I like seeing it appear in my inbox, and I take a quick glance at it, but I never change anything as a result of reading it.
Mind you I never change my formation, or any player's position, role, or duty (it stays at whatever the game tells me is their best one). If a team wants to come and try and beat me, they will have to make the changes, not me!

Off the top of my head, from CM99/00:
Javier Saviola
Tonton Zola Moukoko
Kennedy Bakircioglu
Zlatan Muslimovic
Andri Sigporsson
Simon Davies
Matthew Etherington
Sharbel Touma
There were many more, but these were my 'go to' players that I would try and sign every time I started a new save.

I think if you go to the 'Training' => 'Rest' screen there is a drop down menu to select training intensity for each player, and I believe sending on holiday is one of the drop down options (in FM19 and 20 anyway).

Thanks @phd_angel! Makes sense. I actually woke the next day (with a fresh outlook I guess?) and decided against carrying on a new career as Boca and am sticking with just 1 FM20 save (progress on my games are slow enough as it is - ha!). Cheers for replying!

Hello all. So this is for FM20 but I assume it relates to all versions. I'm managing in Brazil and loving it, but this evening thought I would start a new career in Argentina (keeping the South American vibe going!). I selected the same manager profile as my Brazil career before selecting my team (went for Boca Juniors). I noticed that my preferences/settings had 'copied' over. No problem at first, but I changed the currency to Argentinian peso's because it was showing as Brazilian Real. However, I then went back on to my Brazil save and noticed the currency was now peso's too. I'd made other changes in preferences that didn't seem to carry over, so my question is, why is the currency not remaining correct between the 2 saves? It's not a major problem as I can switch back and forth, but just wondered if I had done anything wrong or is it because I am, in essence, the same manager profile on both?

Only a couple of little things, but for my Ponte Preta career on FM20 I made my manager be fluent in Portuguese (because he had learnt it so he could manage in Brazil), and the currency I use in-game is the Brazilian Real (because why would I be dealing in pound sterling whilst managing in Brazil?). Adds to the realism slightly - ha!

I admire your commitment @cutedinazor. I still play cm 99/00 and love it! Although speed is not an issue for me as FM19/FM20 are soo much more in depth, I go back to CM just to remind myself how quickly I used to progress through matches!

Smarter AI managers indeed
Ha! That's what I thought! Maybe the mod makes them too smart for their own good?

What’s Brazil like to manage in? Never been there myself in game but have read that there’s a lot of games each season.
Yes I believe there can be alot of games once you start qualifying for continental competitions. I'm in Serie B at the moment so it's not as bad. The state championships make it a very unique career. I would recommend it to anyone.

Having played CM/FM for over 20 years, I have always stayed in the comfort of European football and MLS but I fancy something different. Going to give Colombia a try.
Same here. Basically only ever managed in England or Scotland. When FM20 came out I wanted to do something different. Chose Brazil and loving every minute so far.

Wasn't this a song by The Clash?
Yes you're right. @dudi287 if you loan there will be trouble, but if you sell there will be double.

yea it's a bit much. Which team you managing? I started with Operario from Serie B and got them up to Sudamerica and built them up to a be a good contender for the title before I stopped playing that save.
Ponte Preta. My aim is to make them the dominant force in Brazilian/South American football...I have a very long way to go - ha!

I did on my FM19 career with Spurs as I wanted the squads to be 'as they were' at the start of the season, but I didn't in FM20 as the transfer windows in Brazil are alot different (longer, plus 2 different types for domestic and foreign players), and I wasn't sure what windows would be disabled!

This happened by accident but what I do now to handle rotation is I first decide who my main 11 is and save them as Team A, I do the same thing for the next 11 and save them as Team B and then I do one for Team C. The rest get thrown into the Reserves unless I need to call them up.
I do exactly the same! Also playing in Brazil on FM20 but still in Serie B so fixture congestion not too bad at the moment.

Mentoring is a very slow process. Don't expect changes overnight.

Im not perfect ? Its just to gage what people are using . If you dont use 3D then its commentary or 2D isnt it ? Or did i miss something
Sorry probably didn't explain well. As I only use 2D (not interested in anything in 3D) I wasn't able to submit my vote for '2D Comprehensive' as there wasn't a suitable answer to give for question 2 as I don't use 3D at all (and you need to answer both). But as you say, it's only to get a broad picture of what people are using.

Can't submit my vote as never use 3D so can't pick an option for 2nd question. 2D Comprehensive.
Edit: So this will skew the results to show 3D is most popular (it probably is to be fair) but this poll won't reflect the true picture. Maybe add a 'don't use 3D' category for 2nd question? So far your poll shows no one using 2D comprehensive highlights.

I think I read somewhere on here that 'playing time' is linked to starting matches. So coming on as sub isn't viewed by the player as actual playing time.

Ponte Preta! The oldest (playable) club in Brazil. Formed in 1900 they have only 1 FM recognised trophy in their cabinet. You start in Serie B so you would need to build the club up too.

@BryDid you ever report this as a bug? The same thing happened to me. In mine the 'results' from the knockout phase got added to the league points - so for example a team got 3 extra league points for winning their quarter final (I actually assumed this was how it worked - ha!). I finished 4th in the league, but after the knockout round was 5th or 6th I think (I lost in the QF to Sao Paulo, who went on to win it).
To be honest I quite like it, even if it isn't correct!
However, the winner of the knockout phase (Sao Paulo) are listed as the overall winner for the season, so that bit isn't bugged.

Sorry I know this thread is a few months old, but in case @scottmulligan is still interested in playing FM07, you can buy external cd drives that plug in to your laptop via a USB.
I use one to play CM 99/00 on my wife's old laptop, so they do work! Not too pricey either.

Can confirm game continues with no issues, and is saving in the new 'games' folder on my D: Drive.

Right, after multiple loading and re-loading of FM20 and my save file, I think I have resolved the issue.
I really didn't want my save files on the C: Drive, so changed the default save location under 'Preferences' to be my D: Drive location:
D:\Pete\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2020
This created various sub folders (games, editor data etc...). I then saved my game in the 'games' folder. Now when I reach the main menu I see my latest save game, plus 'Save Game' in-game works correctly. Phew!
I've not progressed the save yet (clicked 'continue') but assume nothing will go wrong (seen some posts from people saying their game is crashing when pressing continue, but may be different situation to mine). I'll try later tonight to make sure.
One question: Is the above 'the solution' or is a more permanent fix in the making?
Thank you for your time and help!

Sorry guys. Had a spare 5 mins (we take forever to get out the door!) so loaded up again and my save game is not appearing on the main menu again...and 'Save Game' not working either...
So not a solution...
Any further updates @Kyle Brown @Neil Brock?

After playing FM12 for 10 years

I understand where you're coming from. I upgraded to FM19 from CM 99/00! It was a bit of a shock at first I tell you! I soon found out the areas I wanted to run myself (e.g. training), areas I wanted to delegate (e.g. scouting), and areas I had no interest in (e.g. social media/medical centre). I really enjoy playing FM19 and even bought FM20 too! Think that's me done with buying new versions (well maybe for the next 20 years or so - ha!). Hope you get your head around FM22, and there is no shame in returning to FM12 (I still play 99/00).
