  1. Also you might have to tweak the way I exclude the active Euro teams from 2025 onward if you make it recurring. Not sure if it's still 16 teams advancing + 8 dropping down from the UCL to the EL (and so on to the ECL) in the new format. This ending after one edition had the convenient side effect of me not worrying about that
  2. And yes it's a one-off, but keep in mind we might have another coronation relatively soon which will draw me back here (hopefully not)
  3. That's cool, maybe for the team entry for NZ teams, take the "get best teams from division" "National League" entry and check the box for no reserve teams. That will keep Phoenix reserves out if it's a yearly thing and they get good enough to claim the spot
  4. OK, I've just finished cleaning it up, it's ready to go now. The English teams (and Celtic) do go far but it's reminiscent of the last time this happened anyway. You'll love that I've thrown Wellington Phoenix into the qualifiers every time, with no continental competition they deserve a shot at this
  5. Sure, just posted a mediafire link, cheers for the interest. Just making a couple of little tweaks so it's not all-English semifinals each time
  6. This is a one-off cup to celebrate King Charles III's accession to the throne of the 15 Commonwealth realms, who (along with various FIFA-affiliated territories) send representatives to this January-to-May 2024 tournament based on domestic cup and league ranking – with teams active in their continental tournaments not invited (so no clashes with Champions Leagues/Cups). Regional qualifying groups are held before a last 16 that includes teams from the United Kingdom and leads up to a final in front of the monarch at Wembley: DOWNLOAD (backup) The cup is meant to promote cross-cultural understanding and recognize His Majesty's coronation, and will only be held once.
  7. Now that's an idea, especially as Scotland splits into that final stage, you could take the top team (or two) out of there and put them in a final stage with the old firm instead. The thing is, moving Rangers and Celtic to the EPL means their European homegrown rules will be for 8 players who came up through England - their current rosters accommodate this but it's a huge pain and setback to any kind of Lisbon Lions-type homegrown planning. That seems hard-coded to their "nation" rather than their "continental cup nation" (which you can change back to Scottish), and "nation" has to be English if they're playing there. I think the Welsh teams might be hard-coded for this. Been brainstorming solutions, like some kind of wider British Premier League, but I don't think you can do much with those United Kingdom/Great Britain nationalities that operate in the background somehow
  8. Just checking if we still need it or if the patch fixed the same issues
  9. Can you go into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2024 Editor (or your equivalent folder) and run the exe from there? Maybe right click it and run as administrator? Or maybe you don't have enough RAM?
  10. Could you just set "team type" to reserve for the first entry? Shouldn't need fall-back teams (which I've never got working). There's more convoluted ways to do it with team pools and "ignore teams" entries but it would be more work
  11. Would only add that if the host nation's league hasn't ticked over yet you might need "get best team in competition" which I believe takes whoever's ranked 1st, while "best teams in division" is last year's champion. The registration issue sounds like it could be a date thing, like the hidden CWC rules are for a specific date range only maybe. For the playoff itself you could try using a different (more flexible) set of registration rules
  12. It's a square peg for sure. Then again so is playing in the US in general. Still trying to figure out what's keeping USLC teams from offering bigger deals, I wonder if we have to wait for a specific date to tick over, or is it like this in the future too?
