  1. You have your footballing principles and stay true to them so when you do win it it will happen because you are better rather than being lucky or outfoxing the AI.
  2. @ludakthats a sore one, did you set up defensively for the return leg against Man Utd? If only you could use some of your amassed fortune to bring in some players……but that’s the challenge and why we love it. Better luck next season, it feels like it must be coming at some point.
  3. Fancied going a team from Vanarama South, so its off to North London with Enfield I go. Expect slow updates for this one with such long seasons and trying to get a formation that sticks.
  4. Aaaaaaand thats a wrap in Puerto Rico. I was only able to add a player to my NACL registration, I wasn't able to submit the brand new registration for this season meaning the only way I can add new players is if I sell players already in the team and even then I'll be limited to how many I can add. The league registration has been fine but the NACL remained with the same squad I picked last season and I had one space for my star graduate but I couldn't remove anyone. Oh well, I'll keep the save there for now just in case I've missed the point and someone more informed than I cares to comment on it. I think its time to have a proper crack at England now. For those who are interested here was the table and scores for the NACL group this season: Disappointing as things were going quite well.
  5. Season Review Another domestic double and this time unbeaten (though 2 draws meant a lower points total than last year). In the NACL we gave a good account of ourselves as we were unbeaten in the groups but the Jamaican sides proved too good and the 2 draws against them led to Harbour View qualifying from the group. It was a good year financially and with a new sponsorship coming in as well as the increased average attendance I was able to get enough finances to improve the training facilities (and still get back up to £72k after the cup win), the junior coaching and the youth recruitment as well as furthering my own development with the Continental A license now being studied for. We also now have an additional coaching place open up as we shape the club up off the field. I still haven't made any request to have the club become professional yet as I don't think its wise at this point. The intake this year gave me my first Model Citizen graduate since Santa Venera in Malta in FM 22, and he's also a decent looking prospect. It was the first intake for our new HoYD who has a better rating and has a determine personality. Next season I'll look to replicate this year if possible and maybe try to find a 2 AMC formation to work with Llenza (Elite2) and Fernandez (Elite3). In the NACL I'd like to qualify for the play off but realistically I think just giving a good account of ourselves is all I should hope for.
  6. Good luck @XaW, looking forward to reading about this save
  7. That’s hilarious (sorry) Put this context to practice for real life teams….for my own club if I pick someone who only ever played 1 match for rangers instead of Ibrox Park it would be called Andy Webster Park as he played 1 game for the club in 2008
  8. If it goes belly up so be it, this was just a fun little filler until I take on an England save (though Northern Ireland always tempted me as the last British nation not to be completed but always getting Crewe United put me off that).
  9. I had the Timo mod installed didn’t have V50, no other reason. The first season most teams didn’t have a full compliment of players so I suspect that’s why I’ve been able to win so quickly. As you say it’ll be interesting to see how I get on against other nations’ clubs.
  10. Season Review I'm not sure if its because its one of the Timo Mega Pack countries but the top league wasn't hard at all with a domestic double completed in our first season in the top tier with a near unbeaten season and qualifying for the Caribbean Zone Group Stage of the NACL as a result. With the intake I was able to play a more conventional formation going back to 2 centre backs and 2 central mids rather than 3 and 1 respectively. We conceded fewer than a goal a game and average at nearly 3 goals scored a game as we romped home beating Bayamon twice in the league (4-3 away and 1-0 at home) with a 1-0 win in the cup final to give our finances a real shot in the arm. Facility wise I've only been able to convince the board about junior coaching as we don't have enough funds for the training facilities and they won't listen to reason on the youth recruitment (though it was surprising good for the start of the save). The NACL fixtures start early and I've been drawn with: Ciego de Avila (Cuba), Harbour View (Jamaica) and Waterhouse (Jamaica). The hope is that there are some live match broadcasting income somewhere as the only time prize money is mentioned is the semi final where the losers get £174k and it's obviously too soon to think about that kind of success, this year is about gauging the level of the other nations in the Caribbean and seeing if we can get to the play-off and maybe the 2nd round. As far as the intake was concerned I had two standouts who are ready for the first team in Nathan Smith (star graduate) and Edward Llenza (one to watch) so I am quite pleased with that.
