It required results to go our way and they didn’t, and we were needing FC Porto to lose a couple of games and Sporting Braga to do the same, but it is progress. I think it may also be the first time we managed to beat Benfica, although they had an awful season finishing in 4th place and nine points behind us. A good season as we followed up on last seasons 3rd place with another. We finally managed to win our first major trophy as we took home the League Cup beating Sporting 2-1 in the final. We bottled the Portuguese Cup; we had a great chance of winning that having drawn Academico de Viseu in the semifinal, but we ended losing on away goals. Considering it is a Chaves vs Viseu final I would have fancied my chances, but alas not to be. We found the Champions League really tough and only got one win in the League Phase. We did get a draw at home to Manchester United which was very creditable, but we also got some batterings along the way such 6-1 to AC Milan, 6-1 to Tottenham and 4-1 to PSG. Still the money from the competition was very helpful and we will be back next year. YOUTH TEAMS A Fourth League title for the Under 19s in a row and they did very easily. We qualified for the UEFA Youth League this year and did very well, getting all the wat to the semi final before losing narrowly to Rennes. The Under 23s need some work, we didn’t make the Championship Round and were poor, but we did better in the Qualifying Round. Also, I have now decided to select the teams for the U23s and U19s. This was decided when we lost the U23 manager and I thought well I am getting annoyed that he sometimes doesn’t do what I want him to, so why don’t I do it. We threatened to make a challenge for the playoff spot but were never consistent enough to really push for it. Expect us to be stronger next season with more squad depth. Squad by Appearances We pretty much used the same XI all season bar injuries, but we didnt really have many options. Managed to get some game time to the youth candidates that came through at the end of the season and expect them to play a much bigger part next year. Top Player - Jevgeni Bodrin: Our best player and still relatively young, very efficient down the left for us. Spoiler Youth Players As expected mostly 5 star potential which is very questionable at this level. A couple of good personalities but mostly not great unfortunately. Alari Luik and Pavel Ivanov walk into the first team. Spoiler Infrastructure A first improvement, the board rejected everything else I asked for, presumably because our finances were not great. A little concerned about this, $50k is a lot of money for us and I think this just means having 268 seats instead of the 300 standing spaces we had, so not sure how this will be very beneficial to us. Finances Positive because of the stadium grant and next year's sponsorship, but expect us to go into debt this season. We lost to Rio Ave and that essentially put us out without playing the final match as they beat Estoril. So we fielded a weakened side for the final game and could only get a draw The Portuguese Cup saw us reach the semi final stage, but we lose on away goals to FC Porto. In the Champions League we found it tough again, but managed to drag our way into a Playoff spot. We would face Red Bull Salzburg in the next round and managed to beat them before Liverpool proved too much for us in the Last 16. YOUTH TEAMS The U19s, won every single game and retained the National Championship The U23s, did better getting to the Championship round but that’s about as far as they got. Our issues last year were letting goals in so over the summer I had a tactical rethink and went from my usual 433 to a 4231 with 2 DM's sitting in front of the back to offer some extra protection. We opened the season with a 5-1 win and I thought we had cracked but in out next 5 games we lost 4-1, 5-2 and 6-1 and I quickly went back to what I know! I figured this would be a tough season with our players getting older and our young players not being ready yet and so it proved. We continued to ship goals but we also scored goals, it meant we were good enough to beat the bottom sides and keep a double digit points between us and the relegation zone but the top sides battered us. As a result I basically just speed ran through this season waiting for the youth intake but in the new year we started to play well and win games and keep clean sheets and somehow found ourselves on the edge of the playoffs. Dropped points against the sides directly above us killed the fait hopes of playoffs so for the final few games I just played the kids really and as a result we ended a very respectable 10th spot. Fact we scored 83 goals and still ended with a minus goal difference tells the story as to where our issues still lie. In the cups there was nothing to write home about as we lost in the first round in both. In the FA Cup Maidstone from our league beat us and in the FA