Stuniverse
Preview - Sandnes Ulf (home) Eliteserien -- -- -- We didn't become Eliteserien Champions last season, retaining the title this season by taking any game lightly. Our de mørkeblå supporters have been unbelievable this season and we want to sign off the Eliteserien season in style in front of them in a packed SR-Bank Arena. I wouldn't say it's a dead rubber as there's professional pride to play for. As the two longest serving managers in Eliteserien, Thomas Holm has 61 days on me, we've had lots of encounters during my time at Viking. We've only lost once to Sandnes Ulf during my time at Viking, back in 2031, and we're confident of getting a positive result for our fans today. Although, having said that, the last three encounters have all been 1-1 draws so that's where the smart money should go. Bodø/Glimt are 6th, after recovering very well after a poor start to the campaign, so the season hasn't been as bad as some are making out. For what it's worth, I hope Bodø/Glimt stick with Thomas Thomasberg. We have a clean bill of health, although we're without Daniel and Mamady who are out in Zambia for the Africa Cup of Nations. -- Expected Line-up
Stuniverse
Saturday 1st December 2035 Viking (1st) v Sandnes Ulf (7th) Eliteserien -- Spoiler -- -- Kasper Jakobsen got off to a somewhat shaky start to the season but he's now showing the sort of form that convinced us to pay Bodø/Glimt £3.5M for him two seasons ago. As a Viking Academy Graduate, Edvin Austbø is proving to be a true Viking legend. I'm delighted with the win. When you look at the scoreline, and the stats, it looks on paper like a comfortable win but the 18,250 inside SR-Bank Arena know it was anything but. I thought we were always on top, but Sandnes Uld were well organised and made things very difficult for us. Sandnes Ulf took the lead, midway through the first half, totally against the run of play when Jørgen Rydningen got the better of Per Joar Hægstad Johnsen at the far post to head in the opening goal of the game. We had plenty of chances to equalise, but our former goalkeeper Daniel Gjerde Sætren (7.2) made some outstanding saves to preserve his clean sheet. Spoiler On 54 minutes we changed to an Attacking mentality. We equalised on 70 minutes when Bill Freeman, clean through, with only Daniel Gjerde Sætren to beat, made no mistake. Henrique Araújo only had Daniel Gjerde Sætren to beat on 80 minutes but his shot crashed against the bar. A minute later, Costel Tilincă headed in Kasper Jakobsen's free-kick at the far post. The officials disallowed it for offside, but VAR overturned the decision and the goal stood. We switched back to our normal Positive mentality then. Four minutes later, Edvin Austbø played a one-two with Costel Tilincă, dribbled into the penalty area, and hit the ball across Daniel Gjerde Sætren into the bottom corner of the net. Again the officials disallowed it for offside, but VAR overturned the decision and the goal stood. I'm thrilled we could sign off our Title-winning Eliteserien campaign with a win at the SR-Bank Arena in front of our wonderful de mørkeblå supporters. -- -- -- -- Edited September 13 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Saturday 1st December 2035 Diambou Set To Join Hoffenheim -- -- 5 hours ago, Stuniverse said: Sunday 25th November 2035 Bids For Diambou -- Reveal hidden contents I spoke to Mamady Diambou's agent before Mamady flew out to Zambia for the Africa Cup of Nations because at 33 years of age, and with some good young midfielders coming through like Brede Norbye, I thought it might be time to cash-in on Mamady if we could. Mamady's agent said his client would be open to a move and that he would get on the phone as he was confident there were teams that would be willing to make a bid. And, true to his word, three bids have come in. All three bids accepted. Having to continue to pay some of Mamady's wages isn't ideal, but it's not like we don't have the wage budget to accommodate it.

Stuniverse
Preview - Manchester City (home) UEFA Champions League League Path -- -- It's going to be a special evening at the SR-Bank Arena to finish off our 2035 season. Way back in 2031, Manchester City came to the SR_Bank Arena and taught us a football lesson. Erling Haaland was far too good for us that night as he scored four goals. Spoiler It will be a very difficult challenge for us tonight but it'll be interesting to see how much we've improved. We were the underdogs last time out against Marseille in the Champions League and we won that match quite comfortably. So you never know. It is what it is and we have no control over it. At least we've had time to rest tired legs and prepare to host Manchester City. Daniel Daga's Nigeria and Mamady Diambou's Mali have both qualified from their respective Africa Cup of Nations Groups, and congratulations to them, so neither of them will be back with us any time soon. We have a couple of fitness issues but no actual injuries. -- Expected Line-up Edited September 13 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Tuesday 11th December 2035 Viking (Norway) v Manchester City (England) UEFA Champions League League Path -- -- -- Pinch me? Am I dreaming? Four years ago Manchester City came here and blew us away, winning 6-2. Tonight, we've won 4-0 and thoroughly deserved it. I've witnessed some electric atmospheres here in the SR-Bank Arena but tonight the place was rocking like I've never seen or heard it before. I love this group of players, and I've said how proud I am of them many times, but I don't think I've ever been prouder of them than I am tonight. Anders Hartveit Ryste got us off to a great start after only four minutes when he swept Edvin Austbø's low cross into the net. On the half hour, Anders Hartveit Ryste headed his second goal after Costel Tilincă headed Bill Freeman's cross into the danger area. At half time we replaced two players who were on yellow cards. Joakim Berg Nundal scored our third with a header at the far post, from Edvin Austbø's deep cross on 62 minutes. And Kasper Jakobsen rounded off a special, special night with our fourth goal late on after great work down the right by Ola Johannes Kleppa Christensen. Spoiler We even had the luxury of sending 17-year old Robert Reyes out there for the final 18+ minutes. I hope it's a night Robert will never forget. Well that's us done now until next year so, yes, the players will be getting as much rest as we can give them. -- Edited September 13 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
