Starting XI: Forster, Frimpong (Sent off 35'), Ajer, Julien, Taylor, Brown (c), McGregor, Forrest*, Rogic (Elhamed 35'), Johnston (Elyounoussi 63'), Edouard (Griffiths 81')
Unused Subs: Bain, Bitton, Hayes, ShvedJames Forrest and Kris Ajer both scored in the Glasgow Derby as we opened up the gap at the top to take a 2 point lead. Now the job is to keep that spot until May. We are going for the treble.

1st October 2019 - UCL Group Stage
Starting XI: Forster, Elhamed, Bitton, Julien, Taylor, Brown (c), McGregor, Forrest, Ntcham, Elyounoussi (Johnston 69'), Edouard (Griffiths 69')
Unused Subs: Bain, Frimpong, Simunovic, Hayes, RogicWe really chucked this match away just before the break. Quickfire goals from Madrid killed the tie off. They were simply just too good. I went into the tie with optimism because of the Juve result but that was short lived. We still sit 2nd in the group despite Juve beating Lille 7-1.

Hibs also held Rangers to a draw meaning we go level on points. Our next league match is at Ibrox in the battle for top spot.

We should have had the perfect month. We conceded 3 injury time goals - I'll have to address this going forward. Had we not conceded them we would be sitting in the play-off spaces. Overall it was a good month, hopefully, we can kick on from the back-to-back wins.

Great way to win the league. At the end of the 2017/18 season we beat Rangers 5-0 to seal the title and it is one of the best games I've been to. It should have 8 or 9 in all honesty. This is turning out to be a very fascinating thread. It is a very believable manager trajectory.
Quite funny that Murty is Rangers manager again.

I've just started skimming through this today. This is where I got to - looking forward to getting through the rest of it. I must admit I got quite gripped getting to this point, even to the point of hoping Celtic nick a point to secure the league. I must be really missing Scottish football.

This has been mad already. I've never seen a financial situation like it in the game. I take it the budget they gave you was massive compared to the league? Andrade looks a player.

Unused Subs: Bain, Bitton, McGregor, Forrest, Johnston, GriffithsAccies gave us an easy scare but we hit back immediately and went on to win the match comfortably and stop that 2 point gap expanding. It is quite satisfying that we now have 11 different goal scorers from 20 outfield players who have played for the first team.

Unused Subs: Bain, Bolingoli, Hayes, GriffithsAnother fixture we left it late. It looked like we were going to be falling further behind Rangers after a tricky trip to Perth. Odsonne Edouard stepped up once again to claim the 3 points. A lovely goal from a Marian Shved through ball.

