am telling you this because this is the crux of the challenge that we will be attempting in this save. We will be attempting to overturn this advantage that is had by clubs from the big metropolitan areas. More specifically we will be looking to benefit the region of Portugal that I would argue has most underperformed since football became a popular sport in the country. The regions of Portugal have changed a lot since the country was formed almost 1,000 years ago, but broadly speaking they can be described as the following Norte – The area to the north that contains Porto and Braga Centro – The area immediately south of Norte that contains as its biggest cities Coimbra, Leiria and Aveiro. Lisboa – The area surrounding Lisbon both north and south of the city. Alentejo – The area of land that lies between the Tagus and Guadiana rivers, it is a large expanse of territory broadly east of Lisbon stretching down to the Algarve. The area is sparsely populated, and the largest city is probably Evora. Algarve – A strip of land in the very south of the countries, with Faro, Portimão and Lagos as some of its biggest cities. Madeira – An island archipelago to the south of the continental Portugal, off the coast of Morocco, its capital is Funchal. The Azores Islands – A group of islands about one third of the way to the United States of America, the largest city there is Ponta Delgada. While Norte and Lisboa have won pretty much everything, Centro has won just a few cups and the rest have won absolutely nothing in their history. So which region will we be representing? I wanted to represent the worst region in Portugal, so immediately it left only Alentejo, Algarve, Madeira, and The Azores available for selection. Madeira despite having never won anything does have big clubs on the island. The likes of Maritimo and Nacional da Madeira have a long history of playing top division football, and they have been in Europe before. They have reached a few finals despite never winning one of them, so they were immediately discounted from contention. Algarve has never won a competition, but they do have Portimonense in the top division and the likes of Farense have spent long periods in the top division in the last 20-30 years. So, it would seem that the Algarve is eliminated from contention. So that left a straight fight between Alentejo and the Azores. First the reasons for the Azores. The Azores have only ever had one team in the top division of Portugal, Santa Clara and that is lowest total of any of the regions, but they are in the top division now and while not being one of the biggest clubs around they are a decent enough side. The second reason is one that one might describe as mostly geographical, but they have a big disadvantage in playing on islands that are in the middle of the Atlantic. Well having said that it goes both ways. It is a long way to go every time you must play an away game in the league. However, every other club they play must travel to The Azores to play them so you can argue that there is a double-edged sword with that arrangement. Now the reasons for Alentejo and I think they are compelling. Alentejo is a very big piece of land in Portugal, yet only three clubs have ever reached the top division of Portugal. Luistano de Evora in the 1940s to 50s, Elvas in 1960’s and briefly again in 1986 and Campomaiorense in the late 1990s to early 2000’s but the latter do not even exist anymore as the club essentially went bankrupt when were relegated from the top division. Campomaiorense were also the only side from Alentejo to get to a cup final, playing Beira Mar in 1998/99, they would lose that final 1-0. It was apparently quite an event for Alentejo, as people from across the region went to the Estadio Nacional to watch the game. Added to the record of clubs from Alentejo, there is good reasoning in where the clubs find themselves now. They are the only regions whose highest team sits in the fourth division – The Campeonato de Portugal. Every other region has at least two teams that sit in the Third Division or better. So having decided we will represent Alentejo. What is the Alentejo? As previously mentioned, the Alentejo region is broadly speaking the region in between two rivers, the Tagus River, and the Guadiana River. It is a land that in the modern day is mostly an area of agriculture. Alentejo's area extends to 27,272 square kilometres (10,530 square miles) (29.6% of the country) and has a population of 537,556 (5.1% of the country). Topographically, the countryside varies from the open rolling plains of the south of Alentejo to the granite hills that border Spain in the northeast. To feed the water needs of this considerable area, several public dams have been constructed, most notably the Alqueva Dam. The landscape is primarily one of soft rolling hills and plains, with conspicuous shrubs and the native cork oaks and holly/holm oaks, the established olive trees, and grapevines, as well as eucalyptus trees and some native trees. Managed oak landscapes are locally known as montados. In the north, traditional economic activity may be more livestock-based as typified by cattle, sheep, and pig (both white and black) farming. To the south, agriculture may be more predominant. The Alentejo region