  1. I am in Vanarama South. Noticed the same I stretched the game wider and attacked the FB on both sides with in-cutting widemen and WB. I added focus play on wings and overlap for slightly longer play out there and to expose their FB even more. Added an AMC(A) in the middle and boom. Worked. with two DM (DM(D) and DLP(S) we still had four players defending.
  2. Regarding longballs, I have one of the CB on cover, reduced it a lot how would you address a 433 DM with a 4231DM? A lot of teams play either 442 or 433 against us
  3. Great work @Vlach I always have much respect for people who can perform in this league from the beginning. "BELIEVE" We're 5th in February and seem unstoppable. There's a new coach for the U18s .. could not resist. The legend is back
  4. With junior coaching improved I hope on better players as well. But at the moment it’s quiet good maybe there’s something to tell end of season. It’s January now and we’re in the race
  5. Oh my god! That’s a player everyone is dreaming about.
  6. I‘d say it depends on the opponents roles or you put your DM in MC. It depends also a lot on how you wish to play. I sit very deep with my 4231 and invite pressure after we win the ball back we try and attack the space behind, we play possession in the back and faster attacks in the front. A 442 could be outplayed in front and behind the two MC so maybe a DLP pulls out one of the MC and the AMC behind the other one, it could work very well. Also you have incutting wideplayers on support or a DLF dropping off to cause all kinds of trouble. And you still have a spare DM who could be put on a supporting and challenging role like BWM to break opponents play. There are a lot of possibilities
  7. Me neither but I improved a lot recently we’ll influenced by the stuff discussed here. Yes Kane up front and Son from the side I believe that’s how I understood it from @Johnny Ace
  8. With Ajax you could really try and recreate movements from the bigger clubs. Like what is described in the total football thread by @crusadertsar to add some spice. Or with Lucca you could also recreate the Son - Kane partnership which is described here earlier on.
  9. The AP(A) + W(S) combination is good, with Ajax you should play decent football with that tactic. Maybe you‘ll need to tweak a bit to address all those deep sitting teams against you in Eredivisie. Lucca could easily be a DLF(A)
  10. @Cultured Left Foot thanks for the Tipp. It feels encouraging to finally get out of the swamp. @aldojags feels good to know I‘m not the only one. Phew. Very encouraging. @fries hope you‘ll do better with Ricay. Your team is completely different, no familiar names though. Thanks for dropping some tactical hints. @Johnny Ace let’s stay as positive as possible. We‘re not that bad at it We're getting better @Johnny Ace 150-1 that's me 2000-1 that's awesome My team has never been that bad. 500-1 was the baddest I believe I am overwhelmed this can't be true the first one in 16 years ...
  11. @Johnny Ace Great Job keeping your guys out of a relegation battle consider the long sidelines of your players. That striker looks awesome here at Ricay the season began really tough. Don‘t know why but we have penalties against us in every single game. We dominated every single game but got spanked almost every game and fight relegation now. It’s frustrating at times.
  12. If you had a superb IF(S) and he‘s your best player, two other talented incutting wingers a capable striker (strong finishing and an eye for a pass) and a mobile AMC how would you chose the roles upfront? Or same question differently posed: How to create a simple but effective movement pattern with the four up front?
  13. Thanks! And thanks for all the help with that. I’ve got the same feeling and some good guys coming through … especially in Defense.
