  1. Under Japan's registration rules, you could make sure any "foreign player (not including Asia)" type rule has Vladivostok as an "exception" (Russians not being Asian will mean most of the roster fail this rule). Also, test the foreigner rules to make sure they're working, if it still thinks Japanese are domestic for Vladivostok, add them as an exception to that too
  2. Have you noticed any issues with Champions League/"home grown from nation" registration? Usually they have 8 guys trained in England anyway so its not a problem, but ideally that could be Scotland for them
  3. Yeah, as long as you account for those 36 "qualified teams" that have seeding "0" in the default rules (not sure if that also includes the teams qualifying from the prelims), it should work, but there's some weird hard-coding in the UCL that might cause issues. When I tried to muck with the default 36-team league stage too much it didn't like it. You could do a Europa Conference League 2 anyway by not selecting "nations" or anything as part of the qualifying system (that would just break coefficients), and having a setup date after the Europa Conference League. Then have entries with "ignore teams" checked for "get best teams in competition" for the three UEFA club tournaments, then have following entries like "get best teams in division" with "max teams" set to "2" (or whatever) from countries like England. This would call the best 2 teams who weren't in any of the other comps. Obviously this doesn't account for changing coefficients the way you want, but is a decent compromise
  4. @Failproof @ajoobah @BinAqool who has done well for you in Saudi? Any surprising centre-backs or strikers hit form for you (that aren't already at the top 4 and Al-Shabab)? I got promoted with Al-Hazem (on the tiebreaker in fourth ) and desperately need to improve the squad ahead of the new season
  5. Might do something with Aus/NZ and Canada/USA in FM24 if no one else does an expanded realism version
  6. When sorting teams by "cup points (5 years)". Anyone know if this works? Does it take "cup points" from the tournament you're setting the rules for, or does it look at the "division" or "competition" that you're getting teams from and take "cup points" from that? Has anyone seen it in the wild (i.e. default rules somewhere)?
  7. Hey screw you, that sh*t wasn't easy! Lol, just kidding, but yes, the run-in wasn't as difficult as I feared, thanks in part to a couple of strategically-timed team meetings. Even though we won my first game in charge, I was worried when the new manager bounce quickly disappeared with those two straight losses. Thankfully, we found our form quickly and only lost one more game, at Al-Ahli, meaning we were able to keep pace with the chasing pack until finally reaching the promised land. I think Tagueu's back off to Europe, although we're trying to extend his loan. It's exciting just thinking about the transfer window ahead! I might see about reframing this as a career thread or starting a new one in that subforum
  8. Turn off that setting? Non-contract rosters are usually so fluid with guys being poached that having hard registration dates seems like a bad idea anyway
  9. Buzzing! Took over Al-Hazem, 15 games into the Saudi First Division. They were 11th, but only 5 points out of the top four and with positive goal difference, so I knew they had a quality team in there. This season represented a unique chance to go up, with the extra promotion spots resulting from the top tier's expansion to 18 teams in the 2023/24 season. Long story short, we went into the final game in third, having finally cracked the promotion places (along with Al-Ahli) with one game left after a couple of 1-0 wins in the run-in. Only needing a draw to wrap up promotion, one problem remained - title-chasing Al-Riyadh were coming to visit. First, they went up 2-0, and we pulled one back. Then, 3-1 to the visitors with the clock ticking down. Was this all for nothing? Another year in the doldrums, wondering what it might have been like to play the likes of Neymar and Benzema every week? Finally, a lifeline. On-loan Cameroonian hitman Joel Tagueu, our top scorer with 14 goals already this season, pulled one back. Then, with 5 minutes left, our left-back floated in a cross, and it happened: Promotion. In the 85th minute. The division was insanely competitive, far more so than IRL, and the logjam meant we were always able to keep up with the top four. Our squad will need some big additions prior to the new Saudi Pro League season, but thankfully any financial problems should evaporate overnight with the generous state subsidies afforded to top division teams. A distraction to my international ambitions, sure, but being a part of the Saudi football revolution should help raise my stock considerably... Edit: I should mention, the biggest winner was surely winger Ola John. He signed a bumper new deal with a few games left, saving the squad from a complete morale meltdown as his allies were supporting him. Not only that, he lived up to his routinely "complacent" body language perfectly, going missing for most of the season before coming up with 7 assists in our last 8 games (!) to claim 10 on the season and a £110K bonus, negotiated prior to my arrival. The cheeky scamp... Butting heads with Al-Riyadh coach Damir Burić
  10. Ahh, OK, I suppose if you had a file for every country enabled with "continental cup rules" set to qualify teams to the new competition, it might be worth testing to see if coefficients keep working. If you use the UCL unique ID and change just about everything else but still have enough room to accommodate the default qualified teams, I wonder if the co-efficients and "places" screen would keep adjusting
  11. I can help if you like, but the main thing is just replicating whatever the default "continental cup rules" are for the Canadian Championship and CanPL. But for the Leagues Cup, you could edit it all you like and I don't think it will affect CCL at all