has a Mediterranean climate, typically warm-to-hot and dry for a large part of the year, with summer temperatures regularly reaching up to 40 °C (104 °F), while winters are relatively mild and wet. The climate is not uniform throughout the region, however: mid-summer temperatures in coastal areas are usually much lower (often around 25 °C (77 °F)) than inland ones (which frequently hover around 35 °C (95 °F)). This resembles the contrast between Casablanca and the Moroccan interior, where the presence of the nearby Atlantic Ocean gives rise to marked temperature differences between coastal and even nearby inland zones. Usually, the warmest temperatures can be found in the southernmost inland parts of the region, along the Guadiana valley between Mértola and Juromenha, particularly in the areas close to Moura. However, the hottest days tend to deviate from the usual pattern and will arise when the winds are east or southeast and very hot air with temperatures reaching 25 °C (77 °F) or more at 850 mbar level (usually around 1,500 m.a.s.l.) enter Iberia from Africa. If the winds are strong enough, the deep and low-lying valley of the Sado river becomes extremely warm by European standards. Places like Alvalade do Sado and Alcácer do Sal and others below 100 metres (330 ft) can reach 45 °C (113 °F) under extreme circumstances, and 40 °C (104 °F) in the summer is regularly reached each year even though they are relatively close to the coast. The highest temperature ever recorded in Portugal was measured on 1 August 2003 in Amareleja and reached 47.4 °C (117.3 °F). Since the meteorological station is about 100 metres (330 ft) above the nearby valley near Moura, it is very likely that temperatures above 48 °C (118 °F) were reached there but no measurements were taken. What is most impressive and unique in Europe was a stretch of no less than seventeen consecutive days at Amareleja with a maximum temperature of 40 °C (104 °F) or more (reaching an average over the period of 43.5 °C (110.3 °F)). This was only equalled over the same period in Córdoba, Spain; although slightly lower over the same period at 42.4 °C (108.3 °F). Finally, the average daytime maximum temperatures reach 35 to 36 °C (95 to 97 °F) in July and August near Moura, 33 to 34 °C (91 to 93 °F) in the Sado Valley (and other inland valleys away from the coast). Many parts, however, are above 200 or 300 metres (660 or 980 ft) altitude, which leads to lower average temperatures also in summer. It is very likely that the Guadiana River valley away from the coast is the hottest on average in Europe, along with the inland part of the Spanish Guadalquivir region, especially near Córdoba. The extremes in this valley, however, are somewhat lower (most just above 46 °C (115 °F)). Portugal, including the Alentejo region, is affected by climate change and average temperatures are clearly on the rise. Some climate models indicate daytime average maximum temperatures nearing 40 °C (104 °F) in the Guadiana River valley by 2100. The area is commonly known as the "breadbasket" of Portugal, a region of vast open countryside with undulating plains and rich fertile soil. With very few exceptions, all the major towns are mainly reliant on agriculture, livestock, and forestry. There are several types of traditional cheeses, wines, and smoked hams and sausages made in the Alentejo region, including Queijo Serpa, Queijo de Évora, and Queijo de Nisa (PDO cheeses); Vinho do Alentejo and Vinho do Redondo (wines); and presunto (smoked ham). Marble, cork, olive oil, and mining industries are other important activities in the region and tourism is expected to have growth potential. The Alqueva Dam is an important irrigation and hydroelectricity generation facility that supports part of Alentejo's economy. The region is home to the world's most important area for the growing of cork. Cork oak, known in Portugal as "sobreiro", has been grown commercially in the region for the past 300 years, with the areas between the trees typically given over to grazing, or on the more productive soils, to the growing of citrus fruit, vines, or olives. Therefore, a uniquely rich and varied ecosystem has developed. The bark of the cork oak is still harvested by teams of men using locally made hand-axes. No mechanical method has yet been invented that will allow the harvest to be achieved as effectively. The stripping of the bark is performed only in midsummer when the bark can be removed more easily. The cork oak is the only tree known that will allow this regular stripping of bark without damage. The harvest of one mature tree provides sufficient bark to produce about 4,000 wine bottle corks. The industry provides employment for about 60,000 workers. Clubs in Each Region Norte Centro Lisboa Alentejo Algarve Azores Madeira Clubs By Division Premier League Second Division Third Division Campeonato de Portugal Regional District Premier Divisions It should be noted that there are divisions below the Premier Divisions which we could manage teams from but this at least shows up to the District Leagues the clubs that are available to us. The Challenge The challenge for this save is as stated. I will manage sides from Alentejo looking to overcome the rest of the country. Every season I will be recording the winners of the trophies and updating a table that records two things, the number of trophies per region and the points (a relative amount of points dependant on the trophy) that each region has won. Our goal is to eventually become the region that had the most trophies and the most points, somewhere a long way down the line. The Rules 1. I must start with a manager with no badges or experience at the best club in the Alentejo region. 