Thanks Lewis89, I was expecting the national side part of it to be a bit boring, but I'm finding it the most exciting part at the moment! Shame about the International League qualification, I'm still not quite sure of the rules there. An international tournament will have to wait! I don't know what it is with the cup! I'm putting out a decent team in it too. Fingers crossed for next season...

Congrats Skidz1892, looks like things are going well for you! Do you have a shot of Maurizio Albani, he sounds like he's quite a player? Is he Sammarinese?  Enjoy the extra Champions League money next season.

Yeah its been a really enjoyable part for me too. Taking over all 3 squads for the next round of qualification will be a slog at times, but im hoping it works in my favour.

    San Marino Challenge - Season 7 (Serie A) 24/25

    Club overview

Despite finishing third, this was a pretty terrible season. We have a good squad now and should be challenging for the title, not scrambling for CL qualification. None of our players really performed and there were some quite horrible results despite hammering teams on paper. It's safe to say the new stadium hasn't helped with only 3/12 wins since moving in.

    1503924693_ScreenShot2019-04-15at23_08_44.thumb.png.1b7419e0cd44c5f5333ba88b78fd3b42.png

We navigated our way through our CL group with ease but pulled Chelsea in the first knockout round and lost 3-1 on aggregate.

Again, woeful in the Italian Cup. We lost in the first round at home to Fiorentina. I think we've only got through this round once or twice since the beginning of the challenge!

Roma. 0 points. 8-3 on aggregate. It's getting annoying now. At least they didn't win the league.

    Finance, facilities and transfers

We're nearly there in terms of upgrades. Only training and youth facilities to be upgraded before we have a perfect set up all round. We're not selling out our 17,069 seater stadium yet, so I'm holding off asking for expansion until we're close. Finances are very good now. We're classed as rich and I have a healthy transfer budget of £44.5m to spend next year (although I doubt I'll spend anywhere near that).

    Youth intake

Probably the worst intake I've had overall. We did have one good player come through who goes straight into the national team, but the rest were tripe.

    2106760943_ScreenShot2019-04-15at23_22_56.thumb.png.6ba5351ca1a3b958424d5b5856dd6724.png

    Next season

I really want to win the league. Top four is the only thing I'd usually want, but after the s**t I had to endure last season I really want to come out on top. QF of the Champions League would be nice, but I'm not sure we'll compete if we get through our group again. I wouldn't be too disappointed to finish third and have a run in the Europa League. I want to win the Italian Cup too, I'm sick of getting knocked out early.

    National overview

Finally, something to shout about! We topped our International League!

    640418345_ScreenShot2019-04-15at23_31_32.thumb.png.ee6e4080d3b935fa43bf0cf226eb8351.png

I thought we'd have a chance, but we really excelled! We're now 159th in the world and regularly beating sides above us in the rankings. I hope to be inside the top 150 soon. I think by topping the group we'll enter the playoffs for the Euros...

Nicely done with the national side, correct me if im wrong but i think 2026 is a world cup year though, so dont think you will get a Euro's play off spot.

I feel your pain Italian cup wise, im 16 seasons in and yet to win it. Only thing that hasnt been won club wise :seagull:.

  3. National Team Update 2033

    2034 World Cup Qualifiers

    20190407222357_1.thumb.jpg.7d6d4ff7a45a69a5a4b8d303d55cc9d6.jpg     20190407164946_1.thumb.jpg.4d96f8a64956a25bb9ef67b524505873.jpg

As mentioned in my post just after the draw I knew we had little chance of qualifying from this group and we eventually achieved the aim of 3rd place. Luxembourg and Azerbaijan were easy games, whilst the 2 wins over Scotland were big results for us. In the end, Poland and Croatia were just too strong though. I am satisfied with this, and feel we are only a few players away from a real shot at qualifying for a finals.

    Current Squad

    20190407223511_1.thumb.jpg.804f67b5955a7a8687455ecebc2d6c47.jpg

Its a good team, but there are some major flaws. The defence is not the best, and we could really do with some star quality up front. Our midfield is pretty solid, with Biordi 28a, Gatti23a and Berto 27a all excellent players.

