  1. Season 3, 2024 - Huachipato, Chilean First Division First season with Huachipato, it was evident that it was a bit of a sideways move from Deportes Copiapo so needed to do a mini rebuild. Unfortunately the Copa Libertadores qualification came too soon and wasnt able to register my new players. In the second round of qualification, we had Venezuelan competition in Estudiantes de Merida who really werent at our level, 6 - 0 on aggregate. Next up and final qualification before the group stage was Nacional from Uruguay. Despite being outplayed away up first, we had opportunities to salvages something from the game that we ended up losing 2 - 1. We did miss a penalty to open the scoring and we did cop the second goal in the 92nd which in the end was telling as we drew the return leg at home 1 - 1. Conceding a penalty in the 78th minute hurt. This put us in the Sudamericana where we didnt make it out of the group stage. In the league, it was a slow start and by the 7th game we were sitting in 9th spot. Once we were knocked out of the Sudamericana, we then went on a 14 game unbeaten streak which then put us in the challenge for Libertadores qualification. The transfer window came and went and I topped up with a midfielder and winger but after the window shut, my 21yo Argentinian defender (who didnt need to be registered) min release clause was triggered by River for 1.5m and i also lost my two starting wingers for 2 months due to injury in the same game and the season kind of derailed a little. We ended up losing 3 of the last 6 games only winning two and finished in 4th place. The 4th Libertadores spot went to the Cup finalist unfortunately. In the Cup we were knocked out convincingly in the semi final against eventual winners Universidad Catolica who did the double. Special mention goes to Sepulveda who was a phenomenon up front for us in his first season. Averaged more than a goal a game in all competitions he played and only 4 pens in his 59 goals! Ive been given a massive warchest of 3m in transfer funds next season, i dont think we're too far off challenging for the title which would be nice. Ive never managed in Chile before this save so would be fab to tick the title off
  2. Quick update to state that I've got a couple new gigs, one being with club Huachipato who approached me after a decent season in the Chilean First division. Huachipato finished in 6th but came runners up in the Chilean Cup and qualified for the Libertadores and my thinking was they were a bigger club. Once I accepted, i quickly realised it was pretty much a sideways move, oh well: second bit of news is I am now an international manager with: They were knocked out of the African Nations in the QF to Congo recently so the position became available. Next up is qualification to the World Cup later in the year
  3. Season 2, 2023 - Deportes Capiopo First full season as manager was a successful one. I've managed to train up to National B and currently studying towards A. We were given a warchest of 1m on transfer funds upon promotion and for this level that was plenty! The squad i inherited was an ageing one so I turned over the majority of the team and also maximised the 5 foreign players we're able to register. In the league, we were generally in the midst of a title challenge however in the second half of the season we lost too many games including 3 in a row leading up to the final game cost us a spot in next year's Copa Libertadores as we slide to 5th place. In the Cup we were disappointing, getting knocked out in the first time of asking against lower league opposition. Towards the end of the season, we had a takeover, although i dont think it will change much as we're making a 100k monthly profit on average each month so finances are quite healthy for a charge next season.
  4. giving this a try after a few unsuccessful tries at the Youth Challenge. Bought myself a new laptop so have just about every league loaded and after holidaying for a few months, took the offer at: They were sitting pretty in 6th position and only 1 point away from 5th place which qualifies for the playoffs with only two games remaining. First game was away to third spot San Luis which we won 3 - 2 after being up 3 - 0 until very late. Then at home to 4th last ended with a win and got me into the play offs in 4th spot. We were drawn against 5th spot San Luis and after a sloppy 1 - 1 draw at home, we finishes the job in the 91st minute away from home. Also had a disallowed goal in the 94th minute but in the end it wasnt needed. Surprisingly we cruised through the final play off two leg tie 3 - 0 on aggregate. Very opportunistic time to join this club (benefit of starting up so many leagues) and after 6 games of management, I'll be plying my trade in the Chilean First division. This is me, a few months in - apologies i forgot to take a screenshot at the start:
  5. Season 8 - 2031 - First Division Finally our first taste of the first division with the pure aim of staying in this league and consolidating. With only 1 team getting relegated, i had high hopes. Whilst both Stages werent pretty, we were never really in trouble of getting relegated, finishing 14th in both Stages. In terms of the team, we started a new GK, RB and MC replacing players that were either sold or left the club. Leagues: Finances in the top league are quite generous and we're now making healthy profits. We managed to improve our junior coaching and training facilities to excellent. Havent seen youth facilities option pop up which is stuck at Great for now. We've been filling out our 19,500 capacity stadium week in week out so the Board have acknowledged we need a bigger stadium, they're on the lookout for a suitable site. Upgrades: Youth intake was really healthy! Again our HOYD strikes it lucky with some of the top prospects with awesome personalities! Looking forward to seeing this guy develop who is the pick of the bunch by a nose: Im at the point now where the players have outgrown the club and are refusing to resign. Good chance ill be losing my best CB Cabanas who is still on a youth contract but is refusing the enter negotiations despite still wanting to stay at the club, maybe i can keep him on a rolling contract if no other club comes in for him....
