  1. Yeah don't do that, lol, better to try and find the issue. Are they included under "competitions" in the nation rules (not the competition)? Otherwise they're likely not setting up due to dates, "requirements", etc., same as above. Think about it, the game will be trying to set up those cups at the beginning of the season because you haven't told it not to (nothing under "requirements", set up date, etc). Obviously it can't "get last winners" at that point because those other comps haven't been played yet
  2. @Vakama2619 Does the OFC Nations Cup need fixing? Might be worth adding the four associate members to that too. It would work with the Hawaii file because they just replace Wallis+Futuna
  3. What's the setup date? I can see you don't have anything under "requirements", guessing it's trying to set up the competition before those competitions have been played, and it can't find a "last winner" so it doesn't draw
  4. Success in my international debut! Having started my journey as a football manager in summer 2022, I noticed a few job openings ahead of the WAFU Zone A U20 international tournament in West Africa. One cheeky application to The Gambia FA and a successful job interview later, I was appointed to lead the team in Mauritania: First off was offering former Premier League star Lomano LuaLua the assistant manager job. Fluent in English and French, he would be a valuable man to have around. Also joining the staff was video game legend Cherno Samba, whose Gambian heritage meant he was particularly motivated to help us succeed. In picking a squad, I went mostly domestic, although a few Middle East and Euro-based players joined the side along with the English-Gambian lads Mo Faal (Fylde) and Ethan Bojang (Marske). Although perhaps not as technically gifted as their teammates homegrown in Africa, they brought a different perspective and would prove to be valuable substitutes in the upcoming tournament. Speaking of which, we started things off with a 5-1 come-from-behind win over Guinea. Both inverted wingers in my 4-2-3-1 (wide) system grabbed a brace. Up next was Mali, the toughest test in group A. A solid rearguard and set piece nous saw us steal a 1-0 win, meaning we had advanced as group winners (due to the head-to-head tiebreaker) before playing Mauritania in the final group game. With the hosts also eliminated, the game was ultimately meaningless, so I rang the changes. The team ran out 3-1 winners with a late consolation for the home team the only black mark on our (backup) goalkeeper's clean sheet. Group B runners-up Guinea-Bissau awaited in the semifinals, and we rained shots on their goal all game, hitting multiple posts, but nothing seemed to give. Then, with just seconds remaining in stoppage time, attacking midfielder Wally Fofana - one of our players based abroad in Belgium - steadied the ball outside the box and hit it low and true into the corner. The Guinea-Bissau goalkeeper, perhaps unsighted by the sheer amount of his defending teammates crowding the 18-yard-box, jumped for it late. We were up 1-0, and the referee's whistle soon followed: Arch-rivals and neighbours Senegal awaited in the final. Another disciplined start saw us run into a 2-0 lead by the 22nd minute, which we held onto bravely, not hesitating to waste time where appropriate: Victory - and a trophy to crown my start in international management. Although things had gone to plan, I wasn't celebrating too wildly and was already thinking about my next step. "The" Gambia U20s don't have any competitive fixtures for the next couple of years, so after thrashing Republic of Congo in a friendly where I tested a few fringe players and youngsters who were "wanted" by European teams to put them in the shop window, I handed in my resignation and am keeping an eye on the job market. I love the idea of taking various international teams in Africa to their regional cups, like the legion of French, Belgian, and eastern European coaches who crop up on the continent. As a Canadian, the game doesn't consider there to be any language impediment in taking any French or English-speaking jobs, which leaves a lot of room in that regard. In the meantime, I might toss in an application if a lucrative and exciting-looking job in the Middle East crops up. So, according to my own convoluted points system, this puts me at a meagre 20 points to kick things off:
  5. For the switch-over year I think you need to use this tab: And you can totally add a pro/rel playoff, it's just a bit of work. I have one in that same Qatar file you could take a look at for guidance, it's referenced in various places in both divisions.
  6. Just realizing this could be an issue with tournaments that you want to have as part of your Board's pre-season expectations, but I think for the AFL it's OK because it's such a novel concept and so many different leagues (with different calendars) will play in it anyway. When it was drawn, it looks like your Board revised their season expectations to expect you to make it to the quarter final? What did the news items say, if you recall? Nice to see a long-term West African club save!
  7. Try posting your file. If anyone has the FM18 editor still installed it shouldn't be too hard, or I can check it out this weekend
  8. Hmm wonder if the competitions they rely on are finishing in time? Dates lining up, ranking levels all being handed out, etc.
