yeah none of my fullbacks have registered a single key tackle all season and getting mostly good passing and tackle completion

I am no tactical wizard, but the thing I notice is that the Right FB has nobody ahead to pass to. I mean the DM will drop back, and the DLP will drop deep to get the ball, then all the forward players are on attack so they will be looking to push forward. The left FB has the left Cm pushing wide to pass to. So perhaps the RFB gets the ball and can only pass backwards or a long cross in hope? Just a thought.
What do you think either have the winger on support or full back on attack? Can't really have two mezzala in cm unless dlp has settings to drift wide but scared of losing possession

At first i thought it was just that i had tish players for that position but ive been through about 5 right backs in two seasons and every one every game is a rating between 6.0 and 6.5, can anyome see anything in the tactical set up that could be causing it? ive tried roles as fullback, wing back, support, defend, tried each for a for a good few games in a row and still the same, left back is always pretty bad too but steinhart is shyte and salger is a better centre back also they occasionally have decent games, pinheiro and vignali are both decent standard for bundesliga 2 and both strongest position is wingback which is what ive mainly been trying to use them as... frustrating the life out of me as i dont have a very attacking/high defensive line tactic and conservative team instructions so why are they playing trash every game??

You have to make sure the attributes required are spot on, if they lack in one I find they underperform
PPI's are very important too, depending on what role you want there, things like "plays killer balls" "plays one twos" " runs on the ball" "runs with ball through centre" I find very helpful
@anagain I trialled the Shadow Striker in FM19 & 20, the best I got out of them was when they were the only attack duty in the team with a single or duel wingers & a DLF
Yeah i think 18 was the last time i had good success with a 4231 wide and got good performances from amc i remember getting 10+ on both goals and assists per season sometimes double that if you had a good team like dortmund or barcelona

Is it just me or does anyone else find this an ineffectual position? regardless of the player i pick, regardless of how "green" they are at that position, regardless of their "role" in that position, regardless of their personal instructions in that role, regardless of the team instructions or tactics, ive tried every combination of the aforementioned as well as fast/counter tactics, possession-based tactics but no matter what i do i always have that player just having poor to mediocre games and barely getting involved 6.8 being about as good as it normally gets

Thought as much, don't get me wrong mine is perfectly playable but I want 5 star performance with every league loaded

Exploit their pressing with fast direct balls over the top, good passers and fast advanced forward/inside forwards, that or try and play them at their own game but then whoever has the better technical players will probably win

Fair point every goal I seem to score is a long pass over their defence, my striker either brings it down and skins them/slots past or runs into it from the long ball from the edge of my box

What he said mainly ^ mine has conceded about 15 goals in about 24 matches but only has average rating 6.86 ish because he's hardly doing fook all because the other 10 players are making sure he doesn't have to

I've offered (unsuccessfully) players in part exchange and nothing happened they didn't get upset or anything so I'm assuming unless it's accepted then no

Part of the game that is really grinding my axe at the moment, complacency/inconsistency, you criticize a player form their form declining and because they got a hat-trick four games ago they get upset, it,s nonsense, you should have an option to criticize their consistency, especially when theyre asking for a contract etc, tell them to improve their consistency, many players will score multiple goals then nothing for 4 matches then two goals and get 6.4 for the next 3 games but you cant criticize them because their average rating is above 6.8, I'd like to see player interactions in prematch team talks, post match team talks and private interactions to be able to question their consistency and quote the lack thereof when responding to contract upgrade requests or in general, eg "if you want a contract so much you need to improve your consistency" or in a post match team talk talk about this

Really fancy trying this as I haven't been able to find a 4123 that works for me. Is it plug and play or would you recommend tweaking/man marking etc?
as long as youve got the players for the tactic should be good to go, minor adjustments of the roles wont hurt but if youre toulouse id recommend mainly using balanced against lyon, monaco, psg and away matches against stronger teams, i also had a back up tiki taka/short possession based tactic when this one wasnt working mid-match I'll upload it as well, sometimes id move the dmc to amc on that as well

Started a new save with wolves and it's working with them as well, only thing I change is when I play traore I set him to winger attack for AMR instead and drop it from attacking to balanced for strong teams/tough away matches played 10 won 8 drew 1 lost 1 in the league, one point clear with a game in hand, GD +17, it's almost like an exploit tactic it's that effective

Tactic i created for my Lyon save, after many attempts to crack the PSG nut in the champions league on other saves ive found a fairly reliable set up, Fabio Silva may well be the perfect player

I bought Fabio Silva from Porto at 18 in January he got 15 in 16 by the end of the first season 31 in 29 the second season and so far this season he has 28 in 26, if they're a good player I play them at any age, Marco Kana is getting 7.8 average every game and he's just turned 19, ansu fati 16 goals and 9 assists in 22 games another that's just turned 19, I usually start them off the bench or against teams I'm expected to batter and if they start hitting form they gain my trust, those that take longer as the guy above said, keep selecting them for your B team or u18/19/20 (depending on your league)

Don't play them too often but play them enough, turn rest/training intensity down during heavily congested weeks, hire good coaches (like he said ^ hire determined coaches) upgrade facilities, sometimes it happens but these are the ways I've found to massively reduce it

Very similar to my Lyon tactic and the only team I consistently struggle against is Liverpool who play very similar, only other formations I struggle against are 532 with two wingbacks 3 centre backs like Atalanta, can't comment on good instructions as you don't get to see opposition team instructions but like I said Liverpool are unplayable so I'd say play him at his own game

another thing ive just looked at, haven't really seen before, looking on the form page at the feedback says the players are struggling with language... ive got some screenshots of another game with lille, where my fullbacks are getting decent rating but not sure if this game was before latest update, does anyone know when the latest was? still some interesting feedback on theirs too about complacency, would harsher pre match team talks be applicable in this situation? as personal 1-1 talks are very one dimensional, annoys me that this year theyve removed the "threaten with transfer list" option right off the bat, a player can be getting 6.2 every game but you can criticize him because his tackling and passing are good enough