  6. Season 7 - 2030 - Expansion League Season 7 and we still find ourselves in the same division as when I first took over after having lost in penalties in the play off game last year. We again started the preseason with another sale and again i was able to delay the transfer date to the end of the year and also slip in a 50% sell on clause. Opening Stage: we again were one of the better teams in the league form finishing first on goal difference giving us a great chance to make it a hattrick of opening stage titles. We did just that really being clinical in the knockout legs only drawing 1 game and winning the other 5 games. Closing Stage: we lost our second game of the season away at our rivals Correcaminos but then after that we didnt look back, winning 11 and drawing 4. We were super consistent and had the momentum going into knock out games. In the knockout games we managed to lift it a notch even further cruising to the Closing Stage tiel meaning there was no play off game required as we won both opening and closing stages. Took us a while, but we're finally be competing against the best in Mexico! Much of this years success goes to Jimenez who played his first full season and scored more than a goal a game breaking all records. Youth preview had 4 players as A's with 3 of them being DM's and 1 GK. This is what came through. Best of the bunch is probably Hernandez (yes its cos he's my first Colombian). Awesome finisher, lovely personality and quite determined as well. The other miracle happened in March when the Board accepted my junior coaching upgrade request which have been stuck at Average for many many years!
  7. Season 6 - 2029 - Expansion League Probably should go for a walk before posting but oh wells.... The year started off with two of my best players getting poached by First division teams. one where i could insert a sell on clause, the other that was approved by the Board which i couldnt do anything about. Both players werent going to renew their contracts so I had no choice. Players Sold: Let's get straight into the leagues. Started off like a house on fire in the opening stage then went wayward towards the end but managed to finish second in the league. We then managed to play 1 good game in each of our 2x leg knockouts in the QF, SF and Final to book our place in the final playoff game at the end of the year. Closing stage we were pretty awful considering the where we've been fnishing in the league. We even missed out on qualifying directly into the QF's as we finished 5th. We won our prelim game but then got embarrassed by UdeG in the QF. Morelia were the winner of the closing stage so it was a repeat of the opening stage final. Morelia had to win in pens against UdeG 4 days before playing us and their team was a little jaded as we had a couple weeks off. Both legs are in the spoiler... Unfrickenbelievable!!!!! Feels like im never gonna get out of this division! To make things worse, we had our worst intake of the save: Mascorro is the best of a bad bunch, dont really need a striker right now either:
  8. Congrats on winning the first division by 2026!! Meanwhile im still stuck in expansion league in 2029 haha
  9. Season 5 - 2028 - Expansion League Opening Stage - Players are really developing now and being noticed by the teams in the First division. We're arguably the best team in the league now on paper and so we spent the majority of the season in first position. A few draws towards the end meant we finished second. We cruised to the final where we met our rivals Correcaminos. Away we drew 1 - 1 where they scored in the 86th minute to draw. We got our revenge at home where Aquino scored a penalty in the 92nd minute to win the Opening stage. Closing Stage - we started like a house on fire winning the first 9 games. It gave us a big enough lead over our rivals. The remaining 8 games we only won 3 and went into the finals with a bit of a cloud above us. I was thinking, if we could win the closing stage we could avoid having to play a final and get automatic promotion after winning the opening stage. QF we were matched up with At. San Luis who were relegated from First division last year and were hitting their strides. Up first we were away and gave up a 3 - 1 lead to draw 4 - 4. At home we scored first meaning they needed two goals to knock us out, they scored 3... At San Luis then knocked out Morelia on league position after drawing 1 - 1 in the two legs, then knocked out UdeG 3 - 2 to get us in the final play off game again whilst my team got a nice couple week rest. Unfortunately our only recognised GK got injured in our rest pariod! Final Playoff: We sold our first player of note where we managed to keep him for the remainder of the season before he leaves. He wouldnt resign without asking for a 1m release clause so this offer was above that and also managed to stick in a 50% next sale clause in there as well. Our YI preview wasnt the best with only 2 A players but the intake pleasantly surprised me. Getting really lucky with the personalities with our top prospects two years in a row now. Figueroa is probably our best prospect, love a resolute determined player. Has good heading, marking and tackling attributes for a 15yo and lots of 8 and 9 stats that will bolster up quick Got our second player poached, i think this one could have been a good one:
