  1. That is the point of the whole discussion about the game being "easy". If managing Real Madrid is not a challenge, getting a midtable team to the top is not a challenge for the same reason, all of that beucase FM can't replicate the pressures of real football. Managing a big team should be harder in fact, due to pressure. Staying at the top should be hard. But, in the end, this a computer game. You have to win to get the feeling the game was worth your money, at least that is the case for many who buy it. I buy every version and almost never win trophies in my saves because to me it is a big turn off. I play the game to explore all the possibilities, which I find fun. It is like FM is a platform game but playing the single-player story is not fun anymore, so I find other game modes to play. Just a question: Do you guys, after winning the UCL, find any motivation to keep playing ? I'm asking that because there might be good reasons people can come up with to play FM, usually mine are testing tactics, developing players and watching the ME.
  2. I noticed the same. I've been loving the ME, but not only goals, also a lot of highlights come from throw-ins.
  3. Agree. And all these things you've mentioned that cloud their decisions will not be included in the game for obvious reasons. Football is a very complex sport, and the odds that you will not win are way higher for 99% teams on the planet. Even in big clubs it is hard to win, that's why you see teams like Real Madrid getting rid of Zidane after he won 3 UCL, selling Benzema after he won Ballon D'or, these are definitely very rational decisions that most clubs will not make. In FM, once you build a good team, it is not hard to keep winning, because the IA cannot compete the way real life clubs do. I'm Brazilian, here in Brazil you see more of these things you've mentioned like corruption, nepotism, politics, than ever. Some clubs have got more than 30 million supporters, more than many big european clubs, but can't attract as many quality players, attention, media coverage, etc. None of these things happen in FM, and that's fine because we want the game to focus on the management part of the sport. I don't even play FM in Brazil because football politics here is so bizarre and influentional that it is possible to make an entire game about brazilian football.
  4. You are right, one of the things that could be added, is something like "manager rank", where you start at a club without any power, but then gradually you are given more and more possibilities to recommend staff, the way managers like SAF did. That could even be what we expect in terms of adding difficulty to the game. Those who want a easier game, will have an option to access these "´powers" early on. But the reality is that making a super real game is really hard. Training, for instance, in FM is basically about improving attributes, which is okay. But training in real life is way more complex, and in real life managers don't have attributes to decide what player to buy, so they make many mistakes, while in FM it is hard to make mistakes when buying players if you know how to evaluate attributes and traits.
  5. I agree completely that FM is a complex game for new people to learn, but almost every simulator is. That is the purpose of simulators, they are not supposed to be so easy to master. I've played many, simulators are the only game-genre that appeals to me, and I found all of them hard to master. City building, Hospital building, etc.. some of them are even anoying to keep playing given the amount of problems that arise and you don't know how to solve. But that is something that comes with the genre. I dropped all the simulators and I only play FM, and it's not because I'm good and experient, since I was a newbie once as well. To me it is a paradox that you have the amount of Data that FM presents these days, way more detailed than it's ever been, but at the same time you don't even have to use the tools the game presents to win. It's as if these tools are there just to keep the game up to date with real football.
  6. What I find interesting about this thread is those complaining about people whining. Isn't the purpose of this thread to report anything we find unusual in the game ? Just because people "whine" it doesn't mean they think the game is broken. If the game was absolutely amazing, people wouldn't come here in the first place, they would be playing instead. The best way to praise SI is to play the game and not sit your ass here. If people come here, it is because they have reasons to report something that is making them uncomfortable. In the end we'll want the game to be better, and everybody knows how hard it is to make a game that will suit everybody's tastes, if not impossible, but FM24 seems to be easier indeed, there are countless evidences of that. I asked somebody to post here a midtable team doing well in a big league, and there you go, someone just won everything managing Brighton. I'm not much of a gamer, but I think the purpose of any game is to drive people into some feeling of accomplishment, and that can only be achieved with some sort of difficulty. FM is a simulator, saves are supposed to last, otherwise you wouldn't have newgens to replace real players. And for a game to last, it has to present challenges for you to overcome. People say "make the game harder then, play LLM or so". I don't like LLM. I like managing good players, I like watching the matches full time, I like players doing what I expect from them, and that can only be achieved managing teams in top leagues. If you like LLM that's fine, but the game should be challenging in the top leagues as well. For the record, I'm loving the ME, it is a beauty to watch the fluidity. But as soon as I see PSG buying Hlozek paying 80M and playing him 3 games in the season, not even as a substitute, I will complain.
