End of Season Review

Season 2025/26

The Spartans

The Spartans F.C. - Wikipedia

Season Summary

Another tremendous season as the club qualified for Europe for the first time and we also reached the semi final of the Scottish Cup for the first time.

Season Details

League Table - We were the clear fourth best side this season and qualified for European competition for the first time.

League Fixtures 1 & 2 - We had a sticky spell early on, but recovered to finish in the Championship group.

Scottish Cup - In front of a club record 51,866, we had our best cup run ever, reaching the semi final, where we were outclassed by a superior Rangers side at Hampden Park.

Premier Sports Cup - We once again won all of our group games to top our mini league.  We made it through to the quarter final before a poor performance away to Motherwell ended our interest in the competition.

Pre Season Friendlies - With just the one defeat in our five games, it was a pleasing and ideal preperation for the new season.

Squad - We are good enough for a repeat next season though a lot will depend on the quality of the loans.

Squad Dynamics - Not as good as you would expect but still more than good enough.

Transfers In 1, 2 & 3 - I broke our transfer record twice as I signed some real quality.

Transfers Out 1, 2, & 3 - Plenty of sales as my promising youngsters were sold for fees with high sell on clauses.  The transfer record was broken no less than four times.

Youth Candidates - Goalkeeper Gordon Donnelly YP26A19 is the only prospect of note in an otherwise disappointing group.

Finances - Thanks to player sales and league prize money, we have a very healthy bank balance.

Key Players

Santiago Vadone - Signed for a then club record £500,000, the Uruguayan Under 23 international central defender was sensational.

Harry Chapman - Experienced winger who played way above his level.

Facundo Núñez - Club record signing at £2.2m, his start to the club has been frustrating to say the least as he battles persistent injuries.

Isak Solberg - Norwegian Under 21 international goalkeeper who arrived in January and quickly established himself as the number one.

Zach Booth - The American under 20 international midfielder had a dreadful campaign and his squad place is seriously in doubt.

Next Season

A repeat of this season would be terrific.

This game....sometimes i want to smash this game into smithereens....why cant we just have nice things?

Such as....

with 9 games to go, I am part of a 5 way title race for the Bundesliga, going to be an amazing finale to the season - here's our remaining fixtures. We are also going well in the Europa League.

Spoiler

However, our star striker has just broke his back, and will miss most/if not the rest of the season, essentially torpedoing any chance we have of winning the league.

Why does this happen...why?

@DazRTaylorthat is an amazing few seasons to have Spartans in Europe so quick. Some of those players are unbelievable, you have done well in transfer market, looking forward to the European adventure! You look good enough for a deep run in the Europa Conference, and Vadone will make you a few quid one day!

Season 9 | 2030-2031 | Making a splash in Europe

Last year was our first venture in Europe, which disappointingly ended by an injury to our star keeper and a backup-less situation... But otherwise, we were not outclassed by anyone and seeing Trabzonspor winning the EURO Cup II, made us hopeful that we weren't far from success in that competition. In the league, the top 4 teams is a tough block to crack.

Transfers

This was quite an eventful season for transfers.

Going OUT is most notably Niko Lippold who, after 4 seasons with the club and a half, felt that he had outgrown us and needed a bigger challenge. I was able to cash in with an 10.5M€ transfer to Real San Sebastian, along with a 20% of profit clause (he now has a 31M€ release clause in his new contract). This is a bit shy of the 14M€ release clause that he had on his contract, but a good transfer for us nonetheless. It's a loss for us in the defence, but I feel we have the necessary talent lined up in the back to get us covered. I got him out before his contract ran out and before he had the time to do real damage to our dynamics by being unhappy...

Also going out is Matias Macchi, which is a bit unfortunate. He is a very promising right-back, who actually got the Wonderkid designation this year, but attracted interest from all the big English clubs after a few international caps. There was no way I could hold him back, but I was able to squeeze in a 50% of next transfer clause in there and a loan back option. His value jumped immediately from 6M€ to 40-60M€, so I might be in for a pretty good fee in the future. I have extended his loan at the end of the season (paying some of his salary this time), but at some point, he'll have to go to Man U so he can get some playing time and we get a chance of triggering that clause...

Then, continuing the cashing in on players that are falling out of the team is Walter Tolosa. After a couple of good seasons, he got overtaken in the midfield and didn't develop as well as I thought. When he started to complain about his playing time early in the season, I was having none of it and moved him on for an OK fee. His 6.6 average rating and 1 assist in a struggling Super League side proved that I took the right decision in moving him.

Finally in the winter I decided to move Jeredy Hilterman for 1.1M€. After a good start of the season in which he scored 8 goals in 12 appearances, he was asking for a quite high wage for his contract renewal, one that I wasn't keen on paying for a 32 year-old. Weary of decline in his abilities too, he was back to the Netherlands for not much profit, but 2.5 good seasons. Thank you for your service!

Notably coming in to replace these guys (apart from the ones that I already have is Gaston Galati, a young creative playmaker in the midfield. At 19 years old, he's got a bright future in front of him. He got a bit underplayed in the half-season that I had him, due to a congestion in the foreign spots, but he'll be our starting central midfielder next year for sure.

Finally, in the wake of the Hilterman sale and Salman stalling a bit this year, I brought in Gerson Salazar for free from Atletico Nacional in Colombia, after a very successful 3-year stint in the MLS. I intend to play him as a False Nine or even Complete Forward to complement Jair Grisales. He's likely not the silver bullet but will definitely get us in the right direction.

League Performance

Nothing very special in the league, I feel that we're plateauing a bit this season. The top 4 was again strongly packed and while we got the occasional result against them, we were not consistent enough to officially be part of them, unless they massively underperform. Coupled with a few bad performances against some mid-table sides when there was a need for squad rotation.

On the bright spots, our defence is definitely improving with only 28 goals conceded, ending 5th in the league. Also 5th on the league for goals scored. Also 5th in the league position. Yeah. 5th. Across. The. Board.

EURO CUP II

We came in to the Euro Cup II through the qualification stages, with easy matches against Vaduz and Nitra in Slovakia, both very easy targets. In the group stage, we were drawn against Lokomotiv Moscow, Basel and Valerenga. I was hopeful of a good result, but was a bit weary of Lokomotiv, which was the first seed. Turns out that the Norwegians were the hardest opposition and even beat us 2-0. The other matches were quite hard-fought, but we prevailed in most of them. Solid football in all of them.

image.thumb.png.2f862f7ac2a2f98305d34b7f2f624b32.png

The knockout stages started with a pretty good beating of Anderlecht on the road, thanks to 3 goals from Salman, after a spell of not doing anything in the league... The Quarter Final against Club Brugge was another game where we played a very dominant match on the road and held on in the return leg.

Getting then Wolfsberger in Austria for the Semi final, we were the better side on the first match at home, but we had to resort to a late goal by Benita (after he missed a penalty earlier in the match). On the return leg, we scored a goal early on a corner then played solid defence and frustrated them for most of the match, sending us to the Final against Feyernood Rotterdam.