22 minutes ago, Deisler26 said: That is a lot of speculation It is indeed a lot of speculation, @Deisler26... but I'm getting used to it now as it's been like that for the last six or seven transfer windows and (tempting fate) I haven't yet lost a player I wanted to keep. And so far, although the window's not open yet, speculation is all it is because the only bids we've received are for Mamady Diambou which I accepted because, at 33, I think it's time to move him on while I can still get a transfer fee for him. The close working relationships I have with the players (check out the Dynamics in the "Thursday 13th December 2035 / End of Season Team Meeting" post above on this page) work in my favour because, for the most part, I can reject bids for my players and I don't hear any complaint from them. Sometimes a player will ask to talk to me and we'll agree a fee, slightly in excess of his valuation and, thus far, I've not received a bid under these circumstances that reached the value we'd agreed. A few bids have come close, within £1M or so, but I've not lost a player yet. Currently, there's only Daniel Daga I have this promise with - the price is £8M which, I think, is £2M above his upper valuation. Of course, one transfer window my luck will run out and it's all going to blow up in my face but, hopefully, not this coming season. On the other hand, I'm very happy with the three deals we've done for players who will join us in January. Stuniverse
Monday 24th December 2035 Players Report Back For Pre-Season -- Christmas Eve and the Board required the players to report back for pre-season. Even Daniel Daga has reported back after Nigeria were knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations in the Second Round in a heart-breaking penalty shootout loss against Ghana. Mamady Diambou, who will be leaving us soon to join Hoffenheim, remains in Zambia as Mali prepare to face DR Congo in the Africa Cup of Nations Semi Final. After the players had their medical assessments I did what I always do: I thanked them, I wished them and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and gave them another two weeks off. I'll see the players again in January when we will prepare for our last two Champions League League Path matches. Stuniverse
Monday 24th December 2035 Surplus to Requirements -- There's a few players who will be leaving us before the 2036 season starts. -- - After two very good seasons with us, Mamady Diambou will join Hoffenheim. Spoiler - And Julian Gonstad, who struggled this season, after two good seasons for us, has spent the second half of this season out on loan with Hønefoss. We've agreed a fee with Hønefoss and Julian will make the move permanently if they agree personal terms. Spoiler - Also leaving us will be... After three very good seasons here at Viking, Mathias Fjørtoft Løvik struggled for playing time with the emergence of Øyvind Bekkevold so I think it's time to, reluctantly, release Mathias as his contract expires at the end of the year. Spoiler - After five very good seasons here, Lasse Nordås has struggled for playing time and goals this season, his sixth season with us, and I can't see that improving next season as we'll look to give more playing time to some of our youngsters. I've spoken to Lasse's agent and there's no interest him in right now so we may need to consider releasing him if we get no takers in the transfer window. Spoiler - After making the decision that my captain Jasper Torkildsen will be my #1 goalkeeper, I'm uncertain about the future of two of my goalkeepers. - Hans Jørgen Solberg, like Jasper Torkildsen, is a current Norway international and I don't really want to lose him, although £14.5K per week is a lot of money for a back-up. I'm going to try and keep him happy with some game time but I won't be actively looking to sell him even though there is some interest in him from the Saudi League. That said, if Hans Jorgen does complain and makes an issue of it then I will look to find him a move. Spoiler - The other goalkeeper is Viking Academy graduate Roger Vestgøte. Roger's out-of-contract at the end of the year and, honestly, we don't think he's going to make it into the Viking first team but, as we're short of good, young goalkeepers, we have offered Roger a new contract and the decision is down to him. If he signs and stays, then we'll do our best for him and see how he gets on. Should Roger decide to leave, then he will go with our best wishes but I won't lose any sleep over him going. Stuniverse
Monday 24th December 2035 Youth Prospects to Assess -- Playing Time Changes -- First Team These are the players already in the First Team squad who I wasn't able to give as much playing time to as I'd hoped. Dawid Zając has had a few successful OBOS-ligaen loans but we've never been able to find him an Eliteserien loan. Dawid made one Eliteserien sub appearance and two Cupen starts for us this season. I've not given up on him yet, but I'm not sure he's going to make it into Viking's first team. - I have high hopes for Robert Reyes. He started the season on loan in Tier 4 but that ended early when he fractured his lower leg. I was able to give him 18+ minutes as a substitute against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League towards the end of the season. - It's been a frustrating season for Tor Helge Vatten who hasn't really kicked on as I'd hoped, although it was difficult finding him playing time at right-back and left-back with the players ahead of him. I did give him limited playing time when Sindre Grønvold was out injured but Tor Helge didn't do enough to force his way in. Tor Helge Vatten is on the Norway manager's radar though as Kjetil Knutsen called him up to the Norway senior squad when Sindre Grønvold was injured. - And then there's Viking Academy Graduate Jan Erik Dang who I did name on the bench a few times but, the way those games played out, I was never able to get him onto the pitch. -- Second Team These are the players I'm considering calling-up from the Second Team to take a look at in pre-season: -- U19s And these are the best prospects in the U19s: -- Thoughts on any of these prospects would be welcomed and appreciated. -- Tagged: @Blarney, @BML, @Carambau, @cerud, @Dean Gripton, @Deisler26, @g1nh0, @Hootieleece, @I have nothing to say, @JaytheGreat, @Jogo Bonito, @phnompenhandy, @Paggioram, @Punch, @samboing, @SixPointer, @Vakama2619, @warlock, @XaW Note: If you no longer wish to be tagged in posts like this, please let me know by Direct Message and I'll remove you from my tag list for future posts.
