  1. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 7 - 2030/31 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: unlike last season, this time we struggled during the first half, lingering around relegation spots for a while. Our first win came only after 10 matches; however, we managed to secure victories in 5 of our last 8 games. With that, we entered the relegation phase with a comfortable advantage, losing only one match in the second part of the season and finishing once again safe from relegation. Stefanos Karypidis 29c was our most consistent player and Ilias Manafis 27e was our top goalscorer with 12 goals, in a season where our all-time top goalscorer Gekas was released. We've been putting around 10 to 14 players in every call up for the internacional youth teams. Kabiotis 29a and Pindonis 28f were both called up to represent Greece in the U21 European Championship this summer. For the first time we managed to sell a player for a 1 million+ €. Tasos Laspatzis 28c left the club to join AEK for around 1.8 million euros, with a 30% of the profit from the next sale. Youth intake: as one of the best youth academies in Greece, we produced once again a great youth intake, with the most interesting prospects being Vangelis Danidis 31a, Vasilis Soumoulidis 31b, Alexandros Konstantinidis 31c, Alexandros Donis 31d and Nikos Kavalieris 31e. 2. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 6 - 2029/30 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: this season, we experienced our biggest improvement so far. From barely surviving relegation to fighting for European qualification, we had an amazing first half of the season with some good results, such as a 2-1 win and a draw against PAOK, and a nil-nil draw away at Panathinaikos. We finished the regular phase in 8th place, just two points away from playing for the European qualification spots. The biggest shock was Panathinaikos finishing in the relegation phase, where, with 7 games to play, we secured another season in the first level of Greek football, allowing us to rotate our squad at the end of the season. In the cup, another exit in the fifth round agains a lower level team... Our goalkeeper, Vasilis Kyrialanis, was our most regular player with an average rating of 7.29, achieving 10 clean sheets and winning 8 Player of the Match awards in 31 games. He also won the Talent of the Year award, Best Goalkeeper of the Year, Greek Player of the Year (Ioannidis was second), and was part of the Best XI in the league (along with 9 Olympiacos and 1 AEK player). I was 3rd in the Manager of the Year award. For the first time since we took control of Kavala, the top goalscorer didn't go to Gekas; instead, Christos Markopoulos was the most effective in front of the goal with 10 goals this season. Unfortunately, he's not renewing his contract and is leaving the club because he wants to play for a bigger club... Youth intake: another amazing intake, with a lot of players having the potential to be in the first squad in a few years, like Kostas Gialamis 30a, Thanasis Toromanidis 30b, Pavlos Tsamouris 30c, Dimitris Zagliveris 30d, Christos Omiridis 30e, Panagiotis Arnaoutoglou 30f, Christos Titis 30g, Cory Andijanto 30h and Apostolos Paschalakis 30i. 3. Not sure if this is a translation bug or not, but I'm playing the relegation phase in the greek league and this article says we're in the race for a Conference League spot.
  4. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 5 - 2028/29 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: just like last year, once again, we've struggled to survive in the Greek Super League. An abysmal start and an early elimination in the cup were followed by a streak of 14 games without a win, culminating in a devastating 9-0 defeat to the giants Olympiacos. However, reminiscent of the previous season, we managed to secure another year in the top tier on the last day. We finished with the same number of points as the relegated Kallithea in the relegation phase.(Regular Phase / Relegation Group) Even with 48 goals conceded in 32 games, our goalkeeper Vasilis Kyrialanis was ou most regular player with 3 MoM awards and 7 clean sheets. Once again, Kosmas Gekas was our top goalscorer, this time with... 7 goals. Youth intake: another year of promising players, like Grigoris Kabiotis, Panagiotis Christodoulou, Stefanos Karypidis, Dimitris Samouladas, Amir Hoxha, Periklis Gouras and Giorgos Bedrelis. The board finally announced the new stadium. The Kavala Stadium will be completed in 3 years and will cost us 26,5 million euros, with a monthly payment of 300k€. I don't know were we're going to get that kind of money since we're already 600k down in finances... Team history: Manager history:
  5. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 4 - 2027/28 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: the leap in quality from League 2 to the Super League is significant. Initially projected to finish last with odds of 700 to 1, we were by far the weakest side in the Greek Super League. However, the season started well with three wins in our first five games, suggesting a comfortable season far from relegation. After that, we went through a series of 19 games without a win, only to finish the regular part of the season 1 point away from the relegation spots. Fortunately, we managed to finish the year 3 points ahead of the last two spots, securing first-division football for another year. It will take us years to even be able to compete for European qualification in Greece. The disparity between the top 4 (Olympiacos, AEK, Panathinaikos, and PAOK) and the rest is significant. For example, the league generates 78 million euros in sponsorship, averaging 5.5 million for each team. Our revenue is 375k€, while Olympiacos is at 25 million! (Stoiximan Super League Regular Phase / Relagation Group) At the end of last season, two of our first-team players, Altintzis and Georgiadis, did not renew their contracts and ended up leaving for Kalamata in the second division. For the new season, our first keeper Lefteris Astras will also not renew his contract and will leave for free, probably to a lower division team, but since we have a low reputation, it'll be hard do keep those kind of players... Like