  1. Interesting. Of course any work we do now on the issue will likely be rendered moot by whatever they do with Russia in future patches
  2. Arabian Gulf Cup added for international teams. Normally it's in December but in 2023 it will be held in January, in Basra, Iraq. Currently simming several versions into the future to make sure there are no clashes, but I believe December is always free in the int'l calendar. Everything is fresh for FM23, nothing imported. Nothing against importing old DBs mind you, I just haven't had a proper Qatar file since FM14.
  3. Anyone tried deleting/adding nations to see what happens with WCQ, Nations League, etc? The Crown Dependencies, Yugoslavia, East Germany etc fans will be keen to know (looking at you @Wolf_pd, lol)
  4. Looking good. I was thinking of making a database where they were proposing a "split season" format for an all-island league before COVID took away any of its momentum. So, DBs for both countries where they play 22 games or so, then the bottom half of each league splits into a relegation group (like in Scotland). The tricky part would be then using a continental comp (or a cup in one of the countries) to create the all-island competition, where the top half of each country would join up and play a half-season, but with the points then being added to their own country's league table. I think this should be doable by being creative with min/max games to get it to verify. So basically, as if the top half in Scotland didn't have the same type of break as the bottom half, but instead played just as many games but against teams from another country, and they counted towards the standings too. I made an all-island league in FM22 but keeping the countries separate like this is obviously more realistic. EDIT: also wondering if we can use the "all star" function in the editor this year, could possibly set up Munster vs. Leinster all-star type games
  5. No, it's separate, it should show up in your Steam "library" if you're purchased FM23
  6. I've tried to implement the development strategy which will see the league drop to 10 teams. (edit: fixed) As far as I can tell, the Sheikh Jassim (Super) Cup wasn't played in 2022, so I've left it out. Same with the old postseason Qatar Cup (edit: fixed) (although I revived the Arab CL and GCC). The "Qatar FA Cup" also appears to have been a one-off at the end of last season, so it's not included. It gave everyone else something to do while the top 4 teams were in a COVID-rushed ACL group stage. EDIT: In order to address this issue: The main download has an elaborate workaround that uses the extinct nation "Ireland pre-1922" as a secondary Qatar residency/nationality. This allows the extra international slot that's only for Arab/UAFA players. Any suggestions, issues, etc, let me know.
  7. Get ready for the World Cup with life in the Gulf. Try and replicate Xavi's managerial achievements in the Stars League, or go one better and win the AFC Champions League. DOWNLOAD (backup) | PLAYER REP FIX (backup) (details) GRAPHICS | KITS from FM Slovakia (external site) Please upvote here and rate on Steam if you are enjoying the databases (or not!) Arab internationals TMC MEGAPACK This database enables the two top Qatari divisions, with real dates for 2022 including the early start and World Cup break (then back to normal in 2023). I wasn't able to find any hard numbers for sponsorship, government funding. or prize money in the various competitions - let me know if you find this information, particularly any Arabic readers. Unfortunately this is incompatible with any file using the extinct nation Ireland (pre-1922) (including my Island Games), as I've used it to enable the Arab player rule (only Qatar DB for FM23 to do this): Special thanks to @nasaiain @twister @FootballHedgehog @BinAqool @rmpMarko @rusty217 @ajoobah @X0X0 @WatsonFM EDIT: Although it's not as bad as the SPL in FM23, the default transfer AI here doesn't really work with the transfer rules, so teams sell a lot of their best domestic players too quickly and the league is kind of glitched after that DBs for older versions of FM:
  8. You'll also want all players with that second nationality so you can try and recruit them, not self-promote but there's a file in the Editor's Hideaway I worked on with others' feedback that adds a bunch. So, load all players "based in" England when you start the game, and a few more Caribbean minnows should have enough players to manage now, for example, or at least enough potential recruits to make it interesting
