My ignorance - is that because its the same or better but a tad cheaper than the other two? I've always had Intel, so how does the AMD compare?

The Ryzen 5 in this is stronger than the i5 in the ones you linked.

Hi,

I would like to go rather big on my next PC. I would like to play all leagues loaded and big databases on a decent speed. Other games I would play are equally CPU heavy games such as stellaris or CrusaderKings. So ideally i would like to spent the majority of my budget on a great CPU. Another big thing for me is cooling, my last laptop stopped working because the CPU got overheated due to bad cooling and too long sessions, I dont mind sound but I would like an actual working cooling system. My budget would be 1500-1800€, if I reach another benchmark with 200 more, then pls inlcude those suggestions as well.

I tried reading myself into the topic of how to rate great CPUs or where to buy the best deals, but I am lost.
edit: to clarify i am looking for a tower rather than a laptop.

Hi

I have very limited knowledge and reading previous post I’m starting  to get abit overwhelmed with info and suggestions! can anyone help me? I’m looking for a new laptop my budget is between £700-£900 I’m looking to mainly play FM in 3d with large database and all leagues loaded from the big nations! Also would like the option to be able to play other (AAA) games and use it for browsing and streaming. I’m currently looking at

Does anyone have any other recommendations?, are these any good? And which would be best value for the money?

 Thanks

Hi all, thanks for providing this thread to help out.

I’m currently playing on Stadia and with no sign of the newer games becoming available I’m likely to have to bite the bullet and buy a new laptop.

My budget is up to £800ish (so like if it’s £805 I wouldn’t rule it out).

The laptop would only be for FM.

If I’m honest one of my biggest ‘wants’ is to have good graphics. Stadia has pretty decent graphics so I don’t want to take a step backwards. I play in 3D and it’s not amazing but it’s pretty good - sorry I can’t explain it any more helpfully.

I also play with about 10 countries and 24 playable leagues perhaps. In a six hour session I get through nearly half a season, and that’s me not going in to huge detail (go from match to match s quickly as possible)

I’ve had my eye on this laptop for about a year now: https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/gaming/pc-gaming/gaming-laptops/acer-nitro-5-15-6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-gtx-1650-256-gb-ssd-10222264-pdt.html

Oh and I’m looking for a screen size of 15” upwards.

I hope that’s enough detail and really appreciate any support and advice you can offer me!

Thanks :)

Hi guys, just found your forum. This is a great thing you're doing. Looking for a laptop for a mate to run FM and read a few emails. His budget is £200-250. I found the below, would it be ok?

https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/product/laptops/thinkpad-l460/

It'll run the game.  It won't be terribly quick, but it is likely to be about as good as you'll find within that budget.

i am looking for a mini-pc to play only fantasy draft mode and steamlink it to my ipad. May i know which intergrated gpu will give me max 5 stars?

thanks.

The GPU won't affect the processing speed, that'll all down to the CPU.

But if you want to know which processors to look out for with the best integrated graphics, then you're looking at a Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 generally.

Best I can suggest is to provide some links of ones you're looking at and we can help you work out which is best.

Kevhamster/Smurf,

What a thread! Information overload!!

Looking for new laptop advice obviously, current one is 4-5 yeaars old, so a bit out of the loop with regards to the latest technology. What's the preferences these days, Intel or AMD? Raedon or Nvidia? Assume SSD over HDD. I'm old school, still got 160gb of music files, so assume I'd need a 512Gb drive over 256?

Budget: was thinking £600, but after reading here and doing some research, more likely to be £800?

Uses: Email, surfing, MS Office, FM (2 or 3 leagues), and if i can get back into it, Cities Skylines.

Preferences: Always bought HP (but not cast on stone), numeric keypad (just habit but gives larger screen), and looking at the weight of some of these gaming laptops, under 2kg.

There's a Currys in town, and Argos, but nearest John Lewis is now 2-3 hours away

Thanks in advance for any pointers you can provide.

With a big amount of leagues selected?

As per the original post, we can't state how many leagues it may or may not run to your liking.  Everyone's expectations in terms of what is acceptable is different.

However, the CPU is very good and should handle the game very well.

Also, does it make any difference for FM to have 16GB instead of having 8GB RAM?

The amount of RAM shouldn't make a difference, especially once you're going past 8GB.

What may make a difference is:

The RAM speed

Whether it's running in dual or single channel mode

There's no easy answer to the Intel/AMD, Radeon/Nvidia question as there are so many different options and all manufacturers have some strong and some weak options.

This is a good all-rounder in terms of value for money - excellent CPU, graphics card is plenty strong enough and 512GB storage. https://www.box.co.uk/82K200C2UK-Lenovo-ideaPad-Gaming-3-AMD-Ryzen-5-8GB-_3638079.html

Hi all,

Smurf very kindly recommended me a HP Pavilion 15-cx0018na laptop a couple of years ago, which I’ve really enjoyed.

I’m looking at getting a new one for FM22 (and other games), on a similar brand, is there any newer models that do a similar job to the HP Pavilion 15?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Not really in terms of performance for FM.

You might get a few more panels or play in windowed mode with a browser going on the side or something.

Yes more RAM means you will be able to run more things at the same time.

Same as before.

I disagree with this.

If you load a lot of leagues, the RAM-usage can go over 6GB, sometimes even higher. If you play with a lot of leagues, 8 GB RAM are definetly too low. The system itself needs space and I don't think that FM22 will use less RAM (Probably even more).

For most Save-Games it will be fine of course, but not for all kind of Save-Games.

You are welcome....

Yes - but that doesn't mean you load more leagues and have a larger database.

It has nothing to do with it. The processor does this.

You can believe me - and the other people in that thread, one of them a developer for the game -

or you can believe yourself.

thanks

I've loaded over 400 leagues with custom data, of course a developer won't do this, as they do not test their game with custom-league-files.

I've done so many long-term-simulation-tests.

8GB Ram might be enough if you run all default leagues, as soon as you load league-megapacks etc. it won't be enough at some point, as simple as that.

For those kind of saves 16GB RAM are needed.

alright then....I was hoping for a little bit more constructive conversation, especially as you give advices to so many people.

I don't really want to do constructive conversations today.

I only pop by from time to time to recommend a computer.

If you want to have a constructive conversation about it about a new thread.

Yes of course! It's not as fast anymore in 2040 as at the beginning but I didn't had 1 crash at all. Save could go until year 2100+ with 16RAM:lol:

AMD 5950x and 32GB RAM.

In general, yes. If I simulate with full details then all cores are loaded 100%. During this time, everything else will stuck. If I do not play with full details I can even play RDR2 at the same time

Depends very much on what you're paying for it.

The processor isn't particularly strong (I have a laptop myself with the same CPU, and it's not absolutely terrible but it is relatively weak by current standards).  In terms of graphics performance, it gets medium settings on the 3D engine with a smooth frame rate.

Potentially, yes.  Less so the size, more the resolution.

If you're running a 1440p monitor, then the match screen tablet can have more things displayed at once.  The flip side to this is that this resolution will work your graphics card harder, than say 1080p so you'll want to make sure the rest of the hardware can handle it.  FM itself isn't too intense in terms of graphics, but it's just worth bearing in mind.