  10. Season 4 - 2027 - Expansion League Opening Stage - we managed to finish atop on goal difference on the last day, giving us a great opportunity to get through the 2 leg qualifications. In the Quarters we were given a favourable draw against Tapatio and we rightfully knocked them out 3 - 1 on aggregate after a 2 - 0 away win first up. Next up was Raya2 in the semis. First up away again and we conceded early in the 8th minute but quickly replied in the 16th minute. Wasnt much action until the 63rd minute where they went ahead again. I made some substitutions with a view of the return leg in three days time and then copped a 88th minute goal which really hurt! At home we started off well scoring in the 4th but then couldnt get that elusive second goal and in going all guns blazing copped the knockout blow in the 91st minute. Im really not good at this knockout stuff!!!! Closing Stage - we were more inconsistent in the closing stage which again is becoming a common them but some really big away wins (you get 4 points instead of 3) got us up the table. In the QF we got our historic rivals in Correcaminos which was a favourable tie. Away we held them to a 0 - 0 draw before beating them sweetly 2 -1 at home. Next up was Venados in again what seemed like a favourable tie. Away first up we smashed them 3 - 0 in a clinical performance and rested the team for the home leg for a 3 - 3 draw. The final was only my second time in the 4th season, meaning 8 stage attempts. Again a favourable tie against UdeG who finished 9th. First up away we started off brilliantly and had the opener disallowed for offside. Unfortunately we couldnt score and it was UdeG who opened the scoring in the 51st minute. We managed to reply 15 minutes later but then stupidly copped a goal late on to lose 2 - 1. At home we started off hot gain but somehow found ourselves down 1 - 0 in the 13th minute. That only lasted 3 minutes as we managed to equalise quickly. Unfortunately we couldnt get another goal and in going for it we copped a penalty and a red card in separate incidents and lost 2 - 1 and are stuck in this division once again. Finances are about right now with the previous upgrades so didnt request anything until the sponsorship money landed, the Board were kind enough to upgrade youth recruitment. For some reason they arent allow me to improve our junior coaching which is stuck at Adequate The intake was probably the best to date, definitely seeing the benefit of our HOYD personality flow through in this intake. Even got a Kiwi in the intake which is rare for this part of the world! Cabanas goes straight into the first Xi next season as we couldnt register him for this year. Resilient, tall, brave, determined tackling defender, hes gonna be a star! Scored and assist in the friendly against my u20's This really pissed me off as it came just before the closing stage finals. No shock that we lost then drew the next two games after this. Stupid thing is that we haven't even finished the closing stage for them to judge us on. We were also second at the time Other things to note, we got our first u20 Mexican call up for 17yo Sol from our intake 2 years ago who has developed wonderfully so far. We also had our first player poached as well.
  11. Season 3 - 2026 - Expansion League Opening Stage - We continued our good form from last years closing stage finishing top after a slow start. We were 2 wins 6 draws at one point then went 7 wins and 1 loss in the last 8 games. In the QF we were paired with Puebla, who we knocked out in the semis last closing stage. Away from home first we scored in the 91st minute in a 2 - 1 loss in a really strange game. We had 43% possession and lost out in xG 2.09 to 1.29 despite us having 15 shots (6 on target) against 6 (2 on target). Of course we conceded those two shots. Home leg we dominated the match and scored early but conceded in the 67th minute for a 1 - 1 draw. They only had two shots on target. Closing Stage - we were surprisingly a lot more inconsistent, needing to secure our top 4 position on the last day. We were given the opportunity for revenge as we were again paired with Puebla (common theme happening). Away from home and again the result was a 2 - 1 loss in a pretty even affair. Home leg in a tight affair, we managed to score the only goal in the 64th minute to progress to the semis. We unfortunately got Dorados who finished 1st. In what was an even affair, we lost the home leg 2 - 1 with what could have been an important goal by us scored in the 91st minute which gave us a little hope. Check out the spoiler for the away leg: Upgrades: Youth preview gave four players an A, the intake was pretty good. 3 of the top 5 prospects have wonderful personalities. This guy is the my pick of the bunch as i need to bolster my midfield ranks. Sol A from last years intake is now one of my key players and i cant wait to pair Uribe next to him
