  1. Go to "Competitions" to find the league you want Click on one of the clubs and press Ctrl + A, then press the edit button on the bottom right hand corner I done the Eredivisie for you, same method applies to other leagues. transfer_embargos_252167.fmf
  2. I submitted a support ticket with a link to this thread accompanied with crash dump files, it should make its way to "Crash, Technical and Performance Issues" subforum of the "Football Manager 2024 Bugs Tracker" eventually.
  3. A new feature for FM24 is the ability to let player pick between "Original" and "Real World" game modes, where in "Original" game mode player have all their players arrived or left the club already at the start date and in "Real World" game mode player's players would arrive or leave at the date that they did in real life. A new feature for FM24 pre-game editor is "Past Transfers", positioned under "Contract" after you double-clicked the player's name This feature allow us to set transfer in the way that it works as expected in both "Original" and "Real World" game modes, which is different to the "Future Transfer" feature that was in FM23, "Future Transfer" makes it work as expected in "Real World", but not in "Original" where the player still arrive at the inputted date rather than already in the roster at start date, unless the start date is later than the inputted date. This "Past Transfers" feature sound very nice doesn't it? Except it makes the game crashes sometimes. After a few days of heads scratching, I identified a few scenarios where the game would crash after modifying a player's "Past Transfers". But, how do we make the "Past Transfers" feature work as expected? After looking up the ones that are in the database, a pattern came up. First, under "Club Contract" you change the player's "Club" in to the club that you want him to arrive in, you also change the "Date joined" and "Date Last Contract Signed" to the date that you want him to arrive at. After that, move to the "Past Transfers" section and you need two things for it to not crash: How he arrive to the club that he is at right now, or how he came to be unemployed (With date) How he goes from his current club to the club that he would arrive at If you only have 2, the game will crash. The problem is even if you create 1, the game would still crash. If you want it to not crash, you would need 1 to be existed in the database already. I included test files that have minimal changes aim to demonstrate and recreate the scenarios that I mentioned, but also to show that it got no relation with rule editing. test1 is when it works, I made the player "Tam Chi To" transfer from club "Yuen Long" to club "Eastern" where it works as expected in both "Original" and "Real World" game modes. What I want to demonstrate from this example is how it is suppose to work, even an inactive league and a semi-pro team status would still work, making them unlikely for the reason of crashing. To test it, load Hong Kong league only and be the manager of club "Eastern", you could see on "Transfers" he would arrive on Sep 22 2023 on "Real World" and in roster on "Original". You can try wipe out his "Days At Club/In Nation", "Playing History" or "Non Playing History", I did and it still works which means they got nothing to do with how it works. test2 is when it fails, I made a copy of player "Tam Chi To" and set his "Club Contract" and "Past Transfers" the same as test1 and the game crashes if you play on "Real World" game mode. test3if is when it partially works, which gives us a bit more insight into how it works, I made the player "Leung Pak Ho" move from club "Eastern" to "Rangers" on Aug 1 2023, it works on Jul 31 2023 start date on both game modes as expected, but it crashes if you play on "Real World" game mode and the start date is after Aug 1 2023. If my testing after the publication of this topic leads to new theories to how it works or disprove the whole hypothesis, I would update under this post. Good luck on editing! test1.fmf test2.fmf test3.fmf
  4. I have a advanced rule Hong Kong mod which rework the Hong Kong League structure to be as close as real life. However, after using my mod, you can no longer register free agent outside of normal transfer window, inside free agent transfer window, outside of registration window, but since "Players signed on free transfers can be registered at any time" option is selected should be able to register. The tick is greyed out hence not able to select and register. When I don't select my mod before I start a new save, it works miraculously. So there must be something wrong with my mod, I first guessed that maybe this is hardcoded, so I test my theory by starting a Hong Kong advanced rule clean and change the setting of the league randomly and see if it still works, and to my own dismay, it still works.