  1. While I somewhat agree with that premise but let's be honest they don't even believe that because you can come to the forum every year and you will see most people complain about how the game is easy, how your CB can score 20 goals a season from corners is unrealistic or how bad teams just passing the ball around aimlessly is realistic and no one tells them "don't set up you corner routines right then or don't play with big teams or restrict yourself in the transfer market etc.". The truth is we all push for realism when it suits us and dismiss it when it doesn't suit us with the excuses of it's just a game so we don't have to do X or it's a single player game so I should be able to do whatever I want.
  2. The problem with that is you will have to figure out a way for the AI to adapt to whatever the human managers throws at it and I don't think they are anyway near there yet. I know nothing about game development however, my guess is that the reason why we still have structured formations is mainly to give the AI points of references so even if you give roles that change the movement a bit the AI still roughly knows where players will end up. If you look at asymmetric formations for example, the reason they can be very successful is because they break that structure for the AI because you will have players making movements and ending up in positions where they shouldn't really be. I would love a more fluid system if they could find a way to make it work but before they implement that I want them to give us a way to set up how we want to press, it still feels a bit random at the moment and the players don't do it as a unit if you go and watch any of the tactical videos on the coaches voice YouTube channel you will find out that we can't do most of what the managers talk about.
  3. I've not tried it for the youth team but if you set the DOF or whoever to initiate signings for the first team they often bid for young players that would go into your U19 anyway and you can always cancel the bids if you don't like the players or haven't scouted yet
  4. this is mostly due to how you setup your scouting. Most of those old players come from their agents not the scouts and you can turn that off or lower the age of the players you want recommended from the agents
  5. Iran is very underrated, they produce good young players that are cheap
  6. the last bit of the command is wrong "USBDrive(E)" isn't a path. What you need to do is open the folder where your graphics is then you need to right click on the box where it says "this pc" then click on copy address. That is the path you need to paste in the command. It would probably work better if you move the entire sports interactive folder from documents to your USB drive. @jlammi this should solve your issue as well
  7. Transfers is one part of the game I don't enjoy as much and the reason I play FM is for the tactical aspect so I would rather leave transfers to the AI. However, if you have ever done this you know that they make some questionable transfers like maybe signing when you don't need one or selling players and not replacing them. My big idea to improve this is when we go into the squad planner for the first time, there should be a pop up menu to ask the player how many players we want per position and we should be given the option of 2 players per position to 4 players or maybe 5: 2 players per position = 1 first team player and 1 squad player (the age of the players doesn't matter, just their quality) 3 players per position = 1 firs team player, 1 squad player and 1 young player (young players will have to be 19 and under) 4 players per position = 1 firs team player, 1 squad player and 2 young player Once we have picked how many players per position we want, we will then have to fill the spots with the players they have at the club so for example if I have picked 4 players per position and there are spots missing my DOF can then go and look for players to fill in those spots or if he decides to sell a first team player, he has to sign another first team player to replace him. The first team player, squad player and young player in the squad planner will have nothing to do with the squad status you give to a player in his contract, it's just a way of arranging your team for you The system should generally work the way I described above but it doesn't necessarily have to be that straight forward so it's not too predictable for example if the DOF sold the first team GK he would try to sign a new one but there is no guarantee that he would be able to do that because we might not have enough money to attract another GK of similar quality or the GKs he go for will all go to other teams for whatever reason and I will have to go into the season without a first team GK and come January that could become a priority for him. Another scenario is if the scouts find a young player that is better than what we have at the club an email can come in from the DOF saying that he is going to try and sign that young player and loan out the player we have at the club. I think this will be a better way to make use of the DOF and stop the cray things the AI do when you leave transfers to them and of course we could still use other tools that are already in the game like suggesting him players to sign or sell etc.
  8. you need to put this in launch option --user_data_location="path" replace the word "path" with the location where you want to store your graphics.
  9. It's also frustrating when the players leave the ball to go out for a throw-in wh n they're in a good position to keep it in a put in a good cross or even recycle the ball to keep the opposition under pressure
  10. Im not suggesting they do that at all I was asking because it’s easy for us as consumers to say what we want without thinking about the logistics. If for whatever reason they decide to shorten their development cycle by 3 months then they would have had to make some compromises
  11. what compromises will you be willing to accept if for example they decided to release FM24 3 months earlier than usual?
  12. I don't think so because in a recent interview Miles was asked a similar question and he said the beauty of football manager is that you don't know the future of the players from the day you start your save so he doesn't think it would be fin to do what you asked because we already know where those players ended up. That's basically a brief summary of what he said
  13. go to the staff responsibility page and tick the box to enable training emails
  14. But I’m not managing a U8 team. I remember the first football game I played around that age. I was a center back but I was running all over the pitch and it’s no surprise we lost the game 10-0( thankfully it was a friendly) but by the second game I already learnt my position and what I was supposed to do and we went unbeaten in the tournament. The players I’m managing are semi pro players so they should know not to do that
  15. That's part of it. I think the main reason is because the AI won't be able to cope with what us players can be able to come up with. We are somewhat restricted now and they still can't cope with some of the tactic that people create. I also have to give credit to SI because tactically both the AI and player have the same tools, it just comes down to how well you manage them and how well you built your team. In other games difficulty level is achieved artificially by handicapping the player in favour of the AI
  16. In some leagues reserve or even youth coaches can help with first team coaching. Something else I will do is when looking to sign a goalkeeping or fitness coach I sign them as a normal coach that way they can also help with the workload
  17. I made a similar point to what @lied90 I can have defenders with 20 for anticipation, positioning, concentration. decision etc but if their pace isn't comparable to that of the striker they are going against, the striker always seems to have the advantage which is far from realistic and the example I used was Chiellini and Bonucci during the euros; as slow as they are with the high line the team was playing the only time I saw one of them caught off guard was the famous incident between Saka and Chiellini. I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. Are we supposed to use a specific tactical system for a specific team?
  18. I would agree with this if it happened once in a while but the gif above is from the next game and you can see the same on the left but it didn't result in an opportunity for the AI in this one. I agree with this and I've not really played FM23 that much this year. I think I've played only 4 seasons in total including the beta period
  19. The team you need to pay attention to is the red team and the player you need to pay attention to is the right back no 3. My question is why on earth would he leave his position to move to the centre of the pitch to challenge for a header when he has a player to keep an eye on and more importantly I have 2 centrebacks there against the 1 striker? obviously we concede a goal because the player he left free got the ball and played the pass forward which led to a goal. You see things like this a lot in FM, for example when playing with 3 at the back and the middle defender you have on cover decides its a good idea to step up to the DM position to win a ball when you have a DM already there or when you right centre back decides to go to the left to win a ball when you already have your left centre back in a good position to deal with the ball,
  20. They are not legally allowed to sell old games once a new one is out
  21. I still think the best way of scouting the opposition is watching highlight of their games and taking note of repeating patterns. Your even need to watch full highlights, just by watching the highlight of the goals they score you will start seeing patterns very quickly
  22. I’ve not played a full save on the steam deck but I’ve played around a bit with it and because it’s the full game, there are a lot of buttons to click and that could become annoying using the default controls so I mapped the right touch pad to act like a mouse when I touch it and clicking it simulates the left mouse button. I also mapped spacebar to one of the X,Y,A,B buttons and one of the triggers as the right mouse button. In terms of how long it takes to go from day to day because it’s the full game it’s always going to be slower that the touch version but it’s not slow on the steam deck
  23. If I didn’t have the steam deck I would have considered the Ally but after using the touchpad on the Deck I don’t know if I would be able to live without it so I will be waiting for the Steam Deck 2.0
