Here we go!

I'm gonna add a couple of added criteria to the mix.

First, I'll win domestic league with Wellington Phoenix as they're the only team I can think of in the default database that is geographically within a nation in the OFC, and I'll also win a cup with an Oceanic national team (if there's anything playable). I will not count any additional titles won with either team towards the challenge's goal, I simply want to incorporate Oceania into it somehow.

Second, for every continental competition, I will use a team from the lowest available domestic flight to win it; that means that, yes, I plan to win the Champions League with a Vanarama North/South team, and I will do so with every single continent. I'll also try to win as many international cups as possible with teams that aren't the 'top dogs' of a specific continent.

It may take a while lol

Update: I begin my journey at RANS Cilegon FC, in the Indonesian second league.

There's only one continental spot out of Indonesia, and it's for the first playoff round. This club has a transfer policy to not sign non-Indonesian players. The first step is always the hardest.

So frigging close. I lost the title on goal difference. PSG just too strong this season. As good as we were this season with us only losing twice all season. Very annoying lol.

Best Player - Alex Collado - 35 Year Old Spanish Winger

Collado rolled back the years with this stellar performance with 25 goals and 15 assists.  Unfortunately he retires in the summer.

After having this lovely bug, took a couple weeks away from FM before trying to tackle this again....

"To know your enemy, you must become your enemy"

So I started in South America (primarily to keep an eye on the pesky Copa Libertadores) and surprisingly was offered the job at Chilean top flight side Deportes Melipilla. Although predicted to go straight back down, they had had a decent start, sitting 11th with just under half the season to go.

League - Cup (N/A)

Campeonato AFK Planvital:

Stayed up by the skin of our teeth! Finished a point above the relegation playoff, so we've managed another season in the top flight. Not a whole lot to say here with only half of the season under my belt. Straight after the last game, I started dismantling a lot of the squad and targetting new players, so it'll be a pretty different team come the start of the 2022 season.

Copa Chile:

N/A - Deportes Melipilla were knocked out before I joined sadly.

League - Cup

2022 league title

That'll do nicely!

Campeonato AFK Planvital:

Completely unexpected win here. Got the league win with 2 games left, after always being slightly ahead of the pack.... somehow. Thankfully, it's only a 30 game season so we didn't have time to drop off which is something I always somewhat expected. We started and ended the season absolutely on fire, which ended up being the route to the title for us.

Copa Chile:

Yeah.... not much to say here. We did play without a few starters in order to try and preserve the league form, so going out wasn't completely unexpected. We were 2-0 down in the away leg as well, so the scoreline massively flattered us as we got an equaliser in the 92nd minute as well.

A mid-season move to Argentina and to one of the big five within the country, San Lorenzo. Languishing down in the bottom part of the table with no continental football, this is a fairly good opportunity to get up the ladder quite quickly I feel. Although it is a bit confusing as the Argentine Primera Division seems to run different rules the first 4 years until it settle so apologies if this seems a bit.. off.

First Phase League Table - Relegation Group - Cup (N/A)

Liga Profesional de Futbol:
I figure the 2 screenshots above would be the easiest to explain this seasons structure. We joined San Lorenzo with 1 game left and consigned to the Relegation Group although as you can see, once there we dominated

Copa Argentina:
We joined after the club was knocked out in the fifth round.

FC Porto: 2046/47 Review

Having clinched yet another league title last season in Italy I found my next job just a couple of weeks into the new campaign. Before that I had the World Cup with England though and it ended in disaster. We breezed through to the semi finals before losing out 2-3 to Belgium. Frustratingly we threw away a two goal lead before having a man sent off early in extra time. We conceded just a few moments later and that was all she wrote. Thankfully I kept my position though and will look to win major tournaments with England going forward.

The FC Porto manager departed to take on the newly vacant role with Portugal meaning I was free to come in to a league title favourite for another attempt at winning some trophies. The inherited squad looked more than capable of success and for that reason I didn’t actually conduct any pre season business and we headed into the season with high hopes of a really successful campaign.

League.png.96840c57046b5d1f513d0f9f2290c90a.png

We ended up breezing to the league title after a truly dominant campaign. We were sensational from the first whistle of the season and never looked back. An early season defeat to Benfica looked like it could damage us but we beat them more comfortably in the return giving us some leeway as we had the better head to head record to go with our points advantage. I’m the end we didn’t need to worry anyway as we stormed our way to the title after a long unbeaten run during which we never even looked in danger of losing.

