  1. My first save with Arsenal, I signed Haaland, de Ligt, felix, and more top players I quickly got bored as it was too easy.

So I started again and am trying a youth only save. I have allowed myself to try to sign/steal new youth prospects from other clubs but more often than not they're not interested.

First season. We finished second , second season we won the league, third season we finished 3rd and won the fa cup. we are doing well, got some good youth coming through and £600m in the bank.

Annoyingly a tycoon has just taken us over and wants me to sign high profile players 😡😡😡

First time I've ever had a tycoon take over any of my clubs on fm and it's on a youth only save 😂😂😂

  2. Hi guys. Looking for a new laptop to mainly run fm22 on. Looking at around £600-£650 or cheaper if a better model. Not too bothered about the best graphics, I play using dots anyway.

My current laptop is not the fastest with running 5 leagues with about 20k players database which usually give 1 or 2 star for processing speed on the league choice menu page. Any improvement on this will be a bonus.

I have found these so far which would be the best or do you know of any better options?

  3. Nice save so far. I'll keep a tabs on this.

I have just started an Ajax save after getting bored of my Arsenal save. I struggled to get into the Ajax save initially and only managed a week into preseason but after seeing you youth only challenge I thought I'd give it a try also.

Signing and scouting players is one of my favourite things to do and I've never tried a youth only game before so it will be an interesting change of pace

  4. I have been using this tactic in my arsenal save and I have seen some great football. We started off not so good found it hard to score, but once the players gelled and got used to the tactic it has been really good. We are currently on a 45 game unbeaten streak and won our last 10 games in a row.

Sitting pretty at the top of the league. I am really enjoying watching the football this tactic produces

  5. Being an arsenal fan I'm loving this thread. I have also an Arsenal save going on at the moment. I am in my 3rd season doing well.

I have just started using this tactic and I am loving the style of play it really is suited to the arsenal players. Congrats Ozil more great work. :applause:

Coincidentally to your signings I had already signed Felix and De Ligt at the start of the season. I also have Haaland from last season, I have tried this tactic with Haaland in the f9 position but it just doesnt work. I have had to shift him to RW instead of Saka for the moment, hes scored 3 in his last 2 so I might end up retraining him to IW.

The tactic works so much better with Odegaard as f9. Felix on LW is also awesome.

What do you think about retraining De Ligt to Cm as DLP? Tempted to try him and Rice as the cm partnership. Or would that be a waste not having him as CB?

  6. Hi guys. My laptop has died recently.

I've been looking around and found this

    https://www.box.co.uk/NX.A1KEK.007-Acer-Aspire-5-Intel-Core-i3-8GB-RAM-256G_3289777.html

This is a little more than I'd like to spend but interested to see how this would perform with fm22?

Would it run comfortably with plenty of leagues loaded and a large database?

  7. I have just started my second season and I have a situation that I need advice with.

    Here is my team

    Gk. Leno

    RB. Trippier

    Lb. Tierney

    CB. Stones

    CB. White

    Cm. Rice

    Cm. Torreira/partey

    Lw.  Aubameyang

    Am. Grealish

    Rw.  Saka/pepe

    Cf. Haaland

I signed haaland at the start of the summer window 2nd season. Part of his contract was a promise to sign a defender. It was locked in so couldnt get rid. On the same day he signed I signed Stones so thought that would do. Now I am coming to the end of the summer window at start of season 2 but his promise hasnt been fulfilled.

I am happy with my squad and dont feel we need another defender but should I sign one anyway to keep haaland happy or risk upsetting him?  I dont want him to want to leave after just signing. I have transfer kitty money to buy a defender we just dont need one really

I said in my World Cup review it would be between us and Iran for the Asian Cup. I wasnt wrong and we only slightly edged it with one of their players scoring an own goal from a corner.  The next day I resigned, I currently do not have a job, my rep is 75% so I am hoping I can start to attract bigger clubs to give me a chance and start racking up some trophies

South Korea World Cup 2034 Review

This years World Cup was hosted by us, I felt the fans were quietly optimistic that we could turn a few heads being on home soil. The FA wanted us to perform well and wanted a 3rd round appearance as a minimum. Lets see how we got on.

    Group Stage.

