  1. Transfers - Summer

Prior to my arrival, the club signed 8 players, most notably journeyman striker Christian Beck. Who has close to 150 goals in some 400 appearances. I only had about a 500 euros left in the wage budget, and I managed to bring in two players to strengthen the squad

Hamidou Maiga was our first signing. The Malian CB joined from TSV Hartberg on a free

Our second signing of the summer was Dominican fullback Adrian Malmol, who joined us on a modest 5$ a week contract. He is no where near good enough for this level, but he has a german passport and is the type of player we will see plenty off as we attempt to knockoff the minnows from our list.

Interesting idea. At first glance I'd thought you were loading 211 leagues and wondered how big a room you had for your super computer. :D

    Good luck.

    Hahaha I wish

This is a pretty cool idea and its going to be a challange and if you do complete it, you will be very few people in the world that have done that

Im not a fan of simming all the games but play the game how you like good luck you might need it :p

It is going to be challenging indeed. Hopefully we cross the finish line tho

  3. Hello and welcome to my new serie, 211 Nations, One club.

This is the challenge that i am setting up for my next career. I haven't managed in European lower leagues yet so I wanted something different when I embark on my journey and this is what I've come up.

I will takeover a club in the lower leagues of Germany and lead them through the pyramid into the bundesliga, and ultimately winning the Champions league title. I chose Germany due to their generous foreign player rules.

In this career I must feature at least one player from all 211 FIFA nations. Below are the rules for this challenge

    1. A player must feature in 3 league games in order to count (This is to stop me buying an Indonesian free agent and play them 5 minutes just to count them). Alternatively, one European appearance (CL, EL, Conference) in the tournament proper (not qualifiers) will count due to the reputation of these tournament.

    2. A player may count for a maximum of one nation. If I get an Indonesian player with Vietnam as second nationality, he may only count for one, and in a situation like this we always count the first natantiolity

    3. Second nationalities will count if player's first nationality is already present. Going back to the Indonesian player, let's see we've already had a player feature from Indonesia, we will be able to count Vietnam.

    4. A player who represent a national team may not be counted for a second nationality. Let us say we get a youth intake player with Syria as his second nationality and German as his first, we count him for Syria, but the player ends up becoming really good and he declares for Germany, we must remove him from the table and no longer count him for Syria. This will be difficult to keep track off as players move and grow and declare for a NT but I will do my best.

    5. The challenge ends with winning the CL AFTER all 211 nations have been featured. If the CL is won before the 211 nations have featured, another CL win is required to finish the challenge once all the nations have been featured.

    6. I will use the editor to make myself unsackable, I will also use it for some recording stuff for this series.

    7. I will most likely update every half season or every season.

    8. Player attributes are not masked cause i can't be arsed dealing with it.

    9. Most (if not all) games will be instant simmed

    10. I will be using an around the world database in order to populate the game with players from lesser known nations. I will add and remove leagues as I see fit. But will probably only start with Germany and Austria

    11. I will also use the realism mod, its my first time using so interested to see if it makes a difference.

  4. I agree. I'm the type of player that enjoys the scouting and squad building part of the game more than the matchday, so whenever I had a long save I would only play matches during the windows, as I set up my new team to play the way I want then I holiday to the next window because I cba playing all the games it gets very repetitive. But ever since I downloaded the Instant result skin my enjoyment has gone significantly up because I can holiday from one game to the next and still catch up on the inbox and play the line up I want. One thing missing is is I cant choose the subs beforehand, which I think should be available in the match plan. I think with adding Instant result the match plan should be revamped entirely as it is not detailed enough in my opinion. There is the roles issue you mentioned and the subs are the two main issues that I forsee

Impossible to say without a file.

I can name at least 3 reasons issues could occur, but non will help you because if it is not the real reason I am sending you into the brush without a compass.

Fair enough. I've given it another go at creating it in the editor. Moved it back to summer 2021 (Sept-Dec) instead of summer tournament just to limit test. European minnows like Malta and Azerbaijan showed up, still nothing from the majors

  6. I am trying to make a tournament where all 211 FIFA members participate. It is a straight knockout tournament. I will describe the timeline of my attempts, hopefully someone can help me diagnose where I went wrong.

    Attempt #1

I took the intercontinental cup (CWC twice removed), made it not extinct and changed the format. I went to the teams section and added the numbers of teams each confederation sends, it was set for bring best national team, continent Europe, and maximum 55 teams.