Trophy Kiddierminster from league below beat us. Youth Intake The preview looked good and the result was pretty good. I don't think the players are as good as my coaches think but there are some good players here. My focus on youth recruitment seems to be paying off and we're not 2.5* which is good recruitment and think it'll pay off even more next season Career Overview Season League Position Junior Coaching Youth Recruitment Notes 2024/25 NVLN 2nd Fairly Basic Average Promoted via the playoffs 2025/26 VNL 11th Average Above Average Finally got first coaching badge 2026/27 VNL 10th Adequate Good Still only 1 coaching badge As you can probably tell I really did fly through this season but think next season will be a real struggle. A couple of the young players have stepped up this season which has added some nice depth but my senior players are struggling a bit now as they're really not for this level. In some good news though, the original star boy McStravick whose contract was up last summer is still here because he just stuck around on a non contract deal. Luckily we'd drawn more than we'd lost so we weren't completely cut adrift at that point but it was still worrying. We then went on a run of 7 victories in 12 games to put us mid-table and within touching distance of survival. So obviously we went on a 6 game run without a win to finish the season and find ourselves in the relegation play-off One thing I really like about Belgium is the end of season mini-leagues. the top six go into a championship play-off, middle six into a pointless play-off and the bottom four into a relegation play-off. We keep all our points, play each team twice more, and the bottom two get relegated. second place go into a play-off against a team from the division below whilst the top team stay up. We were favourites to stay up with our 4 point advantage, and after we beat STVV in the first game that became 7 points. in the end we won 3, drew 2 and lost 1 to stay up quite easily. S Players Top Scorer: Leandro de Pauw 26C (21 goals in 38 games) A much better second season from our top striker. He's settled into the top division nicely, seems settled and happy. what could go wrong? Player of the Season: Adam Vandenheede 30C (7.18 in 34 games) Still only 18 and now winner of two player of the season awards. Scored 20 goals this season too. With 18 months left on his contract he also let me know that he'll be considering his options when it expires which leaves me with two choices. Keep him and risk losing him on a free or sell him for peanuts but with a 50% sell on. I have a couple of good youths waiting for a first team chance so it will probably be the second. Youth Another nice preview and intake! Weird thing is, I've lost the star rating for the preview and intake and I don't know where it's gone! best looking prospect is this fella:- Bit of work to do but really nice starting physicals, apart from the fact he looks like he's pull a muscle picking up a box of cornflakes Finances So, not too bad. Another couple of prospects sold and another couple of future transfer clauses too. Our best keeper prospect went to Porto which was upsetting but you got to play the long game in Belgium. Best thing is the board agreed to another couple of improvements. We do still have those two massive loans still to pay off but we should be moving into our new stadium for next season. So, we were hammered, and I’m not sure we even made any money from the competition, but it was good for morale. For much of the season we were in contention to win the league though never actually in top spot. We fell off a bit at the end, but made it into the playoffs where we were doing well until we had a different backup left back sent off 3-2 up on aggregate in the second leg, and like the League Cup final, were then hammered. Another season or two to develop in League 1 won’t do any harm, but at some point I am going to need money to develop the facilities. Nobody is after my players and cup runs and playoffs don’t move the needle. Youth Intake I offered contracts to all but the worst 3. I have way too many players now, but I’m paying them peanuts and I can usually send them on loan to some team way below us on the pyramid. Þorsteinn Kristjánsson 26a is a goalie. He looks quite decent and will be my substitute next season, but with no Reserve or U19 team he won’t get any matches unless my start is injured. None of my 5 tagged players seem to have a route to relevance, mostly because I don’t use their natural positions. Still, you never know. Squad With everybody fit, there are now 5 youth intakees in the first XI, with 4 on the bench. Top Goalscorer – Kristófer Máni Atlason – 24 I have 2 good strikers, and when they were both fit, we were doing fairly well, but then last year’s top scorer, Björn Axel Guðjónsson broke his ankle and was out for most of the season. Otherwise we may well have had a good chance at the