Polonia Warszawa Season 2 - 2024/25 - Review Despite not clinching the title on the final day, this has been an amazing season. The squad certainly over-preformed and we finished above sides that spent much more money than we did. It was really the result against ŁKS that cost us, but I can't complain. The Conference League will still bring us some money. We need to seriously strengthen the squad, especially on the left side. Junior Radziński did great stepping up to the Ekstraklasa and continued to lead the line for us. The prize money is great for us. But I was not expecting this. Do all the teams get this no matter where you finish?

We were second best, especially in the early part of the match. Down by 2 goals 24 minutes in, I thought we might get embarrassed. Somehow we salvaged a draw and finished the season ahead of Legia!

I was literately sitting on the edge of my seat at my computer It would be insane. Hopefully someday it will actually happen. Unfortunately, I've only been to one game in Poland, that was at Wisła Kraków in 2005. That was when the first stand of the new stadium was still being built. The atmosphere was great, and that was just an early season match.

We just couldn't win against ŁKS this season, we drew 0-0 in very frustrating fashion. Still top but now our best player is injured. Now it comes down to going away to Legia.

Three games to go and things have gotten very interesting. Legia won the Cup, which means that if they finish in the top 3 the 4th place team will still qualify for the Europa Conference League.

Polonia Warszawa Season 2 - 2024/25 - April I was worried that our injuries and some dressing room discontent would lead to a drop off in form. But for the most part things continued to go well. The game against Miedź was absolutely wild and we were quite disappointing against Jagiellonia. But still holding on to 3rd in the table.

2025 Youth Intake My HOYD says this is a potential golden generation, I'm not convinced.

And now this happened...

Legia have a player on the wonderkids list.

Polonia Warszawa Season 2 - 2024/25 - March On the field we had an excellent month. We didn't play well against Sosnowiec, but then turned in a great performance against Lubin. That was followed up by a one man show against Raków Częstochowa. I thought we were going throw it away after taking a 3 goal lead, but Radziński came through for us. Unfortunately off the field things are starting to unravel. Michał Grudniewski, a defender who even last season was just a squad player became upset that he wasn't getting the game time he thought he should. He asked for a loan, I said ok. A loan offer came in, I accepted it, but he rejected it! Then complained to me that I didn't do enough to find him a loan move. Now two other players are upset and when I talked to them about it, they became more upset. We'll see where this goes... Hopefully I don't lose the dressing room and get fired.

Ouch. And they have a Polish player that scored against you just to rub salt in the wound.

It's the U18s but one of my academy graduates got called up to play for Poland. I didn't get an inbox item about it, but he did get capped. I did get this unfortunate news item.

Always hurts to see the value shoot way up when one of your players moves to a bigger side. At least you got some money for him.

Great start so far. But with only one team going up it will be hard to get promoted.

@NR8571 thanks for following! I will have to find some good clubs to loan my youth academy players to to help with their development. Might even be able to give them some minutes in the first team towards the end of the season.

@RoguPL thanks for reading! Qualifying for Europe would be great, but I'm not too confident. The likes of Raków have strengthened even more over the winter. They are paying wages and transfer fees that I can only dream of. Legia and Śląsk Wrocław made it to the Conference League knockout. I expect a late season surge from both of them. But we'll see what happens. The money and reputation boost from playing in European competition would be great.

Polonia Warszawa Season 2 - 2024/25 - January-February Back from the winter break and February was a decent month for us. We were ok against Lech, creating a good amount of chances but couldn't put the ball in the net more than once. Great performance against Cracovia. In the first half against Śląsk we played really well, but our forwards couldn't finish. In the second half they were the better side and when the got a penalty in the 88th I thought that was it. But our goalie saved it! Unfortunately he fractured his wrist 5 minutes later. A couple of transfers out were arranged, including the backup goalie with good potential that chose Seria C Benevento over extending his contract with us. But I also arranged for an even better goalie to join us in the summer. This all happened before our number 1 was injured. Now Dorian Ciężkowski will be thrust into the starting role. But he has an automatic 1 year extension after starting 5 games in the final season of his contract. Does that mean his move will be cancelled? A bit of an injury crisis.

Polonia Warszawa Season 2 - 2024/25 - December Still buzzing from the win against Legia. We finished off the month with two more wins and end the year in 2nd place. It has been a magnificent start to life in the Ekstraklasa. I doubt that we'll finish the season this high, but mid-table is the minimum that we should be aiming for now. I don't anticipate any transfers in the winter window, but that depends on if other clubs come in for our players. Got a new 2 year contract with a slight raise. Also started on the National C coaching course. The youth preview is rather disappointing. Hopefully that is because our squad is that much stronger now and not because the new HOYD has been a failure.

Nice choice of club. It will be great to see what kind of superstars you'll produce.

That's so frustrating that the board won't upgrade your youth coaching and recruitment despite your financial health. Good luck this season.

Derby Warszawy We were in dream land after 20 minutes, but they pegged us back with a powerful header from a corner and I started to get worried. We managed to go into halftime with the lead and soon after got our own goal from a corner. With time winding down Ernest Muci scored a wonder goal and I thought we were going to throw it away at right at the end. Bu that was their last attack and we got the win!!!

The day has arrived. It is time for the Warsaw Derby!!! The previous Legia manager, Kosta Runjaić, left in the summer to manage Poland. Their recent league history is a bit better than ours... Our best hope is that their games in the Europa Conference have made them tired.