The match was quite even, we had the best chances, held possession most of the time and a we were rewarded with an early goal from Grisales on a low cross from our left back Larsson. And with that, we were winners of our first European trophy! Proud of the boys!

Furthermore, this qualifies us directly for the group stages of the EURO Cup next year.

Turkish Cup

Reached the quarter final, but we got completely beaten by a strong Trabzonspor side, 4-0 at home. A very bad loss, but it was at the point where we reached the board expectation, so I didn't care very much because we were focusing on Europe and on the league.

Turkey

This year, I got called up as the coach of Turkey, as my first ever international management job in FM. We played in the European International League and beat Hungary, Serbia and Finland to get promotion of that group, while also giving the first caps for Ismail Olgun and my very own Ender Ak. Our Euro Championship Qualifying group was drawn with Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, Montenegro and Malta. It's starting well with wins against Montenegro and Slovenia, we hope to survive against Spain and win the rest and get qualification. The next Euro is in 2032, definitely looking forward to that. We currently are ranked 29th in the World, I'll keep track of that.

Notable Performances

Still mostly rocking an asymmetric vertical tiki-taka formation, it's been working very well for us.

Jair Grisales ST - 29 goals, 6 assists, 41(6) apps, 7.21 avg. rating

He has become our main attacking threat this year, with 29 goals across all competitions. Very He's been very good, is either footed and has pretty good offensive skills and likes big matches. He's due to get Turkish Nationality in two years, which I look forward to.

Signed as he came in second on the NxGn award for a whooping 1.5M€ from IF Elfsborg, Oskar is emerging as our prime option on the left back and he is our second player with the Wonderkid attribute, which is a good bragging right in itself.

Our first very own youth academy product to break in the first team, playing mostly centre back for us with some appearances at fullback. I capped him twice and he played well even at that level. Very promising and works super well in our system.

He was on loan at Adana DS in the entire season and he performed great, leading that team to the 1.League title. A great season with 27(1) apps, 6 goals and 9 assists and progressing very steadily. At 17 years old, he's going to our First team next season for sure.

- The board is getting more ambitious, they want us to qualify for the EURO Cup at the end of 2034/35, which means either winning the Turkish Cup or finishing in the top 4 in the league. It's what I want anyway, so we're aligned with the board on that.

- We're consistently getting the board to improve the facilities, as we're in good financial position with 23 M€ in the bank.

- European Winners:

    - Champions Cup: PSG

    - EURO Cup: Real Madrid

    - EURO Cup II: Fethiyespor

@jmarchandnice progress and well done on the european trophy. Have the board increased expectations now you have qualified for the euro cup.

Thanks @Mahzun_Savas and @Thebaker! The expectations in Europe are to qualify for the Third Qualifying round of the EURO Cup, which is guaranteed at this point because we're going directly to the groups... And they want us to qualify for the EURO Cup through the league in 3 years, which is a good thing because this is where I want to go too!

@aldojags I haven't followed the thread as closely as others, but I indeed think that's the first European silverware to report. I had the chance to go do the Mickey Mouse competition of Europe with a club that I feel has a respectable level instead of directly qualifying to the Champions League dominating the league like @_JHTB_ at Donegal Celtic... I expect that you'll be in a similar position should you qualify for Europe with your German Optics-making Football Club!

Season Review 2030/31

League Table | Fixtures 1 & 2 | Manager Profile | Facilities | Finances | Transfers | Club Vision

Incredibly frustrating end to an otherwise good season. We were top of the league with 4 games left, and in semi finals of Europa League. I honestly thought we could win one, if not both of them. We had a great Champions League campaign on our debut in the competition, getting 10 points from the group, but this was only enough for 3rd with our inferior head to head record. But we did manage to beat Man City away, and scudded Atalanta home and away. Drew 2-2 with PSG at home, from leading them in last minute before conceding last kick of the game. However the end of the season - We not only got annihilated off Leipzig in the Europa League, but we completely bottled it in the league, and a 94 minute winner for Eintrach Frankfurt in their game, coupled with our loss, on the last day of the season dropped us out top 4 and into Europa League. Still processing how it happened! We looked so good and solid most the season, but the run you'll see from the fixtures link at end of season, we were so fragile, lost so many games, and has my questioning my system/tactics/squad again.

But, if you'd offered me semi's of Europa, 10 champions league points, and 5th, I may have taken it. But not next year, it's an all out assualt on the league again, the Europa league is getting the reserves this year, even though I could probably win it if i set my mind to it. But I want top 4 again, that will be my priority.

German league really strong - all German Europa league final, Bayer beating Leipzig, and B Monchengladbach won Europa conference.

Team

Usual starting 11 listed, with some of the back/regular rotational guys.

GK - Koaudio Tiesse - Ivorian keeper, really like him, happy to run with him for long term.

RB - Ales Breda - signed for £6m from Slavia Prague, and wanted by Champions League winners AC Milan - like him a lot though so it'd take silly money offer to sell him.

CB - De la Rosa and Aguilera, both wanted, both want away as I promised them CL qualification! Again, will need to be silly money as I like them both, contracted for years, and they are young.

LB - Escudero, argentinian left back, decent versatile player.

DMs/CMs - home grown talent Kevin Meissner - who has not turned into the player I hoped he would, despite playing pretty much every week for us since he was 17! A good player still and he always does well filling in at CB too.

Warren Bondo - not as good as he was last year but still important to us.

Holm Schicht - on loan from Leipzig, like him a lot but they will not loan him back to a divisional rival, and they want like £70m for him, which ain't happening!

Abdullah Besmar - got this insane looking Syrian midfielder from a team in his homeland for £700k - attributes look insane but he was average, I need to give him more time.

Wide areas - Anthony Mintah started most the time at right wing, good player but I'd sell him if correct offer came in as I'm stacked on right.

Anthony Fonseca would often start at the left. Jan Stark signed from Dortmund flattered to deceive, I can't decide on his best position.

Sebastien Denniger - home grown talent, technicals aren't much but mentals and physicals are good, and look at his record in Europa league! Played him cutting in from the left.

Strikers - Main man Lamonaco - injured and missed most of the end of the season - we missed him, main man for us. Will try and keep him long as i can but his goals per game record since coming 2.5 years ago is incredible, if he stays fit and keeps it up this year, I think Bayern or someone will come calling.

Signorelli - great attributes but not as good as Lamonaco, he did step up pretty well end of season when he got his chance through Lamonaco's injury- he's not going to play much next year and will likely take the huff with me and want away.

Daniel Sandoval - didn't do much but I didn't give him much of a chance, but again, his attributes apart from pace are all pretty great!

Youth Watch

Preview | Intake | Squad view

Crap intake which has me pondering my 72 year old HOYD future, not sure what to do, may give him one more year! And despite having affiliations with clubs in Holland, South Korea, and Serbia for years, all set up to send us youngsters through academy, I have yet in 10 years of save to have a player who doesn't have German as a first nationality...I feel this must be bugged. I had those affiliations in FM22 and I was getting foreigner youth prospects all the time.