league. Highest Average Rating (minimum 10 matches played) – Björn Axel Guðjónsson – 7.54 He was doing well until his broken ankle. Man of The Match – Kristófer Máni Atlason - 4 Most Valuable Player– Kristófer Máni Atlason If both my main strikers had been injured, things would have gone south. We had an outside chance to make it the last day of the season with a win, but we drew and the other ties didn't go our way either. So while we finished a place lower than Season 2 we had 4 more points than last year. The Team of the Year is also starting to show a few younger players as well. Pinkard, White, Crichlow, Huws, Mahama, and Spencer are all youngsters that came in during the first 2 seasons. The youth intake this year also didn't have anyone over 2 stars, but also the overall quality of the squad has increased. Groves in particular looks useful so far in the Season 4 preseason. GK has also been the weakest area of our team for sure, but the lad we brought in this year looks to have some potential. And even if he doesn't develop to his full potential he is still almost as good as our current fellow, and he's 6'4" at 15 years old. The setup is improving nicely as well. We've also had our first couple of youngster sales. Quitongo forced his way out and I wasn't able to get anything other than the cash for him. However, the Huws deal came along with 50% of next sale (his value jumped to $800k-$1.8m! when he joined Stoke), and they agreed to a friendly next summer so even if his value drops we'll get a good gate from that fixture. Sommerville came in with a high star rating and decent potential, but didn't play very well so we offloaded him as well for a small fee and 25% of his next sale (although his value didn't increase too too much). One final note is that the Season 4 preview has us outside of the relegation zone for the first time in the save! Progress? karax268 Posted February 13 Share Posted February 13 Çankaya Futbol Kulübü Season review 2038/2039 On the field Europe Second time in Europe, and this time we wanted to get to actual european football by reaching the league stage. We had no real problems in the playoffs. In the first leg against Austria Lustenau we got a early lead and I felt comfortable subbing in some young talent. that was a mistake, and they came back to win it. The second leg at home we made no such mistake and we were in the Europa league proper. We had some tough matches against premier league teams, but in the end qualified easily for the KO playoff We had a tough opponent in Sporting in the playyoff round but two solid 2-1 vicotries saw us through to the round of 16. There we faced Galatasaray. We won 3-2 at home, lost 3-2 away and then went on to concede in extra time. A dissapointin end but round of 16 in our first Europa league campaign is not bad at all. Ziraat Türkiye Kupası We got to the final for the second time in our history. For the second time we faced Fenerbahçe and for the second time we lost. The route to the final was not easy as we faced only top tier teams and had to face all of the big three clubs. Spor Toto Süper Lig Fixtures 1 | Fixtures 2 Our first real title push. A loss for us on the final day makes it look a lot more comfortable for Beşiktaş than it actually was. We pushed them the entire season but in the end the fixture load and title pressure bacame to much for my young squad. Only 3 losses the enitre year but 10 draws is what did us in. U19s Another title for our youngsters. Squad Player of the season: Hakan 7.2 avg. 9 goals, 9 assists. Constant thread on the wings Topscorer: Mürsel Karataş. 18 goals for the young striker. He also takes the young player of the year award 2 on the list this year. Youth intake Decent intake, not spectacular. these are the ones where our hope lies: Board Finances | Transfers Umran Bas is the only significant transfer. A defender we couldn't really lose but he forced his way out. Defense is our weakest part of the squad. The finances are still healthy, After asking for it for years, we finally got another upgrade to the youth Facilities. Next season We have Champions league football next year. I hope we can build on this year and challenge again for the title. J.League Cup: We beat Thespakusatsu Gunma, Ventferet Kofu, and Mito HollyHock before we lost to Kyoto Sanga in the quarter final. We started the league in absolutely blistering form and we got a ten point lead in the league, however in time Benfica would drag us back, and it went down to the final day, they had an easy game at home and we went away to relegation threatened Farense. We were leading 1-0 but with two minutes to go Farense equalised and by this time Benfica were already 4-0 up. It looked like we were going to lose out on the title on the final day, but we get a penalty with seconds remaining in stoppage time and Ismael Toure with ice in his veins puts the spot kick away to give us our maiden league title and give