  12. Season 2 - 2025 - Expansion League Opening stage - we did really well in the league section, clinching second spot after winning the last three games. We're now seem to be one of the strongest team in the league winning more than not. The QF draw paired us up against Venados, a chance to ger revenge from last seasons knock out. This time the first leg was away with a similar result losing 3 - 1. Made it really tough for the home leg as we needed to win by 2 goals to go through as the highest ladder position. In a game we dominated, we won 2 - 1 which was not enough. Closing stage - Again we finished second, only to Pueblas who were relegated from the first division. QF we got none other then Venados again, three times in a row now. Away first, we came away with a strong 1 - 0 win. In the home leg we blew them away early until i subbed out our key players to rest them (5 subs) before winning 5 - 4. Next was Puebla where we dominated at home first up but only managed a 1 - 0 win. Away we copped a goal early and needed to at least draw the game to go through. we got that goal in the 80th minute and so progressed to the final. In the Final are our only rivals Correcaminos (who won the opening stage). I assume this was a dead rubber tie as they won the opening stage and hence both teams would play in the final (i didnt realise this at the time so played my best players and drained them). We lost 2 - 1 away and won 3 - 1 in extra time at home to be the Champions of the Closing Stage. Promotion battle - we ended up losing in bloody penalties over two legs. We bottled the lead too many times! Upgrades: Youth preview was all A's and the intake itself was pretty good. The best prospect is Resolute so thats pretty exciting!
  13. yeah i lost my two highest rated players Aguirre in defence who had is measly minimum release clause activated at 18.75k and Miranda up front for an even worse fee of 10k. I couldnt get them to resign
  14. Season 1 2023/24 - Tampico Madero - Mexico Expansion League I chose this team as they had a large following and cash in the bank, started with 3.5m balance which we were able to use to improve facilities and upgrade coaching badges. The team was pretty solid with a couple of stars but we are very light in central midfield meaning i started with a 4-2-2-2 formation as we had no DM's. I think this really shocked the team as even though we would be the better team for most games, we just couldnt notch the wins and concede quite regularly. In the opening stage we ended up finishing mid table after a really slow start, we were then knocked out in the first game of the prelim round. In the closing stage we were better as the team were getting used to how I want them to play and we finished 5th, We won the first game of prelim which put us in the quarters, we unfortunately drew the team that came first in the closing stage Venados. First leg at home we won 2 - 0 in a dominate performance. We then went 1 - 0 ahead away but then bottled it and copped 3 early in the second half. To my despair the league standings are the differentiator if the legs are tied! Upgrades: Intake was ok, nothing really exciting me to be honest. I signed them all as we literally had no players in the u20 squad, Luna could become decent at left back Come end of the year we got a huge cash boost from sponsorships, 1.3m for this leve is nuts! We also got 870k of 'other income' at the same time to put the balance back to 2.8m which ill look to spend next year. We were also given the option of starting our own B team which i instinctively approved. @darren1983and @XaWi assume this is ok to move players in and out of the B team? I havent done so thus far in season 2 but want the ok before I do, cheers
  15. thats correct. I think he is referring to playable for the game, not for the challenge though
  16. Trying a new continent after two fails in England. Apologies @hubwubjust noticed you're at Tampico as well. Was hard to pass off the 3,500 ticket holders compared to 650 at Tecos
  17. and sacked again in England in the third season! Really came out of nowhere how bad we were, after finishing 8th and only losing squad players over the preseason, I did not see last place coming at all! It's a shame as I would have loved grooming this player through the team who just came through the intake Going to give England a rest me thinks...
  18. Season 2- 2024/25 - VNLN On the field, another great season where we performed above expectations. For the majority of the year we spent it inside the play off spots however a dip in form in the last third of the year meant we just missed out again. Cant say that im too disappointed as I dont honestly believe we deserved to be in the running for promotion with lots of wins despite having less shots than our opponents. Off the field, there really isnt much to say as every single request was denied from having an 18th team, coaching badges for staff, youth improvement and junior coaching. The only thing i managed to squeeze out them was my first coaching badge when we were 4th and flying high after begging on my knees! Finances are circa 150k in debt and getting worse by the month. Need a good Cup run or something as we're only getting about 420 people at the games and our players are worth peanuts. Youth Preview was concerning but i thought it was just nonsense as previews seem bugged: Almost vomited once the intake came through. Should never be getting these types of intakes with the substandard level of team we've currently got: Have had two players make their debuts for the Norwegian and Swedish under 21 teams.
