  1. They can come in from the Libertadores groups here, but the numbers work perfectly for bringing them in there first. I'm not touching the default qualification by adding extra spots or anything like that
  2. It's brutal, totally immersion-breaking when you're like "wait why did Al-Hilal lose 3-0 at home to Al-Adalah in the second season" and it's because they're playing a 16-year old centre-back after selling any domestic cover they had. In 2026 the homegrown rules kick in, which could be great because the "homegrown" data is filled out for most Saudi players already (their research team is brilliant). The only problem is that teams have sacked anyone who would fit by then, and then ignore the rule anyway. I've tried massaging the roster rules to have "minimum Saudis" and stuff but they ignore that too. I'm dying for a solution so any ideas are welcome. Feel like I should put them all at a fake club (Sports Ministry?) and loan them to the top teams with no recall/termination for their entire contract lengths but that's a last resort. Link? I can see in his "transfer preferences" he changed some of the Saudi nation's nation/continent preferences but nothing with how it treats its own players
  3. Doing some simming and the big clubs are still offloading way too many Saudi players (that they need for squad rules) whenever they can. This has severely dampened my appetite for moving forward with any projects from the region, all my testing in FM23 couldn't come up with a suitable way to make clubs prioritize keeping a big squad of domestics, and making sure those domestics are (mostly) happy with occasional playing time
  4. Brute force technique, hahah love it. Let us know how it looks after a few years of simming. It's particularly satisfying when the game is still doing something annoying but you can find a way to functionally get around it anyway
  5. Doable, but lots of work. You should look at the advanced rules for Brazil and how they handle all the secondary divisions (basically separate structures with their own pro/rel running alongside the main one), and mimic that
  6. That's gotta be the whole club's operating budget? Can't imagine it's just wages. Still massive at that level
  7. "Team mapping" seems not to work quite as well this year so I just haven't got the cool quirk where the group stage draws before the prelims are done, showing "winner of playoff 4" or whatever in the group standings until that team is known. That also allowed for the (rare but realistic) scenario where, say, two Brazilian teams could end up in the same group (but only if one came through the prelims). Will keep working on that
  8. I'm using the default qualifying, so as long as it doesn't break that, it should be fine. What's the nature of the custom USA file? I'm not sure but you might be able to copy the default qualifying rules from MLS (if they're in there somewhere) and paste them into your custom comp, then alter accordingly
  9. The Al-Faisaly defender? I *just* signed him in the January 2024 window, lol, what a coincidence. Spent a bit of cash but needed the reinforcements. Looking to establish Al-Hazem in mid-table this year before resigning and getting a job in Brazil or Qatar. Got knocked out of the King Cup at the first hurdle so it will be nice to play somewhere with, like, 8 different cups to enter
  10. ¡Viva América! This brings the 16 CONCACAF Champions Cup teams into an expanded Copa Libertadores group stage from 2024. MLS and MX clubs were rumoured to participate at one point, but this has been confirmed not to happen IRL. Here, it goes ahead, with the CCC last 16 no longer played and settled by Libertadores group games instead: The default CONCACAF qualifying is weird, it doesn't always call 27 teams, I've tried to account for that as best I can (same if they fix it in any patch). 11. They're good atm as part of the UEFA club coefficient system, no way am I messing with that labyrinthine mess at this point
  12. Is that the same one that operates in the background as a sort of pan-British hidden nationality for work permit purposes? I wonder if we could con the game's coding by putting that one in the agreements
  13. Weird, maybe there's some hard-coding as to what happens with teams knocked out of Europe. I wonder if there's an issue somewhere else though
  14. Nothing you can do with putting GB or UK in the EU can you? Two separate nations each with their own unique ID
  15. Sounds like it might be not finding enough space for all the dates, but running over anyway and then not scheduling for the next season as a result. Down to the new international breaks causing extended delays and rescheduling maybe?
  16. Feeder clubs, the scouting knowledge of your club and head of youth development (?), and staff member nationalities should affect specific clubs' intake IIRC, but nothing on that scale
  17. Are the fixture rules still there? Do you have a new set for your new competition rules? Wonder what's happening with the ACL. Check the default K-League rules in "other league stage rules"/"continental cup rules", it probably tells it to qualify teams in a certain way that you're not accounting for now. Try copying and paste those into your new rules and just change the details to your new set-up
  18. Is CanChamp still in continental rules? Load that up and change it to "get best team from division" from whatever it is now
  19. Other than the fantasy Libertadores, do you see anything that needs fixing? At quick glance it looked like they sorted out Concacampeones themselves. They got around the Gold Cup qualifying thing by (unrealistically) moving the playoffs to March, I might fix this with team mappings
  20. I'm sure it adds a good 30 seconds or so when it's setting up the ACL on a slower machine but it's worth it EDIT: Wow, I just spotted they went ahead and included FC Sevastopol's (still in "based nation" Crimea) move to the Russian Second Division this year. Will have to include AR Crimea in the list of regions now
  21. LOL, I took it as a lesson in geography. Who knew how dense some of those areas in "Central Russia" are. Plus it was worth it the first time seeing Khabarovsk or whoever drawn in the East
  22. That likely means an issue with the comp elsewhere. I mean, if you're capping the entry at 15 teams that should be 15 teams, and it's throwing that up, then the rest of the entries aren't pulling enough teams. What about just using "get cup stage teams" and pulling them that way (can still keep the "fate actions" on the ECL so that people see in the rules what will happen to them if they lose)
  23. It's annoying because it's the same default dates, unless I've messed up seeding somehow in my chopping and changing. Will start again with a clean set of rules. It actually fits perfectly, CONCACAF whittles itself down to a final 16 just in time to add to the 32-team Libertadores group stage, making 48. Group winners and best runners-up progress, leaving 8 runners-up to drop to the Sudamericana (used to be 8 third-place teams). The CONCACAF last 16 isn't played and is just decided by a 16-team league phase (getting results from the Libertadores groups). This could probably be dropped entirely but you want to account for Club World Cup stuff in the background as much as possible. It's great for MLS, same calendar year as Brazil and now it all leads up to a big final in winter. MX teams and fans would love it too. Plus the guaranteed Caribbean spot in CONCACAF's last 16 makes for some great Tivoli Gardens vs. Flamengo-type clashes