us our “Aguero moment”. In the League Cup it ended abruptly at the semi final stage as Benfica took us apart 5-0. In the Portuguese Cup it ended at the 6th Round stage as we lost to Porto 3-1. In the Champions League, it was tough going but we did well enough to make it to the Knockout Round. Unfortunately, we had a tough draw against Arsenal and lost 3-2 at home and 4-1 away to end our European journey there. YOUTH TEAMS The Under 19s won the league without losing and would lose in the final of the UEFA Youth League on penalties to PSG The U23s won a league and cup double. Our issues last year were letting goals in so over the summer I had a tactical rethink and went from my usual 433 to a 4231 with 2 DM's sitting in front of the back to offer some extra protection. We opened the season with a 5-1 win and I thought we had cracked but in out next 5 games we lost 4-1, 5-2 and 6-1 and I quickly went back to what I know! I figured this would be a tough season with our players getting older and our young players not being ready yet and so it proved. As a result I basically just speed ran through this season waiting for the youth intake but in the new year we started to play well and win games and keep clean sheets and somehow found ourselves on the edge of the playoffs. Dropped points against the sides directly above us killed the fait hopes of playoffs so for the final few games I just played the kids really and as a result we ended a very respectable 10th spot. Fact we scored 83 goals and still ended with a minus goal difference tells the story as to where our issues still lie. In the cups there was nothing to write home about as we lost in the first round in both. In the FA Cup Maidstone from our league beat us and in the FA Trophy Kiddierminster from league below beat us. Youth Intake The preview looked good and the result was pretty good. I don't think the players are as good as my coaches think but there are some good players here. A couple of the young players have stepped up this season which has added some nice depth but my senior players are struggling a bit now as they're really not for this level. In some good news though, the original star boy McStravick whose contract was up last summer is still here because he just stuck around on a non contract deal. Again I spent all season trying to get him to sign a new deal but he still says we're not good enough for him but I'll keep him around till either he leaves or we get better. So when shutting down after posting this on Sunday while watching the super bowl I didn't save the game and didn't have auto save on which meant I lost like 6 months of this save including the youth intake. I didn't even realise till I went to load it up last night and saw I was in December. I spent all of yesterday evening just annoyed at myself. Let this be a lesson - MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AUTO SAVE ON! I usually do but must have had it turned off. I dunno what to do now. I can't face redoing a half a season. Last year’s title win didn’t seem sustainable at the time and this season we were far more inconsistent, winning against some sides that I considered better than us and losing to relegation scrappers. In the end we were still in with a shout of the title towards the end of the season especially after beating Benfica 1-0 but we drew to Porto and lost to Chaves to make sure that wasn’t going to happen. At least we qualified for Champions League football. In the League Cup we got to the semi finals and were beaten by Porto on penalties in the Fifth Round. In the Portuguese Cup we lost to Porto in the 5th Round In the Champions League we really struggled but a final League phase win at Anfield out of nowhere gave us our Knockout Round place. In the next round we would be drawn against Liverpool, having beaten them in the League phase I had some hope and a 3-2 win at home gave us the advantage but they turned the tie round late on at Anfield winning 3-1 and knocking us out. YOUTH TEAMS The U19s won the league again quite easily but only made it to the Knockout Rounds of the UEFA Youth League losing to Arsenal. Europe After a 7-1 loss to Man Utd in the opening game we did well to recover and qualify for last 16, but I’m still fuming about our exit to Leeds in the quarter final. We completely bossed the home leg but only won 1-0, then were 1-1 until the last minutes of the away leg only to concede a last-ditch (aggregate) equaliser and lose in extra time. Players Our attack is getting very impressive - another amazing season from Tom Thomas 07a (AML/ST) who’s having his best years towards the end of his career (28 goals and 8 assists this year), Andy Morton 17a (AMRLC) is our best player on paper, and we got another good young attacker in Jake MacGregor 16c (AMR/ST). The less said about the defence the better, however. Youth intake (preview) Terrible PA this year but we got some ok CA and some decent