    End Of Year Best 11

    20190407222813_1.thumb.jpg.27b8558cb06b0a3dad34435c0fbc12c4.jpg

This has always confused me, we have not played that formation for about 2 years now, so not sure why the best 11 is set that way. We play a 4231 with a Cam., and somehow our cam is only on the bench, even though he has been immense for us. Mirco Nanni 30a was my pick of the bunch. 10 games, 4 goals for the exciting 19 year old winger. He is really starting to flourish now, and he will be a star of the future.

    Overall Best 11

    20190407222811_1.thumb.jpg.7812495ed54b8a0b80f4b8fd26fac269.jpg

Again a formation that hasnt been used in years.

    Retirement

In one of the most frustrating moments of the save so far, defensive stalwart Nicolo Giorgetti 21a (117caps) decided to retire from international football at the grand old age of 29. This is a huge blow for us, he was by far the best Cb available, and with no other real quality there at the moment, we need to develop someone to replace him.

    Rankings

    20190407164957_1.thumb.jpg.d82b80289b4e641e630778a20a60a28b.jpg     20190407223753_1.thumb.jpg.bad3741e0b306425c2fa4b9edc2ce38d.jpg

Currently sat 78th, sandwiched between Qatar and Iraq, I feel this is pretty harsh, but then the highest ranked side we have beat is Scotland whoa re ranked 53rd. Maybe some friendlies against sides in the top 50 would help.

    Other News

I have decided to take full control of the U21s and U19s. We are 16 seasons in and both sides have failed to qualify for any major finals. We haven't even came close yet and I think that's got to change if I want any real success at senior level. I am also taking charge of the club sides U20s side to try and push this on abit further. What prompted this was after another dissapointing campaign, the u19s boss resigned and rather than look for a new manager, I thought id give this a try. Then realised the u21s would be taking mostof the players I wanted to use for my first game so have decided to pick all 3 squads. I will be using the IR button for these two sides games, but am hoping to try and bring through a group of youngsters that will eventually star for the senior side.

    U21s

    20190407224158_1.thumb.jpg.207e955f35f9f165d61c8ac631b3e507.jpg

    20190407224200_1.thumb.jpg.d8fbf444160fa580a6fb8cc3e287155c.jpg

now im not overly sure if its the right time to do this, as we are not blessed with the greatest crop of youngsters atm, I just feel we should be doing better than we at this level. And by taking charge of the club sides u20s, can try to build a squad mentality throughout the teams. Fabbri 33a is the best prospect not currently in the senior team, and even though he has scored 3 in 4 for seniors, is going to be dropped back as he is still very raw.

  4. Nov 2033 Quick Update

We have just managed what for me is a huge milestone along the way to completing this challenge. After our dismal collapse last season left us with only Europa League football to play this season, I knew our squad was going to be way too strong for the group stages of said competition. So from the out set, I was going to use these games to give back up players and promising youngsters some first team game time. Having done so for the first 4 games (4 wins), on the 5th game I decided to field a full HG Sammarinese 11, and to devastating effect.

    The Great San Marino Challenge

The Goal - To Win The World Cup with International Minnows San Marino

The San Marino challenge entails taking international football minnows San Marino to the top with a World Cup victory. This seems impossible however San Marino has an ace up it's sleeve. San Marino Calcio is a club based in San Marino that plays in Italy's Serie D. Getting this club promoted to Serie A and investing heavily in youth facilities, junior coaching and youth recruitment should see higher quality Sammarinese players produced leading to a better national team.

    Rules and Instructions

Serie D is not in the original game database. To be able to take control of San Marino Calcio you MUST download an editor file which includes Serie D. This is the one I have used but I cannot vouch for its quality as of yet. There are multiple ones on the workshop you can use, I don't know which work perfectly.