Outside of the league we would play in two domestic cup finals with the hopes of chalking off another domestic cup.

1724458942_LCup.png.0e8965d164bdcf7ab31a6036254f6cb6.png

346656260_PCup.png.a066cf21e02e8623b9121837986c3561.png

First up we would suffer heartbreak against rivals Benfica as we lost out in the final of the League Cup. Thankfully we would put that to bed in the Portuguese Cup though as a comfortable display saw us defeat Vitoria Setubal to win it and grab that much needed domestic cup.

Our only blip came in the Champions League as we fell short in the group stage to be eliminated down to the Europa League. We breezed through to the semi final before facing a stern two legged test against Tottenham. After a narrow and late 0-1 defeat at home in the first leg we bounced back in style to win 2-0 away in north London and book our spot in the final. In our way stood the other half of north London and the team I support.

Europa.png.4313648224d25f5e7b69948b84085dfd.png

We produced a great fight back to win against Arsenal and lift a third trophy of the season. Two goals from Cleyton saw us home and saw me finish my reign in style.

Having clinched three trophies in my season here I handed in my resignation and getting headed out on the hunt for a new job. At club level my challenge is going really well but I do really need to start chalking off some international trophies soon. I’ve found that side of things pretty tough so far but I am still in charge of England. The European Championships are at the end of next season and I will definitely aim to lead my side into that tournament. How we get on in that tournament will decide whether or not I hang around to take them into the World Cup two years further down the line.

Season 2043/44 Review

SupercupRetained this in a scrappy game won in the 88th minute

LeagueDominated once again, not as many points as last season but with my focus on the Champions League I rotated a lot around those games to keep people fresh, I also really went into game management mode by killing games off if we were 2 goals up at around the 60 minute mark so we scored less goals as a result. No one could really touch us though and the title was never in doubt.

CupWanted to win this after missing out last season, we had easy run to the final and beat Lille 3-0

Champions LeagueThis was my focus, a trophy that has eluded me in 14 seasons managing in Europe. I felt we were 2 or 3 seasons away from winning it but starting as 1st seeds was a massive advantage. Runners up in the group gave us Bayern which I thought was the end of the road, more so when they beat us 2-1 (despite us dominating them) at home. For an hour of the away leg we were 2nd best and then they scored and I thought that was it. However the goal was ruled out and we went up the other end and scored to level the tie. A quick fire double gave us a 3-0 win and put us through. A nervy tie against Atletico Madrid was won 1-0 with a goal from a former Real player gave us a semi against defending champions and my former team Dortmund. 10 of their starting 11 was signed by me which is insane as I left the club 7 years ago but also shows how well I set them up. a 4-2 win away and a nervy 1-1 home draw gave us a final against Man Utd

TransfersWe spent big again but also invested in building for the future

SquadI kinda love this squad, up there with my NYRB and Dortmund squads for being "mine" only 3 players over the age of 25 now in the squad with 2 of them out the door this summer shows how much I have invested in young players. Think we have 4 wonderkids in our starting 11 most games too

France

Qualified for the Euros by winning every game in our group as I finally settled on a tactic and 95% of the squad

2044 European Championship

Groups

Germany 3-4 France - what an opening game, we went 1-0 in the opening seconds then found ourselves 4-1 up just after HT. Only to then stop defending to allow 2 goals and then defended for our lives for the final 10 mins. Will be hard to top this game
France 2-0 Czech Republic - comfortable win against a side we beat in the qualifiers to get here with a goal in the middle of each half to ease us through
France 3-1 Croatia - our previous 2 games meant we had won the group so this was a totally rotated side and they did the job and kept our perfect run going

2nd round

Spoiler

Sweden 1-2 France - score makes it look tighter than it was but we eased through. A minor scare after they scored to make it 1-1 just before HT but we took the lead right after the break and that was enoguh

Quarter Finals

Spoiler

Russia 0-2 France - took a risk here to rotate to try and keep key players fresh and 2 goals in the opening 2- mins before I shut down the game in the 2nd half was enough for us

Semi Finals

Spoiler

Spain 2-2p France - mental game this. a nervy 1st half saw us fall behind 5 mins before the break but 3 minutes later we levelled, 5 mins after the break we took the lead and looked comfortable till they scored in the 89th minute. Extra time was nervy but with no goals so it was down to pens. We scored all 5 of ours and they missed their 5th to send us to the final

Final

Spoiler

France 4-3 Germany - knew that opening game would be hard to top! Another cracker here as we raced into a 3-0 lead after 30 minutes. We were cruising and I started to shut the game down but then a goal in the 69th (nice) and 75th minutes had me worried, a counter in the 83rd minute gave us a 2 goal advantage again before an injury time goal made it nervy but we held on to win the Euros

And with that it is CHALLENGE COMPLETED!!!!!!