  9. When I reloaded my save, the lineup was blank and tactics had reset, which I've never noticed before (definitely not with club teams). It might be fine to save your tactic first and then reload it each time though. Might only be an issue with youth teams, I was coaching Gambia U20s
  10. International coaching isn't that immersive, especially youth teams. There really isn't much you can do. You can't even set training. It does make it fun to whip through a tournament quickly though. You kind of have to, if you quit and reload the save without saving your tactic it appears to clear itself (?), so it's easier just to get through the 5 games or so at a time
  11. Ohhh ok. I don't know how the team gets those default qualified teams (which I've capped at 18 because sometimes it would randomly find a third NZ team to make 19 instead of using my next entry, which is Wellington)
  12. Definitely. If it's going to be a monopoly it might as well be a pro team! Do you have Australia active too? I just won the WAFU Zone B U20s with Gambia, glorious win over rivals Senegal in the final. The problem is, they won't have a competitive game for another year or two, so I resigned and it's still only October 2022. Just need to wait for a club job to open up...
  13. You should get in to the 24-team group version that starts in 2024 if you won the CL. Or has it drawn without you? Maybe I took that out when I made the groups more regional
  14. Oh yeah you can keep that file, I should have clarified that the only incompatible files are the ones that change up the main continental tournaments (Champs Leagues etc). Those extra ones run fine in the background
  15. What about "qualify team for stage" and then in the other playoff, use "get qualified teams" (obviously under the other playoff's "requirements" you'll have to include the earlier playoff)
  16. If you're using fixture rules under "nation", then here you have to check "fixture rules index" and enter the right number. Or if you just want to set them in the comp itself instead, check that big "fixture rules" and set them that way
  17. Yeah this replaces everything. Don't run any of the other continental files, this effectively Includes the CONCACAF fix for picking teams, just sends the last 16 here instead of the usual knockout stage. As for CWC, this replaces it, no more December/summer tourneys. Don't run a CWC file or it will clash.
  18. Definitely give it a once-over in the editor to review any new features, and test a few seasons to make sure it's pulling all the teams you think it should. That's if you don't get some errors with respect to number of teams straight away and have to go into the editor already
  19. @Vakama2619 Sorry I just looked at it again and realized you wanted Hawaii and Rapa Nui (seeding 3) to come in at the groups and rewrote a couple of the paragraphs
  20. Also it's not gonna test properly as long as you've got that entry for "get last winner" with the Micronesian Cup, because there is no "last winner" yet (blank history). So if it does verify, it's pulling an extra team somewhere (or reusing one from the prelims)
  21. Just looking now. BTW, save the file under a different name if you post an edited version like that What's with the team pool? It looks like it will just take Wellington every year? Are you trying to account for them already qualifying (from your custom DB) and being in that first list of 18 teams? Anyway you'd have to go to the bottom of the competition settings under "ranking rules"/"ranking level info" and add another ranking (should be 9) for the 2 teams ("no. of teams" set to 2 obviously) for the two teams losing in your new pre-prelim round. Set the "sub-stage name" accordingly. In the first cup stage, scrap your entries with Tahiti/Vanuatu because we'll cover this in "qualified teams" (below), we can just rely on the existing entry with "seeding of qualified teams" already set to "2". To get the worst teams at the top, "sort" by division reputation but with "reverse teams" checked (more on that below). For those Vanuatu and Tahiti teams in "qualified teams" itself, add an entry for "get qualified teams for comp" at the top, with "nation" set to Vanuatu. "Sort" by "last position". Set "maximum teams" to 1. Give it the seeding 0. Then repeat the entry, but with seeding set to 2. This way, the league winner should get seeding 0, and the league runner-up should get seeding 2. Do this with Tahiti too. To make the teams at the top of the teams list (in the stage itself) come in first, I use stage/general/"reverse teams" checked, then under "team list changes" I add an entry with the start index and end index reflecting the overall amount of teams (so, 0 to 9 for ten teams in this stage). "Reverse teams" is checked here as well (but not "randomize teams"). Anyway, the pre-prelim should have the loser getting the ranking 9, right? You've got it at 10, did you mean to add a ranking somewhere like with a third place game and then just not update it in the overall competition "ranking levels" too?
  22. Either work, if you want the numbered fixture rules you can use across different competitions and versions, you can just include those all that stuff you've got there in the numbered fixture rules under the nation. Then uncheck the fixture rules in the comp itself and just give it that value. You can still use competition dates etc in the fixture rule, just need to refer to the competition where the boxes call for it.
  23. Good question, I'm guessing it will assign a new ID at game start. If you can find anyone who's made a face pack for created players and updated it between each game or even each patch (like the guys who make the Japanese stuff) they might know better
