glennuk
Worthing FC - Season 34 - Mid Year Review & Youth Intake League - 1st so far - COULD THIS BE THE YEAR? Well what can I say. We have been outstanding. Only 1 loss in the league so far and that only just happened in out 16th game of the season, we were up to 20 games unbeaten til that point. Dylan Ward (YP25A) current top scorer in the league with 12 goals. Jamie H (YP18D) who had lost his place in the starting lineup is joint top of the league in assists with 7. Champions League Top of the group with a favourable draw against Sampdoria (currently 6th in Serie A) in the first round. Highlight was beating PSG 6-0! Big Injury...again Something that could really impact us, is that Jamie H (YP18D) has been class this year (10 assists and 6 goals) and has just got injured for 2 months. Youth Intake Preview Again just an okay preview. Our CM is an area of weakness, or at least an area where my preferred starting pair are both in their early 30s. It would be nice to bolster the CM with some young talent. Youth Intake Nothing special here. A mix of nationalities, but no one that REALLY excites me. Top 1 - Youth Intake 34 Noah Paull (YP34A) - He most likely could end up a good player. I am never keen when I see so many 3's and 4's, but he has plenty of time to improve and being from a nation like Australia he should get national team time too which should help with that progression. No one else even comes close to exciting me so just 1 player from this youth intake will be highlighted. Other News I won the Euro Super Cup, if that counts for anything Edited November 22, 2022 by glennuk
Steven Fox
I am thinking of doing a youth academy challenge using a level 10 team in England. Will be tough. There are already relegation and promotions way down there. Will I have to go forward a year to see if the promotions or relegations increase? glennuk
Worthing FC - Season 34 - End of Year Review - Can We? Did we? League - 1st An amazing league campaign, which almost got derailed at the last hurdle. With 5 games left we were 8 points clear at the top. With arguably an easy (ish) run with 3 very winnable games. We only got 6 points from those first 4 games and just needed a draw away to Tottenham to win guarantee winning the league (as Man City had won their first four games and closed the gap). League....completed! We did our best to make it hard for ourselves with only 7 points from our last 5 games, but what a ride this season was. We were lucky in the fact that Man City had their worst season for a while and we had an amazing start of the season, which meant when the dip came we had enough of a gap to survive. Europe After winning the European Super Cup against Man U, we had a mini European win. Little did I know we would have a crazy tournament in the Champions league itself. We comfortably cruised past Sampdoria (an easier draw than we have had in the past) and AS Monaco in the first two rounds. However the semi final against Bayer 04 was a different story. After winning 4-1 in the first leg, I thought it would be an easy road to the final, but we were battered and just held on to win on aggregate. We were in the FINAL vs Man U of all people. We beat them in the European Super Cup, could we do it again? Yes! Yes we could. We did the DOUBLE! Technically the Triple (with the European Super Cup) and we have BEATEN THE CHALLENGE!!! For a long time I thought I would never complete this challenge and almost gave up (5 in game years ago). I also NEVER thought we would win both in the same season, but we got such a lucky draw, with the fact that we faced teams that all finished 2nd, 3rd or 4th in their respective leagues. Also it's crazy that the only reason I am in the Champions League this season, is due to winning the Euro Cup last season! We won comfortably vs Man U who had a terrible league season and were 11th. To be in the Champions league final against an 11th placed team is some stroke of luck indeed! Champions League....completed! glennuk
The Squad I have grown to love this bunch of players. My defence especially has always been outstanding. It really is the foundation upon which our success was built. Often being the best defending team in the league. I am not surprised 3 of our defenders were in the Champions League Dream Team and Reece Connolly (YP21B) was Keeper of the Tournament (but not in the dream team somehow). Best Players I wanted to highlight what our players looked like at the end of the challenge. So here are some of the best Reece Connolly (YP21B) - We have always been blessed with good keepers and Connolly was on loan for most of his career. However when he took over he was outstanding. Only conceding 37 goals in 48 total games is pretty impressive in itself. He also got his England Debut (Although is still not the starter) a few years ago. He only has 114 total appearances for the club and has been the first choice keeper for just over 2 years. My CB Duo - Two of my most loved players Paul Price (YP18A) - My first wonderkid and a player with 25 caps (which is far too few) for England. An absolute Rock at the heart of defence. He is good everywhere and while not ELITE, he has played like an elite defender. Very rarely makes mistakes, loves me and I love him <3 Bradley Richards (YP18C) - How I got two defenders this good in the same intake is baffling to me. BUT I LOVE IT. He is a huge defender at 200cm (6 foot 6) and again while not elite he hardly puts a foot wrong. He wasn't as quick to develop so has less games than his English counterpart, but bradley is just so reliable. Ended up as Wales best defender and was a rock for both club and country. Midfield Maestros Kirk Welch (YP13B) - He has been ever present since coming into the first team and has a massive 657 appearances for the club. Starting to decline a bit, but as a Model Citizen it seems as if his career was extended by a few years. Chipped in with important goals and started most of our moves. Was debating how to replace him in the next year or so, but he stayed with us long enough to beat the challenge. 145 caps for Ireland is massive! Keaton Robinson (YP29B) - The newest wonderkid and one of the newest starters for the club. Robinson was a stud throughout the season, even filling in at CB at times when players were injured or tired. He actually came in as a CB, but with my duo above being so good and his tackling being relatively poor he was converted into a CDM and flourished. Fantastic Forwards Tom Rowe (YP26A) - A striker I turned into a Inverted Winger AML. Was very solid at unlocking the defence and would often be thrown up front too. He didn't have his best season for the club this year, but has always played well and it seems as if he gets more hockey assists than true assists. There was a time where I almost sold him for 40 million, but he became a key figure as an AML. Dylan Ward (YP26A) - Dylan is an enigma. This season he was fantastic with 20 goals in the league. Other years he would change between being a top striker and not being able to hit a barn door. However he came good when we needed him most and was good all season playing as an Advanced Forward. At 25 he is still improving, and to be honest again there were seasons where I wanted a good offer of 50mil for him, however with 800mil in the bank there was never a need to make that decision...thankfully. MY CBs were immense (and came in the SAME youth intake), in fact my whole back line was pretty special throughout the save, even when I was coming in 4th I often had the best defence in the league. For a while I thought I would always end up 2-4th. But HUGE strokes of luck in my honestly very easy Champions League draw and Man City getting their lowest points total in a long long long time.
Ef3105
For those that have done it in England, how do you get the training facilities up because none of my regens have had any progression and my seniors are all declining and im worried about relegation
Andrew Marines
After a lot of time, i completed my first season At Chiasso, saving our self at the last match of the season. We started the season with a 442 mid-block explained here. However, the players couldn't perform it(too ****** kekw). After trying and trying, i started using something a bit more unusual that worked not great but not bad Draw after draw we were gaining points and getting back into the relegation battle (that asymmetric 4411 is just the 442 midblock but changed to perform a bit better with this team). We got to the last match at the same points of the team we were fighting all the season with: Yverdon How the last match ended for us: As you can see from the previous picture, 0-0. And Yverdon? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO We loaned a player, lost 1 and sold 1 All through the season the goal was to improve our staff and structures. At the first one we did great At the second, our board maybe wanted to see if we were still in the league at the end of the season. And the youth team? We got something good in our hands Few examples:
Kuncan
I have never tried this challenge. Is there a particular country that is less hard than others?

Possibly Germany in Europe. Mexico and Brazil outside Europe and in base game. Also, worth posting in the FM23 version of this thread, even if playing on FM22.