I never thought I'd ever be able to do this tbh so feel weirdly proud of myself :D

Also because I know @vikeologist loves a best 11 here's mine: (all from my time in Europe because I fell in love with my time at 3 clubs here. Plus all player pics from the end of the save so some of these not at their peak)

GK: Guillermo Reyes - Probably not the best keeper I had in the save but he was the most consistent. Signed for 4.4m as back up at Dortmund but became 1st choice as we finally dethroned Bayern
RB: Marcao - the Brazilian right back was singed from Brentford while at Dortmund and was excellent, was also part of my Brazil team that won the Copa America
CB: Thomas Polom - one of my fav players on this save. Scouted loads of international U21 sides and found him, singed for 8.5m and became a rock, turned down moves to other bigger sides to become my rock
CB: Antonis Atsaves - was already at Liverpool when I took over and was by far the best defender I managed
LB: Tobias Bachthaler - was my biggest signing for quite some time as I paid nearly 50m for him from Bayern, became a key player for my Liverpool side and was still playing for Germany in this past Euros
DM: Juruel Meulens - Found this lad playing for Utrecht and cost me around 40m but was excellent in the DM role for my Liverpool side
CM: Johnny Wesley - another Liverpool lad as he was at the club when I took over, couldn't get a game for us as ST but when played at CM he was a beast, so much so that he stayed there for 3 seasons and also played that role for my Brazil team
CM: Florian Kuhne - was a big fan of this lad, scouted him for a season or 2 before finally getting him for Dortmund as a 21 year old. Was a star as we overtook Bayern and is still world class
RW: Mateo Djermoune - Easily my fav player this save. Signed him for 2 sides (Liverpool and Dortmund) and also a key part of my France side. Was just a young player at Porto when my scouts found him and I kinda love him
LW: Jean-Marc Labadie - only one from my current PSG side but he's been class. Was my 1st signing for the club and I also gave him a chance for France. In the French league he scores and assists for fun and scored in the Champions league final as well
ST: Filippo Fiorito - this was tough as couple of lads come close but he was a goal machine for my Liverpool side. Was playing out wide when I took over but I moved him through the middle and he became the main man. Had a value of 200m at one point

Congrats @darren1983. Quite a quick completion as well. Well, a lot quicker than mine.

I plan to try this challenge on FM23 with the aim of finally setting a decent completion time.

That Hall of Fame is getting quite big now, but loses none of its kudos.

Didn't feel quick at times :D

I got very lucky with some moves (Milan especially) as in my head I planned 3 or 4 seasons at least per club till I got to the big 5 and then figured it would maybe be more like 2 seasons per club so it went quicker than I planned. I did enjoy later on in the save coming up against players I'd had elsewhere, I tried not to look at clubs once I left for fear of what the AI had done to them :D

Next Destination

So I left Lyon after winning pretty much everything I could with them. So I wanted to take on England or Germany next and I went on holiday until October and started applying for jobs.

The first job come available was the Man City job but I didn't get that job.

The next job come available was the team I took over and that is........

image.thumb.png.c1f92f743c9903a63879f53b44603f3c.png

Now this isn't as good as I thought it was when I took over as I didn't know the finances but I assumed it was Liverpool and the finances would be good.

Oh how wrong I was.

image.thumb.png.414b4cc67879d58ed8b3e81e81ae1033.png

£140m in debt. I dug a bit deeper and oh my god it is worse then I thought.

I had a look to see what the main expenses were and I was shocked when I saw that the club had spent £503m on Player Wages in one season.

£503m!!!!

So I then had a look at the squad and see who the high earners are and I was amazed to see what I saw.

Have a look at this.

image.thumb.png.3200f52b4ee6331d9a5d24a74d69e22c.png

9 players who are on £950k a week. This has got to be some sort of bug. I have put all these players on the Unwanted List and offered them out.

My main aim with Liverpool is to try get the debt down and get rid of the high earners.

This is going to be a challenge all on its own. I think I will be at Liverpool for a while :(

EDIT - I have managed to get rid of one of my high earners but I am paying half(£475k per week) of his wage but that is still £475k a week saved off the wage bill and £14m transfer fee.