personalities so maybe some of these will make it. We started a bit lukewarm both in the league and in other competitions, but eventually things started going well and this time around we had a pretty settled team for the majority of the season without major holes in it. We extended a bit of lead over Benfica, but it was never more than five or so points as they matched us. In the January window we lost our star keeper Torcato to Bayern Munich, and that left us in a real pickle, with our second choice leaving, we could play him or we could take a punt on youngster with potential and its what we did and he performed admirably, as we kept going. We could have won the league on the penultimate fixture away to lowly Feirense, but lost, and it went to the final day where we would get the job done without any histrionics required. We were poor in the League Cup and didn’t make it out of the group. In the Portuguese Cup we were equally poor as we lost to Familicao in the Fourth Round. The Champions League was shambolic as we lost to Anderlecht in the third qualifying stage, this after getting a draw away we managed to lose at home, but this would send us to the Europa League. We were very good in the group stages and to be honest we had no problems all the way to the final. We beat the likes of Villarreal handsomely, battered Dinamo Zagreb, disposed of Bayer Leverkusen easily to set up a Final against Liverpool in Munich. We were very much under the cosh for the whole match, but we managed to hit them on the counter successfully and we came away 2-1 winners to win our first piece of silverware in Europe. YOUTH TEAMS For the first time in seven year the U19s did not defend the league title and Mafra beat them to the title. We actually lost to them on the penultimate fixture to basically give them the advantage and they took it. The U23s got to the Championship Round but did not win the league but did end up winning the Taca Revolucao that happens just after the league season with the top performing clubs. Easily avoided the relegation group. Only negative was when we got to the silly second phase we were a bit rubbish and only won twice. In all, two victories in the last fourteen games is making me a little nervous for next season Players Top Scorer: Leandro de Pauw 26C (20 goals in 37 games) Player of the Season: Leandro de Pauw 26C (7.23 rating from 37 games) Officially our most valuable player. Now 24, coming to the limit of his potential, he's perfectly balanced between being a good Pro Jupiler player, but not good enough to attract any attention from abroad. Perfect player for a Belgian save! Wonderkids Adam Vandenheede 30C - I tried to sell him in the offseason as he was considering his options, agreed a deal for 250k with Mechelen but he rejected their terms. So I figured I'd keep him another season, massage his ego a lot, and hope he wants to sign with us at the end of his contract. I'm glad he did because:- Technically not a wonderkid yet but my first appearance, and winner, of the NXGN list. Nice! Also appearing on the list, at number 27, was Axl Thil 30A - no 19, still at Nice, and capped 3 times by the Belgian national side. I am still livid at my board for selling him frorm under my nose for a measly 61k Youth I've still lost the star rating you get for youth previews and intakes. No idea where it's gone! I'd give them both 5* though - maxxing out youth recruitment is a magical thing in Belgium! five elite talents is pretty, pretty good! best two, once I'd signed them, were these two. Look at those values already! very excited about these two! I have a full squad in both U21 and U18 now and the wage bill has crept right up so we're going to need a clearout this summer I think. Finances Not great tbh. But also, could be a lot worse considering where we are. But no improvements look likely in the near future. I will start however with the league, this year we just seemed far more assured than any other season. For quite a few years we have been challenging for the title, but it’s always a win on the final day or trialling Benfica or Porto by a few points, this time for the first time we led early on and it never looked like we would through it away. We won the league with a couple of games to go and could rest players for the other competitions. The League Cup wasn’t great but we were a bit unlucky. We won one and drew one, but that wasn’t enough to get through due to goal difference so we went out in the Group Stage. We would win the Portuguese Cup beating Benfica in the final 4-1 The Champions League is the main talking point though. Prior to this season I had no confidence, but this season my confidence was growing as the performances started looking dominant. We started off with a 3-0 win over Ajax, and beat Maribor 9-3, we beat Nice 5-1 away. In the end we qualified as one of the best 8 qualifiers only losing twice in the League Phase once to Newcastle