(By it works I mean I can register free agent) This leads me to think that most likely(not 100% sure) that it is not hardcoded. Then, I guessed maybe is the fixture rules that is the root of the problem. I copied all my competitions (Competition type advanced rule) to the clean file and use some workaround to get a clean Hong Kong (Nation type advanced rule) and it fails to work. So the competitions must be the culprit I thought, I looked at the competitions version of the league that I have problem with and saw that it is earlier version than the clean advanced rule file, so I thought it might be the version that is causing so much problem. To test this out I redo the whole advanced rule part of my mod by Remove Rules and Add Nation Rules again and hand copy all the settings from my original rules to the new one. (Can't use copy and paste function in editor as it somehow removes the information about version, file path, I am afraid those have effect so I hand copied) After all those trouble it still doesn't work. But when I use copy function copy the league to the clean file I stated before it somehow works.(League Fixture not working after copying and also some detail lost, maybe important to note) I even copied over my Hong Kong (Nation type advanced rules) it still works. So I thought it might be league fixture's problem and I saved my redone mod (The one I hand copied, I use this as my main mod afterwards) to a new file and removed the League Fixture and add the league schedule back (Copied from clean file) and it still fails, so it mustn't be League Fixture's fault. I even removed all other leagues that I made other than the one that I have problem with to see if it is other leagues causing problem and of course it is not and it still fails. I have officially ran out of things to text and quite puzzled by the problem itself, can someone please enlighten me? My guesses for the root of problem are: (Likeliness based on intuition) - Is it because I have 3 of the same league to cater for 2 different years and 1 for the rest till forever (High likeliness) - Is it because I have 2 of the same league that have the same file path that is causing the problem (I kind of tested it to be not true, low likeliness) - Is it there something wrong in the league the way I set it up (Very high likeliness) - Is this a bug in the game (Low likeliness) - Is this a problem related to league fixtures (Low likeliness) I think the problem most likely lies in the way I set up the league and I usually don't resort to using forum but I had tried to fix this problem for days and well the result speaks for itself. 香港足球.fmf
  5. The ranking level is my mistake, I didn't copy over all the settings that I did in my old file
  6. I tested and you are right, but I intended it to be 0 relegation places for first two seasons. I figured out that if I set the relegation rules, number of relegation places as 0, it works out the way I intended it to be, weird. Thanks for the help anyways!
  7. I will try this tomorrow and see if it works I will look more into it thanks
  8. I created another file with the nations rule default, advanced rules and randomly edited something and the result is same as when I have no mod where I can register Free Agents. This makes me come to the conclusion that most likely free transfer can register at any time is not hard coded I also tried to not change the fixture rules, but copy all my leagues to this file, if the fixture rule is hard coded, this should work, yet it failed like my backup file. I suspect the leagues being on old version is the problem, so I tried to remake the database in the newest version and not touch the fixture rule. This is my newest understanding of the problem after working about 7 hours on this today
  9. This doesn't happen when I disable my mod Both of those free agents are of same nationality, where both of them are domestic players, so there should be no restriction on registering them, I am also using the same club in both scenarios
  10. To give context to why I remade the nation rules, it is to try to change 香港超級聯賽(league) into free transfers can be regiestered at any time, because I didnt use the original fixture rules and I was trying to fix it I open up a new save, go on holiday until transfer window is closed while the free agent transfer window is still open and signed a free agent after I accepted and a day had passed I try to register, u know after u can see coach report on him The tick is greyed out, which shouldn't happen given player signed on free transfer can be registered at any time
  11. I get this error when I test rules in 香港足球.fmf, which is a remake of 香港足球backup.fmf after the game updated. In 香港足球backup.fmf, there is no error when I test the rules and both database are very similar, but the fixture rules are different and 香港足球.fmf's leagues are using a updated version I suspect that either I made a mistake when I remade the leagues that I didn't copy over everything important or this is a bug that is in the new version but not in the older 香港足球.fmf 香港足球backup.fmf
