Well that turned out a lot better than i could hope for The last 10 games I played many of my youth graduates as I had nothing to play for. Biggest contribution to my success was reading every single scout report (hundreds and hundreds) in pre season, to buy the best I could for what money I had!

I can't show you the mentoring groups anymore because I closed them all down to stop any further decrease. I've actually noticed Browne's determination has fallen from 18 to 14!! The progress graph below shows him at 17, but he was 18 before that. And when you say controversy isn't covered under model citizen, what do you mean by 'isn't covered'. Do you mean that can't be causing it? Perhaps he's just knocking around with an agent who is asking him to be controversial?

Corr I probably need this. I have a player who is described as a model citizen. I thus set him to mentor a group. On the first month, I got this response in the picture. Has anyone experienced similar. The player does only exert medium influence over the group. Perhaps that's why?

How do I tell what the characteristic is that has changed? I can't see any attribute change, despite 'the squad's less desirable characteristics have had an effect recently'. So if it's a hidden attribute, that is observable by my assistant being around the team, why doesn't the assistant tell me which characteristic he is talking about?

I had Brentford, and when I asked for a new one, they were replaced by Spurs. Are you sure the game allows for more than 1 senior affiliate?

How do I ask for a report in the data hub which excludes players who haven't played a certain number of games or minutes?

I'd like some help from fellow players on how to deal with promotion to the Championship when you are as the team report says 'the worst squad in the league'. For context FM23 is my first fm since FM20 so maybe I am inexperienced compared to the reader. In my first save I took over AFC W and managed to get them promoted to League One in first season. In my first season in League One I somehow managed to finish just outside the playoffs, despite my board expecting me to battle against relegation. In the following season I managed to win the league on goal difference despite having a pretty average team. In fact, that might be kind. A few loan players and my goalkeeper saving every single penalty he saved that season (6!!) really helped to ensure we are promoted. My challenge is this: - I have 2.6 million pound less in the bank due to the board trying to expand the stadium (but then the local council blocking it anyway), so my financial situation isn't brilliant. I can have a 139k per week wage budget as long as I set my transfer budget to £0. Or I can have a 4.9mill transfer budget if I set my wage budget to 44k per week. And obviously I have many options in the middle. In the bank I have 742k. - I can't sign any players outside the UK because none of them get work permits. The French/Spanish/Estonian etc players I go for have low world reputations and don't have the necessary points to obtain work permits, and I can't keep flitting away 25k+ on each application and appeal. - I have 5 players maybe good enough for a relegation avoiding first XI, whose contracts are expiring, but they want double or triple their current wages to sign on. They are 'good EFL League One players' and want like 5-9k per week basic wage. Am I out of touch in feeling that's over the odds, especially when they were on 2-3.5k last season? - I am no longer able to offer some of my backroom staff contract extensions on the some wages they are currently on. The board limit me to offers that mean significant wage reductions so they won't renew their contracts. Has anyone been in a similar position where they have entered the Championship and they have either 0 or 1 player that is Championship standard? Should I offer what I deem over the odds to my League One standard first teamers, so that they stay at the club? I can see there are a number of players whose contracts are expiring at other clubs. However, I have to wait 30 days to avoid paying a transfer fee as it's still early June. I will try and sign the best possible loan players from the Premier League U21 teams, but often I can't afford the wages of the best. And even my senior affiliate Tottenham sometimes ask me to pay the wages of the players. I'm excited about the challenge and appreciate any advice or thoughts from the community. It's probably quite a realistic simulation of real life if AFC Wimbledon did the same. I'd expect them to go straight back down! I'd love to prove the media, the board and the fans wrong

If you are feeling this strongly, it just goes to show how great a game FM is and how great an impact on your life FM has had. Maybe try and take up golf or something if you won't budget on playing fm23

I've got to the end of the season and now the board have once again announced the plans to increase capacity and the 1.9mill has been taken straight out of my budget. Fingers crossed this time the council don't block it

How do I stop a player from going on a pre-season break? He's been out with a broken leg for most of the season, and he's now back from injury so it's probably the time for him to step his rehab up rather than go on a rest for a few weeks.

FM23 is great Steve, so I'm confident FM24 will also be great. Like you I don't mind playing an old version and until recently fm2020 (I'm in season 2067) was the newest version of the game I had played!

I came across this thread by searching for 'woodwork' because I am too experiencing this. In the data hub, it looks like I can only have a shot map with 5 matches in, so not a small enough sample size to be worth screenshotting. Following this thread with interest.

Oh absolutely does. I've uploaded it. It has my full name and AFC Wimbledon in the title. It reproduced 100% of the time from my 5 tries. Cheers.

I did a search for 'council block' and 'ground expansion' and nothing came up, so hopeful this isn't a duplicate. About 6 months ago the AFC Wimbledon board said they were expanding the stadium to a new temporary capacity of circa 10.5k (an increase of over 1k). I seem to recall that the cost (over 1 mill) was taken from my budget, as the finances dropped to near 0. Fast forward 6 months later, to the end of the season, and the council have blocked the expansion. However, the board state they are satisfied the goal has ben achieved?? A) Does this expansion cost come under 'ground maintenenace'? If so, it looks like I've spent 3.2 million on this, which would suggest that maybe the board spent the money before getting the planning permission? Is that the case? B) looks like this could be a bug with the text in the final line?

How do I have a look at how effective my team was at set pieces LAST SEASON. Stuff like goals from corners, goals from free kicks, and goals conceded from free kicks and corners.....in a helpful league table so I can understand how we did against league average.

If a goalkeeper has -0.46 xg prevented per 90 minutes, does it mean: A: the keeper is letting in a goal every other game that he should be stopping B: the keeper is saving about a goal every other game that goalkeepers at this league wouldn't normally save C: B: the keeper is saving about a goal every other game that goalkeepers anywhere in the world in FM23 wouldn't normally save D: something else....

But for a goalkeeper, the number in brackets is not scored. It is instead saved.