and Inter Milan. In the Last 16, I was troubled when I saw that we got Man City, and expected to exit the competition, but we were brilliant winning 2-1 in Manchester and getting a drawing goal in extra time after losing 3-2 at home. RB Leipzig were next in the Quarter Final and we dealt with them easily 4-1 on aggregate. The semi final saw us up against Bayern Munich and we had to face adversity as we lost 3-2 away in the first leg but came roaring back at home 4-1 to book a place in the final against Chelsea in Munich. The final was actually a pretty simple game, the stats will say they had the better of the chances, but I didn’t feel under threat the whole game, we would win it 2-0 with goals from Mussa Djalo a striker we have had for years and years and Andy Zuke a full back who has just made the first team last season. A treble to complete the journey. PS: We lost the UEFA Super Cup to Arsenal 3-2 and won the Euro/SAM Trophy 3-2 against Botafogo. CHALLENGE COMPLETE YOUTH TEAMS The U19s returned to winning the league this season and got as far as the semi finals of the UEFA Youth League before losing to Copenhagen U18s. We smashed our record in the league, securing a second-place finish in the regular phase, trailing the leader and reigning champions, PAOK, by just 5 points. Our team embarked on an impressive streak of 15 unbeaten games, clinching notable victories against Olympiacos and PAOK. However, our triumphs were marred by a disappointing end of season, as we stumbled in the crucial matches, losing all four of the last games. This not only dashed our hopes of claiming the title, which had been within reach by just one point, but also shattered our dream of securing a historic Champions League qualification, as we finished 8 points behind the leader and 6 behind AEK in the championship group. In the cup, we triumphed over our affiliated club AS Anagennisi Karditsas from the second tier, only to be defeated by PAOK in the quarter-finals. Olympiacos emerged victorious in the competition. Despite finishing 3rd in the league, we'll have to play Europa League qualifiers next season. Our European campaign, however, was a source of pride. Although we suffered a disappointing elimination in the Europa League playoff against Rakow, whom we had previously defeated two years ago in the UECL qualifiers, we demonstrated resilience in the Conference League. We won 4 out of 6 group stage games, including a remarkable 10-1 victory. Advancing through the elimination rounds, we secured wins against Lens and Valencia before succumbing, once again, to Brighton in the semi-finals, echoing our fate from two years ago. It seems we have a knack for being eliminated by eventual competition winners, as this marks our third participation in European competitions, having been previously ousted by Brighton (UECL winners in 2036 and 2039) and Nice (winners in 2037). Christos Omiridis continued to shine as our top goalscorer, while Gersi Kuqi proved to be our most consistent player, boasting an impressive average rating of 7.27. Alexandros Toungelidis was honored with the Greek Player of the Year award in the Super League, and Vasilis Kyrialanis was recognized as Goalkeeper of the Year. Both players secured a spot in the league's XI of the Year. For the second time, I was honored with the Manager of the Year award, coinciding with an offer to take on the role of Belgium manager. The major transfer of the year involved our prodigy Efthymis Christou. Despite being the winner of the Golden Boy award and runner-up for the Kopa Trophy, Christou opted not to renew his contract, which was set to expire at the end of the season. Faced with the prospect of losing him for free, we reluctantly sold him to Benfica for 5 million euros during the winter transfer window. Remarkably, he leaves behind a legacy of 88 league appearances and 26 goals for Kavala. Sdp9511 Posted February 14 Share Posted February 14 End of Season Review Season 2028/29 Le Puy Season Summary- We got lucky this season. We overperformed the xg table massively (we were supposed to finish 15th with 40 points. Instead, we got into the promotion play-off positions (3rd) with 61 points. We missed out on winning the league, by losing our final 2 games against the other top 2 teams. In the promotion play-off, we drew twice, but we went through on away goals. Lastly we somehow also got into the quarter-finals of the French Cup after defeating 2 Ligue 1 teams. We ended up losing to Lille 3-1. Hopefully, we haven't wasted all our luck in one season as we are going to need it next season to stay up. Season Details Transfers Out- We lost our starting goalkeeper on a free as he refused a new contract Youth Candidates- this was a quite bad youth intake, but there is a bit of hope that a few of them can become part of our set-up in the future. The fact we got two center-backs is good as our starting center-backs are starting to become