2. I have unlimited seasons at the club, until I reach the top division. From that first season I then have 15 seasons at the club, before I much resign and take a new job in the Alentejo region. 3. My manager must retire at a reasonable age, I can then start a new manager following rule one however they must be unemployed instead. Each manager can only manage a specific team once in their career. 4. All trophy wins count towards the figures, whether I win them or not (as long as a club from Alentejo wins). Realistically this is a game as much to do with building a club up to be competitive once I have left as much as being competitive when I am at the club. 5. I am allowed to implement unorthodox strategies to help the cause of the Alentejo (explained a bit more below) Strategies and Tactics Early Game Try and achieve promotions, and build a style of play Work with loans and get players that will help the club move forward no matter the age Mid Game Start attempting to improve facilities Start building up a profile of player specifically looking at age, that can blossom at the club going forward in the long term Find ways to make money, buy or use the youth facilities to sign youngsters, develop them and sell them. Late Game Develop affiliates with other Alentejo clubs Send loan players to other Alentejo clubs, in the hopes that they can better their chances of promotion Maximise facilities to the maximum possible Look to build fanbase and stadium facilities Utilise spare money to redistribute wealth to smaller clubs in the Alentejo, by buying players at inflated rates, allowing those clubs to outcompete their division rivals. Current Trophy Standings What’s Next and What’s the post schedule Post Schedule – Likely be of each month of the campaign with an end of season update on who won what and update of the tables Game Data – We will be loading, all the district leagues of Portugal, as well as the top five European top divisions (English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, French Ligue 1). I am loading the non-Portuguese leagues to keep the Champions League as competitive as possible. Next up we reveal the manager and the club we will be starting at.
  17. The last time around in FM22, as nothing worked I had an open ticket with SI, and despite doing what they asked me to do nothing fixed it. So what I did was I did everything I had done before, with the game uninstalled, like deleting cache and preferences, but then I also searched for any folder that had SI as the name or FM23 and then deleted that then reinstalled and that seemed to fix it. The break seems to literally break something at all levels of the game for some reason, it ends up not just being a broken save game, it breaks the game, and you kind of need to wipe the games existence to get it back working. So that means deleting the game folder from steam, from documents, from AppData, both the user one and the one that is in public and then it worked again after reinstalling. I noticed the verification was quite long and that seemed to be the signal that it had worked. Yep, they were kind of wasted, but not really the journey is mostly what mattered. I have got a new challenge in mind, as for whether it would last a century not sure yet but it lasts a while.
  18. Thanks very much. It's a shame it ended when it did.
  19. IT HAPPENED AGAIN Well, I am amazed, but it happened again, at the exact same step in the journey. The save game broke again and once again it stopped me from loading or even creating a new game in FM23. I have somehow managed to get FM23 working again, something I was unable to do in FM22, when it broke at the same spot and then I was unable to play FM22 ever again. It is such a bizarre thing that I really cannot even speculate as to why the game breaks like this at this exact spot. It seemingly does not have anything to do with adding or removing leagues since it does not happen immediately into the new leg, it happens after a year or two have passed and it happens mid season, and normally on save of the game, or a reload of the game. It does not appear to be time related since last time in happened in 2140 and this time we got to 2150. It does not seem to be related to the countries themselves since last time I went from the Czech Republic to Bulgaria and this time I went from Slovakia to Romania. It is just bewildering. I am just glad I managed to get FM23 back working again, at least provisionally unlike last time. The long and short of it is, this save game ends here...the same way it ended last time, at the same step on the ladder. This challenge will allow no man to ever conquer it.... Thanks very much to all those who commented, supported, read and were enjoying the story. Sorry I couldn't finish this, but alas some things are never meant to be witnessed.