Annoying waste of money on overpriced transfers and a ridiculous wage package too by the sounds of it... Sunderland owners just don't learn! You've had a great start, especially so if your first eleven hasn't really changed. I'd take that! I've said this a few times now but I just don't really see anyone in the squad capable of turning this club around. It's a massive rebuilding job.
I fear my Sunderland game is at an end. I was promoted (my first for a long, long time) in 2nd place barely surviving a few wobbles and have started to cut down the playing squads. I got one prospect through the youth intake who is already getting poached and will be leaving for peanuts. I was forced to extend the contracts of McLaughlin (I do like him), Maguire, and Flanagan (possibly Baldwin too) and I'm still absolutely barebones. I just don't have enough confidence in the players who I have or the confidence that I can even bring in adequate squad players. The good news is that we've had a takeover, almost exactly the same financially as yours but different investors. The money is there but we have to be smart because as you said there's the likes of McGeady coming back, plus an aging Leadbitter and Watmore who has to go too. The whole point of the save is to bring Sunderland back in a sensible and sustainable manner so they never have such a crisis ever again.
This season our football has been horrible. We controlled the ball but nothing that I did had us scoring goals or creating chances on a regular basis. We were just a bit too ponderous and wasteful, often relying on a bit of brilliance. It's a shame because the challenge is a good one and there are quite a few players in the squad who I've grown quite attached to: O'Nien, Dobson, Grigg and Gooch to name some. Just not sure that I have the stomach for it!
It's extremely annoying and pretty much goes against the point of the save. I'm trying to buy sensibly and rebuild over a few seasons. It's a massive rebuild so I think the Championship might take 2/3 seasons to get out. I think I have the core of a squad good enough. Dobson, Hume, Mamba, Mavadidi and the youngsters from Man Utd could all cut it at upper Championship level. McLaughlan and Maguire have been my top performers so I'll likely keep them around at least another season. There is no point in spending any more than £2m at this level as you are likely to find a better free or loan for the same wage budget.
It a slog of a save but will be worth holding out. I want to rebuild in the Premier League and then get poached for a big rebuild at one of the top sides. Man Utd would be interesting, or who ever are underperforming at the time. Obviously Newcastle will be out of the question.
On 12/06/2020 at 21:49, WhoAreYa? said:I've had an extremely busy window but it's interesting to see a couple of familar faces between our games in Alan Forrest and George Honeyman. If you're interested here are my dealings; fingers crossed they are good enough! Just putting it on hold now to make sure I still want to progress.
Out: C. McLaughlin (mut termination £60k); Wyke (£150k); Watmore (free); Lafferty (free); Smith (free); Winnall (exp loan); Semanyo (exp loan); John (exp loan); Burge (loan); Plus gutting the U23 squad and staff on frees (£150k profit).
That leaves the following squad:
*Honeyman and Smith are still in progress
Goalkeepers: McLaughling, Smith (free)*
Defenders: O'Nien; Perry Ng (£350k); Willis, Lynch, Baldwin, Flanagan, Obita (free), Hume
Central Midfield: Dobson, Embleton, Power, Leadbitter, Mumba, Scowen, Honeyman (£475k)*
Wide Midfield: McGeady, Gooch, Maguire, Forrest (£90k January)
Strikers: Grigg, Hepburn-Murphy (loan), Balogan (loan.
Very light for the Championship but hopefully I've got just about enough cover. Lots of money left over for January if needed. Total wages are around £200k per week despite the turnover and having a very structured wage will (excluding McGeady and Leadbitter).

Losing Ryan Christie for at least 3 months is a huge loss. He has been our top performer so far with 7 goals. Luckily we are very strong in centre midfield and Tom Rogic or Olivier Ntcham can step in to complete the midfield trio with Scott Brown and Callum McGregor. I expect to have Christie back around the busy month of December and bed him back into the side.
20th August 2019 - UCL Play-off Leg 1
Starting XI: Forster, Frimpong (Elhamed 63'), Ajer, Julien, Taylor, Brown (c), McGregor, Forrest, Rogic, Johnston (Elyounoussi 77'), Edouard* (Griffiths 77')
Unused Subs: Bain, Bitton, Ntcham, ShvedOdsonne Edouard netted a hat-trick to take his tally for the season to 7 goals in 8 appearances. The pick of the goals being a lovely wighted pass from Mikey Johnston slotted in by the left post. Just when it looked like Leigh Griffiths was staking a claim to the spot. The away leg is the last week of constant two fixtures per week so I will be able to play a more settled squad through September.

10th August 2019 - Scottish Premiership
Starting XI: Forster, Frimpong, Ajer, Julian, Taylor (Hayes 57'), Ntcham, McGregor (c) (Bitton 79'), Forrest, Rogic, Christie, Edouard (Griffiths* 79')
Unused Subs: Bain, Elhamed,, Elyounoussi, ShvedA big win over Hibs to put us top. Again it took to late in the first half to take the lead. Odsonne Edouard slotted home a penalty. Up until another penalty on the 82nd min the scoreline far from reflected the run of play with us having an incredible 14 shots on target at this point. Leigh Griffiths rounded off the scoring, bagging himself a brace and a place in the XI in Finland.
14th August 2019 - UCL Qual 3rd Rnd Leg 2
Starting XI: Bain, Frimpong, Bitton, Julian, Hayes (Taylor 81'), Ntcham, McGregor (c) (Elhamed 54'), Forrest (Shved 54'), Rogic, Elyounoussi, Griffiths*
Unused Subs: Gordon, Ajer, Christie, JohnstonWe made 5 changes to the starting line-up from the first leg. It feels like the squad is really gelling now and gaining a bit of momentum. Leigh Griffiths is continuing to give me a headache choosing a starting striker. Another early goal from Griff to ease us into the fixture, putting a free kick into the top corner. James Forrest quickly doubled our lead with a close range effort. The second half I was able to rest a couple more regulars. Marian Shved came on for his debut and netted from outside of the box.
17th August 2019 - Scottish League Cup 2nd Rnd
Starting XI: Bain, Frimpong*, Bitton (Ajer 58'), Julian, Taylor, Ntcham, McGregor (c), Shved, Rogic (Christie 90'), Elyounoussi, Griffiths (Bayo 58')
Unused Subs: Gordon, Elhamed, Forrest, JohnstonWe went 1-0 down after Marvin Bartley converted a poorly defended free kick. We immediately hit back up the other end of the park. I decided to give Bayo a run out as he has 8 in 5 for the reserves so far. It proved to be a good decision when he came on to put us in front. Fullback Jeremy Frimpong put in a MOTM performance and scored his first goal for the club sealing our place in the next round.