old. Noureddine Bounou is the better of the 2 center-backs, he needs to get a lot quicker and better defensively as soon as possible. Key Players Jules Meyer - He got an injury mid-way through to the season, which led to a massive decrease in our form. He is now a Le Puy Icon after winning the Player of the Season yet again. He scored 11 goals and assisted 12 times in 30 games. Ousmane Tine 3A - He was our most productive winger this season, with 13 goals and 13 assists in all competitions. He has now claimed the starting position down the left wing. Ended up being our YPOY Andreas Kruger 3B- Our starting striker, who scored 16 goals and assisted 5 times. He is also the only player with a senior cap and goal for his country Goran Grahovac 2A- Had another strong season as our dlp, has kept on growing quite a lot. After I got him tries tricks, and beats man repeatedly, and uses outside of the foot, some games he was unplayable but he could be a bit inconsistent at times. You can see his physicals, technique and flair are pretty great My top goalscorer I think is pretty decent, not elite, but he just gets goals, quick and clinical finisher. 194 goals in 347 ain't bad. The main issue we had was that our youth intake rarely gave us out and out strikers so we had to keep converting wingers. He was the first one we converted. This guy is pretty new to the team, been in just 2 or 3 seasons but he is a beat. 1.97m tall, great jumping reach and heading, gets goals from set pieces and very solid. Has this guy for ages, absolutely love him, he is out Xavi, amazing vision, works hard, always makes the right pass, great touch. Gave him killer balls and dictates tempo and he can run games for us. Wants to leave now after the Champions League win. Another guy we got early and built up and just became a superb servant. Joubert came a little after Leite. He is almost as good as him, maybe slightly less good, but a great player. Can fill in a left back, which was a problem for us for a little while. Kevin Semedo, pretty new guy. decent physicals. Great concentration, tackling and tecnique, good at centre back and defensive midfield, wins most things in the air. Still has a lot of growth to go. Really like him and he was instrumental in the Champions League. The newest main addition to the first team. Just came in last season at the end of the season. I think he will end up a monster at full back. This guy sat behind the striker, again high flair, high technique, high vision player, that can set them up but can finish. He again has been a real good player for us for many years. This was he one that got away, which actually I thought would cost us dearly. We have had to play a bit of second rate keeper this season in goal, because we lost this guy last Jan to Bayern. He is the main keeper for Portugal. Just a brilliant brilliant keeper. His one issue was that he for some reason sometimes didn't turn up for training. But on the pitch turned into a monster keeper. I thought I would through Mussa in this little update as well. He is arguably the more prolific when compared to Toure. Was an actual striker that we got. He is not the best in the world, but he is really patchy. He is the kind of guy that can go 5 games without scoring and then scores three hat tricks in a row. Again a high flair, high technique, pretty quick, good finisher, with great dribbling. We were probably just the step below being a top side, and we probably overachieved but not by a massive amount I would say. The main thing was that this last season we had we could rest players a bit more, and had a better bench and second 11 and it let us throw all the top guns into the big Champions League games. Fat Controller Posted February 15 Share Posted February 15 Season Review 2027/28 (Season 4) NK Kustošija Zagreb Supersport HNL (Tier 1) League Our first season in the top flight that we had to juggle both domestic and continental football and we performed admirably. We don't have the squad depth to seriously compete at league level yet and although we won our first game of European football, 3 losses from 4 game shows us exactly how far we have to go before we can start to be taken seriously. Overall we finished 7th, with the extra matches taking it's toll on the thin squad. The beauty of the Croatian league is that apart from Dinamo Zagreb (who have won every title in the save) every other team have good and bad days meaning that there are usually places up for grabs from 3rd-8th with a month to go in the season. It keeps it interesting all the way through the year. No European football next year means hopefully we can focus on the league and get ourselves back into the top 5. Spoiler Europe Our first taste of European football and it couldn't have started any better. A 5-2 drubbing of FC Noah meant we were almost guaranteed of going through to the next round. We then lost the return leg 1-0 but were through on aggregate. The