Had a few home grown prospects feature at times for first team, Meissner and Denniger are linked above - otherwise we have Oliver Ganz, Ron Bernsdorf who are probably most noteworthy, although they are nothing but decent squad players, doubt either will ever be starters.

Next season

Board just want Europa Conference qualification, which is 7th, but I'm aiming top 4, and dare I say it to have another shot at the title, as I won't be letting Europe distract me this year. Board gave me 40m to spend, I sold someone for 20+ million, so I had 60m to spend, and have spent it all! Mainly attack minded midfielders/wide players - not sure we needed them but I was so annoyed at end of season I'm just going guns blazing!

Took a bit of a break:

Kind of had a boring season, 2nd in league, 3rd in CL group, 2nd knockout round by Sevilla (got a red card in the home game, I think we could have gotten farther.)

I think the team is going to take a couple steps back in the next couple years, I need to get some of these 4-5 star potential youngsters playing time if I'm going to take the next step as a club.

I'm pretty good at getting teams to this part, but the next step is harder for me, I get these 2-3 stars nice good Scottish premier league players and I'll be like the top 25-30 clubs in the world, but not further.

Proud we finally get a new stadium in June.  I think the extra money might help us sign some actual wonderkids and not just the every once in a while nice kid I find I hope turns good, we have VERY good facilities now.  Excellent training and youth.

Save is kind of in a rut, we stomp everyone but Celtic and Rangers and the Euro games are kind of interesting also.  We did win the 2nd most important domestic cup this year.

I think I need to do a better job of selling these guys at their peak and reinvesting in the club, instead of saying, 'hey this is a nice rotation player, i'll keep him 5 years." Definitely something I need to get better at:  Super fun to be a champions league group stage team 4 years in a row and only get 6 mil a year for transfers. (still have cup final but celtic should beat us again)

This will be one less thorn on our side... Fenerbahçe had promised Toni Martinez, their star striker, that they would win the Turkish Cup, and they failed to do so. Now, he's unhappy and will be going back to Spain.

He was just obliterating the league, scoring 37 and 36 league goals in the past two years, coming just short of the most ever goals in the SuperLeague, a record dating back to 1987 (39, by Tanju Çolak of Galatasaray).

Table | Squad | Transfers

After relegation last season many of my players wanted to leave which i refused which annoyed them and led Norberg and Jensen to decide to see out their contract. I had to to promise some of them the club would be promoted which wasn't a hard promise to make as the board expected me to win the league.

Started the season strongly to lead by halfway with a 6 point gap and going 17 unbeaten before then losing to struggling Akropolis who finished with 8 players! Thereafter the team's form was patchy and Karlsberg kept winning to close to 1 point with 2 games to go only to blow it by losing the last 2 and hand me the title in the last game.

In the swedish cup the team beat div 2 Grebbestads 6-1 away before facing Allsvenkan Varbergs Bois at home. In a tight match the team tired in ET and lost 0-1.

Finances remained quite steady for most of the season but dropped due to board agreeing to increase the training facilities for £750k at the end on the season.

Manged to sell Norberg after signing u21 international Bjorkman who was superb.

Cakaric was again good after a slow start and showed this is his level, his partneship with Jensen was great. Jensen had a fantastic season after a poor one last season but ended up still leaving as i couldn't change his mind.

The Spartans FC Logo.png

The Spartans - Scotland - 2027/2028

Another three team war for the title in League 1 this season...unfortunately we were not one of those three teams as we slipped back pretty hard. I'm not so good at this game.

League Table

Top three teams were way above the rest with us battling three other teams all season long for the playoff spot, which we claimed on the final day with a 4-0 thrashing of already relegated Peterhead.

In the playoffs we got Cove Rangers, who won League 1 last season. Pretty uneventful 0-0 draw at home in the first leg, then a fairly even battle but a couple unlucky goals had us losing 0-2. Cove then beat Airdrie to stay up in the Championship.

Frustrating season as we lost our best player because he wanted to play at a higher level...and then he went to Airdrie in our league. We similarly lost our first good regen at right fullback, he ended up at Queen of Sth (on loan from St. Mirren) in our league. At least he is moving on next season to an actual big club in Hearts.

Cups

Bad season for us in the cups. We did have our best finish yet in the Premier Sport Cup, finishing 3rd in our group with a win and a penalty shootout win. But we lost in the first round of the SPFL Trust Trophy to Ayr from League 2, 0-2 despite outshooting them 29-10. And a tough draw for us in the Scottish Cup as we faced Inverness. Managed a draw in our first game before losing 0-2 in the replay.

Key Players

Another formation change for us as we moved to a 4-3-3 to accommodate my best regen so far.

AML Lewis Wright - We had three players tie for the lead with 12 goals but Wright also added 7 assists mostly playing as an inside forward. A regen from 2023, he helped get East Kilbride promoted from League 2 last season. Nice physical attributes, hoping he can lead our team for awhile.

ST Jack Dolzanski - Also scored 12 goals leading the line, he has been my striker the last two seasons on loan from St. Johnstone. Need to find a better alternative next season though as he disappears far too often.

DC Matthew Kellichan - Another on loan player from Kilmarnock, easily our best defender. He'll be back on loan again next season, need to find a quicker partner next to him though.

Youth Intake

We got a centerback I'm pretty excited about in Steve Ross, I think he'll make a good backup for Kellichan next season. Slow but good in the air. And Gerry Dunsmore looks like he could wreak some havoc in the midfield with his aggression and workrate.

Finances

Still doing good, no worries there

Looking Ahead

Really want to get promoted, I don't know if I can tolerate another season where we're not at least contending for the title. I think we can be better next season, our midfield is pretty well set. Need a better striker and some help on defense. I think I figured out why our title run fizzled out last season, we were depending on our two primary scorers who had crap mentals and they complete wilted. So hopefully switching out Dolzanski at striker and then moving Lawson to a wing where we're less dependent on him will help.

Overview

Transfer Window:

Incomings: In the summer we broke our transfer record pretty soon into the window (though only by 100k) as we brought in Jorquera to provide some more competition in defense. The majority of the other signings in the summer we bought with the future in mind or just general punts. We did however bring in Ljubinkovic who was to add depth up front, but he failed to obtain a work permit so he was loaned out to get one. Jorquera didn’t remain our record transfer for long as in the summer we signed Garcia for £3.6m, he is likely to be my long term striker, the main downside is his height so isn’t a huge ariel threat.

Outgoings: Generally fringe players who were sold for us this season. The main one Crooks left us after 8 seasons. He was down the pecking order a bit so it made sense to sell and we got a good price for him. We also sold Vallejo for £4m which is a decent profit on the £700k we paid for him 2 seasons prior.

Europe: Comfortably qualified for the group stages though we are at the stage where not many of the teams in the qualifiers give us much trouble,

An ok group, Zenit, Napoli and Dortmund, not as easy as last year but I was happy enough we could give a good account of ourselves. The start of the group however did not go to plan, losing each of our first 3 games. We then decided to win away at Napoli and Dortmund alongside a win against Zenit at home saw us end up 2nd. I’d have probably preferred to come 3rd and into the Europa League for coefficient reasons, but I was happy enough.