To have the option to manage the San Marino National Team you MUST select custom for database size and then go to nations, San Marino and make sure "load all players of nationality" is ticked or you'll be unable to take control of the National Team. Must be done when selecting leagues at the start of the game.

Do not cheat with the use of ingame editor, genie scout etc. Spoils the achievement.

That is all, hopefully some of you decide to take up the challenge, it's a long one!

@potbellypigs the bit in bold explains it better than i just did.

  6. San Marino Domestic League Update

We are just about to start the 16th season of the save, so thought i'd have a look into the domestic league and see how its progressed in the 15 years.

    20190327122744_1.thumb.jpg.b94105ca1d742f872e93625cecf39ef2.jpg     20190327122935_1.thumb.jpg.b0450f6b3346a2ebf3c4e72c66b9a3fa.jpg

Ranked 85th in the European League Rankings is pretty good considering when the game starts its around the 200 mark. We have 2 new stadiums at 5000+ seats and SP Cailungo are due to move into a 7000+ seater in 2034. The league has 3 professional sides, 8 semi-pro sides and 4 amateur sides. No team has yet to qualify for a group stage of any European Competition as yet though.

  7. Season 2033/34 Preview

    Expectations

    20190326235029_1.thumb.jpg.e1933ce902f7eff840589565bb531e1b.jpg     20190327115928_1.thumb.jpg.58cb081e691e8fb2ec44c8cc919ea31e.jpg

Not quite as low as I wanted it to be, but in all honestly, we should be challenging for the title, let alone just finishing in the top 4. The bookies have us predicted to finish 2nd, although they are very rarely right on this game, it is a slight indication of how strong our squad is.

    The Squad

    20190327120845_1.thumb.jpg.bcd1bc7b7646e54f324695c160c88a2b.jpg     20190327120854_1.thumb.jpg.13340328407830494d966ef55afcbeb8.jpg

We sold a few back up players, but haven't lost anyone of any real importance. A couple asked to leave as they want to play in the Champions League, told them to stay and we will qualify, they agreed to stay. We have however promoted a few youngsters from the youth sides. We have a total of 14 HG players in the first team, with 8 being San Marino eligible, 2 having already been capped by Italy, and 3 Italian only HG players. We did also make 1 signing, I needed a back up keeper, and former youth product Lorenzo Moretti 20b was stuck on the Napoli bench. I thought rather my bench than theirs.

    Loaned Out

    20190327121821_1.thumb.jpg.c949315da0ac3a043e70528baba50df3.jpg     20190327121329_1.thumb.jpg.0bae3141e7ab2ac9e7184cf490b96f73.jpg      20190327121335_1.thumb.jpg.0b970ebe68dd4105e31ac6813f61c35b.jpg

The aim through the save has been to retain any San Marino eligible players, and even if they are not good enough for the first team, to then get them loaned out to teams so they can play first team football and possibly develop as much as possible. That way they are match fit for when the national side has games and obviously means better players for the national side. The best 2 of the bunch are LB Alex de Angelis 32b and ST Riccardo Stefanelli 31a. On loan at Sampdoria and Fc Bari, both have been promised roles as key players, so for their personal development, they should both be very good loan moves. Steffanelli 31a has so far refused a call up with the hopes of playing for Italy, De Angelis 32b already has 6 caps and will be a fixture in the National side for years to come.

@Lewis89 Great stuff so far, really enjoying to read your achievements!! Have you thought about trying the San Marino league?? That's my plan. I'm going to try to win Serie A, the Italian Cup and the Champions League with San Marino. Once I've done that, or if I get fired, I'll be going to the San Marino League. Might help a bit more with the NT as well.

cheers, enjoying reading yours and everyone else's progress. Its good there is a few of us doing the challenge.

I did add a manager in about 5 seasons ago, took over San Giovanni in the domestic league, but where i started the save on the beta, the add on was flawed. The league was not generating any prize money or TV money and it has put me off managing there. The domestic league has progressed massively though, ill do a little update on it in a moment. Have you thought about taking on the national team job yet?