Hopefully I can get rid of a few of the other high earners in January.

2023 Season Report:

Appointment

League - Cup

Liga Profesional de Futbol:
Not a huge lot to say about the league this year - my aim was to finish in the top 5 which is Copa Libertadores places and we achieved that aim. Ending up 7 points clear of 6th placed Newell's, a decent run of form at the end of the season confirmed us continental football for 2025.

Copa Argentina:
A couple of wins here saw us advance to the last 16 but were defeated by Talleres. A bit disappointing here to go out as it's something I felt I could've actually done well in.

The club itself are still in a bit of a mess. We're financially struggling but have a decent enough squad to get near the top, but not catch the two giants of Boca and River. I think we would potentially need a couple of years to actually get a chance at the league or the Libertadores, so the option to move is appealing to me. I imagine I'll still be at San Lorenzo for the 2025 season, but it might be after that where a change might be needed.

Well This Wasn't Expected

First time I have been sacked on this challenge but my squad was utter rubbish after I gutted the whole team to try get rid of as many of the high earners as possible.

I try again to find a decent Prem team. This season is a write off.

England

Didn't have any competitive games with England this season.

My Next Destination

I quit my role as England manager. I then holidayed for a bit and I got an interview with my next club and that is.....

image.thumb.png.229fc933db3db08b3cd7c1575879798a.png

I got the job at the start of the season after their manager Ivan Juric resigned.

They had just got promoted back to the Premiership after spending 1 season in the Championship.

So I should have plenty of time to get my squad in good shape this season. Maybe win the FA Cup would be nice in my first season.

Their finances are so much better then Liverpool's were.

Been quietly chipping away at this challenge but never had enough time to sit down and write any progress, finally knocked a couple of milestones off so thought i'd post. I'm a few seasons in so hope this is alright to post a brief recap up until now. Here's the starting profile.

Started with a few leagues loaded but mostly was waiting for a job in South Africa to appear as I wanted to tick off there first and it was there at the beginning of January that we got a job as Black Leopards manager.

2021/22 - Black Leopards | South Africa National First Division | Unexpected promotion.

Took over with the club in 8th. Squad looked alright, there were a few hidden gems in the reserves that came in to bolster the squad given the board had given me absolutely no transfer or wage budget to sort things out. Cobbled together a decent tactic and somehow didn't stop winning as we snatched the title and automatic promotion on the final day.

Crashed out of the cups at the first attempt.

Managed to squeeze a coaching license out of the board.

2022/23 - Black Leopards | South African Premier Soccer League | Even more unexpected survival.

This was gonna be rough. The entire squad bar 2 players had contracts expiring at the end of the previous season so it would be a miracle to piece together a squad at all let alone one capable of surviving. No money again but thanks to everyone leaving we at least had some wage budget to play with to get some freebies in. Somehow pieced together a squad that could compete and with a few loans from a parent club in Egypt managed to put together a run of form that eventually lead us to a 6th place finish.

Crashed out of the cups at the first attempt. Not arsed.

Got my National B and A licenses.

Took the Ivory Coast job at the end of July after they lost in the Quarter final of the AFCON.

2023/24 - Black Leopards / Sundowns | South African Premier Soccer League |New beginnings and Giant False 9's.

Pre-season was the same as the last one with Black Leopards. Scrambled to pick up freebies and loans to try and remain competitive after last seasons fluke top half finish. Season began disastrously and we couldn't score for love nor money. Found a Nigerian lad rotting in the reserves of SuperSport and got him in on loan to give us some firepower and eventually managed to get up to 5th against the odds again. Managing this team was beginning to become a chore as we climbed deeper and deeper into the red and I couldn't see a way out and was planning on resigning at the end of the season when in the middle of April Sundowns sacked their manager and offered me the role. My eyes lit up at the not negative bank balance and the enormous (for Africa) transfer budget. I couldn't take it quick enough. Guided them to 4th in the league

Both clubs I managed went out in the first round of every domestic cup competition.

When I took over , Sundowns were still in the African equivalent of the Europa League, the confederations cup. Guided them through and won our first silverware* of the save. Happy days.

Ivory Coast

Took over a pretty decent Ivory Coast side and managed to get a decent tune out of them, including the highly unlikely success of Sebastian Haller as a False 9. Lost our first game, went unbeaten after that and qualified for AFCON easily. Results 23 | Results 24

2024/25 - Sundowns |South African Premier Soccer League | First title and AFCON Heartbreak.