We got a tough draw in the next round as we faced off against Juventus. Although the first leg was at home we were second best, losing 4-1. We did however, manage to earn ourselves a draw in the second leg. Apparently we’re better away from home in Europe W2 D1 L1 compared to home W1 D0 L3.

League: Dominant yet again, though there was a few games this season that although statistically we were much better than our opposition the scorelines didn’t suggest as much. Regardless, the 4th  season in a row with only wins for us, we surely will drop points eventually but given our wage bill is 6 times higher than the second highest in the league it is expected of us to be stronger.

Cup: League Cup, Antrim Shield, Irish Cup and the All Ireland Champions League all retained.

Next Season/General

We broke our transfer record twice this season, I think next year we will probably do so again quite comfortably. It is time for me to start ramping up the transfers both fees and wages as we start properly gearing towards European success. I feel we’re still a few years from being close to challenging but now is the time for me to spend the money I’ve saved up I feel. (Cue me signing nobody again)

We got a stadium expansion this season so we now sit in our mighty 2617 capacity stadium. We do have plans to upgrade it to just over 3000 this season but I want us to get a bigger stadium so we can actually play in Europe at home.

Players of note

Rhys GuppyI swear I just rewrite this paragraph for Guppy each season, fantastic player for us yet again. Though he probably did under perform a little in Europe. 51 goals and 43 assists in all competitions though. Unfortunately, there is some rumblings of him wanting to leave, I’ll be doing my all for that not to happen.

Remi McCallMcCall was yet again a very important player for us and almost actually pipped Guppy for our overall best performer. He’s on loan for another season, but as he only has 1 year left on his deal at Manchester United it may be his last (though hopefully we’ll be able to persuade him to join up permanently.

Barry O’ConnorAnother regular starter that is an academy graduate. He’s a very solid player for us in defense and a very consistent performer. Unfortunately for him, he is at his limit now which whilst is very good for the league is not quite where we need for Europe so he may find himself down to a squad player before too long which is a bit harsh considering his only ever good performances for us.

Youth Watch

Ryan PowerLast season Power moved one up the pecking order following one strikers departure, this season we didn’t manage to secure a loan extension on our other striker so he started the season as first choice, did well to be honest. After the January arrival of Garcia however, he dropped back to back up. A good deputy to have nonetheless.

Matt HarbinsonHarbinson continued to be our back up defensive midfielder this season, though he had a bit more competition for that role this season so didn’t feature as much. I think this is where he’ll end up for us so if we do get further cover in his position then I wouldn’t be opposed to selling him for the good of his career.

Glen CrowleySpent another season out on loan bagging himself another 21 league goals. He’s clearly a very good player for this level, but hard to see him breaking into our team. He’s likely to stay out on loan, but he’s another that I would consider selling.

Yeah, I had one a few years back, honestly nothing much changed - though we were already at the point of raking in a lot of money from Europe so perhaps it'll be different with lower finances?

Yeah, I feel I'd have a good chance at winning the Euro II should I be in it, but at this stage being in the Euro II would be considered a failure by all accounts. A continental competition win is still good going though and is sure to give you a good reputation bump whilst also helping the overall coefficients of your league.

Oh, that is painful, still a decent season for you allow you to continue to build up. You have some bad luck with injuries to strikers though, that's the second major injury you've had there - hopefully you can avoid them in the future.

How are you doing financially? Seems strange you'd not be at least getting a little more in the budget unless you're not making much net profit over the year. How big is your new stadium? Hopefully that will help give you the money boost to enhance your transfer budget.

I got 15mil this year, and I sold a bunch of players and basically remade my team with 4-5 star potential kids.

We will see how that works.  Just got new stadium that tripled our capacity

Hyeres 83 FC - end of season review 2030/31

Another comfortable season in Ligue 2, finishing in 11th. At the end of February we were actually in the promotion playoff positions only to go on a 7 game run where we managed to draw once and lose 6 times, scoring a total of 2 goals. We somehow managed to lose 5 of those games 1-0! We didn't have an injury bug, and while we played 3 of the top 4 teams we also played the bottom two in there as well. After that the season was over and we somewhat limped to the end.

Star player was probably Idris Odutayo playing left wing back. He was a consistent threat all year and the only player to average over 7.0. Ibrahima Sow had a down year, only hitting the target 11 times after hitting 20 the past two seasons. Hopefully it's not the start of a decline at 30... The return of Romeo Vermant for £250k was the big signing, but he somewhat underperformed all year with only 3 goals, 3 assists and a 6.91 average. Next year we're going to need a new DC, WBR and a DMC who can control things. The guys we've got are rated well but constantly disappoint.

In other news we doubled our average attendance from last season as the locals are finally starting to show some interest in the team. Hopefully another season of consolidation in Ligue 2 will get a few more of them interested for next season. The finances are ok, our budgets have increased slightly for next season even though we're still in the red

We had our first youngster from the academy make his way into the first team squad this year, with Célian Troin making 11 appearances up front off of the bench. He has a lot of potential according to my coaches so hopefully he can bloom into something special

Table | Squad | Transfers

This season played out in a similar way to the teams last season in the superettan where the team started with 6 points from the first 8 games before going on a run of 1 loss in 11 and ending with 2 wins in the last 11 to just about avoid relegation.

In the swedish cup the team were away to D1S Karlslunds and were hammered 0-3 which was a big disappointment and the start of the final poor run.

Finances increased slightly but not enough to improve any facilties or turn pro. Zivic was sold as he wanted to leave, i still did not get anywhere close to what i wanted but it was more the £500 that clubs have kept offering for the last 2 years.

My best player was Haraldsson who was the league top scorer, signed him with no competition but he now wants to leave as the club is not good enough.

Club Legend Noori  (279 apps, 126 goals) left at the end of the season along with Ahlstrand (239 apps) who had been a decent servent to the club.

Didn't get a screenshot at the time but the youth intake was very promising and one of my best i realise.  The top 14 are all this years intake with several not far from being backup players.

Having a bad time of it this season....sitting in 8th, after my promise to make an all out assault on the top 4 again, ill be lucky to get in Europe.

Spent a bloody fortune on amazing looking players none of whom have delivered! And I am lucky to get an xg of 1.5 per week, dont really know how to fix it and my name has appeared in the "sack race" a couple of times!

And can someone tell me how this centre half, who is deemed a leading bundesliga centre back, mexican international, is valued at 600k!? He got annoyed when i knocked back Bayern with a bid of half a mill - he's worth 50mil! this has to be a bug?

