I think it's because right-sided players are on the left and vice versa.

Obviously, the UI is a thing I'll have to wait until I personally use before fully judging, but the first impression isn't good here, IMO. As others have said, it looks like a console/tablet version and very watered down.

Of course, you'll have to actually use the new UI to see for yourself, but on first look, I am not too impressed with the Portal screenshot at least. Looks really basic. I honestly don't even know what I am looking at in tiles screenshots. Is it supposed to be a player page?

I have gotten fully invested in managing a proper Athletic Club game this FM, and it has been my most enjoyable FM save ever, partly because of the cantera, but also because Spain is a great country to manage in for the reasons you've mentioned. I just wish SI would fix some of the annoyances regarding registration and salary caps though. It has also helped me to focus more on tactics than ever before. I used to be a simple "set it and forget it" type of manager in FM, but having to develop a tactic around the newgens has been interesting, and difficult at times. I am at the point know where I place top-three in the league consistently but Real Madrid have won something like seven or eight LaLiga titles in a row, and I just cannot seem to get close to them.

Hopefully Nico stays around for one more season at least.

Agree, managing in Spain and I have seen so many similar frustrations regarding B teams. Sad reality is that it doesn't effect England, so don't count on this being fixed.

For me, Vivian had his release clause triggered, but he allowed me to negotiate a new contract despite that, which he fortunately accepted. I don't know what I would have done without that. I wasn't so lucky with Unai Simon. He just got a new contract IRL too, and like Munian did previously, didn't even put a release clause in there, so I wish the game was a bit more realistic in terms of measuring Athletic player's loyalties. It's not even certain that Nico leaves this season irl, but in FM he is always gone after the first season unless you are really lucky. Fortunately, Julen has been great for the most part for me in goal, so Simon hasn't been truly missed all that much, but still.

Except, you know, when the media announces it. Nobody knew Lewandowski was signing with Bayern until the very day his contract ran out with Dortmund, right?

Even if it is "realistic", just based on how many emails the game already sends you about worthless stuff, it should at least send you one letting you know that a player has accepted a pre-contract with another club, regardless if I was going to sign them again or not. It's kinda nice to know where a player is going.

Essentially, the focuses don't return players who don't have transfer interest. When it comes to U18s, since most of them have no transfer interest until they turn 18, your focus won't return anything. It is very stupid, and I don't know why they changed this and especially why they didn't tell anybody, but it caused a stir in the bugs forum. It's supposedly to stop the user from hoarding wonderkids. You're better off just manually scouting the U18s of whatever teams you want. Very tedious. Really great decision by SI here. Yes, my issue was that I can't see who is registered for my B-Team, and I do not have the option to look at registration for that team. I needed to call up a third keeper as one of mine got called up, and so I tried to call up a U23 keeper, but I kept getting "this player cannot be registered for this match" next to his name. Like I said, I think the issue is because my B-team is not in a playable league. Although, I was able to call up players in my first season (they may have since gotten relegated from a playable league, I didn't check). I loaded the league in, but I won't be able to test this out until the next season. I really want to take better control of my farm teams (playing with Athletic, so it's pretty important with them) going forward and I didn't realize they were in an unplayable league until now.

I started a proper Athletic save last weekend and have been loving it so far. I tried to do one earlier in FM back in December, but it didn't stick (I think because some of the ratings weren't all that accurate to real life), but after the CDR win, I wanted to start again. I matched results for the first season, including the CDR win, and we finished 5th in the league (likely where they will finish irl, so I was good with it). Nico Williams left for Newcastle, who activated his $97 million release clause, and they did it after the Spanish window was already shut, so I couldn't do anything with the money and was left without an impact player for the first half of the 24/25 season. I bought Aimar in January though and after a slow few games to start, he's been on fire lately, and scored a hatty in a recent game. I've been trying to work out how to get the best out of both him and Sancet in the same team. Sancet was playing my number 10 role before Aimar came in, but because Aimar is probably a better playmaker than attacker, after some tinkering, I decided to put him back in the number 10 role for now, and moved Sancet back into a CM role. This has caused my early-save crush Benat Prados (been such a pleasure to have in the team this season) into a more defensive role or onto the bench though, which I don't like too much. Vesga is still more than capable for a DM role and I don't want to drop him right now either, so Prados is usually the odd man out, but I try to play him whenever I can. We've had a lot of fixtures between Europa League and the CDR (which we are in the finals of again-- against Real Madrid though, so I think we lose), so he is still playing a lot. I think for season three, I want to try Aimar wide left in the advanced playmaker role, and Sancet back into the CAM role as an attacking midfielder. I am just hesitant to try it now late in the season. I am also hoping Osasuna get relegated so I can buy Moncayola on his dirt-cheap relegation release clause of about $6 million. I don't really need him, but at that price, you kinda have to. Anyways, that is a lot of rambling for just about two seasons. This thread has been such a great resource, ad playing as Athletic has really gotten my interest back in the game. Playing as Athletic was what initially inspired me to get into FM back with FM 22, but I think it was too overwhelming a save for me to start out with, and I just never did it, but I am glad to be getting into properly now. Are you planning to manage in the US or China? Do you care that those leagues are up to date? If the answer is no, then carry on.

I also will say that I have had seemingly better luck when I switched to region scouting, which to be fair, was mentioned by the dev in an earlier comment. Why it suddenly works better than nation scouting I have no clue, but that has been the case for me at least, although I haven't run any specific tests or anything about it, and it could just be placebo. It's still not perfect, but I am at leats more satisfied with it now than I was before.