  14. "It's season 16, really? We're still here?" Earl of Grey Season 16 - 38/39 The Under 18s won the title again, of course. The senior team failed to reach Play Offs again, of course. It's a barrier we can't climb yet. Rhys Platt the legend will leave Ricay Town for a ne challenge and he did so giving us again 23 goals. "Hooray, hooray, hooray" Rhys Platt you're a true legend, you will always have a place at our fire and in our hearts. Thank you for 16 years of service. Thank you for 535 apps and 293 goals. Regarding stats, we played again wonderful football at times and managed to come close as 3 points to the Play Off Spots and then a spell was cast over us and we failed to win anything. We produced 2 penalties per game and hit everything but the goal. We hit the goal but only the woodwork of it. In the end a successful campaign got a taste of unfulfillment of dissatisfaction. Avrg. Possession: 3rd Non Pen. xG/ 90: 3rd Pass completion Ratio: 3rd Shots on target: 6th Final Third Passes for: 5th We do a lot of thing right especially with the ball. But we do a lot wrong out of possession. On the other hand: tackles won ratio: 2nd. Passes attempted against: 3rd. Final third passes against: 11th we do a lot of stupid mistakes often we dominate the game but lose it in the end. This is where we have a lot of work to do. Best players (only league): Inih Sole outstanding again with a double double 18 goals 13 assists, maybe he will be our main striker next year to replace Rhys Platt. Achref Ghouma managed to get his 7 passing (at last) and 8 goals and 13 assists. Calum McEachran is a new 19 year old and contributed 6 goals and 4 assists from the wings in his first year. He developed fine in his attributes. Parting Josh Maxwell with 4 goals and 8 assists. Being more picky with contracts means that some players won't get the money they wish, he is one of them. our lazy jumper from the back contributed 8 goals. We have a lot of positives this year and will take the next step in the next year and maybe will win a promotion before season 20 (?) "The next step is always the most important!" Earl of Grey
  15. Tons of respect mate! Followed on YouTube a while. What do you think was the crucial main step out of Vanarama South?
  16. Good Job man! Wish you the best and follow with interest. If you drop some tactical pieces I'm eager to bite on them.
  17. 8 matches to go, will we reach the play offs 1st time? What do you think? "BELIEVE" We have to face Havant & Waterlooville, Ebbsfleet & Eastbourne
  18. "I know we can." Earl of Grey Season 14 - 37/38 We have our invincibles. The Under 18s performed a strong season with no loss and won their 11th title in the youth league. We can't be that bad. The senior team also played an incredible season with an amazing finish. At the beginning we played good football but again missed the finish and were punished several times with a late equalizer or even loss. In January the team took up momentum and found a strong run of form beating almost every team in front of them and took even a hint of chance for promotion play offs. Finally the opponents didn't show any weakness which is why we stayed in 9th place which was exactly our target, to finish 9th to 7th. The squad is still huge relegation candidate, predicted to finish 22nd. Talking about players there are some positives after such a year. We have another candidate for a team legend, Inih Sole 27YB delivered 19 goals and 10 assists as an IF(S), Rhys Platt however still a good goalscorer with 11 goals in 33 apps is declining now, a legend on it's way to the finishing line. It's not a Pascal Meier @libbyshuss but he is sitting with 499 apps and 270 goals. He will still be important though as the vice captain. Harry Lee 34YCw (the w is indicating him as the worst of the signed players of 34 youth intake) contributed as an DLF(A) 8 goals in 9 starts (19 subs). IW(S) Ghouma (7 goals/ 11 assists) and Maxwell (2 goals/ 8 assists) contributed as well, though not as well as in the past years. Ghouma is a strong player but his passing stays at 6 and won't improve, Maxwell however is talented but a lazy worker (6) and unambitious. John Flannery our jumper from the backline (18) contributed 7 goals and 2 assists from set pieces but he will have to fight for his place. He is a lazy worker as well and there are some good Centre Backs coming through. Our AMC(A) Abi Ibeh and Adam Griggs can improve a lot with goals and assists but they are still young. Our 4 WB(S) right and left disappointed with the number of assists (3) they delivered but Rhys Platt missed a lot of sitters the problem might be elsewhere. Some good players need to leave due to high salary demands and the necessity to reduce the debts of about 300k which is a huge mountain to climb. New players will come through the excellent academy and only key players like Sole, Platt, Domingos and Ghouma shall stay. The Earl is well and satisfied, "we took another step to become true legends here in Ricay. We will not rest and we will not doubt to get this ship sailing into the sky." Oh! We have our first candidate for player of the year: John Flannery the lazy jumper from the back
  19. Tonbridge won their game too think it’s a minimal chance but of course very minimal. But at last we are in a competition for it or close to ten years after the best finish (8th). I am all excited