  9. Club Update Season 2032/33

    20190326213853_1.thumb.jpg.dc34e6228ada199db42ffc663d1a0368.jpg

I dont think it would be exaggerating when I say this has been the clubs worst season for some time. We imploded after the January break, and ended up finishing 5th, missing out on the Champions League. We also lost in every competition but the Club World Cup. I really dont know what went wrong, we never had any long term injuries, or anything like that, it was just poor performances from some usually excellent players. Admittedly we haven't signed anyone for 2 seasons now, and that showed this season. The only positives I can think that can come from such a poor season are Lower expectations next season meaning I can play some more youngsters without having to win the league and we never managed to win the Europa League so next season gives us a chance to add that maybe. I still don't want to revert to signing anyone, but if too many players want to leave due to the lack of Champions League next season then I may have to, just to avoid getting the sack.

In what was a poor season Righi 26a won player of the season after hitting a career high 37 goals with 25 coming in the league. He has 87 goals in 145 games, sadly hes been capped for Italy and is lost to the national side.

Interestingly thats basically our first 11 now with the exception of N. Zanellatto in the CM position. You can see Goal scoring GK Paolo Ceravolo 25c has scored 36 career goals. Aged 24, I should get another 10 years out of him, I would love him to get 100 career goals. He still isnt a lost cause as far as the national side goes, hes won 4 caps for Italy, but all have been in friendlies, he still refuses to switch nationality though so I kinda expect to never be able to play him.

    Aims For Next Season

I am stuck in between two philosophy's for next season. Depending on the boards expectations, I may go as low as possible, maybe something like qualify for Europa League or something, get rid of a few big earners and promote the most promising Sammarinese youngsters into the first 11 and really focus on the development of players who can push the national side on. This is the one I am most tempted to go with, we have completed all the club side goals in the challenge after all.

Or do I aim big and try to wrestle back the league, this will probably involve signing some new stars as we could do with them based on the way we flopped this season. We could do with a CB and with no real talent in the youth ranks, it wont exactly be stifling the development of any youngsters.

  10. 2033 Youth Intake Day

Stefano Fabbri 33a looks a decent little prospect. We have a couple of potentially good strikers who are dual nationality, but he is Sammarinese only thankfully. His personality and determination are rubbish so that needs some working on, but he will instantly become the player I look to develop next. We also have Giacomo Vannucci 33b who looks like someone we can develop, he not going to be anything special, but we need centre backs for national side.

This is a tough group. Azerbaijan and Luxembourg should be a easy 12 points, Scotland we can take points off maybe but Poland and Croatia are going to be tough games. Polands first 11 have players from mainly the big European clubs and Croatia are a really good side. We finished 2nd in Euro Qualifying but I would be quite happy with 3rd in this group.

    San Marino Challenge - Season 6 (Serie A) 23/24

    Club overview

A solid season in the league. I didn't expect us to push for the title again, but ended giving Juve a respectable challenge. We could've finished top or fourth with about five games to go, but managed second place. Looking forward to the extra CL money coming in again next season!

    1184692022_ScreenShot2019-03-15at11_24_19.thumb.png.bf354eecf3c6f4a0c14cd5748c336c8d.png

We did better than I thought in the CL. We managed to top a strong group against Galatasary, Benfica and Monaco. It went down the final fixture and we could've easily ended up in the EL knockout stages, but a 3:3 home result against Monaco secured us top spot.

Another poor run in the Italian Cup. We were dumped out in the QF with a 4:0 away loss to Palermo. I hope to do better than that next season!

Still only two points from the Roma fixtures.I haven't forgotten and I'm still wanting revenge...

    Finance, facilities and transfers

More upgrades completed and more on the way! The club is comfortably rich now so the board have no problem upgrading all areas when I make the requests. We've sold a couple of youngsters we've had a few seasons for huge profits (most notably Mateo Pérez, who went to Arsenal for £35m after signing him for £525k two seasons earlier). We currently have excellent training facilities, good youth facilities, exceptional junior coaching and extensive youth recruitment. We're also due to move into the new 17,069 seater stadium at the start of next season. I'll be surprised if we don't sell it out and end up expanding it at the first opportunity.