Gleefully spent 2 Million pounds on the squad and added a bit of quality and injection of youth to an already very good team.  We hit the ground running scoring for tun in the first half of the season as our expensive Ghanaian and Ivorian strikers piled up goals and assists for fun and we went into the mid season break for AFCON with a perfect record. Bit of a wobble after the break and a winless run of 4 draws and 2 losses saw the title race be closer than it should have been as Orlando came roaring back and everything was pointing to a final day decider at their place until they decided to **** the bed at home to an already relegated team and give us our first title of the save.

Cups were a bit better this season as we finally had a decent squad. Won the knockout cup.  Lost in the semi final of the Super 8 Cup. Lost in the Quarter final of the FA Cup.

Retained our Confederations cup crown which was nice. Scored 14 goals past a semi professional team from Mauritus to stat pad before beating teams from Ghana and Guinea to get to the groups. Topped the group pretty comfortably before walking our way through Douanes and Zamalek to the final which we won on penalties. Yay another trophy.

Sampdoria met the release clause of our best player and first Wonderkid Brian Sait so replacing him next season will be a big ask. The squad is absolutely stacked for young talent , so I'm feeling confident that we can win the Champions League. The other big South African teams are all doing excellently in continental football as well, Amazulu have won it twice in a row and Orlando Pirates have been in the final 2 out of the 4 seasons of the save.

Ivory Coast - AFCON 2025

Sailed into the AFCON full of confidence as we were on a fairly lengthy unbeaten run. In our group was Tunisia, Kenya and Angola. We won all 3 fairly comfortably  and got rewarded with a tricky knockout stage which we navigated pretty easily to be honest. Thrashing Cameroon 4-1 , easily dispatching Morocco 3-1 and then beating DR Congo in the semi final 2-1. The semi final was the most frustrating match in the save as we were 1-0 down after 2 minutes. Amad Diallo gave away the penalty and then promptly scored twice to give us the lead before getting sent off. Proper chaos merchant. All this happened within 18 minutes. We held on and made the final but not first without losing Haller and Zaha to injury. Adding to Diallo's suspension meaning we'd be without our front 3 for the final against Nigeria.

The final was a roller coaster of emotion truth be told. We fell behind early as Alex Iwobi suddenly turned into Ronaldinho and played us off the park for 40 minutes and we fell 2 behind. Nigeria shut up shop in the 2nd half but we didnt really take advantage We were a bit flat without our front 3 and did well to get a goal back on 80 minutes. Scored a 91st minute penalty to take it to extra time which we didn't really deserve if I'm being honest. Extra time we were dead on our feet and when we gave away a 116th minute pen there was no real way back into the game and it was heartbreak.

The final was cruel as I thought we were comfortably the best team the entire tournament and then injuries and suspensions killed us and Nigeria took full advantage. I will keep going with Ivory Coast until at least the World Cup and then will reassess where the save is at. Would like to have ticked off the African Champions league and AFCON by 2027 but this is an aging squad so might be something to revisit later on.

Next season is all about the FA Cup and Champions League so will likely invest in some depth to compete on those fronts and still mount a title challenge.

League - Cup - South America

Liga Profesional de Futbol:
Literally the same season as we had last year. We finish 4th, immediately behind Talleres, Boca and then eventual champions River. The league itself is working it's way down to 20 teams, so a few less for the same end result was.... not interesting at all.

Copa Argentina:
Again, we have exactly the same season. Out in the last 16/7th round to Talleres. We did get a little closer this time and went out on penalties though!

A bit of a short update, but it was essentially the same season. I don't think I've had something like this happen for a long time! I'll definitely be moving on next season as this feels like wasting time a little bit. Thankfully we have the World Cup in the middle of the year so we'll be picking up an International job for sure. We've also got all of our badges done now, so our reputation is fairly high.

As the screenshots show, we've had a fantastic season. I built the team well and we've got some real stars in this team who I'd love to see go over to Europe in the coming years. Gomez is in the Colombian National Team as is Galarza. Goalkeeper Cabrera is on the fringes of being in the Argentinian squad. That translated to the pitch where we took the fight to River Plate and won the Liga Profesional. We won the Copa Argentina playing teams like Independiente, Huracan and Velez before a final against well-built side Vila Dalmine. They, and their striker Tinari, became frustrating players to play against in both divisions. It felt like they'd always score. But we won the Copa Argentina.

