  1. I'm off to Florida for Copa (go Canada!!) but will have a sit-down next week/end and see what works, if anything. I think using another comp ID might help, but I have a feeling it's something with finances (although in one test I gave them insane budgets and tv money and the board still thought they were broke whenever you went into contract negotiations with a player)
  2. Oh yeah, I can see they added a roster for Carolina. Not much point with the USL-C salary bug right now mind you, could really use some help sorting that. As for Chattanooga, did they update the roster or are those just the lads they had in NISA? Ideally they'd play in NISA first season, then a whole bunch of future transfers would go through and they'd switch to MLSNP, just not sure if we can facilitate that cleanly
  3. You mean, 14 hour desk sitting at the RIGHT desk and gaming computer instead of the wrong desk with work files
  4. Those look like stages and not full-blown child comps, why not build it and test it? Sounds a lot like how MLS is set up. Might work most cleanly if each team has "division" set to the parent comp and a "secondary division" set to the east/west comp, wouldn't do anything functionally but allow them to be split in groups that way. Alternately (or if secondary divisions are already used for something else) I think you could sort the teams by longitude, max it at 12 (or however many play in each child comp) and do the same thing in the other stage but just click "reverse teams" (doesn't always work mind you)
  5. I believe it would break the Asian coefficients, that's why SI didn't do it, way too much work and they don't prioritize anything outside of Europe. You could maybe do it with having teams still qualify for the AFC CL/AFC Cup as normal and then distributing them to the new mid-range competition via hidden stages, but it wouldn't look right (i.e. news items saying you qualified for ACL when you haven't, etc)
  6. OP may already be aware of this and wants the more specific C/D/E-type seedings, but anyway the "best third place teams" thing comes from group settings/extra fate/places - set number of places to 4 (in the case of the Euros), "original league place" to "other", and "new league place" to "promotion" (shouldn't make sense but it does). "Maximum teams" in group should be set to 1, or else a fourth-place team might creep in if they have 3 or 4 points and outrank other third-place teams. In the second round, you can seed teams by position in previous stage and do a seeded draw. There are also settings to "avoid teams in previous group" but it doesn't seem to work consistently
  7. No. It's much simpler, you just need "group settings" to get best third placed teams, no need for hidden stages. Also you can seed teams by position in previous group, so no need for any hidden stages. You're right about cup tie mappings, but that's not what he asked, he's wondering how to do the Euro-style "first in group B vs. 3rd from C/D/E" type stuff. I think it's hard-coded in the Euros, you could probably replicate it with a crapload of hidden stages and "ignore teams"-type settings but it sounds like a of work (like one that just takes third from each of groups C/D/E and excludes teams who haven't qualified for the second round, as well as teams who have already been picked in a previous hidden stage). Could be a summer project
  8. Also the new file thing is weird, can only guess that it's trying to "duplicate" stuff that was created or duplicated in the original file, and it gets confused and tries to pull your changes first (but there's nothing to duplicate yet because it hasn't registered the original set of changes). Not sure if that makes sense and can't think of a real solution
  9. When you duplicate a media source, you'll have to go through their settings and manually change stuff like "range" (to local, regional, national etc). When you duplicate them, it LOOKS like it's set to whatever the last guy was, but this is a visual glitch, the game actually sees that setting as blank until you click the drop-down and pick a setting (you can then see in the bottom left that a "change" has been registered). The same thing happens with "short names" when you duplicate awards (game thinks it's blank until you register a change, even if it's just changing a letter, tabbing away so it registers a change, and then changing the letter back so it registers another). Really it's good practice to do this anytime you duplicate anything like a competition, award, media source, etc. Go through each setting and manually change it, even if it already says what you want - the editor is lying. This should probably be in a stickied thread or something tbh
  10. You'll need to edit the rules for Nations League and Euro quals, doesn't sound like they're built to accommodate an extra team (which is weird because you'd think they'd make it flexible enough to accommodate Russia coming back in from the cold). As for the error message, go through all 21 teams and manually change their "nation" to England (even if it already says England, just do it anyway so it registers a change), and their "division" to that division maybe too. I have a feeling merging the databases caused some weird issue with changes either failing or not showing. I tend to avoid merging databases at all costs, has only caused issues for me
  11. For one thing there's 36 teams in the league stage, and the game will have already distributed teams directly to the 32-team group stage, some in qualifying, etc. You'd have to figure out who skips qualifying to get straight in to the league stage and like @Roy Race 9 said that could easily break the coefficient
  12. Try the nationality file, it might still work, just missing anyone who is new in FM24 and would need Catalan second nationality added. I doubt the more complicated UE Olot version would work though, at least not the U19 stuff I added. Maybe worth a shot verifying it in the FM24 editor and seeing what happens though. Don't think I'll make it again, too many issues with FM24/SI lying about fixes etc to spend my time on
  13. "Players based outside of nation" has gotta be for internationals. Could you just give them their own transfer windows separate from the top division? I.e. duplicate them and change the first one's "highest division level" to 0 and "lowest division level" to 0, and the second one to highest 1 and lowest 1 (this is the div 2 transfer window). Make their transfer windows "domestic transfers only"
  14. If any of those divisions I noted are unused in my file, try repurposing them and seeing if it has the same effect
  15. You could just add an entry at the top of "teams" with "ignore team" set to "specific team" and the new team (before the standard "get all teams from division" entry or whatever it is). Add an "end year" for that rule, of the first season, and it won't use it anymore. It's not pretty mind you, the game/your board doesn't really know what's going on and might try to set expectations, transfer budgets, etc. You could add a transfer ban for that one club until a few months before the season starts, I guess. The way MLS does it (with "next divsion") seems hard-coded and not easily replicated
  16. Some of the USL2 divisions are hard-coded to do that (i.e. start with players and then get a new batch from the academy leagues every off-season). Nothing I did
  17. First season they need to generate players (usually from the team's region) so that MLS has players to draft. Then from second season on a bunch of the USL2 divisions get randomly assigned players from the academy divisions IIRC. At least that's how it used to work, pretty sure it still does. A bunch of that stuff seems broken this year, I know the US head researcher requested they clean a bunch of it up but they didn't bother
  18. There's some weird options like "allow any squad numbers" that should always be checked even if they seem pointless and redundant. Guessing it's some weird rule that the latest patch made work in some unexpected way
  19. Not actually sure how to get at the default rules. You could maybe build a new set and have the default competitions use them but I have a feeling that would break something else
  20. I believe mine is still compatible with Yellow's, haven't had a look since the last official patch though
  21. Can only guess he's got work, school, life commitments. Some things take priority. If you have time, feel free to make yourself useful and check what changes were made in the latest patch that need to be fixed here, and list them here for easier reference (or make the necessary changes and verify it yourself)
  22. You can pick from either saintscanada's Canada League 1 and Cup comps, or yellow's file. I don't think the game would let you load both, they're both Canadian league files and it usually makes you pick one from the same countries. The Canadian Championship file acts separately to clean up the Voyageurs Cup but I don't believe it's compatible with yellow's file. It was built to work alongside saintscanada's file. ETA for that bug is unknowable, anyone with the editor is welcome to try different fixes and would get credit in the OP. At the moment I wouldn't recommend loading D2 down because of it.
  23. You can go into the competition itself (not the rules) and set contract types I think? So at least every staff and player contract would have to stay PT even if they go pro?
  24. If we can fix the USL-C salary bug that would be a big update to make it playable from D2 down again. Other than that, there really isn't such a thing as a final version with TMC files, they're released as completely playable (unless its a beta) and then fixed where and when people point out issues
