Petition to continue the draft regardless. Might mess things up slightly but that's a risk I'm willing to take as someone selecting in the next 4 rounds

@Gizzy what if one of the players selected doesn't get called up to the tournament? Are we just assuming it's someone who has a realistic chance of going? Obviously these first rounds don't matter in that sense but by round 6 i imagine it might i remember a past tournament where players who didn't get called up had to be replaced in the draft.

I know it's probably a lot of work, but I like the idea of a draft where every single round is a random order pick. So luck of the draw might gift someone 1st pick every round, or 24th every round, but you could also go from 1st to 10th to 20th etc.

Does it create the potential problem that last pick gets the same turd every 2nd round? For example, let's just agree that Georgia is the worst nation there and nobody wants any of their players except for a very obvious one. Round 1 said star goes, round 2, nobody picks Georgia, so the last person gets a Georgian. Round 3, much the same, but it is the opposite end of the draft gets landed with them. Then in Round 4, it's back to Player A getting a crappy Georgian This can then happen again in Rd6, 8 and 10... And in rounds 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11, Player B could be getting the other half of the Georgian national team.

Ultimately every World Cup is largely forgettable and will be mostly remembered for a few iconic moments rather than as a tournament as a whole. Every tournament has that one major association imo. 06 was Zidane, 10 was Nigel de Jong's assault on Xabi Alonso, 14 was 7-2, 18 was really forgtettable imo, Croatia's run probably the most remembered part of it all but maybe someone can think of something more associated, idk. Point being, this WC will be remembered for Messi winning it. The rest will be largely forgotten.

Stones has never played on the left side of defence. It might just be coincidence, i don't know/can't say for sure, but he's always been our RCB. Kompany/Laporte/Dias/Otamendi have played LCB when Stones has featured. That might be tactical thanks to Pep who likes Stones' passing range and ability to drive into the channels and play the ball down the line, which would be more difficult for a right footer at LCB, but also perhaps it is because Stones himself just isn't good/comfortable at LCB. I honestly don't know. But there must be a reason he doesn't ever play LCB. Even at Everton, i don't recall Stones ever playing on the left side.