    Youth intake

Another few nice players coming through again. De Angelis (single nationality) should be a solid RB for a good few years for the national team. He might also be the smallest player I've ever had! Andreini (also single nationality) is also going to be useful as RM in internationals. I'll try and give these two some time from the bench to help them develop. Giacobbi and Zanin are duel nationality and are refusing call-ups. That's five players in that position now.

    Next season

Challenge for the title and try to get to the QF of the CL. Semis of the Italian Cup would be nice too.

We have a lot of good young players now so there's no reason we can't become a very strong team over the next few years.

    National overview

We finished second from bottom in our Euro Qualifying group with just three points. A single 3-0 win against Latvia ensured we didn't finish bottom (we ended up with a better goal difference than them).

We've won our last four friendlies in a row now. Malawi (149), Haiti (81), Oman (91) and Jordan (103). We beat Malawi 6-0 and Jordan 6-1.

Also, have I mentioned Elia Tomassini? 22 goals in 40 appearances now...

    Question...

Has anyone had a player reverse their decision to reject an international call-up?

I have had a couple but none of them were ever going to be good enough to play for Italy anyway.

  13. National Team Update 2032

    20190310102037_1.thumb.jpg.9ec88886c7d39488eb646f8eaa46090e.jpg     20190309233910_1.thumb.jpg.e650e90661e9ca4fb68cdfc68336db68.jpg     20190310102213_1.thumb.jpg.32240df7fcfe585fde3bba21de9a2d7a.jpg     20190310103156_1.thumb.jpg.4830bf680278a40aa176ff566216d78d.jpg

Another solid year for the national side, winning promotion in the Nations league from League C to B. Drawn in a group only featuring 3 teams, Ourselves, Israel(81st) and Georgia(84th) I expected a tighter group, at the same time we have beaten both sides a couple years back and are a much better side now. 3 wins and 1 draw meant we topped the table. League B will be alot tougher though, with teams like Serbia, Sweden just some of the names playing at that level. The short Nations League campaign meant I was able to organise a few friendlies, and I tried to face sides ranked around  50th-75th in the world, so not major tests, but against sides ranked better than ourselves, with the exception to the June games. We was lucky to beat Hungary and the loss to Morocco was a fair result. The 3-2 win over Scotland was a great game, and to smash Hong Kong was unexpected. This has seen us rise to a save high of 82nd in the world. With a world cup qualification campaign next season, we can really test our progress again.

    The Squad

  14. Season 2031/32 Review

    Competitions

    20190306141402_1.thumb.jpg.bace58729a5b16d720530c432144b270.jpg

Another season winning plenty of silverware. We managed to wrestle the league title back from Milan and secure our third successive Champions League. We really struggled early on in the Champions League, scraping through the group stages with 2 wins and 4 draws. In the League it was pretty straightforward, we led the pack from November through til the end of the season. We still can not win the cup though, I really dont understand why, but we are simply ***** in this competition. I played my first team this season, when usually i would be resting a few for the cup games, but even then we lost to Pescara, maybe next season.

    Playing Side

    20190306141350_1.thumb.jpg.23a762144e50b18c091b00527d51afd7.jpg     20190306141356_1.thumb.jpg.b60d6f0f88c8b204abb9e4ccb2583f7f.jpg

A great year with lots of development. Ceravolo 25c scored an impressive 11 goals in all competitions, taking the goal scoring keepers tally to 23 career goals. Righi 26a finished as the Serie A top scorer on 22 league goals. This season was a breakthrough season for HG Cb Valentini, he looked like he may not fulfil his potential, and I was hoping to get him to play for the national side due to this, however he has been called up by Italy twice this season so I am less hopeful now.