Our group consisted of Sweden and Equador. We were ranked 12th in the world higher than both our opponents so I was confident we would qualify.

We comfortably beat Sweden 3-1, Sweden only had 2 shots at goal and scored with their only shot on target. Our second game was a tighter affair but I never felt in danger of losing. It took a penalty to give us a win

Our second round against the Ivory Coast, we dominated really but just could not score. It needed a dreaded penalty shootout to take us through

The FA wanted a third round appearance to be happy and they got thir wish. We met Holland and I was sure we would be going out. But in a closer game than I thought we needed to go to extra time to get the win.

So to the quarters and we faced Brazil. I thought we got lucky against Holland, and did not think we would see a repeat here. Brazil are just to good, #1 in the World. But it could have been a different game if our early goal would have stood.

Who would have thought we would see a world cup final between Iran and Mexico????

IT is now July and we have the Asian Cup coming up in Jan, I cannot wait. I hope we can win it first time but am concerned about Irans performance in the World Cup and they won the Asian Cup last time round. It will either be us or them who win it. I was offered the Spain, Turkey, Portugal and USA jobs after the World Cup I would have been tempted any other time but I need to get this Asian Cup out of they way.

@lukefox44@Safe Hands I am very much that poacher as we speak! Haha. Taken over at Sundowns and i'm picking all those players up. I need to head down to South America, but unsure which country! Don't fancy a long season in Brazil, but I love the players that come through. Hmmm.

@MShingDid you leave Leicester in the end? Really didn't look like you were far off making that challenge for the title!

Yes I left after the Europa final. I havent played through the world cup not been on much.

We came close most seasons but our form would never last. The teams above us were just too strong.

    Leicester City Season 2033-34 Review

I think I said in my previous post, this season would be my last at Leicester City. Now I have reached the end of the season I still feel that way. This season was all about winning a cup after realising I just could not compete with the big 4 teams when it came head to head or spending power.

    LEAGUE

    20210203205150_1.jpg.32b8c6630660ca962da219786259d885.jpg

Different season same old story. A fifth place finish and Europa Conference qualification for next season, or whatever that competition is? At one point we were second about halfway though the season and the board wanted to readjust our season goals I almost went for title challenge but decided to learn from my mistakes of previous seasons and not be too ambitious so I stuck with Europa League qualification. As you can see I am some way off from the top clubs.

    EFL Cup

This was my main goal this season. I wanted this cup then I could leave for pastures new with at least one accomplishment. Could we do it? We had a pretty easy route to the semi final where we met fellow Premier league mid table opposition Everton. I fancied my chances!

    Semi Final Leg 1

I couldnt believe what  I was seeing. We just kept throwing goals away. A game I was confident in winning, especially at home we just gifted them the win. We had to pull out all of the stops in the second leg

That was it. Chances gone, we did not offer any kind of threat during the game. I almost resigned on the spot but thought otherwise. In the final Everton got beat by Man City 3-1, who would have probably beaten us anyway as I have never beaten them yet.

An easy path in the early stages, it didnt get interesting until the Semi Finals. Our opponents? It was time for revenge, non other than Everton again

An easy win for a 1-0. It felt tighter than the stats suggest and at 1-0 there is always that danger of conceding . We had done it, we had won a cup like I had set out to do. Its just a shame it does not count towards the challenge. But it should do my rep some good/

A change this season from my usual star striker Sam Tol. This season he was slightly injury prone, but sill scoring 23 goals. it was close. Grant was signed on a free transfer asfter his AEK contract expired, now he is workth £60m and my top scorer and one of the top average rated. He started off being a bit of a super sub, but after covering Tols injuries and lack of form, Grant forced his way into the team and his goals were vital to our success.

    Whats next?

Well I will definitely be resigning I have the World Cup to look forward to this summer with South Korea and we are the hosts. Hopefully we can take advantage of this and upset a few teams.  I'll post my World Cup review soon

    Leicester City Review 2032-33

After just missing out on the League last season. I was hopeful we could go one better after strengthening the squad further. We started off well up til halfway through the season but then star striker Tol got injured for 3 months and we struggled losing pretty much all of our away games. Nothing  I tried could turn our fortunes around. We only just about hung onto 5th place, qualifying for the Europa League.