  7. He's playing as real madrid, but the results seem to be off anyway. Apart from the 0-0 against City, he won all the games scoring 3 goals or more, including 5-1 home against City. The other teams in La Liga should offer some challenge as well, even though he's Real Madrid, you don't see in real life so many scorelines like the ones he presented in a row. Atl Madrid, Athletic Club should offer some resistance. Of course, we don't know his tactics and all, since he only posted a screenshot, but many people playing many leagues have been consistently saying the game is easier than the previous editions. We all might be wrong, not presenting enough data to prove the point, but I think this is a good discussion to have. We've seen in this thread people having too many great results in places like Netherlands, Australia, Spain, Latvia... I would like someone who manages a midtable team in a big league to post some results here as well, so we can see other examples and add further comments on them.
  8. This is bizarre, you've knocked juventus, bayern, man utd and liverpool! Not to mention how easy it must be playing the serbian league, how does one continue a save after performances like that ? Thank you for the screenshots
  9. Could you upload some screenshots for us to see ? I'm really curious about this. Maybe your results, the teams you've beaten in CL, your tactic, etc. 3 or 4 screenshots will do. Thanks in advance
  10. I usually play Bundesliga because I think it is the best league to play in the game, so I decided to start a save unemployed in Australia, got hired by Perth Glory and started to manage the team right after the Sydney FC game. That's what happened: I simply won all the games easily, just putting on a simple 433 tactic and simply pressing continue, not even watching the games properly. The last 4 games I got bored and went on holiday, finished the season and now I'm thinking whether I will keep playing or not. I mean, is the game now so easy ? Okay, it might be because I'm managing a team in a low level league like Australia, but I was unemployed, got the job and won the league! I like a lot of aspects of the game, but it seems so shallow now. Training has nothing to do with what training is about in real life, interactions are boring and you just have to find the right button to click to get the desired outcome, AI teams not properly built and managed.. I'm thinking about starting other saves or quiting Perth North and moving to a better league, but my Manager is probably not going to be hired in better leagues since I started unemployed and played only half a season, but how am I supposed to keep managing in Australia without any challenge ? Just in case, in real life Perth north is the second worst performing team on the league right now. How have I won the league ?
  11. I've noticed these restrictions regarding the roles as well. What I've been doing is choose more general roles (Attacking midfielder, Central midfielder, etc) and change the instructions as I like, but these specific roles usually have other instructions hardcoded that you can't change by using the general roles, and that is the problem. I remember few versions ago the ball-winning midfield with the instruction to get further forward was OP, then they blocked this instruction, but it seems to me that as they fix the roles by blocking instructions so they don't become OP, they also force you to find your way out to get your players to do what you want, which demands time and testing. I don't remember what the ME was like back in FM08, because I was younger and didn't play attentiously as I do these days, but since there were no roles, you could literally change everything in the players instructions (Mentality, Closing down, etc). I miss that in a way.
  12. I've watched all 3 goals in the last 5 matches, and in fact they came exactly from the areas this image show. But look, there were 2 assists from crosses and the other one was inside the penalty area, originated by a corner, that's okay. But the data shows that the assist came from corner taking, when actually the corner taking led to a player receiving the ball outside the area, moving into the area and passing to the striker to score, so the assist type was not a corner type of assist at all, unless the game considers that which is a flaw. Has anyone ever tested it ?
  13. That is true. Managing St pauli, I had Nicolas Siri scoring 21 gols in Bundesliga even though he is not a great striker, and he was young. He hasn't developed as I expected and I sold him, his career declined massively, he went to a 2nd division Mexican Club. Okay, this is not unusual (players having a great season and declining) but the point is, he is an average striker to score 21 gols in Bundesliga, and I manage St pauli, back then I was struggling to not get relegated. Look at his 2025/26 season, 34 games, 21 gols, an average striker playing for a club that had just been 1 season in Bundesliga. What seems to me, is that happiness and morale gives a boost to many players, it doesn't matter much their attributes. As long as they are happy, they will perform.
  14. The path is data hub -> team -> analysis report -> click on scoring -> and you have the goals/assists/position to choose from
  15. Well, I play 4-2-3-1, this is what I found: My AMC does score but like whatsupdoc said, it would be grea to be able to get an assist map.
  16. One of the evidences that prove what akkm said, is how difficult (if not impossible) it is to simulate what Thomas muller has done so much in professional football. He is not a technically gifted player, but he's got numbers that exceed what you expect from a player that "only" knows how to interpret space. He is the true definition of a professional footballler, because I think he would have a hard time playing street football or something, but he does supremely well in professional football because he is very smart in his decision-making and off-ball movements. You can't simulate in FM what he does in real world football, simply because the ME does not understand how he moves into spaces to create chances for himself and his teammates. FM tried to create the role "raumdeutter" to simulate what he does, but it doesn't come near the complexity of his way of playing football. I mean, he's not a creative player like Ozil, De Bruyne, but you could see how many assists he gave to Lewandowski and how it rarely happens in FM the way he does in real life. This is just an example, but there are countless worth mentioning, like the way Riquelme played, retaining the ball, using his body to protect the ball and attract the opposition, this is something you don't see in FM. I don't expect the game to be perfect, I keep playing it gladly, but I think this game would jump to a whole new level if the ME could simulate how football works in the middle of the pitch and how specific players behave differently.