With my focus now on developing Sammarrinese players only, we made no signings this season. I'm not just selling everyone else, but will gradually faze them out when I can. I am also not ruling out ever signing anyone again, as I will dip into the transfer market, but only if I have to. For example, we already have 2 excellent left backs, but one will be moving on this summer, you will see why below in this years intake  . We allowed 2 of the national sides first choice players to leave this year. Moretti 20b joined Napoli, he was the club sides back up keeper and needed games, as did  Cb Giorgetti 21a. They are both now playing every game, so bodes well for the national side as well as their own development. We have 6 HG players currently performing regularly for the club, Id like to add to that this coming season, but minus the new Lb, we don't have anyone who is first team ready as yet.

On another note Ceravolo 25c and Valentini have been called up by Italy for this summers Euro's whilst Serie A top scorer Righi 26a missed out, even so he has still refused my attempts to play for San Marino.

    Youth Development

    20190301205048_1.thumb.jpg.a78805d918c955e732474d5a7c115128.jpg    20190306143649_1.thumb.jpg.055c008fa4ca8f4a61dd28dc1a559e1a.jpg     20190306143704_1.thumb.jpg.7318f77fffca367eded8e911d691ab98.jpg     20190306143643_1.thumb.jpg.96accff210b6f6db8c0c4b4be5d86b27.jpg

We had a run of two poor intakes, but our last 2 have really produced. This year we got the brilliant looking Lb in Alex Di Angelis 32b, who is single Nationality, he is going straight into the first team as 2nd choice next season, amazingly, he wasnt even the highest rated potential wise, Rm Nicola Ercolani 32a was, with a driven personality, he is much more raw than Angelis but will be interesting to see how he develops. Im now only tagging the San Marino eligible youth players, if any of the others develop, they will be simply sold on.

    Finances And Facilities

    20190306141413_1.thumb.jpg.dccea532d5e7062ae06b9ab536bcb481.jpg      20190306141438_1.thumb.jpg.00e43e3ad06f0e5b17eab8110d7bceda.jpg

The club is very rich nowadays, with fantastic facilities for the seniors and youth sides. This was the first season in Serie A that we actually lost money some months though, This is down to the wages getting pretty high. My top earner is now on £185k a week and we have 9 players earning £100k a week or more. With other sides paying £300k a week though, we still have a reasonable wage budget for the current climate.

    20190304172445_1.thumb.jpg.518af19f349d973ed0d47c2c0ad58477.jpg

More importantly, we are again expanding the capacity of our stadium, and I think this will max it out. The stadium was built in 2029, so we are playing here until at least 2049. Its not a bad size stadium at all, and looking on google, San Marino has a population of 34'000. So we need near on everyone to fill the stadium out, although im sure tourists are coming from all corners of the globe to watch our beautiful, free flowing football.

    Next Season

Would be nice to get a few more home grown youngsters into the first team picture, we have a lb who looks the part, aswel as 2 cms out on loan who could come back and play, but Cm is a position we are stacked in, so may involve moving someone on to make room.

  15. Euro 2032 Qualification

    20190301065445_1.thumb.jpg.a060922c86187f9a0422849229342dfb.jpg     20190301065440_1.thumb.jpg.13e7f9e44a636035d7c68c0dc37a70c8.jpg     20190301065806_1.thumb.jpg.32f5299ecbca17c1e6337b621bf9e879.jpg

A really bitter sweet campaign for me, we showed just how much progress has been made by finishing 2nd on 20 points. But we still failed to qualify due to being 9th in the second placed table. I am happy with this though, its still too early to qualify in my opinion as we still don't have an amazing squad. We really should have had 2 more points as we faced Armenia in the penultimate game and could only manage a 1-1 draw. A win there, and we would have qualified.

    20190301065425_1.thumb.jpg.951f066764b560dc6d8cdfe6e41b2793.jpg     20190301065432_1.thumb.jpg.3ab28970005b366e1648c02c69281bf2.jpg

In the middle of the park, we have a decent amount of options. This is why i have been playing with 3 cms, just to fit our strongest players in. The top 3 in the national pool shot all want to play for Italy, Righi 26a and Ceravolo 25c will more than likely play for them but Valentini 25b is nowhere near the Italian squad so fingers crossed with him. We lack any depth apart from Cm so still have a long way to go to.