    20210118212209_1.jpg.6185f9bd342fd08ce2cd116e213a41d8.jpg

5th Place finish, about where the media predicted us to finish but after last season I was disappointed. Nothing doing in the cups, knocked out by 3 big teams whos squads I just cannot compete with

    20210118212139_1.jpg.a86eb0be0fb417717b7f5dfd6571b0ed.jpg

    Star Man

Once again our superstar dutch forward was the performer of the season, even with him being out injured for 3 months he still managed 23 goals, he was closely followed by Jovanovic our young LB who won young player of the year

    Whats Next?

This Leicester squad has some very good young players who could really become a force in the next few seasons. But I am not sure I have the time to stick around, I really need to start making progress on completing this challenge. I think my best hope for this season is to win a cup, for this I would need to avoid the big boys. I almost left during the summer after this season, /cruz Azul in Mexico was available but they could not afford the payoff to Leicester, just as well really.

It is World Cup year and hopefully my South Korea side can take a few scalps and please the crowds with it being on home soil. Best I can hope for is plenty of available nations once its finished leaving some big clubs without a manager. Fingers Crossed

    SEASON 2 (2021/2022)

    Linfield.jpg.f5f952e57b336b1a2b88a97d5d9fc93b.jpg

    Linfield, Danske Bank Premiership

My second season at Linfield was very successful. We won the Danske Bank Premiership with a total of 94 points and a gap of 19 points. For me it was the second time to win it. It was the fourth time in a row that Linfield did win this price. We managed to win 30 of the 38 matches in this League. The remaining 8 matches ended in 4 draws and 4 defeats. We scored 95 goals and conceeded 32 goals. It was Lavery becoming the topscorer with a total of 45 goals. Manzinga was second with 27 goals scored.

Besides winning the Danske Bank Premiership, we added another 4 trophies to our total. For the second time in a row, we managed to win the Northen Irish Cup. Also we were able to win the Northern Irish County Antrim Shield, All-Ireland Champions Cup, Bet McLean League Cup and Northern Irish Cup.

In the European competitions we were not able to win qualification. In the Champions Cup we lost in the First Qualifying Round against GNK Dinamo Zagreb. In the Euro Cup 2, we managed to survive the Third Qualifying Round against Laçi. It was Malmö FF that was to strong in the Fourth Qualifying Round.

Plugging away with Dunfermline. We are top of the Scottish Championship by 4 points with a game in hand, into the Quarter Finals of the Scottish Cup with a good chance to progress against Alloa and in the semi final of the Trust trophy too.

I've been approached by Aberdeen. They're currently in 7th, 6 points behind 5th placed Motherwell with 3 games in hand on them.

I only took the interview on as I wondered where my stature was at. Clearly in Scotland it's pretty good given my first year in the game. Arguably the best club on paper in Scotland outside of Celtic and Rangers, I'm not 100% sold on the move. A 2nd tier championship win may be better on the resume than leaving now and someone else ruining my work. What would you guys do?

I'd stay too, get a promotion on your cv.

    Leicester City Season Review 2031-32

We finished strongly last season but missed out on Europa League qualification on the last day. Our impressive form carried over to this season. I made a few signings to replace the aging outgoing stars they all hit the ground running and we shot to the top of the league.

    Transfers

    League

We started off so well, we were blowing everyone away, we went on a 34 game unbeaten run at one point. I really thought that we would win the league in our first full season.

    fixtures.png.68de7c06bb766af15f98f07182b74741.png

We were top of the league for most of the season, but whether it was pressure or lack of experience, the wheels fell off and after a few losses and draws we should have won, the pressure was on against title rivals Chelsea and Man City both away, we have no chance of beating them. Their squads were so good compared to ours, we threw the title away with only 5 or 6 games to go. I was not too disappointed though as we had performed way better than I had thought we would. The squad is now young and over the next season or two will become even stronger.

    Player of the Season

Sam Tol - We only signed him in January from Ajax, but he was rated highly by my scouts and this is the calibre of player we will need to take us to the next level. Last seasons star striker Ernie Brathewaite just could not reproduce his scoring heroics this season like he did last season. Sam was an instant success scoring goals for fun, with only half a season he finished our top scorer.

