  1. Error fixed and back to testruns. Turned out I missed deleting a competition (exactly the reason why I am doing the tests).
  2. The example I have here is from Germany, but the concept works the same for Germany as for the European Cups. In the screenshot you see the list which starts with Germany. Under that you will find the fixture rules. Fixture rule 3 is the rule for German first division aka Bundesliga. When you convert the European Competition to advanced rules you will find Europe instead of Germany and you will need to click through the competitions to see which fixture is set for the Champions Cup. If you have set the fixture rule to your liking and you want to be sure that the competition takes over the fixture rules, go to the competiton (in this case Bundesliga). Under Fixture times and rules you will find the tab Fixture rules and this one corresponds to rule three as in the screenshot above. In case you find -1 there, you can change it your fixture rule number.
  3. The Steam workshop could be a start to check for a file as the UK/Ireland setup is regularly done as a project in previous FMs. As it would be part of your dissertation you would have to check the level of realism though. Do you have a competition setup in mind?
  4. The continent fixture rules are numbered and the number of the fixture rule is set in the competition, so that's why you set the rules at continent level, while using them in the competition.
  5. In this case, check the German rules as the German competition does have this kind of rule implemented.
  6. I think you are right on this one. Have seen this go wrong in other instances where competition setup change.
  7. Yes, you can do that. Set promotion and relegation to 0 and make sure to remove playoffs where applicable.
  8. Most competition rules do have some rules for point deduction when administration hits. So that's a matter of checking for instance the English competition rules. The issue is usually more in getting a team into administration as the game has some tricks to avoid that.
  9. Weird, I downloaded the file, placed it in the editor data folder but the editor can’t find it. Edit: Nevermind, found the issue on my side. First checks doesn't show anything off.
  10. Depends a bit on what you have in mind. The thing is that some files only work if used together so best to PM me, so we can discuss.
  11. Which FM is this? Can't see it in the FM23 editor when trying to load the file.
  12. When you change team numbers in a competition you need to change the team numbers in up to four different places. The error seems that you have missed one of those places.
  13. Yeah, that's probably the most relevant question, when was the file tested/released and against which databaseversion. There are two lines of thoughts I have right now, one, it has to do with specific nations, which means that if you edit one of those nations things with assigning teams to the Europa League go wrong (essentially maing it a teamcount issue). That would explain that some people report their files work. The second looks to be the more logical casem which is that SI broke the Europe League. Is there any change or bug on the Europa League that anyone is aware of? Btw, my boss thinks my thoughts are worth a bit more than a penny
  14. No need to go into the comp editor fmf file. That's where this thread is for, to ensure you can do it without having to extract that file, edit and repackage it. Also, I am first going to test a few things to see if what is done via the person name part also already works in game if people are created in the editor.
  15. I am looking into editing the XML at the moment, but obviously you can't reload into the editor that way as the verification will be removed.
  16. In step 2, you have to activate the Europa League (and the other European Cups as well) and edit them. Most efficient way is by going through the various cup competitions. Don't see any more efficient way. You don't have to add new rules for every nation at first. First edit the Europa League and the other ones, test if it works in game. Btw, can you all say which nations you were editing, because I am wondering whether there is any logic behind them.
  17. Based on what the person name XML says, the grouping is based on local region. But first step would be to have that part visible in the editor. I need to check how I did that with ethnicity a while back (got stuck there though).
  18. Was nosing around in the XMLs a bit. Seeing some references to person name and newgen. No idea (yet?) how to add the person name item to the editor, but if that would mean influencing newgen names? That would be interesting.
  19. Because it is a BETA, it is unclear whether there is even an issue in FM, or it is just the BETA not working properly As long as it is a BETA, the SI devs can’t build a proper fix when needed. Rolling back is the only option if you want to continue and SI has offered support when that throws up errors. What more can do they do according to you?
  20. If you assign them to a team, they will be at the team. Say you make their birthyear 2020, they will start as 14 year olds, until you hit 2035. Then they will turn 15. However...., because they are a long time in the game, the game sometimes retires them at age 20 or something like that. It is unpredictable.
  21. Also make sure, as @rusty217 said, to have a Qatar league active as that will improve transfer activity.
