Never thought I'd say that, but Dembele really should have taken the shot there instead of looking for Mbappe.

Yep. He’s been a spark since coming on, and Mbappe clearly isn’t himself.

I get the point but in the case of France, I absolutely disagree.

You see it any time they go behind in a game, Deschamps takes the handbrake off and just like magic they can actually play good attacking football.

There's no doubt that this defensive security is exactly what he wants. He's probably delighted with how this game is going right now.

I don't disagree with that at all.

My point was that international football can be more dysfunctional than club football, but that doesn't always result in tighter matches at the end of a competition.

The level of defending in this match has been pretty high. Can't always say that at this tournament.

Think it's just a matter of waiting for penalties now.

Portugal seem more interested in scoring than France which is surprising. Wouldn't want to be anywhere near a penalty shoot out against Portugal.

Sort of, they make sure they are in a good shape when passing it so it's not too dangerous if they lose it. After a corner they literally wait until they are all in position to start passing around again :D

The Nose Breaking Issue was obviously too much for Kylian.

Leao off as well. Didn't even get booked for diving this time. :(

I don't fancy France if this goes to penalties. I know it's not always a great barometer, but I look at their team and don't see many penalty takers, let alone takers under pressure.

I think Costa might be quite useful at intimidating players and keeping the ball out the net too

On the other hand, France have basically played for penalties....

Conceicao Jr has been a bright spot since he came on.

Was just saying that. Didn’t like the sub at the time but he is making things happen.

If he can't make 15 mins to take a pen, why wasn't he taken off earlier?

Because he’s Mbappe, and you hope he can figure it out on the fly, not just for this game, but the next one, if you advance.

(I was surprised he wasn’t subbed off earlier, but that’s the why)