The format at this point was as follows

176 teams play a straight knockout, 88 teams qualify to the second round

the 88 teams are joined by 40 teams to make 128 teams, they play a straight knockout

64 teams reach this round, they then play a straight knockout

32 teams play a regular WC format with GS and KO

Gave it a go and found that the format was good, but no European nations joined. This tournament took place between July - Dec 2021 so I suspected it was because of the Euros. A lot of non FIFA nations where playing.

    Attempt #2

Went into into the editor and made the WC extinct, changed the dates into the July-Dec 22, and changed reputation from 140 to 200. Gave it another go and it worked perfectly. Spain got knocked out in the very first round, Lewandowski was top goal scorer followed by Halland, and Belgium won the competition. I think I still spotted some non-FIFA nations in the early rounds, but It seemed that every European team made it. Now I just wanted to find someplace on the calendar and play it alongside the WC. I also wanted to remove the GS and make it straight knockout.

    Attempt #3

Back into the editor on a fresh database, create a new competition and have it played in July-Aug 2023. Same steps followed as attempt 1 but removed the group stages and replaced it with another round of knockouts, set the teams to 211 as thats the actual number of fifa members and adjusted the stages accordingly. Reputation was set at 200 and then gave it a go. No European nation showed up. All the South Americans and everyone else showed up with their best players and there were no European teams. Even in the teams sections in the tournament, the European nations were listed, and in the injury leaderboards they were also showing, but not in the tournament. I checked the schedule of major nations and no one had any games during the months of the tournament. Some had games in the months of June and September, but no clashes. The Asian and African teams had clashes with their actual tournament, but the game rescheduled their games so they were playing both at the same week essetintly.

    Attempt #4

Went into in the advanced editor, I've never used it so I'm going in blind but I adjusted the prize money for tv and participating and stuff like that. Some small European nations started showing up, but still no big nations.

    Attempt #5

Went back into the advanced editor and did started freestyling alot of stuff, most notably I made Germany and Austria co hosts, and added in 2 slots for host nations in the teams section.  Went into the game and same result as attempt 4, the final was held in Cameroon so something went wrong with hosts thing as well

    Attempt #6

Back into advanced editor and I went into teams and put bring specific team and choosing France, Italy and Spain. I also continued to freestyle. After saving and testing and getting that sweet valid, i went into the game, and now the competition doesnt ever appear, a number of attempts followed and still the same result. The competition is valid in testing but doesn't show up in the game.

So I'm going to give it another go tomorrow starting from scratch. And my main questions is how do I get these European nations to play in the competition. Follow up questions includes what would cause a competition not to show up if its valid and how do I make sure the final is actually hosted on the host's stadium

  7. Season Three: 2023-24

Ibn Battatua remained unemployed as he was unimpressed by the offers made at the end of his time with Shabab al Ordon, it seems a Jordanian league title was not enough to land jobs ahead of more established names in the region. Midway through October, Moroccan team Al Maghrabi Al Fasi sacked their coach, who had them flirting in the relegation zone.

With little money for January additions, Battouta used the tools at his disposal to steer the ship safely away from the drop zone and finished the season in a humble 12th position.

    League: 12th position
Cup: knocked out prior to arrival

Top Goal Scorer: Frank Guaiza 18 goals

  8. Today is when Ibn Battuta's journey starts, having set his sights on winning every league title in the Middle East, Ibn Batouta found himself sending his resume to any place that will take it, and in a surprising move, the 22-year-old got his first management job in Jordan, with Shbab Al Ordon

    Season One - 21/22

In Battuta's first season in Jordan, he took the league by storm with his exciting and attacking style of play. Despite lining up in a deceiving big man little man 4-4-2, Batouta's side didn't really play direct football, opting for controlling possession instead. Brazilian CM Douglas Valle was converted to a striker, linking up with local boy Rizq Bani Hani who provided the aerial threat. However defensively the team was struggling with keeping clean sheets, and if the attackers weren't on their day, the team couldn't depend on their defenders to steer them to victory, as many points were dropped against sides lower than on us in the table.

Jordanian League The team finished third in the league, just missing out on an Arab CL spot. Perennial mid table side Al-Salt were unstoppable this season, losing only twice and winning their first ever league title.

Jordanian Cup An admin error that occurred prior to my arrival saw our registration papers arrive at the FA's office later than the deadline period, as such we were disqualified from the Jordanian Cup. Al Salt beat x to cap off a historic season where they win the double.

Top Goalscorer: Douglas Valle scored 19 in all competitions.

Arab CL: Did not qualify. Saudi side Al Faisaly shockingly made the final, and beat Egyptian giants Al Zamalek to win their first title.

