  1. Yes I've seen this too. Particularly when playing away matches. We'll be bright, incisive, and clinical at home and then play some relegation fodder team away and completely forget what team we're on. I wish they had a little more feedback from the players on their attitude in the game. If my players are calm or motivated or happy they shouldn't be unable to pass the ball 5 yards to a teammate consistently. Complacent, nervous, anxious? yes absolutely - and sometimes there's no tactic or team talk to change the fact that its a cup final or a big game and your players have low pressure attributes. But that attitude should be manifesting itself in some feedback output that we can at least see even if we can't change it through the tools we have. It's a bit frustrating in the end because we're basically boiling it all down to lucky in game dice rolls without being told if we got a good or bad roll.
  2. you typically don't need a powerful computer to run a production model. Training yes, output requires much less power. Its much like learning something yourself for the first time and then mastering the skill. It takes much less effort.
  3. 7th min - Porro decides to trap the ball down for luis diaz - leads to goal. Pass through 6 of my players two of whom are right on top of Diaz. 21st min - Salah takes a throw in and no one bothers to mark, tackle, or close him down despite OI instructions. Throw ins continue to be the most dangerous play in the game. It's very odd the defense can't get organized sufficiently. 36th min in the lead up to the penalty. Fernandes and Erikson just leave the ball after winning it inside the area. Cross is sent in that leads to two of my defenders heading the ball towards the middle of the pitch and leads to a penalty where Rice just bizarrely pushes someone. And now onto Abraham who should have had at least 3 goals. 31st minute rounds Alisson and puts it closer to the corner flag than the goal. 47th minute through on goal miss (okay but does this numerous times through out the match) On the ensuing corner - Varane header hits post and Abraham is first to it doesn't score and the xG marks it as a not very high probable opportunity. Countless golden opportunities in the second half where I should have at least scored 1 goal. MUFC doesn't want to win.pkm
  4. I'm pretty sure I'm experiencing a bug with my Chief Scout and scouting assignments. he likes to assign the same scout multiple assignments. I've decided to adjust some of the work by manually assigning scouts. However, it's a real tedious task to figure out what assignment to give a scout without going through and clicking on their profile. Is there a screen that shows multiple scouts knowledge at one time?
  5. I completely forgot about the individual player tab. I do have them set to auto currently. I do wish there was a way to explicitly mark and option to rest players who are marked as tired after the previous match as rest and carry out a more complete training schedule for those who don't play. I suppose its not entirely realistic though.
  6. This comes question and a partial suggestion possibly. For busy teams with domestic and continental commitments where its multiple weeks of midweek games - how do you handle training? Giving the whole team off after a match seems sensible for star players but those on the fringes/lesser used squad rotation probably should be training to keep their attributes up. Is it as tedious as selecting the players who participated in the last match and give them a rest for a day while the others do a full training? Or is there a better way to do this?
  7. Even if it was ultimately correct (I still am not convinced) VAR needs an overhaul. Probably should raise it in the bugs sections.
  8. Was up 2-0 in the dying stages of a match. Had a third in the net but that was called back. It hurt because that would have sent me through to the knock out stages. Missed countless clear cut chances only for my opponent to score in the 95th minute. Complete heartbreak. I go and look at the other game and apparently they had a penalty saved from Messi! Tell me this game isn't scripted against me? Utter and complete frustration.
  9. apologies. Was tending to a child and obviously wrote a bunch of gibberish. If you think of each FM game as a database for what has been researched over the years you can set up a little test. Take each real player aged 16-21 and look at their PA and then compare it to what their CA is when they hit 25-30. How many of those players hit their 16-21 year old PA? I know with multiple years there's some sort of summarization needed but I think average would suffice.
  10. You know if we took all the previous FM games its basically a book of yours and other researcher's work documenting every player's PA over time. How many high PA players from the early to mid 2000s never panned out? Why would this game be any different?
  11. Appreciate you guys looking into it. Not an easy task to balance. Obviously teams get pipped all the time and we shouldn't always get our transfer targets. Just felt like this was one to flag and hopefully it provides some insight.
  12. Added another save game file. TammyEasySign.fm this starts a few days before the bad transfer pre bid and no one tries to swoop in last minute. Find it rather ridiculous that the difference in a few days you can't sign a player that is clearly not on another team's radar.