  13. I've thought about it, although pro/rel would be a different file, and I don't really have the energy at the moment to keep both going. The most basic version wouldn't include MLS, the way they build rosters and draft players etc doesn't really lend itself to teams going up and down. USLC to USL1 makes a lot more sense, the roster rules are largely similar and you'd just have to adjust your salary cap each year. Maybe a playoff with the NISA champs. It would also mean teams move around a bit, which does happen IRL, just not with pro/rel on the field. USL2 could be at the bottom but it would be really hard for teams getting relegated to adjust to semipro (in some cases hamstrung by contracts for guys they can't even register) Simplified rules sound interesting too, you could scrap everything in contract rules and drafts and see what happens over a few years of testing. Would need some tweaks but should work. Years and years ago (FM08 maybe) I think someone took the Israeli league, made it American and renamed it MLS, and plugged all the MLS teams in (with relegation to a second division with NASL teams like Puerto Rico). Editing wasn't quite as sophisticated then so it was a straight swap. Meant you had the exact rules and format of the Israeli leagues but as far as the game knew, it was an American division called MLS with all the right teams. Was actually lots of fun and easy to just burn through a season as you weren't keeping an eye on all these insane roster rules. Something to think about. That might be easier here too mind you
  14. If it's showing them as too far to travel, there must be incorrect info somewhere? Check the coordinates for the local regions (if they have them) and cities in Cambodia too, I wonder if someone added a W coordinate as an E (i.e. plus or minus when it should have been the other way), and all of the relevant stadiums. If it's not a travel issue, I think you could set all the Indonesian clubs as rivals to the Cambodian clubs (with a low number so it doesn't show in-game) and the box for "does not play friendlies" checked, although that would probably just lead to more issues
  15. Probably too obvious, but is the semifinal set up under "requirements" for the final? If they're separate stages, the final may be trying to set itself up before the semi winners are crowned
  16. Can you DM me the save file if possible, I wouldn't mind poking around. That $14.5K figure sounds familiar from past saves, I was usually able to up it by moving money around or selling players and would suddenly be able to offer $80K to $110K but there might be something preventing you now. Not a problem to raise this stuff, I need the feedback, only way to improve these files. Might be something in contract types or Board/chairman settings that actually makes a difference in FM24 and never worked before
  17. Just occurred to me there might be a way to "use playoff rankings" in Wales and use flexible ranking places for everyone under 1st, so that 1st gets the title but the teams in the playoff can steal 2nd or 3rd (thereby taking the second-best European spot). Would need a bit of testing though
  18. Thanks for the feedback. Which club? I wonder if we need to adjust overall finances down there, maybe if they don't see enough money coming in they won't free up any for signings. The CBS deal IRL means we might be able to keep it realistic in the process. I've coached in the lower divisions before and it was a struggle but not to that extent. FYI salary cap space may not correspond to the board's understanding of how much they can spare - is there a separate wage budget anywhere under finances? That would be a more realistic look at room for new signings. But still, they shouldn't be stonewalling you with 900K of cap room. Once I hear more details I'll start brainstorming and testing
  19. What about this, in the main teams list - get teams from team pool, sort by seeding (can't remember if it will be ascending or descending), seed by reputation (I think that's an option?) In the team pool - set an entry with "best teams in division" (or "get best teams in competition" if you want current standings from a season that hasn't ticked over yet) and maximum teams to 4, with division set to EPL. Repeat for each division you want (all 52 European nations). This should work by drawing the 4 teams as separate entries each? And then the "get teams from team pool" should sort them all by that seeding by reputation with no regard to nationality. Try it and see
  20. I was about to post something but would just be repeating myself from 3 and a half years ago, lol, if it's every 2nd season then it sounds a lot like something isn't finishing in time and is pushing into the next year. Transfer window, league fixtures, cup dates, something like that. If the league can't finish or there are other hanging threads like that when season update day hits, it just won't schedule the new season. By the time another year rolls around, though, it's fine and can schedule again. Triple check every single date in there, for that matter they might have used 2020/2021 instead of 2000/2001 by accident somewhere (assuming "base year for dates" is 2000). Or maybe they put a cup final on, say, May 31 and made season update day June 1, not realizing that one is a weekday (so will change every year) and the other is a hard date. If it's not a date issue, try posting it up and maybe someone can take a look
  21. There's a simple way where you can also just tell it to ignore the 38 (or 32 before the format change) "best teams in competition" for the CL, and then tell it to grab the [amount of teams] "best teams in competition", only problem is that the Board/media won't know that they're getting in a back door
  22. Just seen the Vancouver thing, do you live around here? Might actually hit the Caps game tomorrow if my buddy is into it I do wonder if there's a way to keep dynamic reputation by leaving all the CLs etc intact as much as possible, without fixtures, and just using them for seeding/coefficients etc, but that's a massive project I don't know if I'll have the energy for (especially with BC summer fast approaching)
  23. Yeah mate, people should be following your account and rushing to answer basic questions that you should be able to figure out in 2 minutes on your own. This type of ungrateful response is why people get burned from posting replies more often
  24. I think you can add different stages that will each only run if there are a certain amount of teams, which should be achievable with "ignore teams" set to the world cup host?
  25. Before CanPL was in the game I'd thought about trying to just use MLS wholesale, keeping the unique IDs but renaming and moving all the teams to Canada. Fix up their rosters and maybe remove the salary rules but the cap and everything would still exist (could change USL2 to USports). Like a 29-team CanPL. I think @Al Clark might have done something similar but 10-15 years ago or so when it would have been a much smaller project