My save with Pamplona is still going although I have been playing it extremely slowly. Season 2 is over and I am in an interesting situation. I was supposed to finish in the top half of the table, but failed on the last day of the season with a bad loss. I was pulled up before the board and almost sacked. Instead it was negoiated that I had to get 9 points from the next 5 matches even though there is no matches left in the season. Presumably this will apply to the first five matches of the new season but it does seem a strange way to do things. However my contract is about to run out and I am not sure they are going to offer me a new one so I might be gone before the 5 matches are played. I tried asking for a new contract and they replied no one is getting a new contract before they really need one due to the financial position of the club which is very bad.

It does carry over onto the new season, so should you still be in charge you would be required to get 9 points from the opening 5 games of the new campaign. On how it works with your contract expiring I do not know, it could be that they give you a new contract but keeping the points target. If I remember correctly, unless you're fired you end up on a rolling contract (similar to how it works for players and other members of staff) until you choose to leave or the board decide to remove you.

I've had much the same for the past 3 or 4 seasons now - I just tend to let them be annoyed and then wait for them to be happy again and get them to sign a new contract. My player values are slowly getting to a more reasonable level but still don't really receive any bids that I'd be willing to sell for.

In other news we doubled our average attendance from last season as the locals are finally starting to show some interest in the team.

Your average attendance is higher than what mine is! (for league games anyway)
That said, mine is limited by stadium capacity currently hopefully I can get a new stadium soon.

171 matches won in a row. 212 games without losing. So frustrating as it's not like we didn't have the chances to keep it going. (Incidentally we recently played Ballymena in the cup and only managed to beat them on penalties after similar dominance). I'm so annoyed.

Season Review 2031/32

League Table | Fixtures 1 & 2 | Manager Profile | Finances | Facilities | Club Vision | Transfers

A frustrating campaign - last season I was top of the league with 4 games to go, but ended up bottling it to fall out the top 4 in the last minute of the season. This year, the hangover continued. Struggled in the league all season, despite heavy investment, xG was a joke in some games, often struggled to hit xG of 1, and would often finish games with less than 10 attempts at goal - I have no way to explain this, we played the same system we have used since Fm 19 which has served me well (and in this save up until now). So many of the big money new signings completely failed to deliver, my wingers averaged 6.1-6.2, to the point where I'd question has there been an update that has broken the game. Like I did not get a good season from the umpteen high quality wingers I have. I probably chopped and changed too much in terms of personnel, so frustrated with nothing happening and getting beat off teams I'd normally easily dispatch, that I just changed the team all the time. Spent the whole season fining people for bad performances, every week I had like 2-3 players below 6.3/6.2, has left me in a quandry about how to proceed. I have played nearly half the next season from this, and spoiler alert, it hasn't got any better!

I do not understand how I got champions league 2 seasons ago, on paper my squad is so much stronger, which makes me think it must be me!!

Snuck into qualifying for Europa Conference league, but I wanted Champions league, and this is a massive failure for me. And the Arsenal defeat in Europa league was against my kids (who beat them in first leg) so I wasnt too bothered.

Team

GK Seydou Kouado Tessie -Ivorian keeper, always solid, I love him.

RB Ales Breda - solid player, Juve have been interested for a while, not sure how long he'll be with us. Bayern offered us £30m for him at end of season but I rejected.

LB Miguel Gutierrez - on loan from Hertha, good season, I didnt take the £7m option on him as there's a young guy I have coming through who I like, but this guy was good.

CB Santiago Aguilera - most European giants have bid on him at some point, I've promised him CL qualification thia season coming or I'll need to sell him. Good player.

CB Christian De La Rosa - good player on paper but weirdly has a tiny value, but he's been here a few years and I like him.

CM - Abdul Besmar - Syrian international with insane attributes, but was rubbish most of the year. I have got a good run out of him in the next season so far though so I'm hoping he can start living up to the insane value he has.

Warren Bondo - Prob been our best player for 3-4 years, but wanted a new deal for megabucks and he's 29 soon, I sold him at end of season for good money to Hoffenheim, I am stacked at centre midfield so was ok.

AMR - Fellipe Santana - £13m from Brazil, two footed, insane attributes, but was rubbish.

AML - Bruno Luis - spent good money on him too, rubbish.

Striker - Miguel Angel Lomonaco - poor season from our star man, so when Real Madrid offered £100m+ for him I took it, I need a mini rebuild and he'd only scored 3 by Xmas, when he's usually 20-30 goals a season.

Striker - Max Signorelli - great looking attributes but has had 2-3 seasons with us of being injured or just being average, so I sold him too at end of season!

Notable others.

Neto - spent £18m on him from Brazil, and take a guess - he was rubbish!

Kevin Meissner - youth academy graduate, always solid, most plays Cm but sometime CB.

Jan Stark - German international, but I dunno what his best position is, and he never does anything special, he'll be getting sold if it keeps up.

Jaume Gomez - £14m signing from Atletico, he was ok.

Youth Watch

Preview | Intake | Squad List

Nothing special, nobody deserving of a screenshot. 2nd crap intake in a row, sacked my HOYD!

My youth team seem to win everything going though.

Next season

As you can see above, I sold a few first teamers, made a few signings, and it's more of the same. I'm sitting in 6th place after 10 games, inconsistent, can't score, wingers killing us with 6.1 every game. So i have changed system to a narrow 41221 with 2 central AMC behind striker, so no wingers means they cant kill me with their poor performances, I've played about 5 games with it and havent lost, look a wee bit better. I've coasted my Europa group so far 5 wins from 5 with Bilbao away to come. Still think if I screw the nut I can make 4th.

I've a dilemma. I've been testing the waters on bringing Remi McCall in on a permanent deal, the crux being it would take £42M (huge increase on our record transfer) and would want about £100k p/w where our highest earner is currently on £27k p/w - what do we reckon, is he worth it?

@_JHTB_bloody hell what a run!! that is mental!!!

Yeah, obviously when a run like that ends you're disappointed, but it far exceeds anything I have managed in Football Manager in the past. (I'm hopeful that us losing a game is a sign that the league is catching up quality wise which could help for European Coefficients but we've won every game since).

1 hour ago, aldojags said:

Shame you've had a tough season, but at least you've ended with some European qualification even if it's at a lower level that you'd have wanted. Also, looking at the table seems you just needed some draws converted to wins as you didn't really lose that many just had a bundle of draws. Hopefully next season with easier European ties can help propel you back into Champions League Qualifying in the league.

@_JHTB_McCall is worth it in that he's a top quality player, but with your league reputation, the resale value, it's probably not a sensible "financial" decision, but in a footballing sense - he's a fantastic champions league calibre midfielder with his best years in front of him - if he's interested in coming  to you permanently I'd take the plunge!

More often than not in FM, when I've not done something for fear of the financial repercussions, I've regretted it, you can work out the money later! But players like that don't come along often, and you've had him on loan a few seasons so you'll know he wont disappoint.

Season 10 | 2031-2032 | Fethiyespor, the new generation

Last season was very successful for Fethiyespor, winning the EURO Cup II, but still was unable to break in the Top 4, with Galatasaray, Trabzonspor, Besitkas and Fenerbahçe finishing quite comfortably ahead of us in the league. At the same time, we have a wave of promising youngsters starting to appear in the lineup, so the future looks bright.