The Copa Libertadores was tough. We had a simple group but then had to face a Palmeiras side who finished 2nd in the Brazilian Serie A, Boca Juniors, Gimnasia (LP) and Huracan in the final. They were all tough, and tight, games. In no event were we clearly the better side and demolished them. We had to fight. But we won the Copa Libertadores so South America is done. I took a team that had achieved nothing to a Copa Libertadores and a league title.

Wolves 36/37 Season Review

I managed to win the FA Cup in my first season with Wolves which was my main objective this season.

I also managed to get 4th place in the league so I got a chance of winning the Champions League but probably not going to happen with this current Wolves team.

England: 2048 European Championship

Having chalked off another two club level trophies with FC Porto I handed in my resignation and shifted my focus into trying to lift a trophy with England at the European Championships in France. Having reached the semi finals of the World Cup two years previous I had a fair level of confidence that we could string together another good run in a major tournament. It was definitely important to do well though as the strong squad I had was beginning to age worryingly and I wasn’t sure what the next generation of players would be capable of.

GS.png.f499e2e299eccc4d7dfcbea339a4cc4a.png

We managed to qualify from our group with ease and perhaps more impressively without conceding a single goal. We started with a nervy 1-0 win over Croatia, as a 93rd international goal for veteran Arsenal striker Stuart Griffiths proved enough. A 0-0 draw with Italy followed before we finished the group with a 4-0 thumping of Slovakia. The ease of the win enabling me to make early substitutions to rest our key men.

KO.png.70b34bebbd6d9baf26b035c16037338c.png

We started the knockout phase of the tournament poorly despite taking a very early lead against Serbia. We quickly conceded an equaliser and then just couldn’t find another breakthrough. We were lucky enough that in a surprising turn of events we managed to prevail in a penalty shoot out though, booking a quarter final spot where we would meet France.

As expected the game against France was a fairly even affair where neither side looked like running away with it. A wonderful strike by midfielder Marc Duffy gave us the lead just before half time and I decided to try and hold ok to what we had through the second half rather than chasing further goals. We defended valiantly throughout the second period and as the game went on we seemed to become more assured. We had a goal ruled out with twenty minutes remaining but thankfully managed to double the lead just moments later. At 2-0 I felt able to relax and start to think about the semi final match where we would meet Spain.

Facing the tougher of the semi finals we produced our best display of the tournament as we brushed aside a strong Spanish side with ease. An early goal gave us the edge and we never looked back. Two goals in the first half and a further three in the second period saw us cruise into the final with a 5-0 victory and the most dominant of semi final displays.

Final.png.45d23dc49a1da998866ef0322bb6817e.png

Awaiting us we’re Belgium and an opportunity to extract revenge after our World Cup semi final defeat to them two years ago. We came into the game as narrow favourites and to be fair that’s how the game panned out. We were the better side but only by the barest of margins. The longer the match went on the more likely extra time and penalties became as we simply couldn’t find the breakthrough. Then disaster struck. As the clock ticked to 90 minutes a defensive error allowed a header from the far post that just crept under the crossbar. We had conceded and with that our chances of lifting the trophy disintegrated into thin air. Or so I thought. Just a couple of minutes later and with virtually the last kick of the game substitute David Hanson somehow found himself through on goal and slotted home an equaliser. We had scrambled the game to extra time, and done it in dramatic circumstances. Unfortunately that was as good as it got though. A goal for Belgium just 90 seconds into extra time put us behind and try as we might we just couldn’t find the back of the net. We dominated the extra half hour but left the tournament empty handed.

Another major international tournament comes and goes as my hopes for chalking my way through the international side of things continued to stutter along. I’m growing increasingly frustrated at my inability to win on the international stage and I’m not really sure where to turn from here. I’m currently debating the possibility of resigning from my England post as the squad is pretty old and quite a big rebuild is required. I’m also still without a job at club level and that’s extremely frustrating. For now I’ll focus on looking at new opportunities and I’ll see where that ends up taking me.

MINEROS DEFEAT TIJUANA 5-2 ON AGGREGATE TO WIN THE LIGA MX CLAUSURA

It's only our first season in the Liga MX but we absolutely destroyed the Expansion League and we've been fantastic ever since we got promoted. In the Apertura, we struggled at the end of that part of the season and lost in the Quarter Final to a Monterrey team who were just better than us over the two games. However, when the Clausura came around, we were fantastic and one of the best teams in the league. We got second in the league stage which earned us a Preliminary Round bye which we used to good effect against Tigres to seal the win that got us the tie after a 3-3 draw.