7th August 2019 - UCL Qual 3rd Rnd Leg 1
Starting XI: Forster, Elhamed, Ajer (Bitton 58'), Julian, Taylor, Brown (c), McGregor, Elyounoussi, Rogic (Ntcham 86'), Christie*, Griffiths (Edouard 58')
Unused Subs: Gordon, Frimpong, Hayes, ShvedThe Fins prove not to be as tough a test as previous rounds. Fir Park hero Ryan Christie stole the show again with an 11 minute 2nd half hat-trick, incredibly scoring twice in the same minute. Griffiths got the opener early in the first half, his first competitive goal of the season. This gives me the opportunity to rest some key players in the 2nd leg.
9th August 2019
A tough, nonetheless manageable draw. Celtic have history with Maribor at this stage of the season and they just eliminated Maccabi Tel Aviv so I would be keen to avoid them. However they lead the tie with a 1-0 away win.
10th August 2019
Scott Brown picked up an injury that'll see him out of the next 3 fixtures. Including the all important 2nd leg vs HJK. The 4-0 lead gives me confidence that a rotated squad should see the tie off.

3rd August 2019 - Scottish Premiership Flag Day
Starting XI: Forster, Frimpong, Ajer, Julian, Taylor, Brown (c), McGregor, Forrest, Christie*, Johnston (Elyounoussi 73'), Edouard (Griffiths 73')
Unused Subs: Bain, Elhamed, Bitton, Rogic, NtchamAway at Fir Park can prove to be a tricky fixture. That it did. Things were looking positive when Odsonne Edouard broke up the park in a magnificent solo run to put us ahead just before the break. Despite our dominance Mark O'Hara headed home from a corner to level it with less than 10 mins to play. It was Ryan Christie who spoiled the home sides celebrations with a volley just inside the area.

July 2019 - Pre-season, Early CL Qualifiers & Staff Recruitment
Pre-season was successful. The squad got up to match sharpness in time for the first round of qualifiers. I thought both draws were pretty tough. Outfits from Poland and Hungary are exactly who you want to avoid in early rounds.
The loss to St. Pauli was a shock, I picked a reasonably strong side. Ferencvárosi dampened the mood in the month's final fixture however the objective for the month was to progress in Europe. We did. Up next a trip to Fir Park.
Staff Recruitment

I have made the profile as similar to his FM20 profile as possible. The only notable changes was I had a few spare points so I improved the tactical stats +2 due to him becoming in my eyes a better tactical this season and his motivation +3.
The brief is simple. Try to win 10-in-a-row keeping the squad together. The hard part will be keeping the squad together. Fraser Forster will demand a massive wage to stay at the end of his loan. Likewise Mo Elyounoussi. Odsonne Edouard will be subject to bids every window so keeping him for two seasons will require some big wages. The likes of Kris Ajer, Callum McGregor and Olivier N'tcham will be subject to bids.
Going forward from that. We need a long term contingency plans for them, and a successor to Scott Brown.
Welcome to Lennybol.

Overall results have been decent considering we just came up and pretty much still have the same XI. The Norwich result was disappointing considering we lead the Premier League side 2-0 at one point, throwing it away in the 2nd half.
The board takeover went through and we have a healthy £16m balance - shame they are going to blow around £10m on two terrible deals. Josh Dasilva is very versatile and young, other than that he had a poor season last season and will be our highest-paid player. Abdou Harroui is another that fails to wow. The outlays far outweigh the benefits. Frustrating.