  9. Should be in fate actions for that stage. Same way "winners" of a certain round qualify for another round in some default competition rules, "losers" can too. Then just set the round they're qualifying for as the corresponding round from another competition (Europa League), and in the EL stage in question you'll just use "get qualified teams" like normal but you'll be getting them from the CL stage. As long as that stage is drawn after the CL losers are set, it should work fine. That's the cleanest way to do it where it should show up in the rules. There's an alternate way where you could just set the EL to call in "get best teams in competition" from the CL with "max teams" set to 64 and the box for "ignore teams" checked. This is telling it to ignore the current top 64 teams in the CL (which will be the round winners as long as your ranking levels are working). Then repeat the same line, but with the box for "ignore teams" unchecked. This is telling it to get the best 64 teams, but it's already been told to ignore the top 64, so it will go to the next 64 teams in the CL rankings (your 64 losers)
  10. A Scilly "nation" could play the annual friendlies against mainland teams (pretty sure nations can play clubs in tournaments as long as the date's free). I think it could also play against its own U21 team for the annual old men vs. youngsters game
  11. Toronto and Vancouver (and probably the rest of the large and mid-sized cities too) have huge Filipino populations, and as you can see from guys like Pat Metcalfe and David Choiniere (who exactly did you manage to poach for your national team?), they can ball too
  12. Oh sorry about that, I think I changed "Holland" to "the Netherlands" for my own obsessiveness, I can remove that change, should really leave that to the user. Cheers for the feedback! For the Philippines, you might want to load all players based in Canada as well. I don't remember adding many Solomon Islanders, lol, but yes it's a god-send if you do manage lesser-lights in international football (just need SI to fix it in general!). Same goes for playing with a custom Japanese DB and all the Asian countries they allow as domestic.
  13. Oh God, don't Scilly have that league where it's only 2 teams? Just checked, yep, they play each other 18 times. Lol, I always wanted to make it in FM for this reason, maybe now's the perfect time to make an alternate version with Scilly instead of Jersey. Would just need a working All-Star team for the yearly visits of Truro and Newlyn Non Athletico...
  14. This has been subject to the occasional update. It should port over fine to FM23, with the caveat that the occasional player might have a dual nationality show up twice in their information screen (if the researchers added the same second nationality we did). I also made a minor corrections file (alternate link) this will work with. It fixes some high-rep competition and stage names to remove sponsors and add the official names.
  15. Yeah it can happen, just thinking out loud. For now, I prioritized this Irish project, and the Crown Deps. are more of an afterthought - maybe for FM23. I was thinking the same, that the top division would be something like "Regional Level 1" with child competitions like the Priaulx League in Guernsey. Domestic cups can include the Upton Park Trophy and each island's own cups. Could even include other overseas territories that aren't in the OG game like Saint Helena
  16. Just thinking that if we were to prioritize the creation of a nation like "Crown Dependencies", it might be better to use an extinct nation like Ireland pre-1922, or C.I.S., or something like that. That way, there no competitive fixtures but still room to do everything else we want with a new nation, like create a league structure
  17. Well, you know the feeling when a DB works the way you want, can't beat it! You're right that a wider Crown Dependencies might have been a better option, certainly for league structures if we expand this further. Alderney is technically a part of Guernsey so its a way to get past that while still having the Muratti Vase (maybe we can figure out All-Star teams on FM23 and do it that way). Ultimately they might function better as a new country replacing an extinct one, though. For the placeholder we need to replace NI, you want it to be someone who doesn't look jarring when they appear in WCQ and Euro qualifying. Bonus if they have links to the UK in case we can't remove ALL of the England/UK links that are hard-coded. EDIT: tested with @lionel messi's brilliant level 10 database and they look compatible, I used a small database and ticked "add players to playable teams" and Jersey Bulls are full of dual national Jerseyman/English players with Jerseyman as their primary nationality. Also works with Quebec if you want to spice up the international scene even more!