Fortunately, the other Semi Final game was Tijuana and Club America. Club America were a good team and would have likely beaten us as they have in all games they played against us. However, they struggled against Tijuana and lost against Tijuana who finished 6th. A comeback from 2-0 down earned us a draw away. However, we didn't need to score away since we comfortably won 3-0 to win the Clausura and make it our 8th milestone in the challenge.

Title 8 is in the bag, the CONCACAF Champions League with Philadelphia Union.

It took extra time and the distinct feeling I was being FM's - their one shot went in. I've never seen xG like it in this game

But we did it! Marinelli making up for his tame early penalty with two beauties.

Now it's a resignation and off to either Europe or South America. I got hunted by Juventus in my time at Philly so I'm hoping a big team will come in again.

EDIT: they don't get much bigger!!

I managed to win the Italian Cup with a lovely 2-0 win Vs Juventus.

Sadly I wasn't able to get anywhere near title contention but I am hoping to get closer then the 6th place finish I got this season with Lazio.

image.thumb.png.0ec54b6b2e0e1883b6df67b5ac641bd8.png

The Juventus manager's status is very insecure so I might apply for the job if they sack him as I have a better chance of winning the title with them then I do with Lazio. I also need to try win the Champions League again to play in the Club World Cup in 2041.

23 goals and 3 assists for Valia. A good striker who got us our 6th place finish.

I resigned from Lazio as another Italian club come available and it wasn't Juventus and it wasn't my favourite Italian team AC Milan but it was Milan's rivals Inter Milan who finished 2nd in the league last season.

Let's Go!!!

image.thumb.png.6630250f3b7ce47d5fddc549cdbfe612.png

There finances are brilliant with £195m in the bank and I have £120m to spend on new players.

They already have a great squad by the looks of it with a lot of high valued players.

MINEROS WIN THE COPA MX AND CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Spoiler

1569040_20220705004053_1.thumb.png.f3361418ff1f0eaa57fe0fd2f24fe168.png

There we go. We've ticked off two more competitions to make it #9 and #10. It was arguably more difficult to reach the Copa MX Final than the CONCACAF Champions League final. In two games, we needed penalty shootouts to progress past Tigres in the Second Round and Toluca in the Semi Final. The Quarter Final was easy against Puebla and that was more replicant of the final.

We were dominant but had no reward until the 40th minute when a fantastic ball from Gallaga sent through Aguilar for a one on one with the goalkeeper to blast the ball into the roof of the net. Gallaga got his goal in first half injury time when left back Almaguer got to the byline and a low ball into the compact area found Gallaga to slot it into the net at the near post. That was 2-0 at halftime. In the second half, we continued our dominance. Then a corner in the 74th minute found Rivero's head to flick on to an unmarked Lozano for an open goal. 3-0 and we made no mistakes.

It was a fairly simple journey through the CONCACAF Champions League. We had a simple group, the third placed team from that group in the Second Round. The only Mexican team we played was Cancun in the Group Stage and we lost. On our journey, we played Charlotte FC, Cincinatti and Colombus Crew before this final. They were comfortable games and I expected as much from this. But what I didn't take into account was a New York City team playing at Yankee Stadium. If you didn't know, that's in New York. This is a home game for them.

I can't explain how exciting that CONCACAF Champions League final was. You just had to be there. So many twists and turns. We were worried for a long while. We took the lead through Saul Quintero in the 20th minute but they equalised in the 22nd. They were on the front foot and got their deserved goal in the 50th to lead 2-1.

Then our central midfielder Gallaga rifled a shot into the back corner of the net from the edge of the box to equalise. The momentum shifted and we were on the front foot again. Quintero lost his marker in the box for a comfortable pass from Jara to blast it into the roof of the net.

We won 3-2 and scored some fantastic goals. A great match for the neutrals. I'm sorry to any Mineros fans who need to lie down after that match.

That's #10.

Internacional - Appointment
Brazil - Appointment

As you can see, we've managed a double change and a complete trip to Brazil! We managed to pick up the Internacional job and surprisingly the Brazil job after a Quarter Final exit at the 2026 World Cup. Though that Brazil appointment page has to be the least amount of text for an announcement that I've seen for a while!

2026 league win

2026 copa libertadores

League - Cup - South America

A lovely double means South America is complete for club trophies! I could do with a lot less of the drama though, not sure how I was able to cope with both the league and the Libertadores.