    Whats Next?

I might give Leicester another season or two, I'll see how next season pans out. I am in negotiations to sign a star centre back and AMC hopefully they will take us to the next level. If I cannot win the league with Leicester hopefully I can win a cup, move on then come back to win the league with a bigger club. The Liverpool job has become available I have applied just to see what transfer kitty they have. I probably wont take it if I am offered the job.

On the International side with South Korea, nothing of note has happened, we have the World Cup qualifying but we are the hosts so we will be there anyway, hopefully with the home crowd we can do well and maybe upset a few teams.

On another note, we sold our star AMC, This is the most I have sold a player for on any FM by a long shot

    20210110124316_1.jpg.eac247dfdedd82e61eb70a44a6cddb02.jpg

I deferred the transfer to the end of the season so I could still make use of him this season, my joy of having all that transfer money to spend did not last long when this popped up

    20210110124042_1.jpg.ab9ebada4a34c3e92058047e5fa53190.jpg

I bet Motherwell could not believe their luck! I hadnt noticed the 40% sell on clause in his contract which was of course arranged when he was signed before my time. At least I will get around £120 mil of it to spend. I do have the Scottish League active and the Motherwell Job is listed as insecure. I might keep my eye on that. I imagine it would be fun to play in scotland with that cash.

Check this lad out i signed in the summer. Look at those stats for 15 years old! He cost me 500k, he locked in :lock: a 800k release clause in his contract  I'm going to keep tabs on him and try to sign him for as many of my future teams I can. He scored a beauty of a goal in his first start of the season too. I hope I can keep him until we win the Champions League and not lose him before then

Remember this 15 year old beast I signed in 2022, I wanted to keep signing him throughout my career and develop him. This is him now.

Once I left Supersport I signed him for Guangzhou Evergrande, by the time the transfer completed and I could register him I had left so I didnt get chance to use him. After that he moved to PSG and now recently to Real Madrid. Maybe our paths will cross again sometime soon in the future.

    Season 2030/31 Review

After the shambles that was my brief stint at Newell's Old Boys I finally landed a job in the English Premier League with Leicester City. I took over in January halfway though the season. Pre-season the media predicted a 6th place finish for Leicester but their aging squad just did not play to expectations and were 16th when I took over.

I was surprised to be given the job after I have previous failed applications to much lesser teams in other leagues. It might have had something to do with the board asking to a mid table finish but I promised them Europa League qualification, which meant a 7th place finish. The pressure was on! In the Cups they wanted a semi final appearance in the FA Cup and in the Europa League. To upset my board and put even more pressure on my position I got knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round by Man City and I was later knocked out of the Europa League by Porto in the second round.

As the season was drawing to a close, I kept getting news items that a loss in the next game would cost me my job. I had been in the position 3 or 4 months and my job was insecure, damn my ambitious promise for Europa League qualification was it going to bite me on my ass?

    TRANSFERS

I had a £35 million transfer kitty, I sold a few of the dead wood players and brought in a couple of much needed youngsters to join the likes of aging, Tammy Abraham (33), James Maddison (34), Ndidi (34), Soyuncu (35) and Tielemans (34). My signing of January was without a doubt Rodrigo Sole, a world class Argentinian CM an absolute steal at £23 mil.

    LEAGUE

    Spoiler

My first match was against Liverpool at the top of the list. Our old player were invigorated and I seemed to get the whole dressing room onside straight away, even though 4 or 5 of their 'top' players wanted to leave. Some had even already signed pre contract deals elsewhere but still performed. Our run was absolutely fantastic it looked like we would make the Europa League and save my job.

    LEAGUE TABLE

    Spoiler

Even with our great run of form we just missed out on Europa League Qualification I was gutted but knew we could not have done anymore. If I do keep my job I am excited to see how well we do next season.

    TOP PLAYER

Would have to be our top scorer. Ernie Braithwaite. I had 3 strikers with all similar attributes, Ernie was on my bench to begin with, my first choice striker just missed too many chances and after a few super sub performances, he earned his chance and never looked back and finished with 19 goals from 19 starts

    WHATS NEXT?

