  1. thanks for the input, I'll try that too. Doesn't look too bad though only in the table ...
  2. I understand but we have enough chances but fail to finish them. I will carefully try your hints nontheless. Guess I'll start with dialing back the wide and going for standard passing. My FB are a big issue, they're either fast but have no other competences or they are mentally or technically stronger but slow. They're all young, think I can develop them a bit. I upgraded the training facilities and have almost 5 star coaching. But the problem is still chance conversion: Maybe it could be the easiest of all solutions, just add it into training Down below is a typical match against a relegation candidate. Against better teams it's similar but more even and we lose the match.
  3. Back again: First: We're predicted to finish last second: we're 5th in xG after 7 matches third: we're 21st in table What's wrong though? Is it just a question of form? We had a lot of injuries in key positions during the pre-season. We create chances but do not score and are hit on the counter. We have good possession numbers. Both DM have hold position, up front all players have roam from position. a few stats after 8 matches: we are 2nd in possession, 2nd in passes completed but only 17th in chances created but 5th in shots for. Our shots on target ratio is 21st (38%). Our conversion rate (8%) is the worst of all (24th). On the other hand, we are 5th in shots per game (13.38). We lose possession the least (1st) of all even though we have higher/ much higher tempo. We have relatively low high intensity sprints (17th) and are solid in final third passes (12th). Seems like we can keep the ball well but struggle to create much with it and/or struggle to target the goal with our shots. Maybe "work ball into box" or lowering the tempo of the game could help. Or dropping into a midblock to create more final third passes. As my final third players are relatively slow I tend to try the 1st approach. Regarding the defense: We conceded 15 in 8 matches which is way to much for my liking I dive into some stats too. First I check standards: we conceded the most of all teams (5/15) from corners. Here we are very vulnerable and I have to do my homework much better. We are last in tackles won, which is surely part of our high possession rate and our few turnovers but nontheless the last place means that we can do better and that we either don't get into the tackling situation or we lose to many tackles (?). Our tackles won ratio is 77% which is 8th in the league. Maybe we often don't get into the situation to try the tackle. It is no surprise that we don't win possession back. too often (24th). Low clearances (22nd) and low interceptions (21st) underline that. Despite that low tackling/ winning the ball back rates opponents tend to have a hard time against us: we allow few shots against (3rd) and shots on target against (5th) , very few passes against (3rd). Opposition passes per defense action is something I don't understand but we are very low (21st) respectively high (4.31). Means (?) that opponents need 4.31 passes per defense action executed by my players (?) which would be good. Ah (!) And we have the lowest final third passes against (1st) and the problem is not "the head" we are almost lowest in headers lost (23rd). Regarding all those stats I should be very optimistic except for one thing (!) If we lose the ball the christmas tree is all fire. Plus: We should place our shots more precisely while not changing too much in the build up. Played another two matches. We were the better team in both matches, Sheffield United are 1st place and we dominated them but failed to score. Watford had an early red card but managed to stutter the ball into the net two times, they even got a penalty and still we had higher xG. I tried to implement the findings of the stats above and ticked "work ball into box" which lead to more shots on target but still ... What's wrong with my team?
  4. Just awesome @Padders you survived the 1st time. Great man! You give me so much hope. Guess those 24 games without losing are coming towards Ricay too when we finally play PL. it‘s just crazy… you just refuse to give up.
  5. Hi all, I have a question: how would you describe (in attributes) a player like Paolo Maldini and which role would you think of him? I guess a very brave and aggressive FB(D)
  6. That’s true for me as well. For instance my long time star player Loric Kalala always looked for a PL side every season but is playing for Ricay now in his 10th year, as a captain. Still, this year he said it again, „I want move on“ but a few months later, „he’s happy to stay“. I wish I had some more serious offers for other players to clear my depts.
  7. Ouch that hurts @libbyshuss I feel with you. It’s completely nonsense and it should be reported in the bug forum. It’s completely absurd, they need to do better.
