  1. See picture for example, starting a semi-injured / "orange injured" player. Happens all the time. Very bad. Never happende in earlier versions of FM. Obviously problematic if you now have to micro manage the reserve teams yourself in order to avoid this.
  2. Yeah, those excact injuries. Have seen the same myself, and every FM-YouTuber I know talks about similar stuff. Good that SI seem to be aware of this. Will probably be fixed soon.
  3. Btw my impression is that it is mostly 1-2 types of injuries. Torn wrist first and foremost.
  4. Virtually every FM content creator I follow on YouTube talks about this as well. Must be a giant bug.
  5. Perhaps. In principle, worse players get fatigued more easily. However, I have never personally had any problems with this, at least when managing in League One and above. Perhaps you need to rotate even more etc. with Sunderland than with Liverpool. But it should work well with Sunderland as well, and most League One teams for that matter.
  6. The preset Gegenpress tactics are much better. In FM21 I believe the preset 4-2-3-1 Gegenpress is the best one. But of course you need to manage stuff well as mentioned earlier. Rotate enough, have a sufficient squad so you can rotate, using all 5 subs rather early in the matches etc. If you do that, when you gain tactical familiarity with this tactics, you will probably do much better than with your current one. Not the first couple of months when tactical familiarity is bad, it's always like that. But in the long run it should be better. You can also do nothing and just try this in your next save.
  7. But again, I don't think the number of games per season matters much - IF you plan well. Rotate enough. Which means rotating a lot. Usually not starting the same players more than once a week. Of course it can be annoying, and in the short term give worst results, to often not start your best players. But in the long term you will be better off if you prioritize to keep everyone fresh. To do this, you of course also need to be good at squad planning /squad building. Basically having to decent option in each outfield position. And as mentioned, probably at least 20 decent outfield players in your first team squad, plus that you will still need to regularly use players from the U21's/U18's, primarily on the bench, in case of occasional injuries, fatigue, low match, sharpness, suspensions etc.
  8. No, because they only play 38 league games in the Premier League. 46 league matches in the leagues below. Besides, most PL teams don't play in Europe. Besides, PL teams don't play in extra cups such as the Papa John's Trophy.
  9. If there is a difference, it must be because of more matches per season, so less rest days between each match on average. 38 league matches in the Premier League, 46 in the leagues below, including League One. Plus, League One is the worst when it comes to this. Teams there also compete in the Papa John's Trophy, and they can potentially go semi-far in the FA Cup and the League Cup. So a League One team can easily play, say, 55 important matches per season. On a further note, in such leagues as League One, I always have at least 20 outfield players in my senior squad (and two keepers). And besides those 20+ players, I regularly use youth players, in case of fatigue, low match sharpness, injuries, suspensions etc. Resting your best players, rotating heavily, using bad players, is much better in the medium to long term. Non-fatigued players just perform much better. Not least in the Gegenpress tactics which depends heavily on fresh players who can run a lot during the match.
  10. If you rotate enough, fatigue is not a problem, regardless of the number of matches per season. Gegenpress is even more brilliant in older versions like FM21
  11. What style of tactics? Route One? I don't know much about tactics, it doesn't interest me. However, the preset Gegenpress 4-3-3 DM wide works very well in FM23 - IF you rotate enough. Always keep everybody fresh, most of the time only start the same player once a weak. And IF you use all your five subs relatively early, at the 70th-ish minute at the latest, probably best at the 60th minute. Again, to keep many players fresh, prevent fatigue etc.
  12. It was entertaining and I don't think I mind something like this happening on rare occasions. Still, I can't help wonder whether it is a bug. Anyone else experienced something like this? This is my first time in 20+ seasons of FM during the past three years.
  13. When would you say that a player's market value peaks? By position or whatever might be relevant categories. At least keepers are older than outfield players before their market value peaks I would imagine.
  14. Yeah, perhaps something like that isn't too bad. In some cases at least. I also think it would depend whether you get a good bid. If not, perhaps better to wait a year, as long as the player has at least two years left on his deal and isn't 31-32 or something. Perhaps, I am just speculating. In any case, my experience is that sometimes it is too early to sell at 27-28. Sometimes it might be a good thing, but in some situations not so much. Not ideal to sell a useful player on the cheap, if you only get low bids.
  15. As a rule of thumb, at which age do player attributes and/or market value start to drop? In other words, at which age should they be sold, while at their peak market value? Up untill FM23 I would think that the age would be around age 33 for keepers and 29 for outfield players. But regarding FM23 I am not so sure. I have seen knowledgeable people hint that it could be diffent now. Perhaps age 32 for outfield players and around 35-36 for keepers?