  11. Season Review Cracking first season with a semi final appearance (and much needed prize money) as well as automatic promotion as champions in an unbeaten league campaign (just as well as we were 1-25 for the league with both board and fans expecting to go up) The intake promises a lot but as with the Malta save in FM 22 I know that it's often way off the mark because current and potential abilities are so low at this level of football. Whether many (or even any) make the grade it at least means I have options instead of playing asymmetrical formations or playing "grey" players (which luckily I didn't have to do that often in season 1). We lost 4 players last season with one of them being a fairly regular player so I just need to keep doing what I can to try and hold enough of the original players and hope to reach the cup final (we just about broke even with the semi final appearance but its £21k to the winner of the semi final so it would have meant a small profit as well as winning the cup resulting in the second qualification place for continental football). The money is very tight as you'd expect so I was only able to get one coaching badge and junior coaching increase. Media prediction this season in the top tier has us at 50-1 to finish 5th which is higher than I thought it would be but we did beat a Liga Puerto Rico side on the way to the semi final last year and we took undoubtedly the biggest team in the country, Bayamon (who are the only professional side), to extra time where our fitness and squad depth meant we collapsed and shipped 3 goals in extra time. Really nice change of pace to Europe, with less than 30 games a season until continental football is achieved.
  12. Thanks. Enjoyed the save but I feel I’m done with europe for a bit now
  13. Ah, I hate being in that position. You spend a season getting them up to speed hoping their understudies can get a loan deal the season after then the big teams come sniffing and either poaching them for min fee or just unsettling them. This repeats season after season so you rarely get players over 20 in your starting line-up
  14. If they’ve played for you since they were loaned back I think that invalidates the challenge. If they haven’t played you might be able to treat them the same way as you would a signing the chairman made i.e. kick them to the reserves and make sure they aren’t in a mentoring group. @XaWand @darren1983might be able to clarify better than I can
  15. That’s harsh, you got good prospects to step in and fast track their development?
  16. Afraid not. Your best option is to negotiate the transfer to happen at the end of the season rather than being immediate…..though saying that I’ve never managed to successfully negotiate and it always ends up being immediate then they ask if I want to loan them back which isn’t allowed….
  17. Has anyone got a different team than Crewe United for Northern Ireland? I tried over and over and it kept giving me the same team, ended up simulating another season to get a different team (opted for another country in the end anyway but I was just curious)
  18. Congratulations @thomas_e nicely done I’m yet to take on a big 5 league for this challenge yet, I think England is calling after I’ve had my little Puerto Rican fun! What about your next save?
  19. Time for a change of continent for me, off to Puerto Rico (thanks to the Timo Megapack) and taking over Leal Arecibo (game has Aracibo but everything I find on the club has Arecibo). The league pack had the 3rd tier but given there were no relegations from there I only included the 2nd tier. Leal are predicted to finish 1st and the expectation is automatic promotion so this could be a very short save if I don't achieve the goals! The two tiers only play 22 matches in the league so it should be a nice quick season! Here are my kits for the first season: Getting Parma 1998/99 vibes from the home top.....nice
  20. @fries Here are who I consider the best at the club plus the two best players we had to let go:
  21. Challenge complete! Another penalty shoot-out in the final but this time we came out on top! @darren1983 that's Switzerland off the list of incomplete countries now, I'll post the transfers and manager profile in my next post as it will exceed attachment size for this post. Season & Save Review
  22. Where are you thinking? incomplete country? one of the big 5? Obscure nation?
  23. @The7Striker it’ll come at some point, perseverance no good fortune seem to be key here
