    Firstly just a quick happy new year to you all. I've really struggled with FM this year, I hardly touch it so as a result I'm not really about in this section of the forums much. I'm gonna try to check in way more often but if anyone does complete it while I'm not about then tag me to get my attention.

    Southgate took over an England side at a very low point, has brought through a lot of young players and has made them one of the most consistent national teams in the world in the past 5/6 years. People will moan but a semi final, a final and a quarter final in the past 3 tournaments is a level of consistency that England haven't seen in like 60 years. Yes he has his faults (what manager doesn't?) but he's done an excellent job and has England set up well for the coming years. Think the stick he gets is unfair and I'm no England fan.

    Love Messi and like a couple others in the squad so can live with the scumbags in the team also winning. Also for some reason France winning again feels a little boring even though back to back world cups is an insane achievement. Heart says Argentina but head says France.

    Best thing to do if this happens is to try and arrange the deal to go through at the end of the season, that's allowed but no we can't loan back.

    France doing exactly what they did against England, coasting after an early goal. I’ve no doubt that they have about 4 more gears than they can just click into, almost when they want.

    Still a player. Comes out, doesn't get the ball and takes the man out. At the other end you're calling for a pen 100% of the time

    It's a clear pen. Harsh on the keeper (and yellow is daft) but it's a foul. If you knock the ball past a player in the middle of the pitch and then run him to him it's given as a foul. I don't get the moaning here.

    This entire World cup I've tuned in about 5 minutes before kick off and watch youtube at HT so miss all the people talking about the game or in most cases talking about England

    All Argentina aren't we? Messi wins the world cup and we can't really have Gunman lording it for the next 4 years can we?

    He also turned down the Brentford job when we were in the championship (before we appointed Dean Smith) as he didn't want the scrutiny of being a "high profile manager" so can't see him fancying the England job if Brentford in the championship was too high profile for him

    I actually think you're more right than wrong. I don't think the football has been great but the drama has been insane and that's what people will remember.

    "best world cup" is a bit odd to say because the first halves of pretty much every game have been ****. The final 20 mins of every game since the final group games have just been proper mental though to balance it out
