transfer activity is accurate as soon as a league/nation is playable. view only is nice to have to see some stats

That is a shame because I suspect most users here don't have machines capable of playing than many playable leagues. I normally select a handful of playable leagues and a handful of view only ones.

I also noticed that while there are much less transfers in view only leagues, but still some, manager movements are practically non existent in them. I am in the later part of the season and was looking at the manager movements in different nations. There has been quite a bit in the playable leagues. All the view only leagues have had zero.

  2. I can't remember ever seeing one given in real life to a player who stayed on his feet in the penalty area (even if he was being pushed or kicked). Yet in FM you see quite a lot of it. Is that still the case in FM21 or do players actually go down in the box?

What about penalty kicks? Do they look any better?

  3. Goalkeepers getting injured in games or receiving red cards should be fairly rare occurrences anyway, so it's good we don't see them often. I'm sure people would be complaining if their goalkeeper got injured or sent off 4 or 5 times in a season (unless he was particularly aggressive or injury prone, and in that case it would be an issue with that particular keeper).

  4. This isn't a major issue, but something I have brought up in the past and wonder if this has been improved in FM21.

In training, you are not (or were not) able to put the entire squad on holiday with the click of a button. In the summer they would normally go on holiday anyway, and return for pre-season, but in the winter in some leagues, if they have two or three weeks without a match, they'd often still be training, so I'd try to give them a break.

The trouble is, you can't just set all of them to be on holiday until a certain date. You can do it individually, but that takes a bit of time, going to each player and giving him a holiday until a certain date. One way around it, but not completely around it I later found, is to go into the squad's training schedule and just set every slot in each day for however long you want, to 'rest'. The problem with that is, the game doesn't seem to recognise 'rest' in the same way it recognises holidays, and even if you set the whole squad to rest for a week, you'll still get training reports about who performed well and badly in training, even though none of them are supposed to be there.

  5. This is a topic I have discussed with people here before. The match ratings for players are very odd at times.

For instance, a goal brings a players rating right up, even if they have not played well. That goal, even if they don't do much else for the rest of the match, keeps their rating high.

I also notice teams in general tend to have higher or lower ratings together. Of course there can be many instances where that happens in real life. Generally if a team is playing well, it is because most of the players are doing their job well, and vice versa if they are playing badly. However it can also be that a team does badly but there are one of two players who can be singled out as having done pretty well. I don't remember seeing cases in FM where a team has generally done badly but one or two players were better than the rest, so for example most of the team were in the low 6s but one player had an 8. The same in winning teams, where most of them had high 7s or 8s but one player was particularly poor  and only got a 6.2.

Another nuisance, and this is one I am noticing recently, is that the rating goes down when your player misses a chance, and not necessarily a sitter, just a shot that is off target. Sometimes I'll see my team creating very little as a whole, but my winger seems to be the only one actually crying to do something, and manages to create a few shooting opportunities for himself but misses the target. His rating'll drop lower than the other players, because his shots were inaccurate, but actually I am pleased with him more than the others. At least he is lively and is trying to do something.

    They never get injured

    They never get suspended

    They never get bought

They never get replaced or dropped due to bad form

They’ll always just retire at whatever team they started in

From my FM19, I've had goalkeepers injured in training. I've seen goalkeepers transfer to other clubs. I've seen goalkeepers dropped from starting line-ups too. I've had a goalkeeper get booked in a match (for time wasting I think) although not receive a red card (doesn't mean it hasn't happened in other games).

So the only thing I have not seen is a keeper get a red card or get injured in a match. As for the last point, I have not played enough years in any save to be able to check that.

  7. One thing I have noticed, and I haven't had the chance to play FM21 so do let me know if this has been improved in the current ME, is that there is a real focus on team play but less focus on individual ability. Of course that isn't to say that if you have a better individual player they won't perform better in a position than another, but I have noticed it particularly when attacking. Almost all the goals you score tend to be team moves. That's good that your team puts together good moves, but have you ever seen a player with tremendous pace and acceleration attributes knock a ball past a defender and sprint past them in FM? I have sometimes seen players use pace to go past somebody with the ball, but not knock it past them, as fast players often do in real life. Have you seen players with high dribbling and creativity attributes perform step overs and twist defenders inside out? I don't think I have. It would be great when you have players with great pace or dribbling skills in your team, to see them use this in matches.

I suspect the OP meant how long do SI have the licenses.

Yes exactly, and how long we are able to buy a game before the license expires. When a FM game is released, the previous version is still possible to purchase for a while, but for how long I wonder? There seem to only ever be two versions of FM available to get, the current one and the previous one (at least for some time).

  9. @vukigepard what version is that in?

Thanks @Junkhead. I know some people have said when they want to be sure of success they just use Gegenpress. They basically feel it is pointless to think up a formation and style to play, when you can just choose Gegenpress and be sure to get wins. I certainly remembered this being complained about in FM20, but wondered if it was the case in other versions.

  10. I just feel that FM is being overly cautious. I don't believe any club would complain because you have a running track in your stadium and they have a running track in theirs. They don't own the rights to running tracks. There are plenty of stadiums in game that don't look too different to the real ones, if you use your imagination a bit. I don't see those clubs complaining.

As for hairstyles, I have already suggested a simple way this could be solved. Give us more options to edit a player's hair in the editor. You can already do a lot to a player's image in editor, so how about a few more hairstyles?

  11. So you're basically saying you need to have a league set as playable to have a decent amount of transfer activity in it? If you don't select a league or have it running in the background, you get very little transfer activity from that league.

I think I remember having a look at Legia after doing a couple of seasons elsewhere, just out of curiosity to see what players were still there and who they had bought, and their squad was basically the same as at the start. This is troubling that the squads of many clubs from many countries hardly change over the course of many seasons, because you do not have those leagues as playable.

  12. For the first time, in order to make FM (19) run a little bit faster, I tried to have only the country I am playing in set to full detail, and then picked quite a few other leagues to be in the background, so I could at least see what is going on there and then later, when I felt like possibly managing in another league, I would add a few other leagues in full.

Normally when I play, I have at least the top leagues in full mode.  Being at the beginning of August in this format though (with just one league in full and others in the background), I have realised there is much less transfer activity going on in general. Usually by this stage there have been some big transfers, but so far the highest transfer overall from anywhere is about 11 million euros.

So my question is, does more transfer activity take place in leagues when you have them in full mode?

  13. Thanks @Grifty but that I was referring to real in game players, rather than players FM creates, where I know some do indeed have afros yes.

Some people who playing the beta version now must have picked a team to manage with at least one or two players with afros or long hair. Did they have them, or are bald and short hair still the only two hairstyles?

@FrazT I am not expecting 'accurate' pictures. But the Nou Camp In FM couldn't look less like the Nou Camp in real life. It makes it practically impossible for me to play games there with the 3D match engine, and I generally prefer to use that. It would also be nice to see absurdities like taking away tracks from around the stadiums that have them (Monaco or Hertha Berlin as an example), stopped.