Third Round Qualifying saw us lose both legs to FC Honka to be knocked out of the competition. A decent first look, but not the huge money earner we were hoping for. Spoiler Awards Karlo Igor Majic won our Player of the year award with an average rating of 7.02 Adel Galonja 02A won our leading goalscorer award with 12 Mario Grlic 01A won our Young Player of the Year award with an average rating of 6.95 across 24 appearances Youth Intake A very promising looking Intake with 4 elite talents. And this is the chosen one! Siena is a "fallen" team, has a big history and has played in Serie A for many many times in the last decades. Siena is a very nice city in Tuscany, 50k resident, and great history. Now, for financial problems too, it's playing in the Eccellenza, and in my save has been promoted to serie D On the next post, i'll show my avatar and the first step into squad! Prior to this season I had no confidence, but this season my confidence was growing as the performances started looking dominant. We started off with a 3-0 win over Ajax, and beat Maribor 9-3, we beat Nice 5-1 away. In the end we qualified as one of the best 8 qualifiers only losing twice in the League Phase once to Newcastle and Inter Milan. In the Last 16, I was troubled when I saw that we got Man City, and expected to exit the competition, but we were brilliant winning 2-1 in Manchester and getting a drawing goal in extra time after losing 3-2 at home. RB Leipzig were next in the Quarter Final and we dealt with them easily 4-1 on aggregate. The semi final saw us up against Bayern Munich and we had to face adversity as we lost 3-2 away in the first leg but came roaring back at home 4-1 to book a place in the final against Chelsea in Munich. The final was actually a pretty simple game, the stats will say they had the better of the chances, but I didn’t feel under threat the whole game, we would win it 2-0 with goals from Mussa Djalo a striker we have had for years and years and Andy Zuke a full back who has just made the first team last season. A treble to complete the journey. PS: We lost the UEFA Super Cup to Arsenal 3-2 and won the Euro/SAM Trophy 3-2 against Botafogo. CHALLENGE COMPLETE YOUTH TEAMS The U19s returned to winning the league this season and got as far as the semi finals of the UEFA Youth League before losing to Copenhagen U18s. The U23s lost the final of the Taca Revelacao but won the Liga Revelacao LOCATIONS OF YOUTH INTAKE Final Map SUMMARY Nice one man, and pretty quick as well! Congrats! BustaRaymes Posted February 15 Share Posted February 15 FC Vaajakoski 2037 Finnish Premier League A great leap forward as we qualify for our first European adventure! Going pro was a major factor. We already had the talent, just not the training time. A few players have burst into the squad and went from interesting talents into full on star players within a season. Squad We started the season with Salmela in goal but he wasn't ready for that at all. Uusitalo came back into the squad doing really well and keeping his place for the rest of the season. We have defensive stars in Ojanperä and Ahonen, both being watched from the Serie A. In midfield, Granholm is starting to pull the strings as a playmaker and Filankembo keeps bombarding his opponents with his runs. Up front we have a (luxury) problem: Lähderinne is the better striker but Nikkanen scores whenever he's in the team. Transfers We actually received some money this year. Laitinen, Syrjä and Halonen left after years of good service. Youth intake Lehtonen seems to be the next great thing up front for us, with Lyyski a close second. Kähkonen is the goalkeeper we've been waiting for. Always read this thread and loved this challenge, closest I came was in Slovenia in FM21 where I took Dravograd to the semi-finals of the Champions League. Tough challenge in England and Needham Market will be no different, though there are a few key players and we have a squad of 16 or so. I think once you get good facilities and coaches, you can go either default position training or role training. I think that default position training and a focus gets you quicker improvements but more evenly spread and role training is slower but will probably get you very specialised players. I started the latter, then moved to the former and then back to the latter in the last two years in terms of development. Not sure there is anything in it at all but just my observation of it. Yeah keeper is such a major one, if you don't get one its such a weakness, every other position you can convert players, a centre back to full back. a centre back to defensive midfield, a winger to striker. You can convert anyone to keeper, at least not that im aware. In terms of the centre backs I spent ages without one that had good jumping reach and heading then I got three all around a three year period recently and it definitely helped. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
