  1. All of a sudden I lost interest in my final FM 23 save and that can mean only one thing - Beta is coming tonight!
  2. Nice one! I think about starting an Ajax save too so I'll definitely follow this.
  3. FM and a football match on TV in the background is the perfect scenario for me. I even like to play a save with the same team that plays on the TV at this time to add more immersion to my game, as I tend to have multiple saves with different clubs that I like (besides my main journeyman save). If there is no football game then I usually watch my favourite football channel on YouTube.
  4. And if I remember correctly you play with multiple managers at the same time? It must go so slow for you! But still, respect!
  5. I did some research and found out that Welsh 2nd tier seems to be the default European league with the lowest reputation. I think about starting with Swansea Uni which is a fully amateur team - do you think it will be more challenging than starting with the worst team of Vanarama North/South? I just want to start at the lowest possible level to keep it as realistic as it can be
  6. Hi, I'm about to start a new journeyman save at the lowest possible level, so my question is - what's the weakest team from the weakest European playable league? I don't mean custom leagues as I don't want to use any of them, I'm talking about the leagues that are in default database. I used to start with a vanarama teams but I think there should be some leagues and teams with even lower reputation?
  7. 2023-24 - PRE-SEASON The pre-season has started and the first good news is that I've completed my National A License and have already started the next course. My reputation has grown a bit too so it's fair to say that my managerial career goes in the right direction. Our National League fixture has been released and our campaign will kick off on Gallagher Stadium in Maidstone. The board has presented their expectations towards this season and our transfer and wage budgets. Now we can start completing the squad that will help us to avoid the relegation. The team obviously needs a lot of improvements, but I tend to be careful with signings in order to keep our finances healthy. I have no experience on the market as we went through the last season without a single transfer, but this time we cannot take such risk and we must bring some better players to stay up. It's nice to finally have some budget and we will definitely try to use it in a proper way. First of all, I had to choose our captains for the upcoming campaign and I've decided not to change anything in this area. Giorgio Rasulo, unarguably our best player, will remain the captain. And Jack Harding, our main goalkeeper and the club's long-serving legend, will be kept as the vice-captain. Fortunately, we managed to extend contracts for all our best players, and the rest who were assessed as not good enough for the higher division were released. Our first signing ever is Aaron Bott, a young and talented goalkeeper who will hopefully learn a lot from Harding and eventually take up his place as the first choice goalkeeper. The second free signing is Jordan Windass, a versatile defender who can cover both left and right side of the defense. We still have some budget left and now we need to focus on finding a left wing-back, a centre-back, and two wingers/inverted wingers. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- FRIENDLIES In our friendly games we kept practicing the same fluid counter-attack tactic that brought us to success last year. The results were not very optimistic, but no need to panic yet.
  8. ARSENAL WINS THE PREMIER LEAGUE! The 2022-23 season was special not only for myself and Banbury United's fans, but also for Arsenal as they have won their first Premier League title since 2004. What is more, they repeated the success in the Europa League as they have won that competition too. As an Arsenal fan, I couldn't ask for more. In Arteta we trust! My second favorite team's season (Barcelona) wasn't that great as they had to recognize the superiority of Real Madrid, who smashed not only La Liga, but also the Champions League. Please see the full set of results in the most important European leagues for 2022-23. ------------------------------ Coming back to Banbury, there was elections and the new chairman has been chosen. Rowan Coleman has replaced Ronnie Johnson.
  9. WE HAVE WON THE LEAGUE! Well, to be perfectly honest, our rivals have done it for us... While we needed just a point in order to secure the title without hoping for a positive result on another stadium, we had unquestionably the worst performance of the season and lost to Scarborough 0-4. Fortunately, Chorley played equally terrible and were defeated by Gloucester. Actually, they lost all their last three games, and if they had won at least one of them - they would get ahead of us. So much luck, but it doesn't make us less happy anyway! 2022/23 - SUMMARY OF THE SEASON We had a fantastic season. Who would predict that an unknown and inexperienced manager could win the league with a newly promoted team? I didn't even dream of it, my best hope was to finish in the top 10 or maybe around the playoff places. No wonder I have been named the best manager of the season! Please see the summary below. As you will see, the average rating of our players wasn't that great as only Giorgio Rasulo managed to exceed 7.0. This shows that we didn't really smash the league but just took advantage of the poor season the front-runner teams had. There is plenty of work ahead of us to avoid relegation next year, but we can't wait to start!