  13. Spent the part of better six months wooing Tammy Abraham from Roma. There was zero interested from any other team until the day I bid for him. Liverpool came in bid once at 60M got accepted and signed him for a lower wage. What would they be bidding on him for anyway with Nunez still in the squad? Meanwhile Roma were nickel and diming me for clauses and sell on fees. I offered Abraham more than what his agent wanted 220k p/w, important player status, additional competition and goal bonus. Still rejected and apparently not even considered. He'd play more games with me, be a more important member of the squad, make more money. I'd understand if I were a mid table team not competing for titles. Just a total immersion breaker imo. This can't possibly be how the transfer market works.
  14. Appreciate the reply. Yes I recognize some are flaws in the match engine and trying to work around them is challenging. The crossing is annoying but I can kind of live with it. It galls me when I see my players just stand around waiting to be closed down with 3 or 4 options and then lose possession. I set Erikson on attack for Volante because he has a PPM that says comes deep to get ball so he sits quite deeper than a normal VOL-a would. When I play Rice I set him to VOL-s. I don't have explicit instructions set here but the idea is to build down the left before switching flanks to an open Sancho or Porro. Porro is often in acres of space and is effectively a winger. McTominany or Casemiro provides balance to that side with the Anchor duty in the event I get caught too far forward while in possession on the left. I don't necessarily want Rashford to make runs forward as much as I want him supporting possession and creating an overload down the left flank/left central. He is much more effective when there is space to run behind after dragging players away than having him occupy the space during the build up phase. Ideally a ball is played through to Rashford or Fernandes from Erikson or Shaw and Martial and Sancho are darting into the box for cutbacks/crosses. But perhaps I'm misinterpreting roles here. I don't know if I've seen the same thing but it's worth a try. I did start the season playing Martial on CF but wanted to build the tactic around my midfield three as they are significantly better to give free reign to than Ronaldo or Martial. I don't know if Ronaldo or Martial have the attributes to be effective support forwards though (Ronaldo too selfish, Martial lacks the passing and vision and strength to really hold the ball up effectively). Rashford is much better suited for it imo or if I get my way in the transfer market I'm going to try and bring Tammy Abraham in. Thanks again. I'll give your suggestions a go and see what changes that brings for the squad.
  15. I wouldn't say I struggle. Been playing a quick run through with Man Utd to work out the ME. Should finish 2nd in the league. That said playing away causes my players to somehow forget how to pass the ball to each other, dally on the ball, take really really poor touches (Varane decided to just trap a ball and leave it inside the penalty area in Europa League match once). But I can't quite work out why because I'll play at home with the same tactic or slight variation of it against the same team and dominate. I'm not expecting world beating performances away from home but I go from 2-3 xG to barely being able to get a shot away. I typically start here. Though I may invert the midfield depending on the opposition. Recently played Bayer Leverkusen in a Europa league tie with this same formation. Struggled to draw 1-1 away from home (It wasn't exactly this tactic but same principles) and my players could not/would not connect a pass. Played at home and smashed them 4-0. I'm happy to take my medicine and sit back and play a low block against more skillful teams and grind out a result. And I recognize that some days teams just don't have it and that's part of the game. I've contemplated pressure of games, end season mentality, player fatigue. I actually did the most risky thing any FM manager could do. I praised them at halftime in the 4-0 home win v BL04 despite being up on 1-0 to help lift some of the pressure because I'd been hammering the don't get complacent message for a few weeks. Just feels like either the away team gets nerfed or the home team gets buffed in this game so far. But that doesn't feel like a satisfactory answer. Typical changes include setting my LB to FBs if I sense danger of a counter or to balance out individual mentality. I might play a low block with a standard line and push the trigger press to much more. The 4-3-3 variant that I play will tyipcally see the DM on Anchor, Erikson on APs on the right and Fernandes as a Mezzala-a on the left. my wingers will be set to IWs and IFs. Generally results in an overload on the left side that Fernandes/Rashford/Sancho can take advantage of and score.
  16. Yep as the title suggests. In an FA cup semi-final no less. Guess having a man up wasn't enough for the AI. The Dumbest Own Goal.pkm
  17. The home team (doesn't matter who) always seems to have some boost in ability. I've seen away team players just dallying on the ball, not passing forward, ignoring obvious goal scoring opportunities. Anyone else having similar observations?
  18. As the title suggests I have one player asking for contract talks and wanting to explore options at the end of their contract despite already agreeing terms at the end of the season. Have to sim a few days. But De Gea and Ronaldo both ask to discuss end of contract situation. I've already renewed De Gea but did the end of season option instead of immediate.