previous years, Kosmas Gekas was our top goalscorer, but this season he scored only 8 goals. The striker, who has scored 75 goals wearing Kavala's shirt, was indeed a reflection of our poor quality in front of the goal. We scored only 24 in 33 league games... Plamen Pavlov was the most regular player this season. Youth intake: another amazing intake, reflecting our investment in the youth system. This year the board invested 400k€ upgrading the youth facilities. Vasilis Papadopoulos 28a, Leonidas Pantidis 28b, Tasos Laspatzisb28c, Marios Barbagiannis 28d, Grigoris Karvounis 28e, Dimitris Pindonis 28f and Thanasis Lyratzis 28g are our most promising players coming from the academy this year. By the way, we had elections and a new president was elected. The board now has a plan to build a new stadium; however, I believe the money would be better invested in training facilities. It makes sense, though, as we were the 6th best in attendance with an average of 10,260 spectators (97% of our capacity) and had 6 sellouts this season. Team history: Manager history:
  6. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 3 - 2026/27 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: after securing a stable 9th place last season, our goal for the new year was to remain in the top half of the table. The media predicted a modest 13th place at the beginning of the season. However, we defied all expectations by achieving a dramatic promotion in the last game of the season, unfolding like a fairy tale. We won our final match against Panionios, and Kallithea's loss to Larisa with a late goal propelled us to the 2nd spot, securing an unexpected promotion from Super League 2. (variation) In the Greek Cup, we once again reached the 6th round, defeating MGS Panserraikos (6th in the Greek first division) but ultimately losing to the Greek giants AEK. The home match against AEK in the first leg of the 6th round recorded our highest attendance ever with 10,404 spectators and also set a record for the highest ticket revenue, totaling around €240k. Youth candidates: another pretty solid intake, with players like Igor Bašić 27a, Giannis Tsorbatzidis 27b and Tasos Avgoustopoulos 27c already with first squad quality. Lefteris Astras won the GK of the year award after 14 clean sheets this season. Kosmas Gekas was once again our top goalscorer and his 24 goals in the league this year rewarded him with the top goalscorer award. Alexandros Toungelidis 25b, from our first intake, was the player with the highest average rating. I was second place in the manager of the year in League 2. Team history: Manager history:
  7. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 2 - 2025/26 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: another season where we comfortably avoided relegation. The predicted at the start of the season was 14th place, however I aimed for the top half of the table, and we achieved that by finishing 9th in the Betsson Super League 2. In the cup we defeated two teams from a lower division before being eliminated by APO Levadeiakos from the first division. Youth candidates: once again very happy with this year's intake. A few players that will be part of the first squad next season, like Tasos Alavantas 26a, Aris Tsanaktsoglou 26b, Dimitris Polychronidis 26c, Pavlos Christou 26d and Panagiotis Manafis 26e. This is a reflection of the investment the board made this year, allowing our youth recruitment to reach a more adequate level. Kosmas Gekas with 17 goals was once again our top goalscorer, even with 2 months out of competitions due to an injury. Lefteris Astras, was crowned the best goalkeeper of the year in Super League 2 and our player with the highest average rating. I was 3rd place in the manager of the year award and throughout this year the board allowed me to take 2 courses. I am currently studying to obtain a National A License. History:
  8. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 1 - 2024/25 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: To make this experience a little bit more realistic, all the players from South Eastern Europe were loaded (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Georgia, Greece, North Macedonia and Turkey), as well as all players from continental competitions in Europe. The season started with a few changes in our squad roles. I changed the second captain and because of that Lazaros Tzelidis didn't renew his contract and end up leaving the club. We had an initial transfer budget of 1,25 million € and a wage budget up to 130k€/month, which really doesn't matter because we're currently spending around 25k€/month. Betsson Super League 2: The media prediction was 16th place, the last of the surviving teams (not considering Olympiacos and AEK B). The first game of the season in Greece is in late September, so for the first half of the season, we played two games a week to keep up with the 38-game season. Early in the season we faced a disappointing premature elimination in the greek cup against a team from a lower division. However, in the league, the relegation was never in our horizon, as we sat comfortably mid-table for the whole season, thanks to the 19 goals of Kosmas Gekas and the performances of Thanasis Ioannidis. Youth candidates (part 1, part 2): The youth intake was amazing, with a few players that will be in out first squad next season, specially Dimitris Manafis 25a, Alexandros Toungelidis 25b, Kostas Georgakopoulos 25c and Giorgos Boulgouridis 25d. We established a new partnership with Olympiacos worth around 50k€/year. With 6339 average attendance, we were by far the team with the most support during this season in the league. Still no badges. Board rejected all my requests, and at the end of the season we saw our facilities being downgraded. History:
  9. Hello. In Greece, the second division north and south merges into a league of 20 teams after the first season. However, there are still awards for divisions north and south.
  10. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 0 - 2023/24 Info / General / Facilities / Squad I'm going to give Greece a try. Meet Georgios Angelopoulos, a 50-year-old Greek stepping into football for the first time as a manager of the newly promoted second tier side Kavala FC.