Serie A:
We sneak home a Serie A win here on goal difference as Internacional themselves retain the title whilst I win it for the first time. We took over halfway through the season and managed to claw back the gap and take home the title.

Copa do Brasil:
A disappointing semi final exit, though I wasn't as annoyed thanks to the Libertadores penalty win a week earlier. A bit frustrating, but the other silverware made up for it.

Copa Libertadores:
Thank god for no away goals, as we absolutely sneak past Athletico Paranaense in the Semi Final before a very very comfortable 2-0 win over Sao Paulo in the final. Thank god for no stupid glitch this time, so I can finally feel like I can get this challenge started this time.

Inter Milan 40/41 Season Review

download.png.e312079a6c5cd00e6f76a7802c62cc1a.png

I managed to conquer Italy in my first season with Inter Milan who were easily the best team in the league before I took over. This was as easy as it was when I managed Bayern Munich.

I won the Seria A as well as the Champions League and Italian Cup again.

image.thumb.png.ed62f88222a0f9193ac6f3afbd45365d.pngimage.thumb.png.2af1aab9744bd269acd17058e1d818c7.png

I will now stay with Inter Milan until the Club World Cup is over and then I will resign and look for a job in Spain.

Best Player - Risto Lazarevski - 30 Macedonian Striker

image.thumb.png.d6a2dbe358d2e3ba41ccbe5e3da9507f.png

Lazarevski is a goal machine with 36 goals in 35 games. The main man at Inter.

EDIT - I just played the Club World Championships after posting this post so I thought I edit it instead of writing a new post.

I just won the Club World Championships.

My Next Destination...

image.thumb.png.044a86bc43d7a3a563a3f35266377552.png

A historic Spanish club. I take over Athletic Bilbao in the month of November with us yet to play in the Spanish Cup and currently 13th in the league. My aim is to try win the Spanish Cup in my first season there and then try win the title or get a job with one of the bigger teams in the league. The dream would be to get the Real Madrid of Barcelona job.

Athletic Bilbao 41/42 Season Review

I managed to hit my objective for the season with a Spanish Cup win with Athletic Bilbao in my first season.

We also managed to get a top 4 spot in the league.  Real Madrid managed to get 27 points more then Bilbao so we got a task to catch up with them but I always do better in my 2nd season in charge of any club I have managed.

I will be hoping the Real Madrid, Barcelona or Athletico Madrid job somehow comes available.

So when I saw the Chelsea job became available, I decided to have a little look to see if it was a job I was interested in doing. I don't normally agree to jobs before I complete what I need, but looking at Chelsea's squad there are a lot of players 29+ and it's a project I thought I'd enjoy. If things had gone pear shaped in China I would have had to go back but it worked out well all things considered. Chelsea are also the current Premier League holders and sit in 11th after 13 or so games in the season, I think they also have the best striker in the game in Thomas Fleury  going by his value which was around £300M it has seemed to of dropped now I've taken over but he is someone I want to build this team around. I'm also going to be trying to create a new formation as so far I've rotated between the 4-2-3-1 and 5-2-3 Wide. Thankfully when one didn't work for my team the other was excellent, not sure what I'll try next...

So since I took over Chelsea mid way through last season, we had an ageing squad with some good value which gave me a chance for an overhaul and boy did I overhaul. The first transfer window was the busiest of the two but I felt I had a squad of competing after that window. In the second window we added a little depth and a top Centre Back to complete the squad. We went on to win the League and the FA Cup, the league looks more exciting than it actually was Man Utd were 6 points behind with two games left and we had by far a better goal difference. I was going to stay at Chelsea to attempt to win the Champions League but I haven't been on FM properly for 2-3 months so I'm going to move on and see what jobs become available. It's also a World Cup year this season so hopefully plenty of jobs become available after that.

I've finally managed to land myself my second international job! I had the option of Brazil and France and decided to go with Brazil, there are not many club jobs available at the moment so will bide my time until one that I want becomes available.

FC Barcelona 42/43 Season Review

I dominated Spain but I knew I would as soon as I got the Barcelona job. I am not being arrogant saying that but you would have to be rubbish to not win the title with Barcelona.

Best Player - Lukas Rasmussen - 27 Year Old Danish Striker

image.thumb.png.7273ceeca0e76b68d81d53f32ca32997.png

Yes it is former Wolves and Bayern Munich player Lukas Rasmussen who was at Barcelona when I took over making it the 3rd club I have managed him in.

He is a great striker with 47 goals and 8 assists for the season. A legend.