Transfers

Let's break this into the two windows, as it's been very different...! In the summer, it's been pretty calm. we've notably sold Burak Ince, a pretty good midfielder to Trabzonspor for 3.5M€. He was getting restless about a new contract and he wasn't worth the wages that he was asking for and is now stalling at Trabzonspor. Former first-team defensive midfielder Yasin Ceylan was also out to Kasimpasa for 725 k€, his contract was not going to be renewed anyway...

Coming in are a few interesting prospects, Cornel Oprea, a Romanian right-back which I poached from the NxGn list of wonderkids last year and will fill in when Mattias Macchi ends his loan back period and returns to Manchester United at the end of this season. There was also Hamed Junior Traoré, who came on an end of contract from Sassuolo. I figured he'd bring experience and versatility. Then, in the first week he's been with us, he damages his Achilles Tendon and misses 4 months. He was good, but not quite to the level that we had hoped initially.

In the winter window, that's when all hell broke loose.

image.png.dc8a3fd19bb6d26cd34c5c0bd0d57f29.png

Yes.

  • Zain Al-Din Salman, who was one of our leading goalscorer for a few seasons when we made the jump to the SuperLig. His idea of himself (and the wages that came along with them) really didn't align with mine and he was off before his contract ran out. Scored 3 goals in 5(6) apps for Augsburg.
  • Dejan Risteski, a good Australian central defender, who stopped progressing a bit and fell out of the club to the point where he wasn't even registered because he was hogging a Foreign spot.
  • Sebastjan Mesaric, our backup Left Back, who was not worth that much... He wasn't bad, but he was not 4.1M€ good. I got him as a loan back, though to finish the season. And then, he's a backup because I have my boy Oskar Larsson in front of him, right?
  • Mimeirhel Benita. our star right winger, our assist leader last year, signed on a free transfer from Chelsea, but had a 15M€ release clause, because I could not have afforded him otherwise attracted information from Porto. I really didn't want to sell him, but figured out that I would try my luck with Porto's negotiable offer and they actually put in a bid for 9M€ above the release clause. And off he went too. That threw off the dynamics of the club a bit, but we powered through it. He went on to score 3 goals in 13 apps. Good, but not stellar, maybe they're playing him in a different position, not sure exactly... If I had forked 24M€ for that kind of performance, I'd be disappointed.
  • Baris Çelik  was a good rotation option in our midfield, especially when we were running out of Turkish players... Playing mostly DLP, I cashed in when the offer came in, even if it was from a rival club.
  • Bekir Konyali was our rock in the defence. 20 years old, deemed a wonderkid, scoring the occasional goal from the corner, but unwilling to negotiate a contract without his 13.25M€ release clause. Atletico Madrid saw that and talked directly to the board. He's now averaging a 7.25 rating in La Liga, so that's a great piece of business (for them).
  • Oskar Larsson was our star left back, and was playing great for us. Atletico also came in for him and it was just like Bekir, he had a release clause which could not be negotiated off and he was on his way to Madrid. He'll do great in the future for sure.

So I had to scramble a bit, but there wasn't really much on the market. I found Luis Antônio in Brazil to cover in front and Ali Asghar Molaei in Iran (off the nxGn list too), a two-footed full back who I'm retraining as a left back. But in the end, I decided that I had to trust the young guys that I had at the club and that if they wanted to get first team action, they'd get plenty of it.

League Performance

We started pretty well, setting the tone right away with a 1-0 win in Istanbul against Besiktas. The form was pretty good until November when we started a 11 games without defeat, including a nice 4-1 beating away at Fenerbahçe, which saw us rise in the table. Then, in early January, among all the transfer window turmoil, Jair Grisales, our main man up front, tore his ACL and was out for 5-8 months on that season-ending injury and he was integral part of the team until then, with 14 goals and 7 assists in 21(2) games.

Amazingly, the team rallied on and continued the run, Ismail Olgun and Luis Antônio stepping in the role with an impressive 4-0 trumping of Besiktas when they came to play in Fethiye. We were unbeaten almost to the end of the season, when we dropped one to Adana Demirspor, who was just sitting in the relegation zone, dropping us to second place, two points away from Besiktas. On the very last day of the season, they amazingly lost against Erzerumspor, also a mid-low table team and we got in there just enough to secure our first ever Super League title.

image.thumb.png.58456bb066c24f3aad36e8ef65dea662.png

image.png.5b765b32a6f32ed6d62d5659c5c49b49.png

And with that, we get a 5.6 M€ prize money (all of which was redistributed to the players and staff because I had selected a high bonus), but more importantly, it gets us straight in the Champions League Group Stage for next year, which is a huge win in itself.

Europe

With virtue of winning the ECII last year, we were straight in the groups of the EURO Cup this year. Drawn against Zenit St. Petersburg, Ajax and Viktoria Pizen, we cruised the group, including an mipressive win of 6-0 against Zenit and a 4-1 at home against Ajax.

We were then drawn against Villareal in the Second Knockout Round, which we managed pretty well, but heartbreakingingly lost on the return match, after conceding a 92nd minute goal, then losing in a penalty shootout, missing our 2 last shots, either of which would have given us the win.

image.thumb.png.0b7e027bbe729565b02445409b6cb5e0.png

Turkish Cup

Nothing to write home about here. It started well, but then got Trabzonspor in the semi-final and, after losing 0-1 in the first match, I decided to heavily rotate the team on the return leg in an effort to preserve fitness for the last stretch of the league calendar and we were well beaten 4-1 in the return leg.

Team - Notable performances

After Jair Grisales was hurt, Luis Antônio and Ismail Olgun really stepped in. But the real star of the team is Harun Açil, more on him below.

image.png.c72a94824272229172a060f84de756b8.png

Harun Açil (YP30) - MC - 36(3) apps, 16 goals, 11 assists, 7.41 avg. rating

He's been the real star of the team and now has the wonderkid description (first one coming in from our academy!). He just turned 18, is a regular member of the Turkish U21 team and just signed a contract renewal (which unfortunately included a release clause...)

He's been ever present and is a large part of why we challenged for the title this year.

Révélation

image.thumb.png.ee0fb6dd618a1c054e7065ec05df4091.png

Ismail Olgun - AMR, ST - 41(3) apps, 22 goals, 10 assists, 5 PoM, 7.46 avg. rating

Ismail shone through the injuries and scored at a very respectable rate and held us afloat during the troubled times with the injuries. With everyone coming back in, he'll likely come in on the right wing next year.

Révélation

image.thumb.png.520e3e5584d7875cb5695ac2a6b8c6d2.png

Ali Kavas - DC - 34(4) apps, 6 goals, 2 assists, 7 PoM, 7.58 avg.rating

Already playing in the defence, but prompted to the forefront with the sale of Bekir Konyali, Ali Kavas did very well and is a force to be reckoned with on corners, with his 17 jumping reach.