  10. ONE GAME TO GO - CAN WE REALLY WIN IT? April started with a win in Gloucester, but then we had a terrible home game against Peterborough Sports. We were 1-0 at the half time, but then our rivals evened the score and soon after they got another goal. We managed to equalize and we tried to go for a win, but the guests were very effective in their counter attacks and knocked us out with 3 goals, winning 5-2. Despite earning only 7 out of possible 12 points, we remained at the top of the table and we need just one point in the last game to secure the title... Wow! Meanwhile, our annual youth intake has arrived and to be honest, it doesn't look very promising. ------------------------ @TheGoodRebel yes, we are still using the fluid counter attack presented at the beginning, the only adjustment I did was to change a role of my "six" from a defensive midfielder to a ball winning midfielder.
  11. February & March The next few weeks went well, we started February with two wins, including a fantastic performance against Kidderminster. Then, however, we had two unlucky defeats in games where we were leading. Fortunately, our rivals have been very inconsistent and thanks to this, plus our strong run in March, after 41 games we are on the top of the league! --------------------------------------------- New contract offer On March 30th the board have offered to extend my contract, which was expiring at the end of the season. They said I'm doing an unbelievable job and clearly I'm the right manager for the club. As I really love working at Banbury and can't imagine being anywhere else, I didn't set any special conditions and asked only for a small increase in my wage (from 3.8k per month to 4k). The chairman has accepted this immediately. In the meantime, I gained my National B License badge and already started the consecutive course.
  12. Thanks for the reply, but I don't think so as I've played with big teams on different saves and there wasn't any issues there, plus I've got a brand new laptop which should more than enough for FM (Acer nitro 5). Also I play in 2d.
  13. Has anyone experienced match stuttering when attending match of other team? I manage Banbury and all my games go perfectly smooth, then I attended world cup semi final and final and during the games match engine was stuttering heavily... When I came back to my Banbury games all was smooth again.
  14. January results Some good performances recently, including beating our biggest rivals Brackley Town twice in a row. 16 games to go - can we really push for the promotion?
  15. I got my first badge! Getting my first badge made me happy, but I was even more happier that our form has slightly improved over the last weeks. We earned 12 out of possible 21 points, including a draw in a hard game against Chorley (the leaders) by coming back from 1-3 to 3-3. The fact we were eliminated from FA Trophy didn't bother me at all as now we can fully focus on the league. We are halfway through the season and we sit on the 6th place in the league, which is great, but there are still so many games to play that I don't get my hopes up towards being in the play-offs. ------------------------------ What's going on outside of my team? The World Cup has ended. In the final, Portugal beat England 1-0 thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's early goal. Poland became the biggest surprise as they reached the semi-final where they lost to the future champions, with Lewandowski becoming the best goal scorer.
  16. START OF THE SEASON My managerial debut went amazingly as we demolished Curzon Ashton at their own stadium! Then, my first home game ended with a 0-0 draw which I was happy about as we were playing with 10 as one of our players was given a red card in the first half. Finally, we had another great performance when we easily beat Boston. A very promising start I must say! Our form in the next weeks was not bad at all, we had some great performances and lost only once. I was very happy that we managed to go through the first two qualifying rounds of the FA Cup as this is a very prestigious competition in which I'd like to go as far as possible. In the next round we were facing Solihull Moors and while I knew it would be a tough game, I still believed we could make a surprise there. However, this game showed me that the difference between Vanarama North and the National League is bigger than I expected... What's even worse, during the match we lost our primary wing back who got injured for about a month. Unfortunately, it was only the beginning of our bad luck as in the next league game another important player - striker Henry Landers, was out of the game due to injury. I blame the injury issues on our poor form in the next 5 games where we won only once. FIRST 20 GAMES PLAYED - SUMMARY Despite our drop of form recently, both me and the board are very happy with my first 4 months in charge. The local media also have mostly positive opinions on my performance, as below: Here is how the league table looks at the moment. I still don't expect us to be in the play-offs, my aim is to finish in the first ten as it would be a nice start to our development. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's going on outside of my team? As an Arsenal fan, I keep following how Arteta's boys are doing in the Premier League. And they look pretty good!
  17. First weeks at the club At my first day as the Manager I learned the board's expectations towards this season and the following years. They want us to finish mid-table in the league which is a bit surprising for me considering the fact we are a newly promoted team, but, on the other hand, I like their ambition! In the next weeks we have been working on our main tactic which at the start of the season will be Fluid-Counter-Attack. I wish we could play an attractive tiki-taka already but I'd rather be careful and see how good we are with the ball first. The tactic is basically the default one, let's see how it works and then we may do some adjustments here and there. Please also take some time to meet my assistant - Craig Pead. He's been here since 2010, so he knows everything about the club. For now, he will be the one responsible for training. I may take control over this later, but I haven't made my decision yet. And I've got some good news - the board has accepted my request for starting a coaching course with the aim of gaining my first badge. The pre-season is over, here is how we performed in the friendlies: My managerial debut is close!