  16. I see now more than ever that these thoughts are pure wisdom. I might start over with the Man Utd save and follow these principles to a larger extent. Specifically, I feel like it might have been a mistake to sell Varane and Shaw. Performances haven't been the best in the first few league matches, and their absence might be part of why. Yes, they are injury prone which is far from from ideal - But that brings me to one of your other points. When to sell? In many cases perhaps better to wait untill the Summer of 2023? Are teams in general rather strapped for cash untill the 2023 summer window? I would suspect so. Pretty much all teams I have managed myself have a rather poor transfer budget for the 22/23 season, much worse than what they will get for the 23/24. Which makes sense since they have done a lot of transfer business in the summer of 2022 when the game starts. Logically, teams shouldn't have much cash left for season 1. In other words - I wonder whether it is likely that I can get much higher offers for my players if I wait untill the summer of 2023 before even considering to sell for rather low bids? Regards players like Varane, Luke Shaw, Fred, Wan-Bissaka, McTominay, Martial and Sancho. Players whom I would like to sell, but where, in most cases I probably shouldn't be desperate to sell them at any price. Because they can do a job, and I should perhaps be patient. Speaking of which - generally speaking, what is a good price for a player, as a rule of thumb? I get the impression that around half of his market value might be a bit on the low side. Often at least during season 1, it is difficult to get higher bids than that. In other words, what is a decent fee for: - A regular starter / squad player whom you would like to get rid of for various reasons - Deadwood I would imagine that pretty much any price is fine for deadwood. At least if you can't loan him out with most wages covered either. But as mentioned, it might be different with people who could do a job. I suspect that I should follow @Cloud9's advice to a larger extent. It does seem to make a lot of sense.
  17. You might want to tweak the automatic training rest settings. As mentioned in the thread below. Essentially making "Double" intensity the default setting for the full green heart / the far right heart. Otherwise keep the current default settings. Not least, this might help AI develop young players betters? In any case it seems to me like most knowledgeable players tweak the settings in this manner. So why not give the same improvement to AI and noob managers.
  18. Do AI managed teams also have automated rest settings (see pic to know which menu I mean)? If yes, what might be the default AI settings? I imagine that it would be the same as the default in-game settings. Like on the pic, except for "normal" on the full green heart far right. I ask because the default settings should perhaps be switched according to my pic, swithing the full, far right green heart to double. Little reason not to, makes the players train better, not many injuries. If AI almost never train on double intensity, that might be a significant part of why AI does a bad job at developing young players. Potentially easy way for SI to improve AI, tweak these settings as mentioned.
  19. Could be due to lack of heavy physical pre-season training to prevent fatigue. There are threads about that topic.
  20. There may not be a short term fix. But do the basics well and you rarely be in such situations. Research morale management, training, heavy physical pre-season training to avoid fatigue towards the end of the season, use the preset Gegenpress 4-3-3 DM wide if you don't plug in an OP one, learn about squad building. If you do those things you might never be in such a situation again.
  21. I wish SI would create such dials. Difficulty levels. So I wouldn't have to play with extreme save restrictions to make the game challenging. You don't need to do all the stuff the herne (falsely) accuses SergeiG for to make the game too easy. I delegate almost everything to staff. Including all staff recruitment, training and scouting. Only use preset tactics. And 100 other things. And the game is still way too easy. All you need to do is manage morale and do decent Moneyball squad building.
  22. I don't think this is being fair on SergeiG. He has given plenty of examples of how he plays over the years. If I understand him correctly he doesn't necessarily do anything special. He just knows how the game works, get the basics right, like many of us. Use a decent tactic, could be a preset. Manage morale. Make subs and rotate. Do squad building, mostly buying younger players, selling overpaid players. I agree with SergeiG, would be interesting with difficulty levels. The way the game is now it is incredibly challenging to make the game challenging (you have to invent severe and probably unrealistic save restrictions)
  23. Btw another aspect is: Often it is easy to bring a better (long term), younger, cheaper player on lower wages. Goes for many of the discussed Man Utd players. So why not do it, if possible to ship out some of them.
  24. Thanks a lot, great ideas. Yeah I play with different teams. Have earlier played a lot with Sunderland and Danish side Aalborg BK. But right now I enjoy Man Utd for some reason. In any case, what I probably like the most about the game is experimenting with different ways of playing it, regardless which team I manage. I love learning about the game, like getting inspiration from your great feedback.
