  1. @Cleon if you were to use 2 man up top, would you still ask one of them to mark the opposition DM?
  2. @crusadertsarI wonder if you care about attacking width when you're using the 424? Since it's only a 2 man midfield formation, do you go narrower? Or because you use 2 IW (unless you use "stay wide" PI in any of them?) you keep it normal? Other question is if you care about your IW's preferred foot? Thanks! Another cracking thread
  3. @CleonI wonder if player traits make you change a player duty? For example, the guy you're using as a WB(a). If he had "goes forward" trait would you use him as a WB(s) instead, or that doesn't really matter to you?
  4. I see that very few people uses someone in FB position with a defend duty. Do you guys see anything wrong in particular using a defending duty fullback?
  5. @Cleon sorry if this is the wrong thread I'm posting, but I'd just like to know your opinion here. Do you avoid using a striker partnership both on attacking duty? You've wrote that anything can work I know it and it just depends on the whole picture, but I'd like you know what you think. In this case the CF(a) has "comes deep" trait. The reason why I went with attacking duty on him is because I'm using a balanced mentality, but I want him to be aggressive and attacking minded when he has the ball. Thanks in advance.
  6. @crusadertsardo you still playing games with this system? I wonder if you don't think your strikers (since both have attacking duties) are sometimes a bit too far from the midfield, especially when using 2 DM's.
  7. But isn't a viable option? Some people use a low or medium block with more urgent pressing
  8. A role you wouldn't use in a medium/low block? Even if it's kind of aggressive block?
  9. Thank you. I'm asking because I think lots of people is a bit skeptical about using a BWM when you only have 2 man in the middle. I've always read that it's not a very good option, as the player can leave too much space behind and disrupt your defensive shape. But I also think that it can work, as long as you have the right player, of course. The better the player there, the better will the role be played
  10. I have a player who plays as a WM, he is kind of a playmaker without being one (he also has traits of a playmaker). I have him to sit narrower, play more direct and risky passes. Now he learned (out of nowhere) to move into channels. Do you think it can negatively impact his performances? Thanks
  11. How do you guys feel about playing 2 strikers with attack duty in a flat 442? Is it something you'd use? I'm trying that with a CF(a) and PF(a), but the trick here is that the CF has the trait to come deep, so I think it can work. I want him with an attack duty, because I want him to take more risks and be more aggressive with the ball because he is really good in all areas. I also use a balanced mentality, so having him with a support duty might be a bit cautious.
  12. @Cleonnice to know that you keep playing and enjoying your save after 19 seasons. I have a question about your selling/keeping players strategy. Do you impose any age limit to which you start selling players? Or if you have an old player that is no longer important to you in terms of tactics but influent as a mentoring member, do you still keep him? And when you buy someone, do you also have an age limit or you buy him no matter the age, as long as you think he will fit your tactic? Thanks
  13. @crusadertsar how have Ruiz been doing? Do you think he could score more if he had a stronger left foot or if playing on the left side?
  14. Hi, Before signing a player, is the playe average rating history a factor for you? Or don't care about it much?
  15. @Cleon I'm really liking this thread, mainly the striker part and it's amazing how your striker Reginaldo did score 107(!) goals in 60 apps. Sorry if you've mentioned it already but I have a few questions if you don't mind: 1- Do you take control of individual training and let the assistant do the general one? 2 - Regarding mentoring, do you keep the mentoring groups within the same training units? For example a mentoring group with only defensive units players and other one with just attacking units? Or you don't care about it and you mix both? 3 - As I'm still playing my long term save in FM21, what is the closest to a progressive pass I can search for? Key pass maybe? Thanks.
  16. So lack of consistency can change in a young player? But is it rare for that change to happen? I've noticed that I have a few in my team
  17. High potential player but inconsistent will stop you from signing him?
  18. What about a low block with more urgent pressing and get stuck in? So you keep a more compact block but press more aggressively when they enter the zone
  19. Hi, two questions: 1- Do you ever had a player with "possesses long flat throw? If so, do you still choose the long throw option or that trait will make him always do it, regardless of what throw you choose? 2 - In a counter attacking tactic, isn't a bit counter-intuitive to go for a narrower attacking width? With thay playing style you certainly want to get the most of your fastest and best dribblers players across the whole pitch?
  20. @SJHExtramaybe would be better if you create a tactic and upload it here so people can help you?
  21. I'm still playing FM21, but I think it's a combination of pressing traps and invite/prevent crosses. So trap inside(?) and invite crosses to use a narrower width when defending. Defensive Width has been replaced, too, with four new Instructions, all of which will help you better set up your defensive shape in different zones of the pitch. Outside of your own defensive third, you now have instructions to tell your team to set up a pressing trap out wide or in central areas, affecting the way your team positions and presses when defending – this can be used as an attempt to funnel the opposition into the area of your choice. Previously, Defensive Width was based around stopping or inviting crosses, but now they are stripped back and presented as their own instructions; you can set your players to be narrow and defend the cross, or ask your full-backs to stop the cross at the source.
  22. @crusadertsar thank you for another cracking thread. Out of possession wise and since the 442 only uses 2 bodies in the middle, would you agree to use a narrower width when defending or do you change it depending on what's happening in the game/opposition?
