Wiggins Top Boys
Tbh USA are playing really well. Good shape and hard to play round or through, but they are as being as patient as we are and as soon as there's an opportunity to overload the chase down that pass to try and counter. Not sure whether we should bore this out and be even more cautious and nick something in the second half or pick up the tempo ourselves and get forward and press when they have the ball. Mr Adam
I think the game plan is to play it around until the Americans press and then play through. Except the Americans aren’t pressing as high as we were expecting and we’ve been unable or incapable to change approach on the fly it just feels, genuinely, like Southgate is hoping we get to 0-0 At half time
GunmaN1905
I'm trying really hard, but I just don't understand what's Mount's role in this setup.

GunmaN1905
Idk what's going on with Rice, but this is a texbook example of an overhyped player so far. Darius1998
I like how USA have played so far. That midfield runs nonstop and the fullbacks are getting forward well. A decent forward away from being a real threat though.

Mr Adam
Bellingham really needs to be in alongside Rice to help him out a bit. Not bellinghams fault. But both him and Mount are playing in positions that the ball ain’t going to

Astafjevs
Not good from England but it's one of those games where their quality and better players will tell, and they'll eek out a 1-0 or 2-0 from nothing, while the US will miss a few good openings

Because that's kind of how they're playing. If they can go 1-0 up then great, but if not then just make sure US don't have a lead to defend in the last third of the game Think that flatters us. We're not playing boring possession football or sitting deep and waiting for them to give us the ball back, we're getting caught in possession and with runs in behind. Think our scout report said "these guys couldn't even beat Wales" and Gareth didn't do the warn against complacency team talk. But at this stage, we look like we should be making substitutions to make sure we eke out the 1-0 To be fair to the US, they've actually been pretty good rather than relying on us to be horribly bad. Wiggins Top Boys
No need to panic just yet. Would bring on a foden or a Grealish to come get the ball a bit deeper to try and make it easier to break through their shape

Even Bellingham is playing in this weird “wide number 10” type role on the other side Mount is doing the same. We seem to have a back 5 and a front 5, and it’s making us so easy to play through and so hard to play out

craigcwwe
Shocking first half from us. Too negative, happy to waste time passing it around the back. Too scared to play into midfield. Playing right into their hands. They'll be loving it. Should even be ahead if not for a shocking miss from McKennie. Get Sterling and Mount off for Rashford and Foden. Sterling has been the worst player on the pitch and Mount has yet again done nothing good for England. XuluBak
Disappointed to have nothing to show from that. Aside from a brain gone moment to concede a pen, defense has held up better than expected through 1.5 matches. Midfield has been fantastic, again, and it's not against Wales this time. WRU striker?