  19. Trying again in England with a team I havent seen (or heard of) before: Took me a while to catch up on all the posts (9 pages in about 5 days is nuts!) but have already managed to complete the first season. We started off with a full team which was nice and have 2 or 3 players that could easily play in the VNL. The squad players were a little meh which is holding the team back. In the end it was a great season managing to finish so cost to a play off spot where the board and supporters were just happy to remain in the league. As like many others are commenting, the real challenge is dealing with sub par finances which has meant that I havent even been able to get one coaching badge. The other thing about Truro Utd is that we dont have any u18's either despite all season requesting the board to allow it! This is going to cause a huge issue with our youth intake and their development! The board however did approve a youth recruitment improvement due to being on a good run during the year. Youth intake was pretty decent. A couple of these went straight into the first team being Carl Kay (was playing a grey shade CA player). The real achievement was not losing any players and manging to resign everyone even though my GK and Striker refused to talk to me for the first 7 months of the year with the contracts expiring in the summer. Hopefully we can build on the solid foundations next season. We were taken over mid year with our debts of 160k being wiped clean, however now i have a loan we need to pay back so it seems we have a tight@ss chairman!
  20. Season 3 - VNN - Chesham United SACKED!!!! funny thing it started off being the most promising season yet until an almighty crumble and 15 game winless streak. The other funny point is that i spent more time in the play off spots then i did in the relegation spots haha Lucky I wasnt the first to get sacked on FM for this challenge, thanks @libbyshuss but I guess he was sacked in his 4th season so that puts me ahead of the list
  21. Season 2024/25 - VNN - Chesham United No real standout from last year's intake meant that the team wasnt really improved. And that was pretty evident by how the season played out as we spent the majority of the season between 17th - 20th. Four points from 36 available leading towards the last game of the season meant we needed a draw or win to survive the drop, we couldnt have asked for a better fixture having Lowestoft at home. Banbury were playing Spennymoor and if either had won and we lost it was game over. We copped an early goal and Bannbury scored an early penalty and for a few minutes we were in the relegation zone. We then equalised and scored a go ahead goal just before half time and we suddenly had some room to breathe. Lowestoft then equalised with 5 minutes left so the blood pressure rose again before we scored a late winner to win 3 - 2 and keep this save going. Youth Preview was even better than last year and needed to take two pics to capture all the A's. My worst player is rated C: The intake, like last year was a bit underwhelming, only 2x 5 star PA off a really low base. Of the better players, 4 out of the 5 have really good personalities so thats something that I can work with, but will take a while. Finances were a little better this year, making a 250k loss. Have tried to resign players on lower contracts where possible and reduced the wage bill to 5k per week. Wasnt able to make any improvements or any coaching badges though. Next year will be another struggle but hopefully we can avoid a relegation dog fight
  22. even more harsh is the 2 star potential rating at 17yo with 10 determination
  23. Season 2023/24 - VNN - Chesham United Given we started the season with 15 players (2x GK's), this was always going to be a tough ask so survival was the aim and fill out the team once the youth intake comes in. After a month or so, we lost a non contracted player who decided that non league football was a better prospect than the contract we offered him which meant we didnt have enough players to fill the bench on a good day. The season played out as best as I could have hoped. There were times greyed out players had to start particularly in defence where we had 4 players only. We spent a total of 6 weeks in the relegation spots and from round 11 we were always clear of the spots. In desperate need of any type of player, the Youth Preview was all I could ask for: The actual intake was horrible, not one elite talent across the park and unfortunately, Im going to have to start some of these without question. Lukas Deen is the pick of the bunch in a spot where he will replace our ageing Captain (36 years old) 2 star ability centre back. A couple of decent attributes to go with a good personality is all that i can hang my hat on. Finances are pretty bleak, we made a loss of circa 300k for the year which wasnt aided by any good cup runs nor any cash injections. Despite having a negative balance, towards the end of the season just after we secured our spot in the league again, the Board approved an improvement to Youth Recruitment to Fairly Basic. Wasnt able to complete any coaching badges was a bit of a let down, but ill keep asking. Something tells me the next couple years will be very tough and much of the same in this league until these youth players develop (if they develop). We're losing our best winger, 5 star CA because we couldnt afford to renew his contract even though he was keen to stay. We pay him about 21% of the total wage budget at 1,600 a week, we could only afford half of that next year so he's leaving on a free.
  24. Back in it again with the new version but keeping the same colours