The Spartans - Scotland - 2028/2029

Well, this season went a lot like last. Bad start, not able to get anywhere near the leaders. We were 7th a quarter of the way through. But I think we kind of figured things out midseason. We made it into the playoffs with a game to spare by beating East Fife 5-0 with the help of 3 red cards against them. In the playoffs we faced Inverness from the Championship. We fought them to a 2-1 win at home in the first leg thanks to a late penalty then held on in the second leg for a 1-1 draw to advance to the final. That saw us face Kelty Hearts, a team we did well against during the regular season. Our defense shut them down and we did just enough to win both legs 1-0 and advance to the Championship!

League Table

Our offense was not great but the defense was pretty stellar. I finally figured out that I needed to keep my defensive lines lower since my centerbacks are pretty slow and this had the knock on effect of providing space for my front 5 to run into. We finished with 15 clean sheets.

Cups

Premier Sports Cup - We finished last in our group but it wasn't all bad as we held Premiership side Kilmarnock to a 0-0 draw and beat them on penalties.

SPFL Trust Trophy - Much better here as we went on quite a run. We advanced through our first to matches on penalties over St Johnstone's U21 and Stranraer. We then pulled off our biggest ever win, beating Queen's Park from the Championship 4-2. A 3-1 win over Annan then put us into the semifinal. Unfortunately our run ended against Raith, also from the Championship, with a 2-3 loss at home.

Scottish Cup - We beat Bo'ness Utd 2-1 in our first match but drew a match at Premiership side Dumfermline and got thoroughly dominated 3-0.

Key Players

DC Matthew Kellichan was our player of the year, a rock in defense with a 7.38 rating. Best of all, we signed him to a contract from Kilmarnock so he's staying here. And during the winter break, I was able to sign Alex Kpakpe from Inverness to give him a partner going forward. Alex came back to haunt Inverness in the playoffs. We'll see if this pair is good enough for the Championship.

Lewis Wright keeps getting better. Our 20 year old regen is now our captain and was our leading scorer with 17 goals, mostly playing as an AML.

ST Andy Devlin was our second leading scorer with 16 goals as our primary striker. Only 7 in league though, 9 came in cup games. On loan from Motherwell, we'll be looking to upgrade this spot.

Dire Medube - A forward I've had my eye on for a couple season, he kept refusing us, even after getting relegated to League 2. Became a free agent and finally signed with us after we had brought in Devlin, he ended up playing quite a bit as a wide targetman on the right. 8 goals and 7 assists, he did pretty well. My plan for next season will be to start him and Wright up front with an as yet unknown striker with Innes Lawson backing them both up in his likely final season with us.

Youth Intake - We picked up a potential future False 9 in Alfie Marshall. Not terribly enthusiastic about anyone else.

Finances - Still very good, over 200K positive. I think we'll need to spend some of that to survive.

Looking Ahead - I think we're going to have a tough fight to survive but I'm happy with some of my starters. Need to figure out striker, DM, both fullbacks and our goalkeeper. But I'm happy with my 4-3-3 tactic and think it will serve us well as underdogs. We're very happy to have made some progress after it looked like we were stalling out.

Well, this was fast... We finished 3rd of our group in the Euro (a disappointing defeat against Serbia and a 2-2 draw with France and Mbappé scoring on the 92nd minute). Then, in the knockout round, we were drawn against England, which went on to lose in the Final to Spain.

It's a bit unfair, but in the end, it will allow me to concentrate on Fethiyespor's rise to the top!

Talking about rising, the wage demands go up like crazy when reaching the CL group stage...!

Overview

Transfer Window:

Incomings: In my last update I said I would comfortably break my transfer record this summer, but for the longest time we hadn’t (not through lack of trying to be fair). We did eventually break it on deadline day bringing in Camargo for £8.25m to strengthen our defensive unit. Most other signings were not actually for first team, at least immediately. Joao Vitor does look like he could be a good player for us in the future, but spent the season in the under 23s (mainly as we’ve currently better players ahead of him). I also made my first ever player exchange transfer as Bournemouth wanted our 3rd choice goalkeeper Unal and so offered us Andres which is an ok trade from my perspective. In January we did make another big (for us) money signing as O’Kane joined us for £6.75m.

Outgoings: Most of our outgoings were again fringe players as I continue to look to improve the overall strength of the depth options which requires getting rid of the old ones. The notable out was academy graduate Power. 66 goals for us in his career, but was kicking up a fuss over first team football so made the decision to sell him for £3.2m.

Europe: First season of qualifying in a later round for the Champions League, we generally eased our way into the group stage though did have a bit of a scare in the playoffs after losing the first leg and taking till the 2nd half to equalise the tie ultimately running out 3-1 aggregate winners.

We got the easiest group we could have hoped for, Sion, Utrecht and Nice so I was hoping for a repeat of a few years ago where we won all our group games. That hope ended after our second match as we found ourselves 2-0 down to Nice, we did manage to salvage a draw but still a shame. We also lost to Sion in the last game of the group but ended up topping the group.

What was our reward for topping the group? Manchester City of course the current holders of the competition. First leg was away, where we didn’t do too bad losing 3-2 but it meant we had it all to do in the second leg. We gave another good account of ourselves in the home leg but ultimately drew 1-1 to go out on aggregate.

League: Our worst league season in years. We comfortably retained the title, but lost 2 and drew 1 which from recent seasons is a serious downturn. We looked unconvincing in a number of games as well which I guess was due to complacency or something as we weren’t doing too bad in Europe.

Cup: League Cup we laboured our way to retaining it, taking extra time in two rounds in the lead up to the final. Antrim Shield was our most convincing cup competition this season saw it the remain the cup with our name on it the most times (12). The All Ireland Champions League we also retained, due to international call ups the second game saw us have to play a greyed out goalkeeper and bring on a greyed out player in the second half who went on to score. Irish Cup was incredibly disappointing, we lost in the semi-final stage after squandering so many chances.

Next Season/General

I am planning to spend even bigger this summer, I’ve identified a few top quality players who would be willing to join us but would be on hefty wages comparably to our current players. Given how close our tie against Manchester City I feel we could be close to a really good season in the Champions League, and if we sign up some high reputation players it could snowball into more players I want actually being willing to join us.

Our stadium is now maxed out at 3809 which in the few games we’ve played since the expansion was complete we sold out, so really it’s not big enough. Unfortunately the board won’t entertain building us a new one which is a shame.

Players of note

Rhys GuppyA below average year for Guppy only averaging a 7.95. He started the season not the best as he was annoyed at me for pricing him out of a move to Liverpool but, eventually, I won him round and he signed a new 5-year contract on £40k p/w. Another season of huge contributions in goals and assists with 40 goals and 38 assists he really is a machine. He now has 718 goal contributions in 600 appearances in all competitions. He’s now considered an Elite attacking midfielder and is a Model Professional.

Remi McCallMcCall is such a good player, like Guppy is now considered an Elite attacking midfielder and had another great season for us. I did try to sign him in January permanently but the first time we couldn’t agree terms and when I tried later he decided he didn’t want to sign for us – I did manage to extend his loan another season at least.