  18. Makes sense. At one point I was telling it to invite whichever of Spain, England, Portugal, Holland, France etc hadn't qualified for the Euros that year, just to spice it up and reflect their historical and current possessions in América. In practice, they all almost always qualified for the Euros and didn't come
  19. That's exactly what I've done! It's ready to go, lots of detailed changes reflecting how the Republic might actually absorb N.I. (taking the best of both worlds). Jersey has a coefficient, they just don't send any teams to Europe because there's no league (yet). European competitions run fine without them. By dual nationality I just meant "England" and "Jersey", right now the city "Jersey" is in the nation of Jersey and the English region South East (I know we usually do the opposite, but this seems to be working even better). Really I should test with an English lower league DB (or just put Jersey Bulls in League 2 for a test) and confirm that Jersey Bulls' regens every year are dual. There would be advantages to making the nation something like the wider "Crown Dependencies" or "Channel Islands," but the national team wouldn't make any sense. As for Brexit, Jersey (on N.I.'s unique ID now) will be treated how N.I. was - i.e., brought along for the ride. I know there was early coding done in like 2017 that had the random option of Scotland or Northern Ireland leaving the Union but I don't think they ever went through with that.
  20. That was really annoying from an editing perspective, I think there were other ways they could have shown their support rather than hard-coding something like that out of the blue. I know editor databases aren't technically "supported" but the fact it broke so many shows that it was a bit of a rush job
  21. Have you played around with trying an invited team? They didn't do it at the 2016 joint Copa, but that was only 16 teams. Plus, they've invited teams in the past. You could get 1 or 2 "random team from team pool" from, say, Australia, Japan, China, Qatar etc (all invited in the past). Maybe their U-23 team if the seniors are already booked that month. It would be cool if you could get any upcoming Asian-based World Cup host like they did with Qatar It's a bit odd, but is a nice touch and helps prevent bloodbaths like Brazil vs. Saint Kitts.
  22. I wonder if it might be worth adding ANOTHER country to see what would happen? I know it's a lot of work, but even just a skeleton of a country in UEFA at first to see if they also join FIFA/UEFA qualifiers. Then if there's a "not enough teams" issue being caused by Russia's exclusion, they'll fill the slot. If it works just quickly make them Jersey or something
  23. Fixed the First Division scheduling issue that was coming up, and cup seedings actually work better than in the OG game now. Try playing with Coleraine, they qualified for Europe in their last Northern Irish season, so you can try to earn promotion in the first season while balancing the UEFA Conference League
  24. This has been released, testers are needed before any FM23 conversion. To expand on the new OP, I've made a 14-team division like the Kieran Lucid plan in 2019 (alternate download just adds the proposed prize money), playing April to January 1 (Ulster keeps its Boxing Day games). U19s are also now fully integrated. Jersey look fine (albeit hopelessly outmatched) in international football. There's no league or Muratti Vase (yet) - just the English league team Jersey Bulls. Let me know if you see anything that needs attention. There looks to be some hard-coding where Jersey (formerly NI) uses some Irish regens who have dual nationality, not sure if we can fix that.
  25. EDIT: I believe you can use extinct nations that aren't actually set to any cities if you just want a "Basque" style aesthetic nationality (although it might play friendlies with uncapped players, which is cool). I did it with Quebec by using Saint Pierre, who are not extinct but just non-FIFA. For what you're describing, IIRC you'd make a new region, Channel Islands, and set that under the new nation (also Channel Islands). The cities of Jersey and Guernsey would be set to "nation" England but "region" Channel Islands. Then they'd have that dual nationality (which you could manually add to Le Saux, Le Tiss etc). However I'm leaning towards swapping N.Ireland wholesale into one of the more distinct FAs (Mann, Jersey etc) just because they do operate so distinctly, and Jersey are a semi-realistic UEFA and FIFA candidate (at least in their own wishful thinking). The hard-coding for GB Olympic Team and Brexit etc should operate the exact same, I believe footballing-wise there's no distinction between Channel Islanders and Norn Iron in both pre- and post-Brexit worlds?