  8. Ah gutting guess you try again good luck. I also just survived Championship… I am on your heels
  9. Great update @libbyshuss but so hard to take those out-transfers. I feel with you. It never happened with me, because no one really wanted my players @HaylingZar wonderful update and impressive run up the leagues! How do you set up tactically
  10. but don't finish the challenge in 5 years ... I'll doubt you then
  11. Great one! Dulwich has been my long time rival down in VN. Would you also say a bit about tactics? I am eager to learn and listen.
  12. @Padders wow Maidstone arrived in PL as well. They‘re Vanarama level too at first
  13. Amazing piece of work, chapeau @Cultured Left Foot
  14. Pls anyone, how to survive that damn Championship. 442/ 424/ 433 argh
  15. Hey guys, i‘ve noticed that some coaches are not interested in further qualifications. It happens quiet often, I sign a new perfectionist for my youth set up and he tells me he‘s not interested to study further. (It doesn’t make sense though for a perfectionist or Model professionell to not wish to improve) Anybody with a similar experience and how to solve it?
  16. Season 2067/ 68 "The year went a lot better than expect. Guess we're back for good." Earl of Grey The season started with a surprising first place after a few games in. The promising start went into a successful half season and Ricay was part of the Promotion contenders lingering around the top places. We had some close games and some unexpected wins. Expectations were low and the Earl focused on Player talks, dressing room atmosphere and OI (which is his new hobby). Even in January when form was dropping we still managed some wins against top contenders like Middlesbrough. The results February and March weren't as good as in the first half of the season but still good enough for not dropping beyond 10th. We are very happy and satisfied as we were predicted to finish last and have 2 Millions in annual wage spendings which is a joke compared to what the other teams are spending. The success is completely resulted in an enormous teamwork and consequently no single player stood out of the bunch. There were many contributors. Tom Moore: 8 goals / 5 assists Loric Kalala: 6 g / 8 a James Graham: 13 g / 1 a Dominic Youngs: 4 g/ 7 a Zenon Reardon: 6 g/ 5 a Alex Stutter: 4 g/ 4 a The Earl does not need to post pictures of the guys. Imagine some solid League One/ Two players. His tactical approach was a fluid counterattack with Moore and Kalala as his main contributors and Graham as the finisher of the moves. The 433 was replaced by a 424/ 442 inspired by the Ferguson ManU shape. Player of the year: The iconic Sky Cover, of course a tall CB, who the Earl doubted that he will make it in Championship proved all critics wrong and produced a strong 6.97 rated season for the blues. "He is my man at the back. I love him and of course I enjoy his name" said the Earl. Every year in Championship is a trophy for us.
  17. This is some wonderful content which is why I push it back up. Just now I am with Billericay in my second Championship Season and I am facing really strong teams. I am the complete underdog and this year I don't have the euphoria of promotion in the back. here is my first approach on countering, I am aware that I have to adapt a bit. The SV could change into a DM(S) when opposition is strong. I like to play a fluid counter-attacking style of play which suits my strongest area of the game, the hard working and good passing. I also like it to be at least fluid, usually I have this right FB on FB(S) but for more security and a 3-1 or 3-2 rest defense I sacrificed it. Both creators are on the left hand side maybe it's useful to switch one to the other side (the DLF?) but I'd like at least some players to have positional play elements.
  18. I am a bit nervous about the new season. Friendlies weren't as they supposed to be. I tried a new approach to become more tight at the back but it's not working as intended. We should have won all friendlies as all teams are from the leagues below. I switched to the commen 433 after the 3:3 against League two side Eastleigh. Some of our starters at the back were injured during the pre-season. maybe it's just that. My est scorers has been Kalala and Moore in DLF. the 442 inspired by ManU under Ferguson. The two up front play decent at times but the holes at the back eat me up. The idea is to play a fluid counter attacking style. Here comes the 433 fluid counter attack I am afraid it's not working like the year before (I played a W(S) instead of the IW(A) ), mainly because our team had a bit of a turnover. I am trying to get rid of all those balanced personalities and try to implement the promising newcomers with stronger personalities. Especially at the wings we lack a bit depth. Any suggestions for the shapes? We are still predicted to finish last.
  19. It’s what I am thinking, especially as he‘s fairly strong with his left foot. Sadly my team is not good enough for playing with IFB