    Season Two 22/23

The season started with a blockbuster of a deal, Iraqi international Mohanad Ali joined on loan from Duhail, the Iraqi striker has been struggling since he joined Al Duhail three years ago. He has been plagued with injuries and struggled for form, joining an attacking side was a move done by Mohanad to try and resurrect his career, from our end we were more than happy to bring him on, even if he tanked our wage budget. Some free-agent signings to bolster the defence and we were on our way. Douglas Valle moved back into CM, and despite him losing much of his goalscoring output this move allowed Mohanad to start up top to try and deliver, and deliver he did. The lethal partnership of Mohanad and Rizq saw Shabab al Ordon finish the season with the most goals scored across the Jordanian League.

Jordanian League: We ended the season in the first place, 7 points above Al Wehdat, the biggest team in Jordan, giving Ibn Batouta the first league title of his career.

Jordanian Cup: We had a great run in the cup after submitting the paper work in time. We reached the final before losing to Al Faisaly, who made up for their shortcomings in the cup final last season.

Top Goalscorer Mohanad Ali scored 33 in all competitions.

Arab CL: Did not qualify. It was a Saudi-Egyptian affair in the final once again, this time Egyptian giants Al Ahli won their first Arab title since 1996, defeating Saudi champions Al Hilal in the final.

Following the success of the second season, the board offered Ibn Batouta a contract extension, with a spot at both the Arab and Asian CL booked for next season, the club hoped they can build on their success from this season. However the young manager had other ideas, and handed in his resignation. He went down to Aqba and took the ferry to cross the Suez Canal, headed for North Africa.

  9. Hello fellow managers, I am Ibn Battuta, and I have started an FM career, trying to win every league title in the 22 members of the Arabian football federation in addition to South Sudan, which is technically not Arab but we **** with them so they're included. I had the database downloaded and ready to go but noticed one thing missing, the Arab Champions League, so after about 5 hours of youtube tutorials and messing around with the editor, I managed to add the Arab Club Championship into the game.

    The Arab Champions League

The Arab CL is a real tournament that was recently revived under the leadership of a Saudi sheikh, I had some issues with how the tournament is run, so I decided to edit it a little bit in the fantasy world of mine, so this is how it looks like in the game.

    Tournament format

16 teams qualify directly to the group stages, while 32 teams play a home and away qualifier to reach the group stages. Then it is a regular round-robin tournament with two-legged knockouts and a one-legged final in a neutral venue.

Here is where things get fun, the draws are randomised, so that means you have some years where its a bloodbath in the qualifiers followed by straight pumpings in the group stages because teams from Yemen, Djbouti, Somalia etc qualified directly, and sometimes it is the other way round, but mostly it is a mix both. This was done to ensure that the countries that are big now don't widen the gap too much between them and lesser well off nations. Also was done in the hopes that money can trickle down to the rest of the leagues.

    The Prize Money

In real life, the prize money for this tournament is very high for clubs not in the gulf region, but not big enough for those clubs. So we end up in a situation where teams not from the gulf or the few financially rich clubs in North Africa don't really care about this tournament because it's technically unofficial. However, the prize money is significant enough for the rest to take it seriously. In this simulation, Arab sheikhs met after the Arab cup, and due to its unexpected success, they realised if they pumped millions into this and made it the premier competition, they could get a lot more back in sponsorships and tv viewings. So I put the prize money to be really high, to account for increasing budgets over time as I didn't know how to make the prize money change from year to year.

I don't have the exact numbers on me, but a deep run into the QF or SF will net you about 50M. In hindsight I should have probably not made the prize money that outrageous. But you live and learn.

The prize money adds interesting possibilities for me, however. I managed in these leagues in FM before and it was incredibly easy taking any club to the top, hopefully, this tournament makes it difficult for me to win, especially as time moves on and many different clubs get to go to the Arab CL and use that money on players. It took a lot of time but I am starting to see clubs spend some good money and many regulars have upgraded their stadiums/facilities which is another thing I wanted to see.

    The way I play

I play FM a bit differently. The way I do it is I play through the transfer window as I set up my team and tactic, once I'm settled and the window is over, I simulate most of the games until the next window. I understand that that's not the way many people like to play, but personally, the actual matchday is one of my least favourite things to do. I do play all cup finals, and if the title race is close with a month or two go I takeover as well, but if not I just sim, because I found that over a season the results of u simming or not are very similar, after all, they are the same players. I make sure that my assman uses the same tactic.

I actually played through the first 15 seasons already, and I just realised that I wanted to write this. This my first story and personally I like to keep it short and to the point. The first few updates are going to be from seasons I already played, and as I figure out the best way to write them i'll catch up to the game season and take it from there.