    20190301071931_1.thumb.jpg.8c6a810e6e6eaf74145ba3fb0d83169a.jpg

We are however up to 92 in the world rankings. We have a couple of friendlies lined up against teams just outside the top 50 so hoping to continue to climb the rankings. With the nations league returning next year, depending on our draw, promotion could be a possibility.

  16. Im really struggling to get into the 2nd attempt at this challenge so will be reverting to my 1st attempt. The last season played was this.

    Season 13 review

Our ding dong battle with Milan continued this year as we could only manage 2nd place, finishing 11 points behind the league winners. Most shockingly we suffered our worst defeat ever with a shocking 8-2 loss to Roma.

Champions League - Our 2nd Champions League in a row means we are officially a European powerhouse, but what made me most proud this season was the 5-0 win over Basel. With qualification sealed, I played a team featuring 7 youth products and we romped home 5-0.

UEFA Super Cup -  A game that really could have gone either way, but we pulled through with a 2-1 win over Arsenal.

Club World Cup -  Our first appearance ended in glory with 2 easy high scoring wins.

Super Cup TIM - A 5-2 win over Inter.

TIM Cup - Still cant seem to win the cup. Our 2nd final in a row ended with a loss to Milan.

    Playing Side

Losing defensive stalwart Rony Presner to Real Madrid for £80m was a bitter pill to swallow at the start of the season. Hes been such a key player for us for the last 6/7 years that he was always going to be difficult to replace. Negrete was bought in as a replacement and he had a very good season as we conceded 3 less goals than last year, and thats including the freak 8 we conceded at Roma. National team veteran Giorghetti 21a (92 caps) is being allowed to leave this summer for the good of his career. Hes not been getting enough games and has started to complain, as well as regress attributes wise, hes been sold to Lokomotiv Moscow for £21m. Its gonna be quite a big summer for us, as you can see in the squad list, we have 8 youth products in and around the first team, and am hoping to bring through a few more through this season. Ideally, id like to field a full homegrown 11 in at least 1 game next season.

    Youth Production

Nothing to shout about here really. We are crying out for a striker in the national side, so either of the two STs here may be able to improve us in a few years time, but noone here will have an impact in the near future.

    Behind The Scenes

Finances are looking healthier every year, and with us banking £48m net profit from transfers in the summer. We are due to move back into our 24'015 seater stadium this summer, and I will be pushing to expand ASAP.

    Next Season

To keep on developing the youngsters and try to win back the league from Milan.

    National Team Update 10/06/2031

We have made a fantastic start to the qualifiers. 3 wins, against Finland 1-0, Norway 2-1 and Armenia 2-0 and a loss to Serbia 2-0 leaves us on a healthy 9 points and sat in 2nd place. With Gibraltar up next (should beat those), we have a real chance of finishing in 2nd place this time around. I doubt Serbia will drop many more points so cant see us grabbing 1st place so 2nd is the aim. This form has seen us finally break into the top 100 on the rankings

To freshen it up i shall be operating a Sammarrinese only policy from now onwards. By this i mean anyone currently at the club can play, but i will no longer be signing anyone who is not eligible for the national side.

EDIT : Apologies ive somehow deleted my screenshots on the steam cloud when having a clean up of my pc. So all previous posts with screenshots are now un-viewable.

When I responded to you, I wrote that there has to be league below the 1st Team and B Team, but what I meant was that there has to be a league BETWEEN them. Sorry.

I understood what you meant jim, thanks for the explanation though.

I know the Dutch Eerste Division is full of B teams, and think Barca B played in La Liga 2 not too long ago.

Yeah. I'm not positive, but I think there has to be a league below the 1st Team and the B Team.

If we are in Ligue 1 then the B/Reserve Team can only go as high as the National.

If we are in Ligue 2 then the B/reserve Team can only go as high as the National 2.

