    Slovenia looked alright second half. Pretty meh game overall. If we don't beat these both then I'm definitely not holding out much hope of winning the thing, unless we're talking a dour 0-0 with our reserves with 1st place basically confirmed or something.

    I'm not seeing anything that makes me think we can't beat either comfortably. Not to say we will and obviously both could beat us because football is just like that sometimes (before we even get into tactics or anything else) but yeah, both teams look fairly standard and no reason we can't beat them.

    I swear he gets hyped every tournament. He is talented and a handful but yeah, if he was as good as they way he's been talked about he'd have way more goals and Switzerland would be a much bigger threat

    Yeah the defensive issues are making me pretty pessimistic for this tournament.

    Given the amount of people saying they're not remotely excited, I feel like there's just loads of people who are so unbothered they've not even clicked on the Euro 2024 page yet. Hope we get some more soon but yeah, probably worth advertising it in a couple other threads so we can hopefully get some more in. Reckon at least a few more will hop on given it's going to charity.

    France have drawn 0-0 to Canada, managed by Jesse Marsch. More credence to the "don't read too much into pre tournament friendlies" notion.

    Absolutely agree. Definitely some warranted criticism of Southgate but a lot of those performances were incredibly mediocre. But I would say that there'll be elements of self preservation and not wanting to get injured before the tournament.

    You can see why Southgate really liked Rice/Phillips as a pair in the last Euros. Looked a lot more secure and it was so much more difficult to bypass. (No, this is not me suggesting Phillips should have been called up before anyone says, I'm not that insane ffs)

    Iceland have had two massive chances really. Not worth panicking about a friendly as the intensity and desperation just isn't there, but this really isn't good.
