PMLF
Completely unnecessary provocation. The US FA shouldn't get involved with politics (let alone another country's politics and let alone their next opponent).
thomyorkessoul
What a shock that you are taking the side of authoritarians yet again. They should have been kicked out already.

Mahzun_Savas
I am sure no one supports the Iran regime and everyone should be supporting the protesters in Iran who are being extremely brave to stand up and protest. It is not clear that the Iranian player support the regime, Azmoun certainly doesn't and I doubt he is alone. However changing a coutries flag is probably not the best thing to do. PMLF
The main issue is the timing, why do it exactly when the USA is about to face Iran in this World Cup?
Confused Clarity
38 minutes ago, PMLF said: The main issue is the timing, why do it exactly when the USA is about to face Iran in this World Cup? BECAUSE the USA were about to face Iran. It says so right there in your tweet. This was to show solidarity to the protesters and the players against the regime. The current version of the flag represents the regime. They used a version of the flag that doesn't represent the regime. This isn't rocket science.

While the Iranian players support the protests, it seems Carlos Queiroz at least isn’t happy about press talking about it. themadsheep2001
PMLF really does love an authoritarian Carlos is still going on about it. Feels like he's moved from treading a fine line to being the regimes spokesman. Whether that's through some sort of coercion or his choice is up for debate

Tony85
He’s just desperately deflecting any negative questions about the regime. Maybe even given talking points by Iran about what to say back. Clearly values his pay and knows it needs signing off by the government.