Last season we were in Ligue 2 and the B/Reserve Team were in National 3 level and were crowned Champions so they can go up to National 2, but unless we get into Ligue 1, then  the Reserves can't make the next step to National level.

I see what you mean. Different to the Dutch and Spanish systems then.

Both the Reserves and U19's started in non-playable leagues so they only played friendlies.

The Reserves have done quite well actually.

It wasn't until the 10th season, (2027/28), that the Reserves played in the National 3 - Nouvelle-Aquitaine league, and they have been playing in a competitive league ever since. In 2031/32 they won promotion to French National 2 - B but were relegated back to National 3 - Hauts de France the following season.

The U19's have found it  much harder.

They didn't play in a playable league until 2028/29, (season 11), when they were promoted to French Under 19 National - Group C and although they survived that 1st season, were relegated the following season. They stayed in a non-playable league for 2 seasons, before being promoted again to French Under 19 National - Group C. They were relegated, (again) though, so this season we are again in a non-playable league.

Thats adds another whole dimension to the save no doubt. So you could potentially have your first team in Ligue 1, and B team a league below at some point.

Haha - if seen that some of my players later in their career go to the Australian league - but look at their national team.

Must be some kind of bug - but pretty funny.

All players started their career in Italy - with only italian nationality. Even one of my regens made it to the Austrailian nationalteam.

Never noticed this before that is crazy! I might load up my first attempt and see if there was a similar trend. Can i ask what leagues you have loaded? Wondering if that has an impact

Yeah this is why I was annoyed at getting promoted in Nations League. If we hadn't qualification for Euro 2032 would have been quite likely. I'll be interested to see if National Teams IRL pick up on this and start treating the Nations League before the Euros seriously, and the ones before the World Cup like friendlies (particularly the ones in divisions C and D)

Looking at your qualifying campaign I think you may do well in the next nations league, I almost sealed back to back promotions but finished behind The Republic of Ireland who were way too strong for league C

So normally I would wait until the end of the season to post an update, but this just could not wait. San Marino have qualified for the 2030 World Cup. I thought it would be at least another decade until we would challenge for tournament qualification, but we defied the odds and barely made it as one of the second place teams. Our world cup group comprises Australia and Senegal, so while we avoided any world beaters, it will still be tough to advance to the round of 32.

In our starting 11, we have 1 leading Serie A player, 3 Good Serie B / Decent Serie A players, 3 Serie C level players, and 4 Serie D level players, so still a lot of weaknesses in the lineup, particularly at left back where we still call up a defender from the Sammarinese league even when everyone is healthy.

    Qualification Group:

    Second Place Teams:

I actually thought there would be world cup playoffs instead of this nonsense (I don't recall this rule being present IRL for world cup qualification - but perhaps they are changing it for 48 team world cup), so to actually secure qualification was a nice surprise.

To be perfectly honest, I think this was more an aberration than anything, as we were extremely fortunate in a couple of the games. The only games we deserved to win were at home against Cyprus and Bosnia. We definitely deserved the home draw vs. France, but should have lost at home to Norway (though a draw wasn't THAT lucky), should have lost away to France and Bosnia, and probably should have drawn away to Cyprus. So I'd say we deserved only 8 points instead of 14. The sobering 5-0 defeat to Norway shows there's still a long way to go. However, this is my first time qualifying for a major tournament ever with the San Marino challenge (did it once in fm 16 or 17 I think without any qualification), so this is still a great accomplishment.

The away game to France was insane. We scored on our only shot in the first half, going into halftime tied 1:1. They get a 60th minute red card - we score against the run of play to make it 2 - 1. In the 90th minute they have a corner kick, and I'm about to sub in my tall striker for defending it, only at the last second to cancel the substitution, as they say you shouldn't make a substitution defending a corner. And of course they score on the corner :(. Luckily it didn't make a difference in the end, but that would have been so sweet.

Fantastic progress mate. I qualified for a Euros around 2024 via the nations league but was easily outclassed. Good luck at the world cup
