  1. In the meantime I am reading through the various nations for their competitions setup. The baseline here is that I want to setup competition in a very very basic form. Say I know the Mexican competition will be 16 teams, it will be a single round robin for 16 teams, just I can start setting up the international competitions in simple forms as well. This might sound as extra work, but usually I start basic rules to see how things run, issues with dates and teams not properly qualifying can easily be spotted like that. It is also a lot easier to get a start with things before you start renaming and everything as that takes up research time. While the game is running tests, you can then research, properly decide on the competition setup and decide on the teams and of course if you want to go really crazy, you can already research history
  2. Anyone can advice me a good kitcreator? I have some evil plans for Dutch clubs at the moment I am rewriting the watery history for the Netherlands to create Frisia, but that's mainly because it's too warm inside to edit and my holiday is still ongoing. No Frisia history coming out soon. I am first going to walk you through the steps of the Americas. As a matter of fact I have started testing some stuff there. The first thing is that I have removed all international tournaments (both club and nation), as I want to extinct a few nations (unless I am going to reuse them later on) and before I build the American continental cups, it's easiest to have them all deleted. I do it in such a way that I have a separate deletion file where all international tournaments are deleted. Whenever I start building a tournament, I will undo the delete in the deletion file and build the tournament in a different file. In the end the deletion file will itself be deleted as all changes are then in the files that I have created for regions and nations. So right now I am just running some tests to see if there are any competitions I missed (sometimes some international competitions for some reasons are linked at nation level). In the meantime I have also been doing some tests to see which nations uses which namebases. For now only in Oceania and I already have seen some surprising results. Kiribati, Wallis & Futuna and New Zealand could be reused in a different manner. Aotearoa will be there though.
  3. As you might have read in Miles Jacobsons’s latest blog, the timeline for women football is clear. Some of you will not care, some of you will care. What is clear though is a few things for the coming versions of FM, big change is coming. The game gets priority over the editor, so we can imagine time for FM25 editor changes might even more limited. Also, it is possible that because the engine chases some of the tooling changes as well. That means we need to be smart with our requests for the editor and go for small effort (on SI side) with big reward (for the editors. Normally I would forward everyone with ideas and suggestions section, but for now I want to have a discussion, which request can get us the most functionality while ensuring SI can do it with (what we assume) the least amount of effort. We have seen small incremental changes in the editor, some where I know they have been made based on threads created in the request section and women football will probably also bring some slightly bigger ones. It is up to us to try and see if we can make SI add to that. So get creative and think about, small effort changes in the editor with big rewards for us editors. I am very interested to see what you can come up with. Friendly reminder, keep it nice. Someone might have an idea that he/she/they think takes little effort, but is hard to do for SI. You can always say that, but keep the discussion civil please.
  4. No, in the end I went for a different solution, so didn't need to look into it any further.
  5. Ok, just as a check on these two players. Look up the ID of the pic of Shearer and Thurman and then look them up in the editor and check their ID there. If I am not mistaken both are created persons and not edited? Btw, is this the FM23 version of the MadScientist database?
  6. Where did you put the file? please specify the folder name
  7. Youth and reserve competitions are usually generated competitions and not pre-made, so the 1-0 trick can’t be applied well there.
  8. It’s a cursor problem which could be on your side or in the editor.
  9. Make sure to check it in game as well. While the testing function in the editor is useful it might not be doing everything correctly.
  10. It’s way too late here, but I drank too much cola so I can’t sleep. I am away for the weekend so can’t check my idea before Monday, but I think I might have a solution. It isn’t a pretty one, but could work. It’s based on what I thought out to fix an issue in FM22, which in the end turned out to be a different issue anyway. It would involve having to add a second file to your own build file though and could have some unintended side effects which I obviously haven’t been able to check yet. Step 1: is to delete the offending competition, so delete the Europa League from the competitions table. If my thought process is correct, the verification of your file should now work. Step 2: Ensuring that the Europa League is added back and is connected back into all European Leagues. Create a new file (so not a new version on your competition file!) Make sure that you have the European leagues available to edit in advanced rules. And make that ALL of them are there, Champions League, Conference League, Europa League, Super Cup. Now, create a copy of the existing Europa League competition. Make sure to make them exactly the same (a duplicate will normally not copy all exact data). Rename the original Europa League to Europa League Old and the new duplicate version to Europa League New Now comes the tricky part, you have to replace all references to Europe League Old with Europa League New, in all the European Cups. If you have done this, delete the Europa League Old and try to verify the file. When verified, rename Europa League New. This should not throw up an error (no guarantee btw…), but if an error is thrown up, you have all relevant competitions in one file to start problem hunting. This is obviously different to the situation in the competition file you fixed before. If everything works and is verified, you have quite a bit of testing to do. And yes, I do realise this is quite a bit of work, but this is complex stuff I am afraid. In the end there is one ‘but’ that can ruin the whole stuff (and that’s why I have added the quite a bit of testing), it could be that same national competition directly refer to the old Europa League via a link in one of their competitions. Then it’s a dead end. When I get home I hope I can check it myself, but let that not stop anyone who thinks it can helpen themselves forward.
  11. I think they are too small for that but then being connected and bigger or more populated is an option. Obviously the population will have to come from somewhere and that would have an effect on where the population disappeared. I think I start to have an idea
  12. No other nations yet that will be see their geography change like this. Unless the southern tip of Europe gets connected to Africa It still has to happen inside possibility parameters. The Waddensea getting filled up with sediment is a possibility, it is happening constantly, Zealand being expanded or winning back land there has been discussed as well. There was actually a day between Frisia and one of the islands before the Afsluitdijk was build, so there is room and information to play with
  13. Are you using other files with player changes next to it? That’s one of the reason that IDs could shift.
  14. Well, what if it was completely reclaimed land, or instead was never reclaimed (so no Flevoland and Almere City)? That's what I am looking at now.
  15. Sounds very familiar That was my pre-planning phase which must have started somewhere in 2017. Hope your pre-planning goes a bit quicker though! On the Frisian map, I am considering what to do with the Ijsselmeer and surrounding area.
  16. I am also looking at an alternative version at the moment. So things can still changes. It is the Americas afterall, the season format isn't final until the season has ended In the meantime I am puzzling away on European soil, but that's just hobby and setting some early boundaries. Might need some different mapping software for some nations The Netherlands might look very different and not because it has area added from neighbouring countries!
  17. I like the idea, although I am not entirely sure about the naming and shaming part as clubs will consider their stadium as part of 'intellectual property'
