expected really, unless your system was really pushed for free memory at 16GB increasing memory of the same speed isn't really going to make a difference.

Dunno, FM yoinks itself 11,5 GB, I thought it would take more if there was more scope for it. For instance, for the copious amount of extra graphics I use.

I haven't installed Steam/FM24 yet but since I have Apple Arcade, I'm playing FMT24. It is so fast!

That is weird. New M3 Max 36GB models has less memory speed (300GB/s) than 16" 48GB model (400GB/s). Maybe he had few other background tasks running during benchmark - time machine backup etc.

But overall I am happy. I had M1 Max studio and it could do 1-week progress in about 5 mins and with my new M3 Max 16" I can do it less than 3 mins (almost half sometimes), I can reach progress more in my limited game time.

This thread is super helpful so thank you @Brother Ben

To all of the Mac users who report high and very high for graphics levels:-

Does that include night matches when sky is black?

I have an M1 MacBook Pro 16” and I can run the game in very high settings and it runs super smooth if it’s a daytime match but as soon as the match is at night with black sky and floodlights on, I get lag and this lag remains even with settings turned down to high and even medium

Anybody else get the same?

I've changed it on the sreadsheet to 5.4 and i'll update the screenshots next time around.

For Intel I only take the base and high of the P cores.

This may change for FM25 etc moving forward

Sorry, I just saw this thread. I don't understand how to benchmark my PC. Should I compare my time holidaying the week with the others in order to see if my pc is low, mid or high end?

Yeah just do the benchmarks and write down your times in the format others have.

The main aim of the thread is to help people decide whether or not to upgrade their system based on comparing their own results to the others posted here.

It can also be a great diagnostic tool.  If your results are significantly lower to a similar setup on our list then you will know you may have an issue.

Your results will in turn help others as the more results we have the better it will be, either way your test results will be greatly appreciated.

Based on what I'm seeing, the game does not take full advantage of multiple cores. Am I mistaken?

If you don't have many countries/leagues enabled and the detail is turned down, per-core performance probably helps more. If you like all leagues enabled and crank up the detail level, more cores is more important. The game is nice that way, since you can tune the game performance to fit your hardware (or buy better gear to match your desired performance).

Going from 32gb to 64gb won't have much impact at all.  It is a CPU driven process that will mean a better CPU would make better performance.

The RAM capacity doesn't make any difference above about 16GB I believe, unless you are running a lot of other applications in the background while playing FM.

There have been good gains when increasing speed however, so I would focus more on the speed of the RAM than capacity if you were looking to upgrade.

As stated here, it is CPU intensive so the best gains would be by a CPU upgrade. The next gen of Ryzen are due to drop in July, so maybe keep an eye out for those if you are considering an upgrade.

Honestly, you should be looking to upgrade your motherboard. If you compare your score with others running a 7950X you are still 15 - 60 secs slower than others with the same CPU. The A620 chipset does not allow for PBO, which is hurting your very expensive CPU. It seems a weird choice to go for the top spec CPU and match it with the lowest spec motherboard, slow RAM, and a budget GPU. Is this primarily for FM judging by those specs?

I got bored so I knocked together some bar charts to show the CPU benchmarks.
Note: Where multiple tests were run using the same CPU, I used the average.

I have assembled the PC from various individual parts that I had left, and yes I use this PC only for the internet and FM. I think the time is still ok for it

I think it's time for a disclaimer after the recent Intel admission of running all their made CPUs for the last 4 years with way too much voltage. I have a safe raptor lake cpu, but we all know most bios vendors are just all guilty for running them with all these overclocked settings.

My 13900k just overclocked to 6.0 all core out of the box. But even for advanced users, Intel has gone over a line, and most people can't tinker their bios to undervolt them instead of running them with 15% less performance in Intel basic settings. I think a certain point has come here, where Intel has misled the people, and I'd just advise the new Zen 5 CPUs (99503D or 7800/79003D next month) first in the OP of @Brother Ben., and put a disclaimer up. The amount of CPUs I had to repair in the last year is idiotic.

Especially that FM is very very CPU heavy. If undervolting Intel was easy, like Ryzen, it could be 'fixed', at least temporarily.

And 7950x3d problems at launch were fixed, so if you want to mix some gaming performance with multicore usage, it's the best CPU after 7800x3d. But the current pricing is not so good (at least in europe, is around 520-550 euros). And because it's not a popular cpu, there's nothing in used market as well (7950x new is around 500 new and 420-450 used).

I'm just reading up on this as your post is the first time i've heard about it

The last computer I built myself was 12 Gen intel for my kids gaming setups and I use Mac myself so i'm a bit out of the loop.

I'll do a little research on it and i'll think of something appropriate to put in the OP.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention

Type: Desktop

Model: Custom

CPU Model: I9-13900KS

CPU Base Frequency:  4.40GHz

CPU Turbo Frequency: p core :6.00 GHz / e cores 4.3 ghz

RAM: 32GB

RAM Clockspeed: DDR5-6000

GPU: RTX 4090 24gb

Graphics Level in 3D:  very high

Storage Type: 2TB Samsung 990 PRO PCIe 4.0

Benchmark
 1: 31 Seconds

Benchmark 2: 1:04min

Benchmark 3: 2:46min

Benchmark 4: 8:10min

That being said, it is important to note that I have my CPU throttled at PL1 150Watts and PL2 200Watts. Simply because that's one way to combat Intel current instability problem until they get a Bios Update out for it. For those that don´t know the I9 13900KS can draw up to 340Watts constantly at full Power.

  • But that doesnt mean it would perform at a +100% its more like 15% - 25% more performance I would get out of it if I were to open the PL1 and PL2 all the way.

CPU Ryzen 9 7950X3D

CPU Base Frequency: 4.20 GHz

CPU Turbo Frequency: 5.7 GHz

RAM: 32GB

RAM Clockspeed: 8000Mhz

Benchmark 4 FM24: 6 minutes 40 seconds

Screenshots of overlay and time taken attached.

7950X3D CPPC (BIOS option that determines which CCD is prioritised initially) Set to Frequency, as FM24 runs faster with higher clock speed rather than primarily using the Cache CCD on dual X3D parts.

7950X3D tuned with 8000Mhz C34 memory, 2200FCLK, and 360 AIO using liquid metal.

I have a similar set up to you (14900k instead of 13900ks) and am now unable to run Benchmark 4.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what I can amend in settings to get that to run? Of course, may not be a CPU issue but it's a bit coincidental!

I am planning on buying a new PC next year as my current 7 year old Dino PC running Windows 10 is not supported by Windows 11 and was keen to know how my current experience compares to newer processors etc.

My Dino PC specs and results for FM24 benchmark tests are as follows:

OS: Windows 10 Home 22 H2

Type: Desktop

Model: Customised Dino PC

CPU: Intel

CPU Model: i7 7700

CPU Base Frequency: 3.6GHz

CPU Turbo Frequency: 4.2GHz

Cores: 4

Threads: 8

Launch Date: Q1'17

Ram: 16GB (2 x Crucial 8GB DDR4 2133MHz)

Ram Clockspeed: DDR4 2133MHz

GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 1050 Expedition OC 2GB GDDR5

Graphics Level in 3D: High

Benchmark 1 FM24: 01:09 (1 minute 9 seconds)

Benchmark 2 FM24: 04:03 (4 minutes 3 seconds)