  17. How often do you see that in FM ? I like to test the game, when I wanna win I simply put on a 433 tactic with an attacking CM and he will score lots of goals. I like to play 4231 because it is a difficult tactic to master, and I've already had my ACM performing like 10 gols, 10 assists in 35 games, that is not a problem at all. (Achieved that with Baumgartner managing Hoffenheim). The problem is how he scores the goals and assists his teammates. It is usually through balls coming from the flanks, not the middle, even though he is a AMC. You don't see your team building up play in the opponent's side without the move ending up in a cross that results in goals. Man city scores a lot this way, that's okay, but you see Arsenal creating lots of chances through the middle, which is hard to do in FM, even though you have the proper players to do so. I mean, I've been playing FM since FM06, I'm an experienced player and I love the game, but sometimes I just feel one has to fight against the ME to achieve an specific type of playing. Not to mention the problem with Full backs being in line with the wingers without doing anything at all, it feels like the ball has to reach a certain space on the pitch so that the Full backs are "activated".
  18. Who is saying the game is broken ? It is just a fact. De Bruyne more than 20 assists in Premier League. I think Ozil did the same with arsenal some years ago. Of course, these players are top players, but that happens IRL more than in the game, that is the point. Meanwhile you have players assisting from set pieces without having the technique to do so. I'm currently playing in Australia, of course a low level league. My corner taker is my central defender, because I forgot to pick the right one. Turned out he gave already 5 assists from corner taking and I'm just letting him do the job now
  19. Just to add to the discussion on AMCs, here's my AMC. Of course he's young and he's not physical at all, but he is definetely a specialist for making assists as a number 10. I tried many roles and instructions, and only got him to score by using an attacking role, but I never got to make him give assists that one expects from a number 10 (ie. assists from outside the box). I was so desperate to get him to provide assists that I successfully trained him as a Full back and he indeed makes amazing passes and crosses in this position. He even got the traits to cross like an elegant full back hahahaha. He is only 21 years old and I wish I could get him to play like a Riquelme, a Alex, a Zidane, whatever, because that is something I've been trying to do in the last few FM versions but never been successfull to accomplish.
  20. This whole thing about Full backs having so many assists is absolutely true. In my FM23 save with St Pauli I can see many of them reaching between 20~30 assists per season, but I think I chose to ignore to enjoy the game more (which is something I do often but should not). I play 4231 and got my AMC to perform better by choosing support role with individual instructions, but still he can't reach the amount of assists that Full backs can in the game, which is kinda weird. I haven't tested a tactic like 4-1-2-1-2 with a fast full back (like thierry, frimpong etc) but I can see that it probably will result in many assists for a full back this fast.
  21. I was one who got extremely disappointed with the game prior to this update, but I must say that I'm now impressed. Ok, I played only 2 months and focused on spotting ME issues, and I found none worth mentioning! I have not seen woodwork ball hiting often, goals are now being scored in many different ways, my team is defending better, and all of these tests I made watching games completely. At the beginning I was worried about the players rushing forward like someone pointed out earlier in this topic, but I made tweaks, reduced mentality and tempo and I saw great build up play! Think I'll be able to create my long term save now, and I'll focus on building a defensive tactic up until the next patch to test it out. Probably the game will get even better, but I think it is worth praising SI when they need to be praised.
  22. I often visit this forum but rarely post. I'm 52 now, been playing manager games since CM 01/02 and never felt so disappointed with a full release. Tbh, the direction this game is heading is depressing me, and I don't even care about the money I spent because I really appreciate having such a great manager game throughout these years. One of the things that I adore about FM is I can create so many obstacles to make it a hard and fun game, and the freedom to do whatever I want definitely makes me love FM more than any other game. I loved FM23 despite some issues, to me the best version ever, played my best saves and I feel now I'll be back to it since I don't think FM24 will hold to my expectations. The IA in this game is completely ridiculous, I ported my St Pauli save from FM23 and simply won Bayern without them even creating chances, they even had Wirtz playing as a winger! My god, I usually buy players that are far below the capacity I have money to buy, just to make the game more difficult, and then FM24 provides me with the easiest AI to beat I've ever seen! I really think this game is becoming more and more arcade, which frustrates me a lot. I hope I'll be wrong in the near future, I hope they fix these many related bugs because my mind is telling me that they will screw it up even more with FM25. I'll wait a little bit more but really considering coming back to FM23 and stick to it to death.
