  1. I ask this as someone who had a few years away from FM, before diving face first back into 2020 & 2021.

The game time for my FM21 save was 10 days, in which time I covered 5 seasons exactly.

I like the leagues I'm not playing in to still maintain realism, transfers and full squads, plus when playing with smaller nations I like to have enough players to choose from, so my setup is below.

Basically - Is 2 days a season par for the course now, or is there something glaringly obvious in my save setup that is adding unnecessary weight?

My PC is absolutely fine, built fresh last year so there's no issues there.

  2. Well, 1 documentary on East German football and I've hand my mind changed. Definitely going to start the save in Germany as one of the East German champions who are languishing in the lower leagues and try to restore their glory.

If I can find a Regionalliga database then I'll start as BFC Dynamo, who won 10 consecutive titles in the 80s before being dumped into the 3rd division when the Berlin Wall fell.

If I can't find that database early on then I'm starting with Dynamo Dresden (8x East German champions)

  3. I'm still torn. I like smaller European leagues where I could make a team the dominant force in the nation and then try and make an imprint on Europe. FM21 had me going through Norway with Tromso and then Molde.

For 22, I'm considering either Ukraine (had a Ukraine FM08 save that is still my favourite ever) or the Swiss league, but not sure which team. I did like the idea of FC Vaduz as the Liechtenstein representatives in the Swiss league, but the fact they cannot be crowned champions obviously kills it a bit.

Just wondering if others had settled on their FM22 story yet?

  4. Honestly couldn't figure out where to ask this, so making a best guess.

I'm back on FM08 as Stenhousemuir and I've put together a shortlist of current world stars who are very young youth players on the game.

I have the likes of Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller, Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne & Romelu Lukaku, just wondering who else might be lurking out there as a 16/17 year old for 100k in someone's youth team?

  5. A few seasons in and I've traded Crystal Palace for Nantwich Town, with a squad of 6 whole players.

When I go to player search, I get 4947 players:

    image.png.f7fa410558509c9669cdd87ac297f626.png

When I click 'interested', it only takes 4 players off the total:

Now, unless Mbappe fancies swapping Man City for the team predicted to finish 24th in the league, something isn't right here. I've signed 2 fairly poor scouts, is this failure to narrow down due to them, or is this a bug? Anyone know and anyone know how to sort?

  6. When you're out of a job, you get weekly updates on job vacancies, is there any way to get there whilst you're still employed?

I've built my reputation as Molde boss to the point where teams like Brighton and Crystal Palace are offering me interviews without applying, but I'm running a very large database so it's hard to keep up.

I know in job security you can view vacancies by club reputation and that's perfect, but is there a way to get this information sent to you, rather than having to check this screen all the time?

  7. An interesting read, I started my FM21 save as Tromso too. After winning the title in the first season, I struggled in the Eliteserien before taking the Molde job after the Tromso board failed to back me.

Interesting to see that we both signed Erlien and Lyngbo in our first seasons too.

I built my team around Yttergard Jenssen, he and Kent-Are Antonsen have followed me to Molde.

Peter Bjerke in the U19s is worth keeping around and Ousseynou Cavin Diagne from Kristiansund was a great CM partner for Yttergard Jenssen.

    Good luck

    hey @DasMagicMullet

Happy to take a look at this if you can provide a save showing it?

Saves can be uploaded to our cloud service, if you do upload one just reply here telling me the save's name please: https://oc.sigames.com/owncloud/index.php/s/Kzvhd0MdU3v4Nv4

Really sorry Tony, I thought I'd made a save of it, but I appear to have overwritten it beyond the player having the issue.

  9. To set the scene, at the start of last season, I picked up a random Brazilian striker on a free transfer and gave him a 2-year deal. Now, at the end of the season (where he was a revelation) he has signalled his intentions to not sign a new contract due to the interest in him. I'd just won the league, and the interest came from 2 promoted teams.

Logically, you'd ask him if he was on crack to want to swop a starring role in the Champions League for a relegation battle, but there is no such option. In the end, I sold him for £4m and cursed his family for a generation.

In general, I'd love to be able to say to players "Come on now, we've just qualified for the Champions League, why not stick around and actually give it a crack"

  10. I'm at the end of 3rd season and the dates seem all jumbled. This is the current timeline I'm facing:

24th October 2022: Final game of the season

26th October 2022: Squad go on end of season break

    31st October 2022: Squad return for pre-season

5th November 2022: Cup Final for 2022 season

    6th March 2023: 2023 Season Starts

    A couple of issues:

    1. A 5-day end of season break, which is placed during a season that is still active (I'm in the cup final)

    2. A 5-month pre-season seems very steep, surely players are going to end up injured

  11. Finally found time to get to the end of my first season with Tromso, clinching the title on the last day of the season:

Curious to see how the real life team were faring with the same players, I was pretty shocked to see how they currently stand:

If they lose their final game then they will finish on the exact same wins, draws, losses and points. If they somehow manage to lost 4-0 then they'll finish on the exact same goal difference too.

Maybe I'm just tired, but stuff like this tickles me.

I'm managing Brommapojkarna who have Exceptional youth recruitment and excellent academy coaching.

When my youth intake comes through, I'll let them play the friendly v u19's, sign the players who look decent + any ones for positions there are only 1 or 2 of already in the u19's (normally an extra goalie) and any players with a 13+ determination attribute.

Once these players sign their contract, I promote any player in the u19's who is 18 years old to my reserve team. I do this again when the end of the season happens, normally at the date when out of contract players leave the club.

So the majority of the players below will get gamete and training in the u19's as you can see below. The least played player has 5 sub appearances and he's only a 2 star potential, so I'm not too fussed about that.

My reserves have players a year or two older, but again they are playing plenty of games.1749789103_Screenshot2020-12-07at09_26_22.thumb.png.dc27830235fb205731ec30dc96abe61a.png

I bring players into my first team normally as cover for the first 11, but they often break their way in pretty quickly. Out of the below, the following came through my youth system - Foldi, Westerland, Norberg, Gustafsson & Ekdahl. Ekdahls been in my 1st team for 3 season now though whereas the other 4 are all new this season. Both Foldi & Westerland had loans the previous season.

    I like to think youth players playing well also helps their development;

I like this, and all makes perfect sense, develop in-house to a certain level. I suppose me farming out 17 year olds on loan to teams who don't have as good a youth setup is counter intuitive to their development.

I really appreciate the detailed response, thanks.