  12. The pre-game editor is not for saved games, I think you need the in-game editor?
  13. Custom how? Like rebuilding the whole thing? My edited ACL (rules accessed via pasting the entire list like I described in the other thread) still has the variable coefficients/qualifying places, and competitions are still going up and down in the reputation list (just checked a test file from 2038) My FIFA CL file has edited ACL and UCL as well (no final round) and the coefficients still "work" (just not well given all my changes), that needs some tweaking but they haven't broken like I thought they would. Wonder if it's because I didn't change "qualified teams" at all (just manually added Russian teams to ACL)
  14. I have a file a few pages deep in the download forum like that, I think I put the 'B' teams in the SPL (which should keep them from qualifying for Europe) but that just caused different issues, and the AI didn't really know how to use it properly. You could peek at that file for ideas
  15. It will only have the changes you've applied. You're not saving a copy of the entire FM db, you're just saving a list of the changes you've applied, so anything you haven't touched will be unchanged (or removed, or added, as appropriate)
  16. I meant the leagues might not be finishing in time, sorry, or at least not crowning a last winner or whatever the cup thinks it needs to draw. And you can totally have different playoffs under the parent comp, just set up different stages. Would be easier to keep track of the various requirements and teams dropping from one stage into another too
  17. Is it a playoff set under the parent competition? I think it might function better that way than as a "cup", but either way I'd guess it's an issue with the competitions not finishing in time (maybe not handing out rankings, especially if they're counting on a playoff which hasn't been scheduled yet to do so)
  18. Finally doing some coaching in Saudi and the First Division (second tier) is really competitive in the first season, there are 4 automatic promotion spots because of the first tier expanding. So you can be fighting relegation one week, and then with a couple of strong results suddenly be in the promotion mix (alongside Al-Ahli, who have one of the hottest young European managers and a slate of stars arriving in the summer). The Qatar top division looks fun for the same reasons. 12 teams with only 1 automatic relegation spot! I just saw Umm-Salal sack Patrice Carteron midway through the season as they're rock bottom, but that's only a point from safety and just 9 points from a Champions League place (with a couple of extra spots going to the revived GCC tournament)
  19. Newgens will be fine (still in a Scottish city and region, with a Scottish stadium) but Champs League registration will be a pain. It will want homegrown players trained in England because that's what their "nation" (not "based nation") is set to, even if their "continental cup nation" is now England. If I did it again I might try and make the Scottish Cup give one CL place, and include the Old Firm in there so they're still qualifying from Scotland the homegrown rules would be for Scottish homegrowns (or a new playoff at the end of the league season which brings in the Old Firm) I remember B teams and youth teams acted weird when I did this last year too but seemed to sort themselves out after a year or two
  20. Is it not just their "requirements" need fixing? That part was blank in the screenshot in the other thread
  21. Whole list seems to keep that sort of hard-coded template in my screenshot, while just copying and pasting one set of rules onto an existing set of rules does not. What difference that actually makes (if any) I'm not completely sure And yes, whole list is convenient, I think I have a couple saved xmls that include just, like, every single CL rules for quick reference/copying
  22. I activate them the same way (i.e. change nation to Serbia for example, activate Serbian advanced rules, remove all other competitions and nation, then copy and paste the whole "list" of competitions into a blank international rules (instead of blank continental rules), and then re-add the international rules and specify the "competitions" I want active). That way seems to keep fixture rules and hard-coding, including what appears to a hard-coded template for all default comps: @rusty217 is this similar to your method? I'm not sure keeping the template is necessary but might explain some of the weird quirks of default comps
  23. If France hadn't been so busy with wars in Europe they might have been able to devote more to the French and Indian Wars in North America. Imagine a modern day geography where the Midwest is mostly French, with greater Mexico and Russian America on the western frontier? Maybe not the same ideas you're working on but still fun to think about
  24. You duplicated the award but didn't change the "short name". i.e, you duplicated "Premier League team of the week" or whatever and changed the long name, but the short name showed up as "team of the week" which was fine to keep. However you have to treat that as blank, sometimes a duplicated entry will show stuff like that but there's actually nothing there. You can change one letter, then change it back, and it will stick (you can see this under "changes" at the bottom left)
  25. Yeah, under the Championship playoff there will be stuff under "fate actions" about the winner getting promoted etc. You can just add a fate action for the final "losing team", to advance to the pro/rel playoff (set up as a new stage in either the Prem or the Championship). For that extra pro/rel playoff you could add the Championship playoff under "requirements" so it doesn't draw until that's done
