  1. Cheers, I've been wondering how to make, like, the COSAFA Cup have only southern African refs. Do you know if "preferred officials" in the competition does anything?
  2. As far as I remember the Hogges will only let you sign dual nationals, for the last few versions at least, which it sounds like you want. When we discovered the Hogges trick someone on Reddit tested it out. You might be OK with newgen names (without adding extra people) if you just make sure the local region has the correct language set (i.e. Italian and the newgens might have Italian-sounding names). That might just be surnames though. Can also try changing the city's language.
  3. There's gotta be a stage flag or stage finished action-type thing somewhere like "add history if inactive"
  4. Seems to be working so far and keeps people from taking second nationality (at least visibly). Should work the other way too where a Sammarinese player at, say, Ravenna wouldn't take Italian citizenship after 5 years
  5. I'd guess they're hard-coded (like all the craziness around the Canadian teams in MLS) but could be wrong. I thought it came up with Celtic/Rangers but maybe I need to try all the various combinations of nation and based nation
  6. Also occurred to me that San Marino doesn't allow dual nationality, so as long as you check that box it might help prevent dual nationals joining (regardless of the years set). I'm not sure how that's implemented in the game but I think they might have a status of like "doesn't want to give up existing nationality"
  7. Well it's "easy" until the game starts counting all of your Lebanese players as non-EU too, even if you specifically include Lebanon as "EU" to itself (this is the glitch). So it's going to tell you all but 1 of your Lebanese players (if the roster rule was 1 extra EU player) can't be registered. This is some weird holdover of the coding, maybe they thought people would only include that rule for countries already in the EU, or just an oversight.
  8. Yours sounds doable. Just do like 5 foreigners, 4 non-EU (for example if the rule was 4+1). Then go into Lebanon's information and add Palestine to "nations treated as EU". However this might mean Lebanese players are glitched and recognized as "non-EU", so you'd need the elaborate workaround using an extinct nation to create a secondary Lebanese nationality. It's annoying and will likely create more issues, but it's a fun method to learn. Thankfully, both Qatar and San Marino don't allow dual nationality (and conveniently don't have default local regions), so the extra nationality doesn't even show up as a "second nationality" but is there in the background. For Lebanon you could name it "Lebanese (natural-born)" or something with the Lebanese flag or coat of arms (maybe they have a separate legal category for jus soli Lebanese, you could use that). Non-clickable but necessary for this weird roster workaround
  9. The rule is 3+1+1. Described as 3 foreign slots, 1 slot for Asian players, and 1 slot for Arab players. Effectively, that means 5 foreigners (in total), which is reflected in my roster rule. This also means non-Asian foreigners are maxed at 4 (think about it. The extra Arab player can be Asian, but he might also be North African). This also means non-EU foreigners (non-Arab) are maxed at 4. To actually make all Arabs "EU" to Qatar is easy enough, but it then creates a glitch where Qataris somehow count as non-EU. Fixing this requires the elaborate workaround I've described here (using an extinct nation). It's a big project, and will render your DB incompatible with any others that use the same extinct nation (I can see that the brilliant Isle of Man DB here in the Editor's Hideaway also uses Ireland pre-1922, so I might change mine to United Arab Republic or something in the future so they're compatible).
  10. Noticed in the epic San Marino challenge thread that @6499red pointed out an issue with some non-local players at Victor and San Marino Academy (in the Italian leagues) were taking Sammarinese nationality if their "date when moved to based nation" was incorrectly filled out by default. Not that many players are affected, but I'm uploading an updated version of the file to account for it.
  11. I'm gonna look at this and take some inspiration for some changes to my SM database (in Editors' Hideaway and Steam) if that's cool. Only DB that recreates the non-EU player rule as far as I know. I didn't realize the Italian players at Victor were changing nationality based on this issue
  12. Looks cool, is there a version without level 10? Assuming it's a copy of someone else's level 10 database, have you got permission to post a modified version?