  20. Season 2148/49 It would be a little while; around a season or so before we found a job. A few jobs had come up but they were not suitable, and then suddenly there were two viable jobs. The first was in Bulgaria at Botev Plovdiv, one of the better sides in the country, and the second job was at CFR Cluj, the best team in Romania at this time. We opted for Cluj. They had had a bad season last season finishing outside of Europe, and the board wanted us back in Europe and challenge for the Romanian title. Cupa Romaniei Superliga Squad & Transfers There would be plenty of business in our maiden season. We would lose probably the two best players at the club in right back Dinu to Manchester United and Alexandru Roman to Paris Saint Germain. We would also lose a few peripheral pieces that I was happy to allow to go and replace. The general strategy was to where possible buy Romanian and make sure that we had plenty of homegrown options in most position. Naftanaila came in because we needed to field and Under 22 and I did not want to rely on many of the other Under 22s at the club who did not feel were ready, but this guy was ready and would improve. Monnier was a big signing for us, a striker at PSG, with a lot of potential but not many opportunities, we brought him in and he showed us what he could do with 40 goals this season and also completing the trifecta of most goals, assists and highest average rating, a rare feat. Celea was another striker we brought in as a direct replacement for Roman, he got his fair share of game time at 20 goals was a nice return. As mentioned youngster Naftanaila, did really well this season grabbing 31 goals himself. Radeka was a late signing in the winter window and he improves us a lot. In a short time he got himself 7 assists which is great going. All the other signings were solid Romanian players, many for the defence who could play a role in the team and reinforce us going forward Manager Thoughts It was really easy this season, not had a season this easy for a while. We walked the league seemingly twice, firstly in the regular season the in the Champions Playoff. We won every game of the Playoffs, which is a pretty great feat all told. The cup was very easy, we coasted past FCSB and then Arges gave us a little more of a challenge but ultimately we were never really in trouble. We will be in Europe next year. I would fancy us to go far in the Europa League but the Champions League is a different beast altogether. We will see if we can repeat domestic dominance next season, and hopefully we can pull off a few surprises in Europe. Manager Profile Summary
  21. Not a bad one, but I think the other reason why it is so quick is that I normally only have the single or two active leagues loaded.
  22. Instant Result for most of the less important games, and have a lot of tasks delegated to staff.
  23. Season 2146/47 We would indeed leave Spartak Trnava and that very summer two jobs that were very interesting became available. They were Slovan Bratislava, and Viktoria Plzen in Czechia. We were close to choosing Plzen, because they came back first but we hung on for a week and eventually Slovan would come in for us and they just seemed like a slightly better prospect and it was a league we were well versed in. The board obviously wanted us to get back to winning league titles and that was also our prime objective. Slovnaft Cup Fortuna Liga UEFA Europa League UEFA Europa Conference League Squad & Transfers When we arrived we could see that the team looked pretty great without too many weaknesses. We would however be required to replace people in winter transfer window as £100m would come in over that period and some of the key players would be sold to larger clubs around Europe. I would say that none of the transfers have done too amazingly apart from Jung Dae-Hee; the South Korean has really come in and added something to the team. The likes of Utera has also come in and done some great things for us up front. The others are probably still finding their feet. In terms of performances, in terms of goals the veteran striker Najafi was the man with 45 goals and mostly because he found himself promoted to the top man after Linder left. Although realistically the numbers that Freiberger has produced this season have been amazing, 20 goals and 43 assists, is an incredible return from left wing. Manager Thoughts It really was a lot easier being manager of Slovan Bratislava than Spartak Trnava, the team was so much better overall and we cruised to a league title although the points total was a little diminished for the chasing pack. The cup was a walkover as we won the final 7-0. In Europe we were very disappointing in the UEFA Europa League when we suffered a bit of problem early on with registrations and injuries, and we would find ourselves dumped out by Randers, but finding ourselves in the Conference League we never looked back and it was smooth sailing all the way as we made our home ground a fortress. We did enough this season to just end the leg, the Conference League win the necessary climax to the finale. We will not be moving on from Slovakia and onto UEFA13, where last time we never ever made it out of as the game crashed and would never be playable again. Hopefully we have better luck in UEFA13 where we will either be in Bulgaria or Romania. UEFA14 COMPLETE Manager Profile Summary
  24. Season 2145/46 Cesko-Slovensky Superpohar Slovnaft Cup Fortuna Liga UEFA Champions League UEFA Europa League Squad & Transfers Not too many transfers this year, as we brought in Mohamed Sanogo in defensive midfield and Julien Lejuene up front, and they both produced results for us. Jonsson once again hit 60 goals in a season, the guy is a goal machine for us. ten Have continued his excellent form from the wing with 26 assists this season. We let a fair few players leave but no one that I felt we would miss much. Manager Thoughts Another good season as we captured three trophies, including the Czechoslovak Super Cup, which counts as just another domestic trophy. Again it was pretty close, we only won the league on the penultimate fixture as Streda lost surprisingly to Trencin handing us the title, but we would have beaten Slovan Bratislava final day anyway so it would not have mattered anyway. Again the cup final was very tight as we narrowly beat Streda 2-1 in the final. We would get as far as the Quarter Final in the Europa League but Newcastle United were able to come back at home against us and knock us out. I am considering moving on from Spartak Trnava at this stage since I think a major European victory is very remote and the dwindling points for domestic success is going to make each season worth less. Currently the Slovan Bratislava and Zilina managers are under pressure so it is possible that one of those jobs become available, but very likely I will resign and see where we resurface next time around.
