  1. Don't know if this was updated after the first update (I'm not going to start a new save just to check!) but Dan-Axel Zagadou is showing as 0 appearances 2021-2022 when the Bundesliga site gives him 15 https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/player/dan-axel-zagadou
  2. That's not why they are hosting it though. Just as the main reason brands advertise is to put their names into your mind, Qatar will have some legitimacy and recognition merely by hosting the world cup, and not locking up any journalists etc I don't think any sensible people are suggesting that the excitement of the football makes any difference to the Qatari legacy.
  4. One thing that jumps out to me is that your rivals have bizarrely terrible crossing completion percentages. I play vertical tiki-taka which is fairly narrow and prioritises working the ball into the box over crossing and therefore I have a high completion percentage comparable to yours. For some reason other teams on your data are in the low single digit percentages, whereas on my save other teams have much more normal success with crossing. Unless you've managed to clone David Moyes from that 2-2 against Fulham and put him in charge of all your rivals. The issue is not your numbers, but those of your rivals imo
  5. Of course there's a lot of luck, otherwise the better side always wins, whether that's FM or real life. What you can do is put yourself in a position so that an unlikely long range shot that goes in is less likely to be the winner and merely the first goal in a loss and so on. Kudos to anyone that reloads the game if they win when their small striker with terrible heading manages to convert a cross or they are outplayed but happen to win because it feels unfair. If anything I wish there was more luck and less influence of morale on performances.
  6. Yes, other than results what else can you base it on? In the league we never hear that the table is clearly rubbish because a lower ranked side wins. Also, by basing it on results and specifying the rules in advance you avoid accusations of fixing for World Cup draws and the like. Want to be in a better pot? Beat more teams to improve your ranking.
  7. I don't think a manager who has a reputation for managing teams that struggle to score is what England need in the case of Potter
  8. Martinez is unfairly criticised imo. It's just not that easy to win knockout tournaments, even with two legged ties in all years but one, Pep hasn't won the CL in 9 seasons now. And unlike at City there is a huge gap to the squad players in the Belgium national team.
  9. That Serbian defender who kept playing Aboubakar onside should be in the worst XI for me.
  10. You have forgotten Kane in the first half but that probably doesn't count as it was poor from Upamecano.
  11. This isn't intended as a gotcha, I'm just interested to know, would you take issue with athletes doping?
  12. Of course teams aren't going to score many open play goals if you only select matches they lost and ignore the ones they won.
  13. I was going to post a similar reply but took Gunman at his word that he was 'done'
  14. It was a bit of a tossup between Livakovic and Bono for me but Morocco having a decent keeper with hands and feet allowed them to keep possession when appropriate and build up their own attacks in a way that most teams that defend first simply don't. Overall Lloris did better than I expected, guess France conceded too many and had no penalty saves for him to win but he made some good saves in the knockouts, and got a bit unlucky that his save happened to go to Messi for the extra time goal yesterday.
  15. I think I like everything about BBC more except their co-commentators. That's not a McCoist fanboy thing, I just think they are all so bland. ITV didn't even have Emma Hayes this time, but I was even thinking "at least Lawro moaning would be something approaching an opinion".
  16. In a youth tournament an Irish goalie got a second booking and sent off for coming off their line and there was a lot of moaning in their press. Applying the rules properly still gets the ref in trouble.
  17. I like L'Equipe's lower ratings. The Guardian have Dembele 4 yesterday, what do you have to do to get lower than that?
  18. If you keep posting contradictory takes one of them will be correct.
  19. I gave it 8, there was a lot of drama late in knockout games and the last group games but the first set of matches was a bit dull and the semis weren't brilliant either.
  20. Some good shots on the Guardian site, you can pretend to be a photographer to get in Frank Skinner but there's no hiding that forehead
  21. No chance of giving a red if you never give a yellow in the first place!
  22. I wonder what L'Equipe gave the ref after the England match I disagree he was brilliant, just good. His judgment was right on the penalties and the Thuram dive but he let too many cynical/bad fouls go without a booking which meant there were more similar fouls later on. Alsogot suckered in by Argentina players claiming fouls in the first half.
  23. Argentina better overall and also tried to win it in ET, similar to the Dutch match. But they are very hard to root for as a team. Martinez makes a key save and then does his bit in the shootout but I think with other keepers that game is won in normal time.