The board did ask me for a meeting at the end of the season to explain how we had failed so miserably in not achieving our goals this season, I didnt have an option to say we went on a 17 game unbeaten run to miss out on Europa League qualification on the last day of the season by 2 points, but they did accept my explanation about our form, which didnt really make sense with what actually happened but they seemed happy with my choice so I kept my job and now I can begin to plan for next season.

Also In January I was appointed South Korea Manager after they got knocked out the Asian Cup In Jan. No competitions of note coming up yet, qualification for the World Cup starts soon. Couple of friendlies so far so good

Newell's Old Boys Season 2029-30 Review

So our poor form from last season continued into this season. Even with my squad being strengthened the players would not perform. No matter what formation of what style we played. It must have been a mental issue with the squad. The players always seemed to be moaning about something. I had lost the support of the dressing room before the league had even started! It quickly became apparent I would not be able to turn this team around. The only reason I stayed was to see if I could pull off a miracle and win the Copa Libertadores.

We managed to actually perform well in the Copa Lib reaching all the way to the semi final where we met Santos.

In the first leg we lost 0-1 away then in the second leg this happened

    20201228205536_1.jpg.a561a4adf0eb962a36d83df9f3dd877f.jpg

We came so close and to miss a penalty in the 82nd minute who knows what would have happened in the last 10 minutes. But it wasnt to be. I quickly resigned after the next league game where we were 2-0 up at half time and ended up losing 2-3.

So I am looking for a new job. Not sure if it has just been my game but there have not been many 'big' jobs that have come available. I might wait for the next international tournament in 2030 and hope some decent jobs become available then

good luck! i really enjoyed my time with them, Boca are a massive pain though! They're probably the one club I felt I didn't really achieve as much as I should have though - I think I left them in a worse position than when I took over. Whoops.

Also, every time I saw their badge it made me giggle a bit.

    I am 12.

    Haha

I am just about to play the next round of the Copa Libatadores and this popped up

Ive promised them I can turn things around. We havent even started the season yet!!!! They have accepted my promise. I dont think i will last much longer here. The Independiente job became available but I didnt get it. I need to start winning something soon or my rep will be in danger of going down

    Newells Old Boys Season 2028-29

A short update for this one.

I took over as manager of Newells Old Boys with about 10 games to go til the end of the season. The squad looked promising with a lot of young players with potential, I thought with a few additions I may finish around the top 6 and build from there. Unfortunately I could never get the players to get going. I took over when the club were around 12th. I couldnt really improve things and we finished 15th

I feel there is so much potential in this squad. I have signed a few needed players now the season has finished. I have upgraded all of the coaching staff to see if I can maximise this potential some of these player have, something I never do with this save, but I feel I could make this into a mini project, this might add on a few years to this challenge but I will see how things go. One other thing keeping me here is that we are still in the Copa Libatadores fingers crossed for an easy route to the final. I am hoping my new signings can be  registered for the next round but I have a feeling they wont be, I wouldnt be surprised lol

A solid start against Egypt its all we could ask for. We all know how tricky this competition can be.

Our second game against Ghana was a bit of a shock for us. We were ranked way higher than them and our player quality was so much better than theirs. Just by looking at the stats you can see how dominant we were. 68% possession, 32 shots, 12 on target and a xG rating of 2.37. I think we got FM'd right there.

Our final game against Zambia was an easy affair running out 5-2 winners

This game was too close to call, they were the tournaments top scorers and their main forward was on fire ending up the top goal scorer. It was a tense affair. We were 0-2 down after 48 mins, but after a few choice words and a taactical switch we managed to level the score at 2-2 in the 78th minute to take the game to extra time where we scored a couple of goals after they tired and we were into the final

My player of the tournament was in no doubt, our main man, our star player. He scored 5 goals, had 6 assists and our top rated player. He was a real menace cutting in from that right wing.

    Whats next?

    Spoiler

I resigned the day after the final. A few months later I have been appointed the manager of Newell's Old Boys in Argentina. They are looking for a top 6 finish. We are probably some way behind the big boys Boca, River Plate and Independiente, but they have a decent squad with some very good looking young players. With a few additions and the right tactical setup could we shock the big boys? Plus we were in the Copa Libatadores group stage when I took over so fingers crossed. Wish me luck.
