  1. It weakens the defence a lot on paper, but if Walker isn't going to bother defending then why not?
  2. He's definitely dropped a level last 12-18 months, turned up in the big games but been generally poor for a while now. Beginning to think we should consider Trent at RB, I'm worried
  3. He's at fault for the goal as much as Stones is for me. He lets the player in behind him and he's slow to react to the ball past him. If we wanna play "let's not criticise England because it'll break there morale" then fine, but he's at fault for the goal. (who gaf about Ramsdale, won't play anyway... while Stones... well we don't have a choice do we)
  4. The midfield position is an open debate atm - goalkeeper/defence isn't. I think you're overreacting a bit tbh
  5. I really like the look of Mainoo, but at the same time I can't get over the number of shots United concede and think "he's playing in an area that's supposed to help negate that". I know United fans see him more as an 8 long term, but that's not what we need this tournament - we need someone to sit. If not, we might as well play Foden in midfield.
  6. Outside of Grealish, I think it's a mistake to leave Branthewaite home and could be costly. Left footed centre back so useful, especially when me might not have any left footed defenders on the pitch (depending on Shaw) Hope Wharton starts tonight, the more I watch of him the more brilliant he looks. Actually think he's a much better foil for Rice than Mainoo - there's still time.
  7. I wouldn't say it's on reputation, it's based on what he can offer in certain game states that other players cannot. My personal opinion is we've taken players who've had better seasons but will struggle to get on the pitch because there's not a game state that will warrant their use? They're just wasted squad slots. Grealish might have only played 2 30 minutes all tournament but he'd have been useful in those moments.
  8. I'm not here to argue for Grealish's inclusion, but maybe lets rewind on Southgate being brave in light of this comment
  9. Very surprised at Grealish, thought he was v good the other night and he ball retention is a very useful asset to have in certain circumstances. Hopefully it lights a fire under him next year though so all good with me.
  10. Grealish making all the goals lads, just saying...
  11. Wait a minute!? All those years Arsenal talked about having a gold trophy, and it wasn't even a full-sized one - it's a miniature Subbuteo cup instead?
  12. Hmmm.... I have doubts. Also, I love Gunman - genuinely good poster that adds something to the forum
  13. Sounds like Holland said he was crap at Werewolf, and he had a strop and walked out. It happens.
  14. Lampard? Gerrard? Carsley? Come on, these are all worse then Southgate. Maybe Southgate is just as weak domestically, but these guys at best will match Southgate's achievements (and probably do much worse)
  15. So we're backing Southgate? I mean, if it's not Potter, Howe or a foreign coach it's probably a step down isn't it?
  16. Agree, can't remember who made the point on twitter last night. But when Sven & Capello were managers it was a different era - almost a novelty to have foreign managers in England. It's now normal, we've got the team spirit we now need the best manager. That's why I'm happy to keep Southgate if push comes to shove because I'm fearing a worse English manager taking over.
