  1. This feels like a match with no obvious favourite and both sides needing a win so it should Be Like A Cup Tie and probably actually be won 1-0 through a set piece
  2. I can remember Tyldesley talking about France changing their conditioning so that they hit their physical peak later in the tournament, although this was when they were leading against Switzerland in the last Euros.
  3. This genuinely means we are more likely to draw or lose against worse teams, it's not even the pragmatic option.
  4. No team has ever won a tournament and been good to watch, FACT. Lots of teams are dire to watch and don't win tournaments either but that's irrelevant.
  5. Matterface makes me nostalgic for Clive, then I hear him commentate on a match and remember how much he used to annoy me
  6. Turkey have been ok but another team that don't look like doing any damage in the final third.
  7. "David, do you know of any teams who put in lots of crosses to little effect?"
  8. Assumed this would be the 8pm game, think Portugal will win this and look quite good
  9. For all Georgia's good work their final third play is actually pretty bad
  10. France were better, against a side with better players, than England were last night. It's all relative.
  11. I don't agree, goal difference when one team might be rotating in the third game seems less fair as a decider than a match where both teams are definitely taking it seriously.
  12. You can kick the goalie when you've kicked the ball too far to win pens for a while now
  13. Loads of people do that tbf, the national team themselves actually lean into the Holland branding
  14. Noticed in the build up Joe Hart said Lunin had paid the "highest price" for his mistakes, which seems a bit extreme for goalkeeping errors
  15. You know Nike don't care about you when they give you their old templates
  16. He has nowhere near the same physicality as Gallagher and would do nothing in a game like yesterday's
  17. He was also so bad he got cheered off one game, he wasn't good all season long. I don't think Southgate is too wedded to players, it's his caution within games I find frustrating. The BBC had a graphic where four of the 10 games with fewest shots (or very similar numbers) featured Southgate's England, it's how he always approaches tournaments. I don't think he considers it overly defensive.
  18. Play Bellingham at 8 and scrape a 1-0, or play a bit better and still draw 1-1, and it's "why aren't we putting the best player Bellingham further up the pitch where he's great for Real Madrid!!!"
  19. And Gallagher replaced Trent to run around and get stuck in and the team were still pants. It's not like Trent was the only issue