  13. I believe I had that issue with putting Celtic and Rangers in the English Prem. It worked anyway because they had enough English-trained players already. Maybe you could add Italy to "nations counting as non-foreign" in France's rivalries information or something like that
  14. Unsolicited advice I know but If you just use the later Champions League dates then teams would have to fit that in their schedule anyway (in the event of going deep in CL). In the unlikely event they do go deep in Europe, Royal League would likely reschedule games for a week or two later (depending on fixture priority)
  15. Rusty's right but I think if they get in CL they'll need to have homegrown players of their "nation" (not "based nation")
  16. Which makes CIS perfect for my additional San Marino nationality in my Sammarinese DB, lol, great workaround but I'm quickly running out of free slots. I think we could get to the 16 for the Island Games but it would be very tight (there's a cool Manx DB on here that could possibly be compatible). St. Helena, Falklands etc would be fun too, but likely have no existing players in the DB. Alderney are interesting as I added, like, one guy to the name pool, so it's still pulling whatever default names it has.
  17. Starting to think some of the extinct nations like SEA Chinese, Singh Indian, Malay Indian etc exist only to provide hidden namelists for newgens in certain regions. Assuming that's right, do we know which extinct nations don't come with namelists? Gotta be Ireland pre-1922 and maybe "Upper Volta" or others like that which seem to exist only for history entries in competition histories?
  18. Brilliant, can I ask what was the solution for "avoid team from previous group"? Also what happens with the WC hosts? Were you able to keep the tri-hosts in 2026? And then the game's auto-selection (Spain, Korea etc) takes over, or did you have to redo the host selection process?
  19. Ugh, it's a big job, adding all the clubs and competitions for both Jersey and Guernsey (and the inter-island Upton Park Trophy). Not sure I'll get to it anytime soon, seems like a Spring project. For Alderney's greyed out names to no longer sound "Singh Indian" or whatever extinct country I used, I think we need a bigger name pool, but don't you need like 200+ created people for that to make a dent? I know people have just made retired refs before so they don't show up in the game. While we're at it we might as well add the top players from each club. is anyone here based on the islands and has thought about a project like this before? Willing to contribute with some research/pointing me in the right directions?
  20. Playing around with taking some of the unused nations and making them Guernsey, Jersey, and Alderney, with the annual Muratti Vase: DOWNLOAD | backup | FLAGS Skipton Cup (preseason club) | Island Games Screenshots: (I think the "population" is hard-coded but is just aesthetic anyway): Load all players from all 3 nations. Most of them come from lower league Guernsey FC and Jersey Bulls (this should make a nice add-on to @lionel messi's brilliant level 10 database). For tiny Alderney to have more players, we'll have to make the Guernsey Priaulx League (which the Alderney Nomads play in), this could be a future expansion along with the Island Games. For some reason, Jersey and Guernsey play in the first year of Euro U21 qualifying (which is weird, but kind of cool), and then just Guernsey. The U19s and senior teams aren't in anything (except Muratti and friendlies, which we want). I don't see any issues with WCQ, Euros, or Nations League so far. If you notice anyone missing who should have Guernsey/Jersey (or even Alderney) nationality, let me know.
  21. Yeah but that's a "move dates for competition" helper, then you select the World Cup in the details (can move dates around or cancel your custom competition depending on other competitions, like a summer/winter AFCON). This specific helper doesn't have any details or anything as far as I can tell, you just use "helper" "FIFA World Cup". I think he's on to something that it's related to the World Cup hardcoding
  22. Added the Arab Cup from 2025 to the Gulf Cup file. Follows the same format as 2021, with the bottom-ranked teams and an invitee narrowing the field in a neutral playoff on the only free date in June - then a 16-team tournament in December. Also adjusted the Stars League (and the Saudi file) to break for a few weeks during the tournament, with the season slightly extended as a result. I'll make a challenge thread at some point for all these internationals where you have to win everything in Africa and Asia, but until then, if anyone's managed to win the Gulf Cup or anything let us know here how you've been getting on.
  23. Brilliant explanation. Sometimes it's worth putting both group A matchday 1 (for example) games as offsets just so you can see them next to each other with the stadium rules in front of you instead of having to cross-reference one (i.e. fixture date 0 in that last screenshot). But that's just for convenience, same effect
  24. I could see, like, "Main Continental International Finals" having a higher multiplier than "International Finals", but the World Cup likely has some hard-coded grandaddy of 'em all multiplier that's even higher (that we can't access)
  25. Are you able to change the type of contract to "non-contract" in the offer screen?