Alejandro CamargoOur record signing had a great first year for us in defense, though didn’t play as much as his squad status would imply, missing 16 league games this season. Regardless, a very good season for him as we start to try and he’s only 21 so plenty time to improve even further.

Youth Watch

Barry O’ConnorStill a pretty mainstay in the team this season for our homegrown defender but I wouldn’t actually be opposed to selling him as due to other players younger and improving he may slip down to 4th or maybe 5th choice centre back before too long so may be worth cashing in on him whilst we’re ahead.

Matt HarbinsonHarbinson has forced his way more into my reckoning this season, still not a first choice player, but I am leaning towards preferring him to O’Connor in defense (one of the reasons I’d be ok selling O’Connor). Still young but, according to our scouts at least he’s at his peak now. A useful squad player to have at our disposal.

Ryan BlackBlack had spent a couple of seasons on loan at Coleraine prior to this but rejected a loan extension. After receiving a £10m bid for him I realised I should probably start rotating him into the team where I can as he’s presumably got a pretty decent ceiling. He had a decent showing overall this year for us but would say he’s still quite far away from regular first team football with us. I am going to try and find a suitable loan next season I think to properly aid his development.

@_JHTB_love the look of Camargo, he is fantastic. Some of those home grown players are unreal man, O'Connor especially. Shame you had to sell Power, but he doesn't look like he turned into the player I thought he'd be a few seasons ago, so probably right decision to cash in.

That bank balance is unreal...how are you doing that with I presume little to no prize money in Ireland? Just selling players?

And how do the other Irish clubs get on in Europe now?

Season Report 2032/33

Table | Fixtures 1 & 2 | Finances | Club Vision | Manager Profile | Transfers

A fantastic run at the end of the season saw us sneak 4th place and Champions League qualification, after another largely frustrating season, where I couldn't get going until a late switch to a 4-1-2-1-2 diamond system, which boosted our form.

Also of note, and fairly significant, we won the Europa Conference League! Fixtures here - thought we'd win when qualified for it, looking at the previous winners I was sure I had the squad to get the trophy and it worked out that way. We FM'd PSV in the final, with 2 late goals in ET, where for about 110 mins of the game, we had 2 efforts on goal! We were awful but just snuck it at the end, I'll take it!

Team

Few new signings came in but most of the team was the same as previous few years.

GK - Tessie - great season from my Ivorian keeper, few pivotal penalty saves too, he saved 3 or 4 pens this year, great keeper.

RB - Raco - signed from River Plate, great debut season.

LB - Jaime Tenorio - this kid broke through late in season as my first choice left back, really good going forward, got some big offers for him from other German clubs in the £30m region but knocked them all back.

CB - 2 CB's are the usual suspects for past few years, Aguilera and De La Rosa. Both great, both can stay as long as they want.

DM - Kevin Meissner, the home grown talent isnt much to look at, but keeps it simple, is a valuable asset in both boxes at corners, I love him. Signed Alfredo for £34m to back him up/replace him one day. Dyonatas signed too as a young DM, I probably have too many players here and wasted a ton of money!

CM - Pimont - freebie signed from Rennes as a striker but had a good run of form in midfield so left him there. Other CM was either Gomez or Delauney.

AM - Abdul Besmar - great season, still prone for the odd 6.2 rating inexplicably, but a lot of the the time he was unstoppable. Chelsea are looking at him, reckon I could £80-£100m and i'd prob let him go for that, he's too inconsistent at times and he has the "doesn't like big matches" trait on his report. Alza scored the 2 goals that won our European trophy, he looked good at times but too inconsistent, i think this is just a attacking midfielder thing in FM?

Strikers - Fellipe Santana as a deep lying forward, who kept feeding new signing from Ludogorets Fillipov, who had a few bad injuries, but when fit you can see from his numbers he was great.  Signed Augusto and expected more, think his attributes looks great but he didn't do much. Looking to get Montaro involved next year who looks unreal.

Youth Watch

Preview | Intake

Changed HOYD to a dutch guy so I'll give him a few years to build his scouting knowledge of Germany up before I fully judge him, but he did produce the best regen I've had in save so far - Jurgen Egger- I am going to use him next season.

Next season

Board want top 7 in the league, and qualifying from my group in CL, I reckon they are both do-able, but I've never really got to grips with this save, had a few wobbles when I've thought I was on the road! But the diamond narrow formation worked well for me toward end of season, so hopefully some fine tuning of this can turn into a good season, stopping Bayern....I am miles away from this!

O'Connor has been great, and part of me wants to keep him in forever, but when he's got Camargo, Jorquera, Vitor and Harbinson all vying for his position with all of them arguably as good as him or at least with a higher potential I feel if I am to push forward in Europe it'll be without him. As much as a lot of my intakes aren't great, I can't argue that I've got some great players though my intake, Power, O'Connor, Guppy, Harbinson with a few more playing at a decent level still.

European football combined with a relatively low wage bill. We've been qualifying for the Champions League for however many seasons now and the millions in prize money that comes with it. The only real sale that will have boosted it was Jacko for £28m a few seasons back. (Incidentally Bournemouth sold him on for just £2.5m this season). The league prize money has been increasing with the league reputation so it's now £2m for winning the league and the County Antrim Shield gives over £1m.

Terribly. They get knocked out in the qualifying rounds every season leaving me to carry the coefficients on my own. To be fair, Crusaders did get to the Europa Conference Group stages this season (the first time any club other than us has reached group stages anywhere) but they finished bottom of their group.

You've some good players all over the pitch - I definitely agree with playing Pimont in midfield, his attributes suit it well I reckon.

I'd say that's a good season for you even if it were frustrating looking through your fixtures there was only 2 losses where by more than 1 and only 1 of the remaining ones where you conceded more than 1 so I'd suggest there's not a huge jump you'd need to make till you're fully challenging for the league. Add to that a European success I'd say that's a good season. Also, Egger looks like he could be sensational.

Table | Squad | Transfers

Started this season really well and was on top after 9 games, however a poor run against teams near the bottom soon dropped the team out of the promotion hunt. Never quite got back into contention for the rest of the season as losses kept coming when it seemed that some momentum was building up.

In the swedish cup the team played D1N Sollentuna in the 2nd rd and drew 2-2 away before winning on penalties. In the group stage the team had a hard group with Allsvensken teams Degerfors, AIK and Elfsborg and managed to draw 2 of the 3 matches.

Finances remain steady but not enough to change any facilities or turn pro. Sold my first choice GK although i signed Winkler who looks like he could take over easily. I also sold Bjorkman as he threatened to leave on a free and i thought i could get a good sell on from him.

Managed to squeeze a youth recruitment increase from the board.

The two main strikers were again really good but the diference this season was bringing in 2 wingers in Oscarsson and Justinussen who on the whole did very well with Oscarsson particually effective.

Great showing in a tough draw. Holding your ground against Manchester City is great in itself, you could have easily drawn them later in the tournament and you would have been satisfied with that result... Keep on going, you're not far from it!
