Great read so far. I too enjoyed Netflix series and to be fair, your story depicts football management pretty close as it is in real life - always evaluating and finding the most sustainable way for the club, trying not to overachieve and put finances under risk, and finding the best value players that suit formation and tactics

Cheers mate, hopefully have an update in a couple days!

Unused Subs: Forster, Bitton, Bolingoli, McGregor, Christie

I rotated the squad heavy here and handed a first team debut to reserve captain Kerr McInroy, in which he impressed. I think he could do with the first team football so I will be trying to loan him out until the end of the season. The start of the show however, was Karmoko Dembele. Despite being 5'4" he scored a perfect hat-trick.

Facing St Mirren who are toiling at the foot of the table gave me the chance to rotate the squad heavily. Liam Lindsay came in and had a solid debut. Mo Elyounoussi and Vakoun Bayo both managed to get on the scoresheet. Ryan Christie is finally back up and running, netting a brace to re-find his pre-leg break form.

A few days later I kept largely the same starting XI with them having impressed. Ryan Christie got another double cementing his spot behind the striker. Boli Bolingoli is also close to nailing down the left back spot. Nick Powell made his debut but failed to overly impress, Liam Lindsay however had another good performance.

  5. Back after a short break. We seem to be really struggling against the top sides. When you look at the wage budgets you understand why. I don't think we'll land a playoff spot as a result but we are not ready for the Premier League anyway. Another year in the Championship would probably be good for the squad.

The fans don't seem to be so pleased with the double Stoke swoop. I was quite pleased to get them in. Liam Lindsay looks a good value replacement for Jozo Simunovic, he looks a better player but lacks Jozo's physicality. Nick Powell is a player who I've always liked and is regularly linked with the club. He can also cover as a striker meaning I don't need to bring one in.

Unused Subs: Bain, Ajer, Elhamed, Griffiths

It was looking to a bore draw until impact sub Karamoko Dembele set up Odsonne Edouard to seal the 3 points in the final minute of the 90. I'm hoping this is a partnership that can come up with a few more goals in the coming months.

Unused Subs: Bain, Bitton, Dembele, Arzani

An exciting 45 minutes followed by a not so exciting 45. This has always been something that has annoyed me about playing FM.

Unused Subs: Forster, Frimpong, Bitton, Ntcham

A good win to progress in the cup after a couple weeks off. It gave me the chance to get some players back up to match fitness and give some rested players a run out. Up next is a home tie with Elgin.

This was a good win on the road. Again I rotated the squad a bit through suspension and to get guys up to full fitness. The result means back-to-back fixtures with 3 different scorers.

There was a lot of interest coming in for wonderkid Karaomoko Dembele. I had to tie him down on a decent contact to put them off thankfully it worked and should see him settled for the next couple seasons at least. I also arranged a pre-contract for Jackson Irvine, a handy player to return to the club. He counts towards out homegrown quota and has had a decent career down south since leaving. We have the option to bring him in now for £1.2m but I don't think I'll take it up.

Love it, complaining about a disallowed goal after a 5-0 win lol

Really liking the style of your update, it is the sort of update that inspires me if I am going through a period where my interest drops.:)

I used to lean towards Rangers as a neutral but that was many years ago, a proper neutral now and following this, don't think you are gonna have much competition dominating the domestic comps.

Thanks! Aye domestic competition doesn't ever seem too hard, squad management is the difficult part. We play a lot of matches so balancing the squad size with that and keeping hold of your best players while trying to keep them happy is they key.

Another win taking us to 12 points ahead of Aberdeen in 2nd and 15 ahead of Rangers in 3rd.

Odsonne Edouard has taken the lead in the race for top goal scorer with 12 so far. Ryan Christie also made his long awaited return from a leg break in August, hopefully he can add to his 7 goals as the season goes on.

Another massive Glasgow Derby win. Ultimately it should have been more but the FM second half curse kicked in. Odsonne Edouard's hat-trick took him to equal top of the scoring charts. Both him and Leigh Griffiths lead the way with 10 goals despite the fact we play with one up top.