  18. Hi, Welcome all to this thread where I will be presenting my Zero to Hero save. I'm not much of a writer so don't expect anything special, but I will try to make it as interesting as possible, plus looking nice and tidy. To be honest, I've decided to create a topic here mostly to keep me motivated to stick to this save as I've been pretty inconsistent lately. Plus, I can practice my English which is always a good thing (I'm not a native speaker so please forgive me any writing mistakes). Save Idea When it comes to FM, my dream has always been to create a unique football world within my save, which means to focus not only on what my team does, but also on other players, clubs, nations, and competitions around the world. I've always wanted to know which country is the current World champion, who is the best player of the year, etc., but then I never really took time to monitor these type of things. But this time it must be different! I'm going to play in a slow pace and make sure to be well informed about what's going on around me, I even think of going to watch some games during the World Cups or Champions League knockout stages. Obviously, I want you to be on the top of the things too, so my updates shall include some information from around the world as well. I want this save to be as realistic as possible. I want to have a proper managerial career, hence I will start in the lowest available English league with no badges and Sunday League experience. I want to climb the ladder of the football world so I will be moving to other clubs, but I don't want to rush things - the ideal scenario is to achieve something with my current team and only then, when the time is right, to move higher. I place a high value on loyalty so I'm not going to look for other jobs when I'm under contract elsewhere. Also, each of the decisions I make will be based on what I'd do in real life, for instance I will pay attention to my wages, to a city the club is situated, etc. I know the most realistic thing to do would be to start unemployed, but I don't really like the idea to get a random club. I must feel some kind of sympathy for a team, like their badge and kits, or anything. You will learn my team soon. I've loaded 30 leagues from 14 countries, medium database, 1st transfer windows off. The ultimate goal is to eventually get a job in my favorite club Arsenal London and become the club's legend. Then, to repeat it in with my second favorite team - FC Barcelona. And to become the best manager in the world, of course. As it is supposed to be a realistic managerial career, the obvious rules are: - no cheating - no editor files - use only own tactics The Manager Please meet Michael Soprano, a 30 yo English manager who was born and raised in North London. I loved football since childhood, but the passion became even stronger in the 2003-04 season when... well, we all know what happened then. Yes, thanks to The Invincibles team I became a huge Arsenal fan just at the age of thirteen. I fell in love with the beautiful way Arsene Wenger's team was playing and my favorite player was Thierry Henry. I was very sad when the Frenchman decided to leave the club, but at least he went to another team that was close to my heart - FC Barcelona. Not long after that, The Catalans led by Pep Guardiola (my role model among managers), introduced to the world another form of attractive football - the famous Tiki-Taka. Like many other supporters around the world, I became a big fan of this new brand and I figured this is the way football should be played. I didn't have enough quality to became a professional player but I always knew I want to be in football. I dreamed to be like Wenger or Guardiola one day. So, when I was twenty I got my first part-time job in an amateur club near London where I trained youngsters. I got several other jobs like that later on. Then, when I was twenty seven, I was finally given my first real job in football - I became an U-18 coach in Banbury United. During this time I proved my coaching skills, gained trust and sympathy of the board, and became a fundamental part of the club. In the middle of June 2022 I received an unexpected call from the Banbury's chairman. I arrived at the club's facilities and heard that the first team's manager, Andy Whing, had to quit the job due to personal reasons. As there was no other candidate and the money at the club was tight, the chariman asked me if I can take the job. I didn't hesitate even for one second and signed the contract five minutes later. Will I succeed? Nobody knows. The journey starts now. The Team Banbury United Football Club is a football club based in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England. They are currently members of the National League North and play at the Spencer Stadium.
  19. Where can I find club legends, icons, and favourite personnel besides the club info tab? I'm using a skin where club info lacks it and I still would like to have access to it somewhere
  20. Not sure if it's a bug or I'm doing something wrong, but I manage Kettering (in the third season now), been using the same tactic for this whole time, but my tactic familiarity one time shows as minimum, and then as almost maximum. Anyone experienced this?
  21. Brilliant, thank you! I've been waiting for this to finally start my long term save.
  22. Thank you. So assuming the data lock was on 26th I think we can expect the update somewhere in the middle of May.
  23. Any source? I've checked multiple sites and they all say 4.14.
